Матрица действительно S-IPS. Очень доволен этим монитором. Ни с чем лучшим (по цветопередаче) пока не сталкивался.

Но летом лучше использовать Apple. U2711, гад, греется, что буржуйка с антрацитом.

Ужасно

My intended uses for this monitor are photo editing, standard web browsing and desktop work, and some gaming. I was persuaded to buy this monitor because of the large size, high pixel density, and mostly because I saw a 27" iMac at Best Buy which reportedly uses the same panel (albeit with LED backlight) and it looked amazing.I am mostly happy with the monitor but are some major issues that I believe are unexcusable for a product in this price range.1. The anti glare coating. Yes, it's true that it is distracting and hard to look at sometimes. It's especially apparent with solid colors and less prevalent with pictures. It also seems to give my eyes a feeling that they are not focused correctly on the screen, which can be fatiguing. The impressive sharpness that I noted on the iMac monitor I saw appeared to be significantly dimished. This could also be because the Dell is a matte monitor and the iMac was gloss. Which begs the question, if you already are buying a matte monitor, why do you need the anti-glare coating?2. Color management. This is the big one for me, and the reason why I give the monitor two stars. Although Dell provides a U2711.icm profile for use with the monitor, THEY DO NOT INDICATE WHICH MONITOR PRESET IT IS INTENDED TO BE USED WITH. Only the AdobeRGB and sRGB presets on the monitor are calibrated. So, I would assume it is intended to be used with one of those. But, it can only be intended for use with one of them because the two presets look very different from each other (obviously). So, which one is it supposed to be used with?I did some experimenting and found that setting Windows to use the Windows-included generic sRGB profile worked well with the sRGB preset as determined by experimentation with Lightroom and Windows Photo Gallery Viewer. I believe that this setting outputs sRGB color space values to the monitor and the monitor interprets them as sRGB and displays the correct colors based on its own internal look up tables. From my understanding Windows Photo Gallery Viewer will honor a photo's embedded color profile correctly and convert the colors to sRGB, but then will not honor the monitor profile that you have set up in windows. That's OK if you have the sRGB color profile set on the monitor because then the monitor seems to be expecting sRGB. Comparing Windows Photo Gallery Viewer side by side with Lightroom (which does honor monitor profiles) confirms that images can be made to look identical if using these settings. But, if you use the U2711.icm profile that Dell provides, the side by side comparison does not work. I think that this is because Windows Photo Gallery Viewer is still outputting sRGB and Lightroom is now honoring the U2711.icm profile and outputting according to that file. Having Windows Photo Gallery Viewer outputting sRGB is a limitation of the viewer, not something to blame on the monitor. But, not knowing what monitor preset to now use with the U2711.icm profile is a major problem. It means that I CANNOT MAKE USE OF THE WIDE GAMUT OF THE MONITOR. If I use the sRGB setup I previously described, which I think is giving me correct colors, I am then stuck with the limited gamut that sRGB covers. If I want the wider gamut of Adobe RGB, I cannot be sue that the U2711.icm profile is correct for use with the Adobe RGB preset on the monitor.I had many lengthy discussions with Dell support about this, was elevated to 2nd level support, was elevated to engineering support, and still did not receive a satisfactory answer on this.To sum it up, if you are OK with sRGB then this monitor will give you accurate colors in that region (like many calibrated monitors can). If you want the wider gamut AND correct colors, you don't know what you're getting.

