At the given price, these are probably the the best monitor speakers available in India. Sound reproduction is quite good and neutral. The volume extremes are well handled without distortion. Bluetooth connectivity is seamless and hasslefree, but there is scope for improvement in the connectivity department especially when one considers playing high quality music files.
The build of the speakers seems to be sturdy enough, and the cables ( both power and speaker ) provided are quite long and very thick.
The speakers are wonderful when placed correctly in medium/ large room.

Not an audiophile by any means but I can tell the difference between this and my recently returned Logitech Z623. It sounded A LOT more clear and the bass isn't that bad either but i do miss the Z623 due to nice subwoofer that was able to hit the low end bass really well. Currently using my old logitech sub with the speakers right now but ordered some splitters to try other ways to wire it up. With the sub, it makes it sound even better since the low end on the speaker is weak. Overall satisfied

Surprisingly good... I am quite impressed with these little bookshelf speakers.
Personally I am using them connected to the FiiO K5 via RCA cables, playing from a docked FiiO X3II. Works beautifully and sound is nice and clear. Treble and Bass are set neutral and for me the sound is perfect.
I have tested the Bluetooth capabilities as well playing music from an Android tablet and 2 different cellphones. No issues and connection is quick and painless. Sound is still good. You cannot connect multiple tablets/cellphones to them - only one. Once something is connected to it already, the speakers cannot be found when searching for them.
The remote comes in handy and while is not matching the finish and feel of the speakers, I am happy to have it. The speakers are literally set inside a bookshelf cabinet away from my computer and I do not have to get up every time to change the volume or switch between Line in / Bluetooth :). Lazy life, happy life :D.

Great 2.0, Active Bookshelf speaker with balanced look, strong & finished built and good sound reproduction. Value for money in Rs 12-13 K range.
With 2 separate speakers, stereo soundstage and separation is manageable with maintaing distance between speakers, which is missing in most of Bluetooth single piece speakers available now a days.
Added my first Edifier in my many good sounding speakers collection from Bose, Herman Kardon, Yamaha, Polk Audio and Amazon Eco & Eco dot.
While choosing this speaker, keep in mind that this system is using 4 inch driver with tweeter. Which can not be compared with other systems sound reproduction level with larger drivers - 6 inch / 8 inch. Having 4 inch driver, sound reproduction and frequency response is good and giving smooth listening experience.

Thanks to these Edifier speakers that I bought a week ago after long research, my bedroom has become a more interesting place now.
What is Great - Clarity of sound is amazing. Vocals are warm and Crystal Clear. You will love the smoothness of the sound. Mids are perfetly balanced and highs are quite sharp. Bass is not over bearing but good enough. The same songs now sound so new. Love the quality of the sound. And the wooden panels give it a classy look.
What's not so great - I wish they were slightly more louder to completely immerse me with sound of the music. Grill could have been better and audio cables (apart from the thick cable to connect the two speakers) look cheap. And lastly, if you are looking for floor thumping bass, this is not for you. Bluetooth version is old .Why not BT5 ?
Edifier , please bring the big brother S2000 pro to India soon.

I plugged the speakers in, turned them on, and since they didn't show up in my Bluetooth settings, I figured I had to use the remote. I pulled the little tab from the remote (that protects the battery), and tried both clicking the Bluetooth icon, and holding it down. Nothing showed up on my PC. I went to check to see if there was even a battery in the remote (there are no lights anywhere, or anything to indicate whether the remote is working or not). I pulled the little battery tab out, and the battery fell out. I set it back in, and slid the little drawer back in, but it only went part way, and is now stuck. I didn't use any force whatsoever sliding it back in, but there's nothing to indicate which way it should go in, so I'm not sure if it's backwards or not. This is a **terrible** design - the remote is completely useless now, since the battery isn't in, and can't be either pushed in, or brought back out. I've jiggled it every which way, but it's just completely stuck half way.
Ok, the battery drawer finally came out.
Was in backwards.
After a bunch more fiddling with Bluetooth, these are connected.

For $179, these speakers are great and they have a very decent sound with a nicely balanced frequency response. The bass is present (nice and round..not boxy) and the top end is pretty much perfect. At loud volumes, they sound just as good as at low volumes.
Connecting through Bluetooth is easy and it hasn't dropped out at all like it does with another Bluetooth speaker I have after a few hours of play.
I’m sure $1000 speakers would sound better, but for $179 these are a steal! They really do sound pretty good. I’d be curious to hear the next level up that Edifier offers for $100 more.
I recommend these speakers.

