okay pump, short life span.
I just wanted to echo the short life of this pump that others mentioned. Pump failing after just three years. There are two local service centers here in Tacoma. Both said it's likely better to just buy new and replace this rather than have it serviced at $120/hr labor rate, minimum 2 hours plus parts. Per the sales rep there is a "seal kit" that runs about $65. Our pump is leaking, making a higher/louder noise than normal. The rep suggests a dried, worn and/or bad seal. There are two great video's on youtube showing the complete disassemble of the pump to the point where I think that I or anyone mechanically inclined could likely service their own pump. I was quoted $750 for a replacement by one service center. Obviously you can get one for much less.
I removed the old pump and installed the new one myself. I'm a seasoned DIY home owner and fairly capable of doing most things around the house. In this case, it's really just a basic plumbing connection job. There are two connections: inlet & outlet. It just depends on your existing water lines as to just what connections and/or extensions. Both connections require only hand tightening. Both connections are configured to have some slight angling ability, that is there is a little "play" in the connections so the pipe does not have to be in an exact straight line in or out. Once installed, there is a top plug you unscrew and then you fill the pump with water to prime it before starting. Good Luck.

Junk Pumps and the wrong replacement sent
I have had 5 of these pumps in the past 12 years. They are work great when they work but they do not last long. This is used as a pressure pump for an average sized house. These pumps seem to average 2-3 years, if they work out of the box.
This new pump arrived with a 115 volt sticker on the box. It was a 220-240 model. I discovered this when I went to plug it in, after installing it, and plumbing. Fortunately I have gotten very fast at installing because I have had to repair and install so many of these pumps.
Grundofos generally makes good pumps. This model is an exception to the rule. Most of the supply houses have discontinued these pumps due to on going problems. Go with any other type of pump,if possible. I have these pumps servicing 2 location and only re-purchased so I would not have to modify the plumbing. I guess its time to modify the plumbing.

This is the second pump in three years At a cost of over a grand to buy and install them to have it fail just after the Warrantee expires Amazon has no business carrying this expensive piece of JUNK

Hopefully still dependable
Bought this pump to replace an identical one that lasted almost exactly 10 years. Like another customer said "I must of got one of the good ones". Worked on and with Grundfos pumps along with many other brands in the industrial field for years and they are a good pump but like any pump some will deteriorate faster if the conditions used in are destructive such as sediment saltwater chemicals etc. Easy to install and they auto operate perfectly as a booster pump with town water when you live on a hill. Mine did arrive with a chip in the suction fitting where it was banging on the box because the carrier stood it on end. I replaced it with the one off my old pump and am asking the seller to replace it as I plan on rebuilding my old pump. Great price with Prime shipping and got it a day early so it was one less day of a dripping shower because of reduced pressure.

Unique features, high price, short life.
Grundfos makes a unique product line with their MQ series. These pumps work well and perform tasks that you can't easily do with other pumps. The down side is that their quality is spotty and you can't easily buy repair parts. I have been unable to find another mfg with similar product line.
My personal experience with this pump application has been a mean lifetime of 3 years. That works out to $130 per year to own this pump, which I consider too high. That said, the unique features this pump provides means I will continue to replace it with the same model and grumble about the cost. Grundfos should offer a way to buy repair parts. Currently, I have a $500 paperweight for want of a simple pressure switch!

Do not buy if you don't have too
This pump is not meant to last more than five years. This one only lasted one year. When I contacted Grundfos for warrenty repair, they provided local repair shop's phone number. When I called the shop, they don't do warrenty repairs. I emailed Grundfos again, and they never replied. Last two units lasted around five years. This unit was a lemon, and Grundfos does not stand by with their warrenty promise. I do not recommend this product because manufacturer does not care about their customers.

Third one in three years
I have just ordered my third Grundfos MQ3-45 in three years. Each of the first two failed. The first blew a gasket and flooded my basement. In its second year, the replacement pump simply refused to start up, repeatedly blowing the circuit breaker. Reflecting my hopes rather than my experience, the third one is to be installed this week. Maybe I should have changed brands and spent the extra bucks to retool the plumbing, but somehow I just can't make myself believe that a marketed product can be this unreliable. If you have a choice, look elsewhere!

Decent Pump. GRUNDFOS DOES NOT WARRANTY FROM AMAZON.
The product, when it works, is excellent. This is my second pump. However, do not except years of flawless operations. In my experience, 2-3 years is what you will get before the motor or seals go. BUYER BEWARE: NOTE THAT THERE IS NO WARRANTY SUPPORT from Grundfos when purchasing from Amazon. Consumers - Please check with Grundfos yourself before buying to see for yourself.