I looked for a LOOONNNG time for a monitor to perform how I wanted.1st... 2 problems that you will find MUCH talked about with this monitor:a) Do not worry about the dual DVI cable that will work as Dell ships a working DVI cable with the new monitors. And you DO need that cable. A regular DVI cable will not display.b) Make sure it is the LATEST revision number. Older revs. were faulty and will have alot of the problems other people mention. I believe mine was ver. 08. Build Aug 2011.Before I write anymore, I also want to say that I am an AVID gamer. I play 1st person shooters as well as RPGs and strategy games so an excellent monitor is a must for me.Now, I had a GREAT monitor before this, but I wanted something bigger and better and believed that I could find it. I bought several monitors and TVs and had to return them because they wouldnt do.The thing to remember is that you are not getting better than a good 24" monitor that can run a 1900x1200 resolution or better. Forget it.Obviously, the bigger the monitor, the higher the resolution needs to be. So if you have a 27" monitor sure you can run "HD", but so can any monitor nowadays. If you try and play high detail games on that monitor, you will be losing out BIG TIME.And that is what this monitor does well. It is a 27" monitor with a high enough resolution for its size that you will get all the value of those intense graphics. Any 27" monitor that has a resolution less that this one is only good for surfing the internet, using office, and watching movies. If that is all you will be doing, save ALOT of money and buy a monitor nhalf the price of this one.For me, this is not my dream monitor. I still want MORE vibrant and MORE "WOW", but like I said, I am an avid gamer and I LOVE graphics. I just dont think the next level of technology has gotten there yet.I think if Dell creates an LED monitor with this monitors resolution, it will be damn close, but that's not the case yet.Anti-glare: I have a window at my back so I am grateful for it. NO refelction AT ALL!problem 1) HARD TO CLEAN! You will have a heck of a time cleaning smudges. I dont notice the smudges when playing, but it annoys me when I see them.problem 2)you WILL see a LITTLE bit of greyness (what LOOKS like pixelation) on whites, but it's really forgettable. This is because the antiglare screen is like a hard piece of plastic with a very fine rough finish.Games: Works perfectly. I was a bit nervous going from a 5ms to a 6ms, but I tested a 2ms monitor and NO DIFFERENCE that I could see. High graphic 1st person shooters played smooth and just as well as my old turn based games.I would not worry about the ms rate, but REMEMBER to buy the latest revision monitor. Dont get fooled by some of these companies that are still trying to get rid of "brand new" monitors but OLD revisions with problems.Price: Well, I just had to suck it up. I wanted a great 27" and I had to pay for it. I sold my other monitor for 250.00 and bought this one on Black Friday for 750.00. No tax and including shipping.Power hungry? Yes. Compared to an LED or smaller monitor, it does eat electricity.Monitor features are excellent, height and swivel adjustment: check. HDMI able? yes (though the DVI is better for computer graphics)So bottom line is that YES, this is the BEST 27" monitor you will be able to get until Dell releases an LED monitor or another version of THIS monitor that increases resolution or colors, etc.I wanted to wait for something like that, but made a decision on Black Friday to go ahead and buy this one. When something better comes out, I'll sell this one and get it. ;)

I was looking into IPS monitors for the past few months and didn't plan on getting a 27" due to cost. I waited patiently for the perfect deal and I found this on clearance at Micro Center (for under six hundred) so I decided to go for it. That was the best decision I could have made! I run a custom graphics and web design company so this monitor has been a vast improvement over my dual 22" Acer displays, which were just bargain monitors. A lot of people have complained about the thick anti-glare coating, but it doesn't seem to be a very big deal. The screen can get VERY bright if you need it to which can compensate for the loss of bright whites. The anti-glare coating works very well though. It has a lot of color presets so it was easy to adjust it to Adobe RGB for my purposes. And the contrast is fantastic on these screens. That's the main reason why I wanted to go the IPS route. This screen is feature rich! It has all of the inputs you could possibly need (except display port, but who really needs that?). The stand is the best monitor stand you could ask for. The only thing you can't do is rotate the screen to portrait. I have a really nice Ergotron mount so I was kind of disappointed that I had to remove the stand and put it in storage. The lighted touch menu is very well designed. At first it looked like it was going to be annoying to have to navigate, but it works pretty well, looks sharp, and the lights are designed to turn off when not being used. The main button even has a little motion censor to detect your hand if it gets within a few inches.I have a warranty with Micro Center that allows me to take it back if there is any defect, including a minimum of one dead pixel. I did actually find a dead pixel near the top middle of the screen, but it's so small that I can sometimes barely find it on a white screen. If the screen is any other color it's impossible to find usually. The pixels are so small on this monitor due to the resolution that one dead pixel isn't a big deal. It really isn't even worth it for me to take it up to Micro Center and replace it, but I do have almost 2 more years to make that decision. If you need a 27" IPS panel I would recommend this monitor. You get so much more than just the LCD panel itself as opposed to some of those Korean brands on the market now. A lot of thought went into the design. Overall this monitor was designed very well and is a high quality product through and through.

