DOES NOT WORK ON WINDOWS 10. CUSTOMER SUPPORT A WASTE OF TIME. Purchased two RC-5'S and found out the hard way they do not work on windows 10. I contacted the seller / manufacturer and over a 60 day period I was asked a number of questions about my computers and asked to try different thinks. No luck they will not work on any of my window's 10 computers, these computers were purchased new with windows 10 NOT upgraded. At the end the seller / manufacturer has disappeared and I am stuck with something I really cant use unless I boot up an old computer. I don't understand why they don't have a software patch like most so solve the problem. I do not recommend this if your running Windows 10. READ THE REVIEWS ON AMAZON.COM

Very satisfied so far. I bought it for a temperature control in a cold storage warehouse (4C) for food at work. For now I just test it in my office and outside but seems to work pretty well.
I like the program that came with it. Easy to set parameters. You can export data in text, world, PDF and Excel program. For my use, the PDF is the one i will use. First page is the list of the setting parameter that was used, after you got a graphique with a table listing all temperature taken with the time. You can set a Maximum/Minimum temperature so if you go over/under these the color of the data (red/blue) change for an easy reading, really usefull when your product need to stay in a range of temperature.
The price is really good, there is a good chance that I buy more of these after doing real testing in the warehouse.
The only little down side for my use is that it would be nice to have a little Alarm that would go on when you go over/under the max/min temperature setting.
So I would recommend this product.

I give it three stars only because the documentation is very poor and the software is not user friendly. However, once you figure out how to make it work, it does accurately keep track of temperature over a long period. The unit has worked well for four weeks now, and I can upload the temperature record to a PC. However, like many inexpensive Chinese electronic products, the computer software is opaque and not particularly intuitive. The instructions are just awful. It works, but you need to fight it to get useful data. Overall construction quality seems high. It was shipped on time. I doubt that this unit would survive either water or vibration, but I have not tested it outside of an indoor environment.

I needed to know how cold the garage gets at night, this device did that for me. However I found I can not 'zoom' in to the graph to see temps record by record. Fortunately the database 'historical' display shows the maximum and minimum readings during the recording period, so that sufficed for me.

Permet d'enregistrer les températures selon différents critères. Fonctionne très bien. C'est la troisième unité que j'achète et aucun problème depuis plus d'un an. Logiciel pourrait être un peu plus convivial mais une fois compris, ca va bien.

正式サイトに載っている温度管理ソフトに問題があり、ほとんど使えない。古いバージョンを非公式サイトから入手して使う必要があります。正式サイトのソフトの修正が完了してから購入を検討すべきです。

Good devices, but don't rely upon their waterproofness. Of the eight units I tested, two had battery cover o-rings that weren't full circles, and one of those was mashed into the battery compartment. The USB covers don't fight tightly, and an unexpected desktop coffee spill demonstrated that they don't seal tightly.
Still, these units do a good job of logging their data, and once you understand the software, it's actually pretty easy to use. Simple, and to the point.
Calibration-wise, I tested eight devices immersed in a circulating water-bath (submerged in double ziploc bags) with a NIST calibrated precision thermometer that read 34.5C. The eight units reported:
34.4C 34.4C 34.4C 34.6C
34.7C 34.6C 34.4C 34.4C
so out of the box calibration was pretty good.
Still, these units do a good job of logging their data, and once you understand the software, it's actually pretty easy to use. Simple, and to the point.

This is a good device for the price and the latest software & instructions are easy enough to figure out, but the response time is too slow for many applications, Also, this slow response time is not even mentioned in the listed specifications, so let the buyer beware. Don't expect the actual response time to be anywhere close to the fastest sample interval, which is 10 seconds. Looking at my attached graph, I tested this device by moving it quickly from a freezer to a warm area in the house, which subjected the device to a near-instantaneous change from 0.9°F to 72.0°F. However, the device did NOT quickly respond to this change. In fact, it took almost 25 minutes before it registered within 99% of the new ambient temperature. My Warming Response Curve shows a very predicable "exponential response", and the "time constant, Tau" of this curve, which is the time it takes to reach 63% of the new temperature, is 4.8 minutes. This slow response is because the temperature sensor is encased in the waterproof plastic enclosure, which is a pretty good thermal insulator. If you aren't familiar with this type of response, realize that the same rule applies regardless of the starting and ending temperatures: it will take almost 25 minutes to reach the new temperature regardless of whether the change is from 0° to 72° or from 40° to 50° or from/to any other measurable temperatures. If a unit with faster response is needed, one should consider a device with an external probe such as this one:

1) It will work plugged in to usb port or not, but your computer will heat it up, so don't measure temperature while it's plugged in
2) You have to hit the play button and HOLD IT DOWN for four seconds to start recording
3) You have to plug it into your computer, and use the software to stop recording. Click the stop recording button at the top right bar on the GUI
4) You can't start recording again, until you zero out the data. To do so go to the parameter set menu in the software, and click on the "Save Parameter" button. You don't have to change anything, but this will zero out the data set and allow you to log new data.
That's it. For twenty bucks it works really well. The manufacturer should have spent 20 minutes on a readable quick start guide, but you can't have everything!
