I am very pleased with the ScanSnap IX1500. I received it yesterday and set it up ready to start scanning files today. It was very easy to set up for use with my Windows 10 PC. I am impressed with the speed and the auto duplex scanning. I just spent 6 hours working on digitizing files I had previously prepped. I was able to get a lot of work done in a short amount of time. I have no complaints and think the money spent on this scanner will be well worth it.

I upgraded from the ix500 which I have used for several years. In many ways, the iX1500 is a nice upgrade. I like the touchscreen and find it useful. This scanner feeds documents much better with less jamming on things like receipts. I like the receipt guide. The output tray is a huge upgrade and I no longer end up with papers flying across the room. The ability to define and modify profiles is nice. To order your profiles on the touchscreen so that more frequently used ones are listed first you delete the other profiles and put them back on in your preferred order. Not ideal, but fine.
And, yet, I am giving this a 4 star review. Why? There are some maddening things where you can't do certain things with certain types of documents. For example, if you are defining a profile for a receipt you can choose to automatically name the document and can order the title before or after the date. But, if you are defining a profile for a document, you can't do that. The date must come before the title. You can't change the order. Why? No clue.
On the other hand, you can't choose to scan a receipt to a searchable PDF. The default is to scan receipts to jpeg. You can change that to default to PDF. Fine. But, you can't make it a searchable PDF! Well, you can but that is flawed also. If I scan to the cloud (say to Evernote) I can make it a searchable PDF but if I want to scan to my computer I can't. Well, I can lie to the Scansnap software and can tell it to treat all receipts like documents. Great! I can then scan to a searchable PDF. But, wait! When you do that for some odd reason the automatic naming for a receipt no longer works. It defaults to naming the receipt based upon the date scanned. Why? No clue.
There just seems to be a rigidity in what "they" think you will want to do. So, if you have a receipt they don't think you want it to be a searchable PDF. I like to scan everything to one file and make it all searchable. It is useless to me to have my "documents" be scanned searchable while the receipts aren't searchable. So, I have defaulted to just scanning everything to PDF (not searchable) and then I will mass OCR it all.
Just annoying to have the software assume I don't want to OCR my receipts or to assume that I only want to put the date first in the name of my documents. It would take so little to make this worthy of a 5 star review. But, alas, not yet.
Oh -- I read a review where someone commented it is harder to scan long receipts than it was with the iX500. What I did was create a long receipt profile so it is one step to choose that option and then for the next document I just choose my usual option (which is mostly scan to folder). Very easy.

Unless you're a computer wiz, don't buy this. I had a hell of a time setting it up and finally contacted Fujitsu chat. The chat guy was great and helped me set up scanner. Well, now I've updated Mac to Catalina and Scansnap also insisted on an update. I can no longer scan, and Fujitsu is demanding that I give it access to everything on my computer. Here I am tonight, needing to work, and I can't -- again. I'll have to wait until I can get in touch with Fujitsu chat again. In Fujitsu's instructions to allow access, they tell you that even tho you're giving them access to everything under your privacy settings, that they will only access blah, blah, blah. Yeah, right. I'll take your word for it, Fujitsu. Got any bridges you'd like to sell?
It already sucked that I had to buy this damn thing when my previous scanner was working just fine. But, no, wasn't compatible anymore. Total cash grab.
I'm reading on Inet and Reddit, and people far more knowledgeable than me are struggling to get this to work.
I'm also reading reviews here and it's very obvious that many of the 5 star reviews are FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.

They do that great thing where they ask you to sign in, but you can't, so you try to create an account, and it tells you that you already have an account. After screwing around with this $420 f-ing thing for 1/2 hour, I then went to their website and went through screen after screen until I could finally find someone to call. The person on the phone did not listen to what I said, kept asking me to repeat myself, told me that my computer should say things it clearly did not. Given my interactions with this person, I suspect it's another case of on the job training of someone with little to no knowledge at the customer's expense. She then wanted to get onto my computer, and I gave up. I'm going to have to find a different scanner. These people are SCUM.