I bought the dell to supplement my Samsung 215tw that is now 5 years old and I needed a larger work space now that my images are 21mp in size that I work with. I was looking at the 30" dell and hp but bang for the buck this monitor was a better value.I used a 42" tv to preview at print size ( ie view the image at the size prior to printing ) as the Samsung is too small to do so but the tv not accurate enough to edit on, the 27" dell just about as large as 17x22 print that I could do on my 3880 the jump from 21.5 to 27 is very worthwhile and so far the colour accuracy seems on par with the Samsung when calibrated. In use the monitor has similar viewing angles to the Samsung but the pitch is far smaller, you will have to adjust the text sizes in most apps for them to be usable and this will take getting some used to. Out of the box I set up the monior using the display port from my 5850, worked fine with no issues, shows the boot screen and I get the full resolution in wide gamut. The anti glare coating is not as bad as I thought it would be, similar to the Samsung ( but not as good ) . There is a little grittiness but nothing overly disturbing and in my room very necessary to stop glare from a large window rear of my desks position. It is no where as bad as some make it out to be and far better for editing work than a glossy screen but since it is not glossy it does not have the same PoP as say the apple cinema display. I'm guessing this is what the glossy vs matte complaint is aboutI used a colormunki to calibrate the display in both custom and adobe modes, with the dynamic contrast turned off in both, one thing I did notice is a very slight colour shift on the far left corner, in calibrating I measured that part and while displaying the colour charts it goes away, same on a forced white screen it goes away but say in Firefox or IE I see the shift, it also goes away when increasing the black light brightness which is far to bright for editing use by default ( I use 100 Cd/m2 ). It is a slight miss uniformity in the back light when the brightness is dropped that low but not bad enough to send it back as I am a bit more sensitive to this than most but it does no show up when photo editing or any other situation when any other colour is displayed, this is not the same as a tint.I play some fps games including bfbc2 and bf3 and what I did notice is the my k/d ratio got worse instantly, it's definitely the screen and while I can not see any input lag I do see the results vs the much lower lag LCD tv and both were at the same resolution. This is the first real negative, this is not a screen for hardcore gamers and I'm used to large screens so it is not just a re adjustment. I will say I have never seen any games look so good, the wide gamut display makes them so much better, I just wish the input lag was a bit lower, the input lag just adds to the entire system lag and anything one can do to reduce that helps if your a competition gamer, but everyone else will love the wonderful new colour experience.I will rate the monitor a 4, slight back light uniformity issues seem to be the norm ( this is not the tint others complain about as it is not constant ) and the high input lag the only real minus points. Great colour rendering and resolution, screen size matches the resolution well, usable colour accuracy when calibrated making it a good value if your photo editing and printing, for general use and movie watching, even for general gaming where the screen quality just outclasses most other displays, but if your getting 15 ms to your bf3 server ping times and are used to no input lag screens this is not the screen for you.

First, full disclosure: I've tried this monitor with a couple macs. Also in general I'm a big fan of Dell monitors, I have two right now at home (where I do a lot of photo image processing) and I've had nothing but Dell monitors at work for years (where I do scientific image processing). I've never had a complaint about their monitors, in general the Ultrasharp series are great quality for a good price. On to this monitor: I've had two of these now, and while I really like the size and resolution I think I'm going to give up. The first one had a few bad pixels, pretty bad backlight bleedthrough in one corner (and noticeable in all 4 corners) and one dark corner. (How do you get a corner to have bleedthrough when it's dark and be dark when it's light?) On that one the top layer of the screen also seemed to not fit quite right, it would make a pop sound when I tried to wipe the screen like it was moving or warped. The second one had much more severe backlight bleedthough in only one corner, and then one spot along the top of the screen. It was visible in normal computer use, not just dark scenes. So either I'm extremely unlucky or the quality control is just not what it should be. None of the other Dell monitors I've used have had a single bad pixel or this level of bleedthrough. And then there's the truly puzzling anti-glare coating. It's not a matte finish like the other Dell monitors I've had, it's more coarse and kind of sparkly. When the screen is bright it's really annoying, when there's any room light it makes the screen look washed out. It's intolerable for photo editing, which is what I got this monitor for -- it makes my images look noisy and speckled. And again, all of this is in comparison to other Dell monitors. I'd never considered getting a glossy screen for photo editing before looking at photos on this screen, but that would be better than this. Best would be a matte finish like their older monitors had.I got this monitor for photo editing because of the resolution, size, and color calibration. But the uneven backlight & bleedthrough and sparkly coating make it entirely unsuitable for that. I guess it's going back.A couple updates:First: I bought this direct from Dell, and I'd have to say their customer service is now so bad that I'm not sure how they stay in business. I won't bore you with the details (what I'm writing here it a tiny fraction but already more than enough) -- you can find many stories across the web about the several hour long calls with infinite transfers until someone finally accidentally hangs up on you. Count on any interaction with them taking several hours spread out over a few days before you finally end up talking to a US based rep who can actually do something (several of the overseas reps told me outright that they are not authorized to do anything other than charge you more money or transfer you).Anyway, when I finally got to a US based rep when I called about the problems with the second monitor, he said no problem just return it and they'd issue a full refund. Quite nice of them I thought. Only they never issued the refund, and when I'd call or email no one could ever help. I finally had to take it up with my credit card company, and they issued a full refund after looking over the tracking information and (with me on the line) talking to a Dell rep who was so unhelpful that the bank rep hung up on him. They gave Dell something like 45 days to respond, which Dell never did, so the refund became permanent. After that Dell contacted me again asking if it was ok for them to charge me again now that the bank has issued me refund. (?!?) The bank/credit card company was actually _very_ unhappy that Dell contacted me again after the fact, saying that it violated their contract with the credit card company, and insisted that Dell not contact me again. (Which they have not.) So yeah, Dell seems barely functional these days both in terms of quality control and customer service. That's a bad combination.Second, in case anyone's wondering if the U3011 has these same problems (I was): I'm using a Dell U3011 part of the time at work now. It has the same annoying anti-glare coating, but the backlight uniformity seems much better. Also, since the pixels are larger on the U3011, you're not tempted to sit as close, so I don't notice the antiglare coating on it as much -- it gives me the impression that it's not as bad, but I think it's just that I'm sitting further away. I still think it would annoy me when it came to photo editing, and I don't think I'd get one for that, but in other use it's not that noticeable.

