Allows for two things to run separately or at the same time!
I didn't personally install this, but it gives the ability to do two separate things (like hand held and rain shower) at the same time or individually.
Also it looks pretty idiot proof because it can be installed upsidown and still work! pretty cool.
We bought the following diverter. If you put the top control facing down you get both at once!

Impressive engineering
I got this based on an on-line recommendation, and have been very happy with it. I followed the instructions carefully and viewed the instructional video several times, and installed it myself without incident. It has been about 7 months since I installed it, and I'm very happy with it. I have configured it with a fairly conventional shower + tub set up. I like having a single lever that controls all the water flow -- rotate left to control tub volume; rotate right to control shower volume.

The only issue I didn’t get to use it because the shower system that came with its own iBox.

Not worth buying Hansgrohe fixtures if you have to use these.
We bought 3 of these less than 2 years ago and had them installed in our newly remodeled bathroom. Recently 2 out of 3 of our fixtures started leaking, and our plumber said it was the fault of this product. I've just started the process of reaching out to customer service, and will update the review depending on how that goes.

Ingenious modular design
Once you make sense of the convoluted instructions, this is a very intelligent approach to rough-plumbing a shower -- easily customizable, with service stops so you can test and flush the system before the walls go up. The only downside is that almost all of the valve trim models have a very modern aesthetic -- not good for a classic or more understated bathroom.

Hard to deal with
Be aware this is not like any other rough plummer deals with daily. I had two plumblmers tried and it still went wrong badly. I had to buy an extender from Hangsgrohe. Very poor instructions

It is a good idea to let your plumber know ahead of time ...
This was simple to install and connect to our hansgrohe faucet. It is a good idea to let your plumber know ahead of time that this has 3/4 inch outlets, that way they can have the right connections to convert to 1/2 inch pipe if that is what is in your house.

Only Rough In You Need
No guessing, adapts from one to three outlets, although water will flow to only one of them at a time. I've used several of these on remodels we've done and plumbers seem satisfied with the ease of installation.

Easy to install
I used this to replace a POS made in China valve. Had to cut open the back of the wall and install it behind existing tile. Worked very well, with the client very happy. I like the shutoffs. I plan to use these on future jobs, due to the plastic shield and the very heavy duty construction.

Hands Down - Hansgrohe - Plumb Good for your Plumbing
Appears extremely well made - and I'm a design engineer. Its also well thought out - but then I have not installed it yet. Very pricey, but then my time is worth a great deal to me, and I've had to rip out walls before to get to poorly made units in my house that did not hold up to the test of time.

So I have to pay almost $400 to have the bad part replaced with a new one
Received a defective one which was not discovered until the plumber installed it. The cold stop does not work. So I have to pay almost $400 to have the bad part replaced with a new one.