At some point in the first half of 2019 Fujitsu disabled the auto-save functionality for scan-to-cloud. Saving to Dropbox, OneDrive or another service now requires opening app or desktop software and manually saving each file to the service you want to use. Files not manually saved in two weeks are deleted. This defeats the entire purpose of having a wireless, networked scanner.
I lost weeks of documents because of this change. After having a paper jam, I opened the iPhone app to see if the document had scanned correctly. While doing so I noticed the file had a note "send to a service is on hold." I logged into OneDrive to check my files and found that the scanner hadn't saved anything for weeks. Anything that had been scanned over two weeks before wasn't saved to OneDrive, and had been deleted by the ScanSnap Cloud service. Brilliant. Throwing an error on the scanner itself would have been better than hiding it in a generally unnecessary app.
The hardware is fine if kind of '90s retro-ugly. The scans are crisp and clean. It rarely jams. (If it did, I may have found the cloud issue earlier.) I disabled the wireless function and now just wait until I have a stack of paper big enough to justify pulling out my laptop.

I bought this because of the large number of documents I intermittently have to sign and return. Apparently it is assumed that everyone has something capable of quickly scanning documents, I did not until I purchased this.
This device is quite nice. It has adjustable features for the quality of the scan (I recommend the highest for signed documents) and you can scan in a stack of papers. I haven't used it yet, but it also has a special attachment for receipts, which I'm sure would be of use to a business, accountant, or people who just really need to keep track of that sort of thing. It also scans business cards. Basically I think I could stick just about anything paper with writing on it in this.
The software must be downloaded and installed separately from the website. The software is interesting because it reads legible printed text on what you scan in and uses portions of it to generate the filename of the scan. This feature can be disabled if you're paranoid (it's just machine-learning font/text recognition, similar stuff is built into a lot of PDF readers now), however it makes every document scanned rather easy to identify in your filesystem. THe software also categorizes whatever it scans and will attempt to identify things as business cards, receipts, or documents. When you choose the location you are saving scans to, it will automatically create a "business cards" and "receipts" folder within that directory.
The device has a touchscreen interface. It turns off or sleeps when you fold down the cover, which also protects the touchscreen. I have the white version. I like it.

Replaced an old model which served me well for many years. I use this one for basically for the same purposes. Fast secure scanning that I can control and save in various formats. Practical for my use. I think it is a bit expensive but based on the previous one which lasted years, I am counting on this one to last equally as long, which will make it worth every penny.

When Coctco started doing 2 hour delivery I thought that this is as good as life gets. I was wrong. I initially purchased the ix500 and spent countless hours of frustration trying to get it to operate. I thought I would give Scansnap another chance and I bought the ix1500. It was up and operating in no time. I have been scanning files and folders like a person in the manic phase of a bi-polar episode. It is life changing. I feel like someone has cleaned out all the crammed closets of my life and made military corners on all my beds. If you are struggling with the ix500 and can afford to upgrade then do it. And if you have employees and have to deal with all the government red tape then do it now. You will thank me. Promise!!!

This piece of garbage arrives configured to delete the software that makes all your other Scansnap scanners work. So, it appears, they're not going to work correctly. (We're still trying to see if that's fixable. If not, this piece of crap goes back to Amazon, and we delete the software that came with it, so we can reinstall the software the runs our other scanners.)
In addition, it wants to scan to Scansnap proprietary software which, of course, is not an industry standard. You have to go through gyrations to create a "new profile" that will scan to Adobe Acrobat which, oddly enough, IS an industry standard. (You'd think Scansnap would know that, and have the scanner default—or at least let you choose—that standard.)
I found videos on the Internet that explained how to reconfigure the scanner to work the old way; i.e., to scan to Adobe Acrobat Pro. Hopefully, it continues working that way, as I have ABSOLUTELY NO USE for Fujitsu's proprietary software.
WTHeck were you thinking, Fujitsu? This thing is definitely much worse than the old iX500.
So...I just ordered a Raven Pro. Sorry to say goodbye, Fujitsu, but you've failed us.

This is my fifth Fujitsu ScanSnap. I generally love this product and have recommended them to colleagues and friends for years. This model seemed like a great improvement, but their new software is both not as functional nor as stable.
For example, all previous models had a “scan to printer” capability which served as a copier for my home office. This one does not.
The design is cloud centric which might be ok for certain use scenarios (e.g. use when not connected to a computer); but I can’t imagine using this scanner stand alone.
And the scan to file functionality changed the history scans, making it much less facile.
Lastly, the scanner itself seems to be worse with multi page docs on lighter paper than its predecessor.
One good new feature is the ability to scan one page at a time into a single scan. This is useful for docs that stick together.
For example, all previous models had a “scan to printer” capability which served as a copier for my home office. This one does not.