It took me all afternoon to get this working at full 2560x1440 resolution, because I didn't realize that the DVI-D port on my HP Elitebook docking station couldn't get to that resolution, and I instead had to go and get a DisplayPort cable. Figuring that all out took me a lot of research online and two calls to HP and one to Dell. I don't blame Dell for my issue, but their tech support could have been more helpful. He took 20 minutes gathering all kinds of information from me, and then told me that he couldn't help me because he thought it was an HP issue and not a Dell one. It turned out that he was right, but he could have been more helpful. At very least, I came close to returning the monitor and more help on his part could have prevented that. Once I did get it working at the full resolution, it is awesome.Real Estate. This monitor has about the same number of pixels as 4 lower resolution screens. You literally can arrange four windows on one screen and have each one of them be fully readable and editable.Quality. The all-around quality of this monitor is great. I have it sitting next to a very nice 24 inch Dell that I bought last year, and this one is noticeably nicer. It looks great. Great contrast, color representation, and viewing angle. The build quality is also much nicer than my other monitors (even the other HP).I highly recommend this monitor. If Dell comes out with an LED lit 30", I would check that one out instead, but otherwise this one is pretty much perfect. Do a quick search for U3013H or U3013HM to see if it exists yet before buying this one. The price tag on these high resolution monitors is high, but considering how much more you can do with it, it is worth it. A lot of people will be able to get by with just one of these instead of having to buy 2 standard HD monitors. It is also a lot cheaper than the similar monitor from Apple.

After working on a 2009 iMac and a 2012 iMac, I got this for my wife, thinking that $900 would get me something in the same ballpark. Wow, was I wrong. This display is similar to my Hanns-G 28" display that I paid $300 for, five years ago. The picture is grainy and unimpressive. I put up some hi-res 2560x1440 wallpapers from SLR cameras, and it was pathetic and sad. I feel like I threw away the money. I spent an hour trying to get the calibration working that said was so good... and it was working the whole time, I was just expecting something... much better. I felt like I was looking at a TFT display from the 90's.. it ruined the wallpapers from interfacelift... it disrespected the art.If you want a good 27" display, spend a little more and get an Apple cinema/thunderbolt display. The colors are real, and the picture will stun you every time you sit down. This is a hard reminder that Dell is still just a PC manufacturer, no more. Cheap PCs at that. If you think this display is nice, you're missing out on what Mac users have been enjoying for decades. I'm guessing the people that say this is a good display just haven't been in front of a good display before. Even the ten year old SGI workstations I used to use for CG were eons better than this... and those were CRTs.I'm considering just using my 2009 iMac as a display for her docking station (yes, target display mode can be done with one click on the keyboard). I couldn't believe the massive screen door effect I had on a top-end PC monitor in the year 2013. Dell... are you even trying?

