I have only scanned pictures with this new scanner and have not had the time yet to scan negatives or slides but it works well with the pictures and is easy to use. I would highly recommend this scanner.

I was looking for a reasonably priced slide scanner. The other reviews influenced me to purchase this model. I have hundreds of slides to copy and although this does only 4 at a time I can go on to do other things while its cranking. I borrowed an older model which requires one to sit and provide the commands for each slide . The Epson V330 lets you choose a site and thus it's not necessary to stay at the keyboard.

This is the best scanner ever! The Scan-N-Stitch is what makes it worth every penny. I have scanned oversized prints and they came out awesome. I'm going to be using it for many projects. Wish I had had this years ago.

This Epson V330 scanner was purchased to replace a perfectly good Epson Perfection 1260 scanner. The software took 15 or 20 minutes to load and there was no conflict with the old scanner's software. The new interface seemed more direct and I liked how images were downloaded into the PC in fewer steps. A major reason for purchasing the new scanner was to scan slides. The 1260 did a good job with a separate light source and one slide at a time. It was a slow process. The V330 has a device to hold 4 slides and all 4 could be scanned at one time, and the light source is internal. I am a little concerned with thin plastic pieces in the holder that pressure holds the slides - I'm afraid they could accidentally be broken off. The quality of the images was amazing, especially after struggling with hundreds of slides with one of those $100 jobbies from Hammacher Schlemmer that has a single push button and a 4-slot holder. That device that was very unpredictable in image quality. I have not tried the V330 scanner for negatives yet. I am very pleased with my new V330 scanner. The upgraded software with the scanner was good, though I haven't fully tested it yet - I am intrigued with new "Scan-n-stitch" technology that allows for scanning extra large documents.

Excellent scanner, easy to use. I purchased it mainly to scan photo negatives as well as actual photos. Really, the main goal was negatives.Scanning negatives is very easy. Pop the negatives into a frame which comes w/the scanner, place them on the flatbed, close the lid, and scan. First there's a preview, after which you choose what pics of the negative you want. From that preview, you choose which pictures you want, quality, etc. Then start main scan.The more pics off a single negative strip you want to scan, the more time the scan takes. Good news is you can walk away while it's working, scanning each pic from the negative to a TIFF file, for example (there are other file options, such as JPG, but I scan to TIFF at highest quality because it offers more flexibility in my workflow).I mention "more time" above because I scan at high qual. The higher qual negeative scan you want, the more time it will take. You then compound that per-photo picture by the number you want to scan (i.e., if it takes 5 mins to give me one high-qual, then it will take about 20 mins to get 4 off the negative, etc.).I scanned some paper photos as well. All came out nice.For the price, this scanner's negative film and paper photo scanning features worked 100% of the time.

I had to replace another scanner that had a larger bed for scanning photos, artwork, slides and negatives. There is a one touch color restorer and a special program that allows you to scan poster sized papers a section at a time and then it stitches it all together on your computer. The extra advantage over another older (different brand) scanner is that it can scan 3 dimensional items because the top cover is rather flexible. The other advantage is the smaller footprint fits into smaller spaces! The scanning process slows a bit at the higher resolution scanning, for good reason. It is not any louder than other scanners, and has more flexibility to scan a variety of things that most scanners cannot handle.

my comment on the scanner is that it gets 5 stars , iam runing windows 7 and have none of the isues people have with the unit , i run it on auto mode all the time , it works better than i expected ,iam very happy with the purchase.

The Epson Perfection V500 exceeded my expectations for a film scanner. I bought it to occasionally scan 35mm and 120 film. I'll use the reflective scan option to scan contact sheets and prints as well. I've owned the unit for one year and seven months and all of the sudden I'm getting a red line down the middle of the glass. Honestly, I would be surprised if I have 50 scans on the thing.Luckily the red line is out of the area where I scan film, but now it's useless for reflective scans because of the location of the line.I miss the days of buying new computer hardware because you wanted to upgrade, not because you needed to replace.

All your old photo's will not last forever, they just keep on getting lighter and lighter and more frail and fragile. However,,, Now with the Epson Perfection V33, all you do is hook it up to you computer.,, you put an old photo in the scanner touch the button,,, and magic - that old photo shows up under your pictures on your computer and it even looks better than it did. Now that your old photo is on the computer, it can be burned onto a CD or just kept in storage in a memory stick,, so now your old photos can last forever - FANTASTIC.This Epson Perfection V33 Photo Scanner is super easy to use, very easy to set up, and it scans 8x10's and everything else. When you scan a little tiny picture - it still comes out very clear and a lot larger. Of course this scanner does not use any ink at all, if you want to print, just turn on your own printer.Thank you very much Epson for a great product and especially at a great price, and now my great-grand-kids,,,great-grand-kids can continue to enjoy all these old photos for now own.