Speakers are good..dsp amplifier is not up to mark ..they don't provide the feel of Sony 4.1 home theatres..it is good for solo music listening..but the speakers not perform good to Indian music especially South Indian ..the sound quality is not up to mark when the song has vocals,base and other frequency response at the same time...but speakers are good for listening .. I think for Indian version the price tag is bit high and not make any sense with it's performance..the speakers not get distorted at high volume is a good experience

I'm using these speakers with an Audio Technica AT-LP 120, had a few minutes of exasperation when I couldn't figure out I had the flick the line out switch for proper sound.
At first they sounded very good, yet too quiet to be worth the money.
Then, with that flick of the line switch everything came roaring to life! Wow! Clear, crisp sound, nice clean highs with low, undistorted bass.
I haven't heard music sound so nice in a while! I'm sure that's partially due to listening to uncompressed sound on records, but these speakers really do it justice!
These are definitely worth the money!
At first they sounded very good, yet too quiet to be worth the money.
Then, with that flick of the line switch everything came roaring to life! Wow! Clear, crisp sound, nice clean highs with low, undistorted bass.
I haven't heard music sound so nice in a while! I'm sure that's partially due to listening to uncompressed sound on records, but these speakers really do it justice!
These are definitely worth the money!

The sounds are very warm and good looking even though it smaller than I thought.
one annoying thing about this speaker is a control, the Bluetooth and line-in option only appear on the remote control. if you lost or damage the remote control, the speakers are done.

I knew Edifier wouldn't disappoint, but these speakers are next level. I have a set of Luna 25HD speakers, which are quite lovely bookshelf speakers that look and sound great, however they are a bit soft on the lower frequency response. That said, good speakers... I already had expectations of something similar, perhaps a bit better bass response due to the wooden cabinet over plastic. Set them up with Bluetooth to my Android box in my bedroom, one on the left side of the bed and one on the right, both facing the TV so I could reverse the channels. Plenty of cable length to place the speakers... When I said better bass response... Wow! They are fantastic! Don't get me wrong, you add a subwoofer and they will give your neighbors something else to complain about... I absolutely love these speakers.. I'm going to hook my turntable up to them with a pre-out... They just sound so good! Very clear high frequency and very filling low range.
I played a couple rock, jazz and classical songs on the speakers and enjoyed the separation and tonality... Played the opening scene of Star Trek and found the audio level to be quite immersive and not overpowering.
Higher volumes did distort a bit, but you mostly lost lower frequencies with the high end holding together fairly well..
Overall I would say that these speakers are very well priced for what you get. Plus with Bluetooth connectivity, it gives you much more freedom over the placement of the speakers as more and more devices are coming Bluetooth enabled.

Highs & mids are very good but bass is weak having hollow sound or lacking clarity. To be precise, jazz, Orchestra or percussion part is acceptable at this price, but table, naal etc like instruments' some sound ranges used in hindi songs are anot satisfactory. May be due to 55 hzs minimum limit. But, I must say high & mids sounds are very clear & sweet, but the bass is spoiler. Swan 1080-ivB will score better in bass portion. Though not without flaws in the bass/woofer. Lower limit 45 hzs. Both has very good blue tooth connectivity. Dfx sound equalizer is very helpful. For those who like sounds like me. The.

Really great newbie set up for my new record player. Avoided the speaker wire, amp, and passive speakers by getting these incredibly convenient and premium looking speakers. They feel nice, and the option to remove the front screen is nice.
The bluetooth function makes them incredibly convenient for Spotify, audiobook, or podcast listening. But the bluetooth function is double edged sword because, unless I missed something (completely possible, probably the case), the only way to pair the bluetooth is with the remote that comes in tandem with the speakers. Plastic, thin, small, jet black = easy to lose and without it pairing new devices may prove tough.
Also, on the remote, black speakers, and grey buttons? Just do with black with white buttons so it's easy to see in most light levels.
Criticisms seems to be nit-picking and all the pros certainly out-weigh the few cons. Will recommend.

This Edifier R1700BT gives a pleasant listening pleasure to all kind of music.
Frequency is well balanced so you can tweak to exact taste for your ears.
Every tone of the instrument is clean and so natural sounding. So you feel so fresh and live.

Wow! I'm a bit of an audiophile but certainly not a professional. I love my music. These speakers are great looking, and great sounding! Much more volume than I need for my computer desk. Considering the price point, honestly I have a hard time believing there is something better or that much better for a premium cost. $125 on Black Friday.
Tiny remote (size of an open book of matches) is required to switch inputs which is a bit of a pain. Don't lose it!
UPDATE: If you push in and hold the volume button, it will switch inputs.