There is a problem with most modern dell monitors, this has personally happened to me with 2 Dell monitors and it happended to many others. Just search "dell u2711 entering power savings mode". The problem is that the monitor has a power savings mode that is separate from the PC. It used to be that PCs put moitors to sleep, but Dell and other companies decided that it is more energy efficient to allow the monitors to do so themselves. Furthermore, not only do they put themselves to sleep, they also put the videocard to sleep (Display Port can do this, I'm not sure how it's done via DVI, it's probably some clock signal, but this problem occurs with both) You can easily tell this is happening if you have 2 monitors, they both go to sleep. If you unplug the Dell (from the PC), the other monitor will wake up after a minute, if you plug it back in, both monitors go to sleep instantly. There are no solutions and there is no way to recover aside from plugging in another monitor.I urge you to stay away from Dell monitors until they have a definitive answer. The best monitors I've had were Samsung Syncmaster. I never used one beyond 24" and I don't know if they have any of these power savings features, but they are extremely durable, I've dropped them, directly hit the active display with metal bars (machine shop at work) and they did not have a single dead pixel.EDIT:I figured out why the dual link DVI connection was putting the videocard to sleep. I was using a Passive DP to DVI adapter (PC -> Passive PC Display port to DL DVI adapter -> DL DVI to monitor). I attempted a test, connecting and disconnecting the Passive PC Display port to DL DVI adapter (passive means that it doesn't generate an independent clock, thus you can only have 2 passive adapters or 2 monitors at most on a videocard). During this test, I did not have the adapter plugged in to anything, it was just connecting and disconnecting it from the DVI cable that is connected to the powered Dell monitor. I did not think it would do anything, BUT it turned on and off the power savings mode on the dell monitor.Luckily I had a DVI output port on my videocard (these are beign phased out with entirely DisplayPort videocards) and I plugged the monitor into it. Instatly, the monitor woke up. It has not entered this power savings mode yet.So if you have a DVI port on your card, this monitor may work for you, but if you have one of the newer DP only videocards, DO NOT get this or any other DELL monitor. (If you already have this monitor, take a look at getting an ACTIVE DP to DVI Adapter - ~$70, may be cheaper now), because these simulate DVI clock signals, that MAY not put your monitor to sleep (I haven't tested this)

After looking at all the 27" 2560x1440 monitors, I chose this one (the Dell U2711) based on features and photos, without having seen one in person. It has enough inputs to plug in all my computers at once, plus an HDMI input for a hypothetical Blu-ray player that I have not bought yet, but who knows what the future holds? Plus, a university mailing list that I asked for recommendations said that Dell brand LCDs were very good, superior to many other brands.I preferred this monitor (Dell) over the 27" Apple Cinema Display because I don't like glossy screens.I (initially) preferred this monitor over the 27" HP ZR2740w because Dell was a highly rated brand according to my schoolmates, and because the HP lacks an HDMI input, and many other inputs. The Dell has a lot more inputs. And they both weigh almost the same amount, 23.0 or 23.1 lbs. When I first turned on the display, I was instantly disappointed. In a pitch black room, white areas look pure white. If there is any ambient light in the room (worst of all daylight), the light scatters off the anti-glare coating and makes white areas look a drab gray. It looks depressing, and I don't get over it. Also, the anti-glare coating makes small font black letters on a white background look fuzzy and almost blurry. The anti-glare coating has a sort of sandy texture, it is like translucent sand.I had to return this Dell monitor.I replaced it with an HP ZR2740w instead (also 27", same resolution, same IPS panel internal, in fact). Unfortunately, the HP doesn't have HDMI. Even more unfortunately, the HP does not work out-of-the-box with my MacBook Pro. I have three monitor adapters for my MacBook Pro: One converts to VGA (HP monitor has no input), one converts to single-link DVI (HP monitor won't display it), and one converts to DisplayPort (HP monitor won't display it). I either need to buy a dual-link DVI adapter for $100 (which I am afraid may not support DRM, HDCP), or I need to buy a different DisplayPort adapter.I wish the Dell didn't look so bad, because it was superior in every other way.

