okay pump, short life span.
I just wanted to echo the short life of this pump that others mentioned. Pump failing after just three years. There are two local service centers here in Tacoma. Both said it's likely better to just buy new and replace this rather than have it serviced at $120/hr labor rate, minimum 2 hours plus parts. Per the sales rep there is a "seal kit" that runs about $65. Our pump is leaking, making a higher/louder noise than normal. The rep suggests a dried, worn and/or bad seal. There are two great video's on youtube showing the complete disassemble of the pump to the point where I think that I or anyone mechanically inclined could likely service their own pump. I was quoted $750 for a replacement by one service center. Obviously you can get one for much less.
I removed the old pump and installed the new one myself. I'm a seasoned DIY home owner and fairly capable of doing most things around the house. In this case, it's really just a basic plumbing connection job. There are two connections: inlet & outlet. It just depends on your existing water lines as to just what connections and/or extensions. Both connections require only hand tightening. Both connections are configured to have some slight angling ability, that is there is a little "play" in the connections so the pipe does not have to be in an exact straight line in or out. Once installed, there is a top plug you unscrew and then you fill the pump with water to prime it before starting. Good Luck.

Junk Pumps and the wrong replacement sent
I have had 5 of these pumps in the past 12 years. They are work great when they work but they do not last long. This is used as a pressure pump for an average sized house. These pumps seem to average 2-3 years, if they work out of the box.
This new pump arrived with a 115 volt sticker on the box. It was a 220-240 model. I discovered this when I went to plug it in, after installing it, and plumbing. Fortunately I have gotten very fast at installing because I have had to repair and install so many of these pumps.
Grundofos generally makes good pumps. This model is an exception to the rule. Most of the supply houses have discontinued these pumps due to on going problems. Go with any other type of pump,if possible. I have these pumps servicing 2 location and only re-purchased so I would not have to modify the plumbing. I guess its time to modify the plumbing.

Gone Out Again? Broke the Bank
This is the second pump in three years At a cost of over a grand to buy and install them to have it fail just after the Warrantee expires Amazon has no business carrying this expensive piece of JUNK

Hopefully still dependable
Bought this pump to replace an identical one that lasted almost exactly 10 years. Like another customer said "I must of got one of the good ones". Worked on and with Grundfos pumps along with many other brands in the industrial field for years and they are a good pump but like any pump some will deteriorate faster if the conditions used in are destructive such as sediment saltwater chemicals etc. Easy to install and they auto operate perfectly as a booster pump with town water when you live on a hill. Mine did arrive with a chip in the suction fitting where it was banging on the box because the carrier stood it on end. I replaced it with the one off my old pump and am asking the seller to replace it as I plan on rebuilding my old pump. Great price with Prime shipping and got it a day early so it was one less day of a dripping shower because of reduced pressure.

Unique features, high price, short life.
Grundfos makes a unique product line with their MQ series. These pumps work well and perform tasks that you can't easily do with other pumps. The down side is that their quality is spotty and you can't easily buy repair parts. I have been unable to find another mfg with similar product line.
My personal experience with this pump application has been a mean lifetime of 3 years. That works out to $130 per year to own this pump, which I consider too high. Do not buy if you don't have too
This pump is not meant to last more than five years. This one only lasted one year. When I contacted Grundfos for warrenty repair, they provided local repair shop's phone number. When I called the shop, they don't do warrenty repairs. I emailed Grundfos again, and they never replied. Last two units lasted around five years. This unit was a lemon, and Grundfos does not stand by with their warrenty promise. I do not recommend this product because manufacturer does not care about their customers.

Third one in three years
I have just ordered my third Grundfos MQ3-45 in three years. Each of the first two failed. The first blew a gasket and flooded my basement. In its second year, the replacement pump simply refused to start up, repeatedly blowing the circuit breaker. Reflecting my hopes rather than my experience, the third one is to be installed this week. Maybe I should have changed brands and spent the extra bucks to retool the plumbing, but somehow I just can't make myself believe that a marketed product can be this unreliable. If you have a choice, look elsewhere!

Decent Pump. GRUNDFOS DOES NOT WARRANTY FROM AMAZON.
The product, when it works, is excellent. This is my second pump. However, do not except years of flawless operations. In my experience, 2-3 years is what you will get before the motor or seals go. BUYER BEWARE: NOTE THAT THERE IS NO WARRANTY SUPPORT from Grundfos when purchasing from Amazon. Consumers - Please check with Grundfos yourself before buying to see for yourself.

Quiet, efficient and powerful
This pump is amazing, I also have the Grundfos Scala2 which is a 3/4HP. I wanted another one of those but they seem to be out of stock everywhere at the moment so I went for this 1HP one and wow it’s way more powerful and just as quiet. Draws up to 750 watts instead of 550 but still a great efficient pump compared to most others. Highly recommend it.