This set of mantle or TV stand speakers is very nice and works for a variety of rooms. The Bluetooth works really well, with no lag or skipping if your phone is in the same room. The RCA cables and power cable are top quality. The sound quality is also terrific and has great bass- and mid-tones. We have it connected to our Audio-Technica record player, and really makes the vinyl sound nice. The rubber pads on the feet ensure that any vibrations are eliminated and do not transfer to the surface which they are placed upon. You can place these speakers approximately up to 16 feet apart without any trouble.

It arrived on time, I’ve been using it for about three weeks, before I made a review . Built is wood, great quality. Grill can be removed. Easy to set up. Amazing sound quality, great bass, and balance. I hook up my audio technica. They work great together. The off and on is on the back. The dials are on the side. I wish the remote, was bigger and took regular batteries. I also used the Bluetooth, it was great with Bluetooth. This speaker, can get very loud, but even on loud, it’s still giving great sound, with that disturbance of crazy bass. When it’s on low, it’s still coming medium sound. I hook it up to my tv, the sound was good. But better with Music, and turntable This second best speakers I’ve ever owned. Buy it you won’t be disappointed

I've had these pretty little bookshelves blasting metal since they arrived. They've played 5 albums and are quite reasonable for the price. The sound quality is fine, not nuanced like my fluance and energy bookshelves, but they are self-powered and don't require a receiver/amp. I bought them to plug into an n64 system and improve a tv wall mount setup. They'll do fine.
Some perks: the bass and treble knobs are very sensitive and it was easy to balance them to my liking. Also, the input cables they come with seem to be on par with monoprice quality, nothing special but they work and don;'t seem flimsy. Lastly, the fade in and volume increase is very nice when you don't realize the volume is cranked and you start a track.

Very satisfied of these speakers. They can play extremely loud, I keep mines almost at 10% for everyday use in the kitchen. The sound is nicely balanced, the bass is pretty good in my opinion, not too loud but you can also boost it quite a bit if you like. I listen to many types of music from metal to classic and edm and they perform very very well. They are also bluetooth enabled as a bonus! They were a bit bigger than expected but that's fine since they are also good looking.

These feel a little half baked. The wood cabinets feel and look awesome, and the audio quality is pretty up there, though maybe not "Reference monitor" quality. I'm still a novice with audio production, but they feel a touch.. muddier? than my Mackie CR-3's. Granted these have deeper, bass than the mackies, the midrange feels a little soft and undefined. That could just be my desk resonating that extra bass though, I still need to buy some acoustic foam blocks for these to stand on.
Besides that, they still sound very good, even at very high volumes, and DANG they can get loud for their size.
Now, the remote control, it's not the greatest. It's very slow to respond, and just feels so.. flimsy. And the Bluetooth seems aggressive. my girlfriend had connected to it when we were testing them out upon unboxing. Later, while I was using them through the hardwire input, she was off having a shower, listening to music through her phone connected to another bluetooth speaker on the bathroom counter. Out of nowhere, with neither of us interacting with it, the Edifier speakers re-initialized connection. So that was bothersome.
All in all, they're gorgeous and sound VERY good. Just maaybe not studio quality good, but I'm still just a noob.

However, please do not compare it with speakers costing more than 40k a pair which obviously is not a correct comparison.
These are best for the budding audiophile who wishes to develop a taste for the nuances while hearing instrumental, Soft Indian, Classical etc.
Do not use it for a party as it will not move the floor.
I am running it on my MAC through TIDAL. Getting high quality Indian music on the net is a challenge.Overall I am extremely satisfied with the quality of sound and the looks.

Mids and highs are ok.. it's reasonable at this price. But bass is where i'm quite skeptical about, you see at default, the bass is boomy and not clear for many songs i play. I had to turn the bass all the way down to the lowest.. even at that the bass is noticeable. The bass is factory calibrated to sound as such. As mentioned in the spec sheet, the bass doesn't go lower than 60hz.. And one more problem i had was the remote.. it failed to work from the very start i unboxed it. You can do pretty much everything with the buttons included on the speaker itself but first of all why would include a remote that doesn't work at all.. or is it just me or does anyone else have issues with the remote as well? Im not sure ..but mine's definitely not working.

Built nicely and look great. Sound good but nothing special. Im used to M-Audio and theres so much more punch, body and dynamic sound in them. These sounded a bit more high end (nicer stage definition for example), but slightly thin, boring and not much bass, and even muddy base when turned up. Remote is also tiny.. really not great. But overall a good pair of speakers.