Hello,I got two of these to replace my older two 24" monitor setup (only one of them was color corrected). These are a wonder to your eye.Color quality is awesome.Build quality is awesome.Black level is best I've seen in LCD yet ...Brightness is good, but I keep it lower down (my room is dark).Color accuracy is really good too, though calibration is a bit of a struggle. For the price I can't think of any better. Granted you can go Korean and get Yamakasi Catleap (or Achieva Shimian or Auria EQ276W), those have the same (one gen older) panel LM270WQ1, where these Dells have LM270WQ2 ... you likely wont' know the difference.USBs are useful, but I don't use them much, the card reader may be too, but I had one already. There is a newer model, but that's an extra $300 ... couldn't fork that over for two of them.I wish these had USB 3.0 ports like the new ones, but hay I think these came out before 3.0 existed. These don't tilt to portrait like the smaller 24" dells, but I doubt I'd want to do that, these are too massive for portraits.Resolution is impressive.I had no issues buying refurbished (from Amazon warehouse), this time (had issues with other products though).Highly recommended to anyone who's color-oriented ... if you're not, get the newer U2713hm, you get newer tech but a bit less color goodness. (or U2713 (non-hm) for full color but quite ab it more $)Cheers.

First let me emphasize that I don't use this in a color-critical environment. If you're buying this display for a professional setting, you should look elsewhere for advice. Now that we've got that out of the way, let's talk about the display. I bought it to get more accurate and subtle colors when editing photographs, as well as get a high resolution display. It accomplishes both goals extremely well. Going back through photos, the increase in detail and depth is immediately appreciable. Because I don't do color-critical work (no paid photography at all, in fact), I don't think this monitor will improve my workflow - but it will certainly make it more pleasurable. As far as other uses go, it's great all around. If you enjoy playing games, they'll look excellent on this display. I haven't noticed any problems with the refresh rate yet, and I notice its greater color gambit really helps with the mood games try to set. The darker shades in Dead Space are a lot easier to appreciate when the display can render a greater range between "almost black" and "black." Movies also look great, of course. I find video that looked perfectly fine on my 1080P (1920 x 1080) screen, looks a little blurrier here, but that's to be expected. All in all, I can say that this monitor looks a lot better than my previous one. That is probably due to some combination of the increased color space and the increased resolution. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and am seriously considering getting another in a few months.

The Dell U2711 is one of the best monitor's for photo editing or any detailed work when you want color correct photo's on the market . I have to tell you the the mistake these people make when buying this monitor the uninformed 1 star reviews unplug their monitor and unhook the DVI-Cable then rehook this monitor up with the "old DVI cable" .." NEWS FLASH " The monitor comes with a DVI-cable and it's a dual link DVI cable "Lamon's terms it looks the same on the outside look inside the plug it has twice as many pins as your old DVI cable . Why ? It's a dual DVI-Cable despite it's name it's a single cable with twice as many pins .. What's the difference you might ask ? Sparkles on white can't read the text colors off and can't get to max resolution and that's where this was designed to run 2560 X 1440 ..Don't hook up your old DVI- cable it's a single link don't use it follow the instructions in the box .. Next make sure you have a newer video card in at least 32bits GT 550 TI ,GT460 or even GT 240 would be fine..Don't use the HDMI it's way less defination than your dual link DVI cable and it becomes a one starr review ..The monitor settings should be on Adobe RGB and your LIGHTROOM 4 and any adobe should also be set to prophoto RGB this renders more colors for editing .. I bought the spyder 4 elite pro and the monitor settings only needed a tweak of brightness 16 down and a slight contrast 50 adjustment colors were spot on .. This monitor is tack sharp and the colors are excellent HD videos look real good too :D I would recommend this over anything especially at this price it's too bad alot of reviewers didn't hook this up right it's like giving some caveman advanced technology and they didn't know how to use it ..

I have a older Dell monitor that I replaced with this one...after reading many reviews and contemplating the purchase of the U2410, I am glad i purchased this one new. I many be a bit pessimistic but the 3 year warranty is what made me comfortable making the purchase rather than saving a few bucks at Warehouse Deals or used and then buying a one year Square Trade warranty. When at first connecting the monitor to my Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro I used the DVI dual link cable that came in the box...it only gave me a maximum resolution of 1920x1200. What a disappointment. After some extensive research and coming across a post made me realize that no one that reviewed the monitor with a Mac needed to purchase a mini displayport to displayport cable that would deliver the correct amount of digital information to the monitor from the Mac $21.85 shipped USPS Express from [...]. The expensive Apple answer of the dual link adapter certainly would not have worked any better or at all.