I've owned an Epson Prefection 1240U Photo for years and years. Then the power adapter to my old Epson burns up. So i research Epson and found the V33. Seems to have the same CCD scanning eye as the V330 photo model. So I bought the V33 for $70 and start scanning photos to see how close it scans to the original print. Without any adjustments this V33 scanner over-exposes the original. Anything BLACK on the original or any deep color is washed-out and dull looking. What makes a nice looking photo, in my opinion, is stunning black contrasts that make all the other colors "pop". So to even come close to the original I had to adjust the Brightness to -15 in the scan wizard expert-mode to even try to get deep sharp contrast. Second thing I didnt like is the scanner seem to be a magnet for dust particles. I have a small horsehair brush I use to sweep dust away on photos. I swept both the orginal and the glass and it still shows dust particles speckled on the scanned photo. Only thing I can think of is the inside of the glass has dust on it and I'm not about to take the thing apart to clean the inside glass. Sorry to say this thing is getting boxed back up and returned. Sorry V33 you are a real disappointment :(

I've always liked Epson products, so getting this scanner was a fairly easy choice. It is easy to use and it interfaces with my Mac OSX system flawlessly.Now the negative... I hate the position of the USB and power inputs. We're all familiar with what the "front" of a device like this is. The control buttons are located at the "front" along a short edge and closest to the user while the power and data inputs are at the "back" on the other short edge closest to the wall or back edge of the desk. Not so with this scanner. For some reason I or any other sane, logical person can fathom, it was decided to position the inputs right at the front, adjacent to the control buttons. So, the conventional ideas regarding locating the scanner within your home office cannot apply. You can position the scanner so the inputs are at the "back," but then so will be the control buttons and a long edge will be facing out. Or you can position the control buttons out and closest to the user, but then the unsightly power and USB plugs are on prominent display right at the front corner where they also prevent flush placement against a wall or desk hutch.In the balance of Form and Function, Epson completely ignored Form. As for Function, the V33 is great.

We bought this after seeing an earlier version, owned by a friend, actually scan one of our slides. It did such a great job that we bought the Epson V330 Photo. My wife has now scanned in all of our slides, most of our pictures, and all of our important documents. It is easy to use (I actually have done some of the editing, and can tell you that the software is easy to use). The color from the slides and color photos is very acurate, and having them in the computer with full-screen size to see is wonderful, with all of the detail preserved through the scanning process. I can heartily recommend this scanner!

I'm a singer and voice teacher. I bought this to replace an older Epson flatbed scanner in my office that became obsolete when I upgraded to a windows 7 computer. I use this scanner to do research for my students and for my own performances. It works wonderfully.

Good, high-quality scanner for an economical price. This is my first LED scanner, and so far, no complaints. No lamp warm-up time is nice. I've primarily used it to scan older 35mm prints, and it does a good job. I haven't used it to scan negatives or slides, so I can't comment on those capabilities.

The scanner is fine and it does a good job, however, I'm not as happy with it as I was with the Epson Perfection 1240U that I had to replace because it wasn't compatible with the Windows 7, 64 bit operating system in my new computer. In addition, I didn't realize how inconvenient the connections would be that are located on the front right side corner instead of more traditionally in the rear. I guess for the price, I can't complain too much.

Has Windows 7 driver, easy to set up, good quality. Doesn't have option printing the scanned document, only after saving. I had an HP scanner before and was able to print the scanned document directly. But overall it is a good scanner, was delivered on time as scheduled.

I bought this scanner when I started to have software problems with my existing scanner. The Epson V33 was easy to set up, good quality scans and the scanning software is easy to use. Only mild complaint is the software protocol to name scanned documents which requires inclusion of a number 001, 002 etc. So if you don't want to number downloaded scans, you have to rename.

I recently purchased one of these for my Father, who had upgraded to Win 7, and his old Canon scanner apparently will never have drivers for 64-bit OS.Even more critical, is that my Dad is 80 years old, so he isn't a real technology adopter. He also has an HP all-in-wonder printer/fax/scanner, but the scanner portion was always too complicated for him to use.This scanner does the trick! It installs w/ the 64-bit OS w/o problems, it took a little digging through the software to find the 'one button solution' to get the image from the scanner into his family tree program. He is happy.Also, the scanner does an outstanding job of scanning! I also purchased one for myself, so I was very pleased with the quality.

Got the package from Amazon today, delivered on schedule (it is a little bit late considering it arrived at about 8:00PM, but it did arrive on the day as promised). Opened the box and installation (equipments and software) is snap, took me about 10 minutes to get my first image scanned.The one-key scanning feature is very convenient, pop up window of Epson software is easy to configure and easy to understand.One thing I want to mention is that this scanner is not as quiet as I expected, but since this is my first personal scanner, so this maybe common to all scanners. The scanning quality is very good once you choose 1200dpix1200dpi, and 300dpi mode does scan in very short time. Overall, I am very satisfied with it right now, but we will see after I put more scanning task on it.

Spent 2 hrs on the phone with Epson Tech Assist and 2 hrs with Epson Tech in Calif. and they tried everything and could not make it work. They did try hard but no luck. I was sent 2 scanners when I only wanted one. When I returned them both at a cost of $26 to me my refund was short about $30 from what it cost me. Thats on top of the $26 it cost to ship it back. Be very careful ordering from Amazon. It has been a week and have received no answer as to the shortfall in the refund, of which I made an inquiry.

I wanted a dedicated scan-only scanner that was small, could do multiple photos, some scan from albums, some slides,and be covenient to scan while playing on-line poker. The primary purpose is to convert a few thousand family photos from 40+ years of marriage and some family photos and slides going back 100 years.The Epson has done all of that. And very well. The scans are quiet and quick. Several photos may be done at once. Color and B&W may be mixed. It is easy to correct some photo flaws, and to re-orient photos. Once in a while the scanner does not perceive that multiple photos are discrete and captures them as a combined image. This is easily corrected.I would purchase this again.