To get this replaced ASAP
I like this product. It says that it has 2 year warranty in the description. Now I just need to figure out how to contact amazon or the manufacturer to help me out. We’ve had it for a year and it started making noises so I’m interested in getting it replaced. The one I had before this lasted for many years. Anyone having knowledge on how to proceed? It’s not like I have amazons phone number. A little help please. Thanks

This pump is great when it works
This pump is great when it works. I purchased the first one about 5yrs ago and it worked great until the flow sensor went bad. I purchased another new one because repair cost would have been high anyway. Replacement pump began leaking from the base. The seller replaced pump with another new one only to have that pump leak even worse from the same place. Replaced that pump again and so far this one works fine. Pros are the pump is quiet and drastically improves household water pressure (from 28PSI to 98PSI) . Cons are 4-5 yr life and possible leaks. Seller was very helpful in correcting/replacing the previous pumps.

NOISY
This was a replacement for one that just started leaking from the pressure tank on the back of the pump. Mine was installed in 2005 and had a problem with the capacitor. (25MFD-370 V VAC- VOLT 25 Uf, found on Amazon) Easy to replace.
I bought a new one from Amazon and am happy with the price. It is installed and my water is running with no leaks. So in that respect I'm happy. Going on the assumption it will last as long as the first one, the only problem I have is it is very noisy. My other one was quite and had a slight hum. This one sounds like a very large commercial pump in a pump house.
Makes me wonder what Grundfos did to make the same pump so noisy. I just found out I can replace the pumps pressure tank with the newer design. Go figure.

Well, it started out out like this...
We live on a hill with a 30 percent grade, and in seven years this is our third replacement pump. Easy to install, we paid plumbers before, and the pump started without any problems. Except it blew out the circuit breaker; old, I admit. Fixed it, turned on again, ran great. Hours later, the water pipes to the house broke. Old, more than fifty years old. Fixed, turn on again, works great. Thanks to this pump we have water pressure and no worries about weak electric circuitry or problems with water pipes. Very recommended.

Brah your pump is only sucking.
Product installed to exact match replace a 5yr old unit that was leaking from bottom. Only after another company attempted an unsuccessful gasket kit replacement we had to replace it. New Unit is 2 months in use and is leaking from bottom of unit. Grundfos warranty request you return it to place of purchase(amazon) but they only accept returns after 30 days WTH. Now i have an unhappy customer and i get to spend my abundance of personal time trying to get a warranty claim on a two month old unit through ghost supply house. None of my labor time is reimbersed. I measure alot of products based on the warranty service.

I'm still wondering what happened to the pump they sent me.
I like this style of pump but I have owned 2 others and between the 2 of them they lasted over 20 years. This one I got from Big Frog must of been defective from the factory because it only lasted a little over 2 weeks. I bought a new one here in Gillette and it is still running fine. It wasn't a problem with Big Frog I think it was a factory issue. I put a letter in the box when I returned it to them requesting them to check out the problem and let me know what happened. I didn't hear back from them but as you probably know I got my money back.

Works good but doesn't last
Pump works good and is fairly quiet. Basic pressure is over 100 psi. Had to put a pressure reducer on it. This is my third pump. They last about 1 1/2 years.

Used 5 times and now its broke!!
Had this pump for 3 months in a house that we use as a only about 3 times a year. Which means the pump has only been used a total of 5 times.. that's right I have been to this house twice since I purchased this pump and turned the water on 5 times!!! The PUMP NO LONGER WORKS!!!
Amazon says it's a non returnable item.. how can you buy something for over $500 and use it 5 times and it no longer works and not be able to get your money back or a new one??? Looks like my shopping with Amazon is about to come to an end!!!

This thing will leak in 2 years DONT BUY
This product is great for 2 years, then it starts leaking. DO NOT BUY THIS. I purchased in June of 2016. April of 2018 and it's leaking. For the price of this pump, it's a RIP OFF. GRUNDFOS makes it appear they are a superior company and make superior products, however, it's not the case at all.

Bought a pump in Jan/14 and it has already failed. I called Amazon and all they would do was give me the manufacturer phone number. Called the manufacturer and they stated since the pump was purchased through Amazon they would have to follow up on the warranty. Reminder about buying things this way...No support.

If your purchase has a warranty, don't expect Amazon to help you with it.
This pump failed after 24 hours, spewing water over my basement. The manufacturer says I must return it to the distributor for warranty repair or replacement, but amazon will not let me return it. This pump supposedly has a 5 year warranty, but good luck getting it replaced. I made the mistake of not installing it immediately when I purchased it, letting it get outside the 30 day return policy.