I don't like the menu, it's split up into too many categories and it's difficult to tweak things without having to click around and find other menus, the color controls in particular I find too complicated. I could not ever get the right color temperature, and I feel like the whites are too blown out no matter what I do, and the overall video contrast/gain levels don't work well, the images just seem muddy and dull, and adjusting brightness/contrast doesn't help at all - I boosted contrast all the way up and it still doesn't look right. The color/gain presets are all terrible. I'm surprised for the price of this monitor that it's so problematic. I wanted to use it as a video output monitor to check color levels and video levels, and for that purpose I find it unacceptable. I'm returning it and buying a different monitor elsewhere.

While I do not really like Dell PCs, their monitors have always been very good, I own several. The image and color quality on this monitor are excellent. Plenty of connections, read the specs, it's all there.Use this with a Mac, a Windows PC and Linux. Love the Desktop space.Edit: I had previously written that the display is 16x10. It is not. It is 16x9. Thanks to Mark for pointing this out.Minor flaws:- I loved the input selection on my old Dell monitors: A button to quickly cycle through all inputs. With this one you have to enter the on-screen menu and then switch buttons to select.- It's bright, very bright. Almost too bright. At night, I wish the backlight could be turned down more.- A greater backward tilt angle would be welcome in order to make cable connections more easy. Not really a flaw of the monitor: Full resolution without fuzziness requires a proper Dual-Link DVI or DisplayPort cable (both included) and graphics card support. I have a Radeon HD 6850 which is sufficient.

I order that recently. However, I find that there is one red dead pixel on the center of the screen. Unfortunately, the location of the dead pixel is too noticeable, it would show up as long as you display black or dark color in that area (so you would definitely see that when you boot or shutdown the machine). After a two days usage and I feel it is too annoy and decide to change that. Fortunately I bought that from Amazon (although a little more expensive sometimes), they send another monitor in one day shipping 2 hours after I file the return request. That is one reason I give the product 2 stars.Other parts of monitor is good. Anti-glare is fine, heat is fine, noise is fine. I am worried when I read other reviews, but turn out I don't see any problem of those. Color is very good, font is sharp. I use windows 8, gtx 680. I tried display port and D-DVI.I will keep update my status, wait for my new monitor tomorrow.10/29/2012 Updated:I got a replacement from Amazon in the second day. The replacement is new monitor. So far it is good without any problem.

First off let me start that I am a full time CAD designer. The one thing I love about this monitor is the resolution. 2560x1440 is so unbelievably roomy. This thing has more screen real estate than any other single monitor can offer. I would absolutely not recommend this monitor for everyday computing, as you can have a real strain in your neck from panning over constantly while you're typing in Word at full screen. This thing is massive and should only be used for a true purpose. Having said that, a 27" monitor that is lower res (such as 1920x1080 or even 1920x1200) would be much better for everyday use since you could have it further back away from you and still see things clearly due to the lower resolution within the same amount of physical space. The Dell U2711 has such a high resolution, when utilizing this thing at native res, text and MS Windows components appear too small to handle. This is absolutely great for a guy that uses CAD design since I can have more of my workspace visible within the same physical 27" space, hence the comment about using it with a true purpose. The other thing I love love love about this monitor is the color. I have never in my life worked on a monitor that illuminates colors as bright and vivid as this monitor. Reds are the brightest of reds. Greens are the brightest of greens. Yellows are the brightest of yellows. Colors are so enriched and fluid it is beyond amazing. I don't even like working at home anymore on my dual monitors because the colors are far inferior to this model Dell display. Especially with my profession dealing with large amounts of contrasting colors and 3D renderings. I could only imagine what photo editing would be like for a professional. On to the lacking part. First, the refresh rate. Not great, but still good. It doesn't bother me at all since I'm not using the monitor for gaming or video, however when I pan around in my CAD models, it isn't as smooth as I feel this monitor COULD be. And due to my lack of knowledge in monitor science, it very well could be the best you can get. I'm not real sure but I do know that it's not my computer trying to keep up since I work off a brand new $4k CAD workstation. The other really really really small gripe would be the texture of the screen itself on a white background. As in other reviews, yes, IF YOU ARE PICKY and you are really paying attention there is some crystallization effect. But honestly it's just so minor to worry about. I don't know if there's any monitor that completely can get away from that. I do know there is zero "hazing" effect like your cheap analog D-Sub connection monitors from Acer are. Blacks are deep, and colors are bright, that's all that matters to me. For the money my company spent on it, I would honestly recommend this thing to anyone who would be using it for a true professional purpose. I hope my humble review helps some of you out in your decision.- Tannar