This scanner functions very quickly and seemed high quality. However, I was seeking to replace my old NEAT scanner and tap into the NEAT organization system. This scanner is not TWAIN compatible and therefore it will not work seamlessly with the NEAT system as the old one did. Yes, there is a "work-around" but this takes more time and extra steps for each scan. Also, some of the features suggested are a bit mis-leading. For example, you CAN upload to Google Drive, but only to your core Google drive account. If you have a business account, it will not be found by the software. Also, you must set up a profile for each location you want to scan things to OR you will be moving items from the general folder to there appropriate folders after the scans. Not terrible, but not nearly as convenient as it should be. You CAN upload to dropbox or other cloud service but then ability to view content of documents/receipts is non-existent. I returned the scanner.

I had a Fijitsu ScanSnap S-510 and had to upgrade to aFijitsu ScanSnap S-1500 due to a Windows upgrade that did not support the S-510. Loved my S-500 and my S-1500 but one of the rollers failed and needed to replace the scanner quickly. I purchased a ScanSnap ix1500 but the mechanics of the operation changed. Why Fujitsu needed to fix there perfectly wonderful scanner that wasn't broken is puzzling. There is no longer is there a one button scan. The Scanner has a touch screen display with a choice of buttons and there is now scanning to the cloud which I don't need and had to work my way around the software. Just something new to learn after I mastered the old but the scanner is quicker and works smoother than the S-1500 and works flawlessly. I am sure I will master the software. In my opinion Fujitsu is worth the extra money.

Take the complaints about the software with a grain of salt. Those of us who have upgraded our computers and periferals have a bit of a learning curve, but the software is optimized for the 64 bit Macs and is very easy to use IF you take a few moments to read on line instructions or catch a You Tube on it if need be. There are NO instructions included--this is common now.
It is FAST! It will rip through 25-20 pages in no time, and the quality output is A+. Wireless is as fast as cable connection for me; my access point is about 40 feet away.
Product seems solid enough, certainly as good as my old one if not better. Four stars only because the software isn't totally intuitive and the delivery to the computer or terminal device could be a little more adjustable, but it's fine, recommended.

I am a huge Scansnap fan and have purchased about 50 of them over the course of 5 years. The iX500 was the pinnacle of Fujitsu's great and very reliable scanners. The new software is the Windows Vista of scanning upgrades and makes "scanning life" difficult for me. I'm not sure why Fujitsu would mess up a great product, but here we are. I guess Fujitsu must also think everyone is a Fisher Price toddler since they added a useless color touch screen to take up more desk space with the scanner and even added the circle of death graphic animation when the scanner doesn't connect. Please Fujitsu, just re-release the iX500 so you can continue making money.

This is my first specialized scanner for personal use, although I have used several industrial professional scanner at work. To save time for writing as well as for those who may search for reviews before purchase, this review will be very brief. Despite some annoyances, this Scanner is still good for its pricing and performance.
Pros:
1. Compact, light;
2. Very quiet;
3. Quite fast;
4. Can set up for several PCs connecting to this Scanner via Wi-Fi, each has own separate Profile (Name of PC using it)
CONS:
1. No document at all;
2. No network connector;
3. USB connector is only for direct connection to a PC. When the USB is connected to a router, the Scanner is not recognized in the network. Not yet testing with any USB cable connecting to a network adapter.
4. Using Wi-Fi connection, each PC can connect to this Scanner; but each can have only one account to use. See below.
5. Install software is quite slow with downloading only taking about 30 minutes or more;
6. No option to save the downloaded software into PC for re-install later if necessary. Each installation needs to download again;
7. Explanations for Setting up are slightly confusing, but after few times repeating probably one could figure out;
8. There is no option to delete Profiles from Scanner itself. This must be done at the PC using it. Not too bad though.
9. If the PC has 2 different accounts, such as Admin and another User, the Scanner will be confused and can't work.
Only one account can be used.

8. There is no option to delete Profiles from Scanner itself. This must be done at the PC using it. Not too bad though.
9. If the PC has 2 different accounts, such as Admin and another User, the Scanner will be confused and can't work.
Only one account can be used.