I like the U2711. The monitor has good options to configure its display and its physical placement. It took me some time to get used to the large display. It has pixels everywhere, and all of them work. This was a good upgrade from my previous 24" monitor. With its resolution, it's easy to have documents side by side. I had hoped to be wowed by the U2711's IPS display over my old TFT; I'm merely pleased. The anti-glare coating is something brought up in other reviews. I was worried going in, and it's the place that has the hardest balance between different design goals. I find the coating noticeable with a static, bright background. It very much disappears from my awareness with darker backgrounds or video. I'm not a professional artist, so I don't have any comments around color. I like the matte look, so I find the anti-glare coating works fine for me.

I bought this monitor to have an apple Cinema Display equivalent that I could share between my MacBook Pro and Windows 7 PC. I had to but a new video adapter to meet the Dual-channel DVI requirement for full resolution. I used the AMD Radeon HD 7750. I plug the Mac into the DisplayPort and the win pc into one of the DVI ports. My only gripe is the difficulty in switching between input sources. On my old Sony Premier Pro, it was a single button press. On the Dell it's a half-dozen.

I'm incredibly happy I bought this, even if it cost more than I hoped to spend. My last monitor was a Dell 23 or 24" and it started to die on me after 4 years so it was time to upgrade. I first tried a ViewSonic, but quickly returned it and then decided to try this one. Thrilled that I did. From the first moment I connected it and booted the PC, the screen was crisp and clear. I didn't even need to tune it to improve upon perfection. This is well worth the money and has my highest recommendation.

I purchased this unit as a refurbished model. It appeared DOA through the display port. I was convinced I was "doing something wrong" so I began scanning forums for guidance. I discovered a host of bad review regarding DELL refurbished monitors, with one user even claiming to have had 4 monitors of this model go bad in as many months. I have contacted the seller and indicated that I would simply like to return it for a refund given this new information and the state of monitor I received. I don't want to be like this other fellow that received 4 bad ones. This experience speaks to short sightedness on the part of the manufacturer which I speculate did not adequately test this monitor before sending it back out. I just hope some poor fool out there doesn't get my monitor and has his time similarly wasted. This is my first and last DELL experience.

After needing to swap back and forth from Mac to a PC on a more regular basis, I opted to swap from my Thunderbolt displays to this monitor. After using it for about a month I could not be happier. The contrast is much better than the Thunderbolt display but more than anything it is an anti-glare display compared to the extremely high gloss than the Thunderbolt display. In addition the dell monitor adjust to more angles and heights. While this monitor may not be as sleek at the Apple monitor, it is more affordable and offers more features with better tech specs. I would highly recommend this monitor. The only regret I have is that I didn't purchase the 30in version of this monitor!

Shortly after I got this monitor, I realized it was defective (it flickered). To make a long story short, it was impossible to do anything about this. I now have an $800 paper weight. Dell will not honor the warranty because I did not buy from them. I've tried and tried to discern who, exactly, I bought this from at Amazon, to no avail. I wasted a LOT of money and a LOT of time on this item. Never again. If you buy from Amazon, beware...and be sure you buy an extra warranty. I understand that Dell is not alone in leaving customers out to dry, unless they buy from them and pay retail.

In other reviews customers mentioned the screen being too bright, etc. Using the preset modes coupled with the ability to manually adjust things like picture intensity, contrast and much more provides the user with just the right combination of settings for viewing pleasure. The asking price by this seller makes this a real deal. This is one of Dell's top of the line monitors featuring Picture-In-Picture, and lots more for the user that is looking for that one device that will allow for multiple uses. The 2560 X 1440 resolution coupled with superior colors makes this the must monitor to have.

I ended up return the U2711 and got the U3011. The U3011 is overall better than the U27011, but it also cost $400 more. I just don't like the bezels with dual monitors otherwise a dual U2412 is a much better bang for your $$$.

In all other aspects it's a great monitor and exceeds all others I've tried. The colors are amazing, the stand is solid, and the brightness is perfect for me. You really should go see it in person somewhere before you buy it. You may or may not care about the glare coating but you should see it before you buy it. It's very hard to describe and for a lot of people I'm sure it's a total non issues. For others it's certainly a deal-breaker. I can live with it and don't regret my purchase but it is clearly sparkly and visible, particularly on white. I won't return it but I probably won't buy another.
