I bought this router because I had a good experience with DIR-655. This did not have the same signal strength in my opinion. Did I have a lot of problems with it? NO, it is an OK router.

I used to get get bumped off the internet when more than six of my neighbors logged on or when I had more than five devices hooked up. With my refurbished D-Link DIR-615, I have not been bumped off since.

At first, it had serious problems. The speed was dramatically slowing down as days passed by.Then i did firmware update and the problem fixed.Now it works fine.

Need to reboot once in week otherwise the performance is solid. Downgrading it to 3 stars becaause of the reboot. Had used DIR 615 Brand new which did not had this problem !This new 615 router is certainly value for money

Since setting up this router several months ago, I've had nothing but trouble.The router requires a re-boot at least twice each day. The router cuts off for no apparent reason. The router cuts off when the Internet is not being used; when it's being used minimally; and when it's being used to download. It doesn't matter. It will cut off.The router is properly set up, and I know how to set up a wireless network. Thus, user error cannot be blamed. (Indeed, tonight I replaced the D-Link wither another router. No problems.)I hate this thing, and it's the biggest piece-of-junk electronic device I've ever purchased.Avoid this company and device like the plague.

Don't waste your money. I am forced to reset the router at least once a day. The good thing about this is it only takes 30 seconds, or so, to reboot. I pray for the day when wireless routers are both stable and inexpensive. Until then I guess it's not that much trouble to reset the thing, considering its cheap price. Pay for what you get I suppose.

I bought this router and, after the fact, was curious to see how it was rated on Amazon. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews on here. I don't normally write reviews, but I just wanted to clarify some points raised in other reviews on here.First, many of these reviews, both good and bad, were written one to two years ago. The latest firmware has resolved some of the complaints I've seen on here. One complaint was that it was not possible to use the fast N connection if you simultaneously have G devices running. In other words, having one G device connected to the router forced any other N capable devices to run at G speed. While that may have been a problem in the past, the latest firmware has made it possible to have both types of devices running simultaneously at their respective speeds.Set up was REALLY, REALLY easy. I didn't even use the Quick Install CD that came with it. I had my desktop (wired connection), two laptops, Vonage, a Wii, and a PS3 all set up to run on this router in less than 20 minutes.I've also seen complaints that the router gets too hot. This has not been my experience with it. I've had other D-Link routers before that got really hot, but this one's fine.It's a really good router and a killer value at $49.95. If you have a handful of devices, want to do some online gaming wirelessly, stream Netflix to your TV, surf the internet, etc. then this router is an excellent choice.

I bought this router to increase coverage over a two-story home and to cure some deadspots in the home which were 60+ feet away from the current router. It worked! Once I have time to install a more central outlet for TimeWarner cable, I am sure we will have 4x4 coverage over the whole house and perhaps outside as well. The instructions are clear and installation went without a problem. I followed the directions as prescribed on the included CD. Within 10 minutes we were back online. My wired PC's, wireless HP printer, iPad and iPhone all connected - noooo problem.

After a recent purchase of a Dell netbook, I needed a wireless router. I noticed that this was the same one on the Microsoft Store web site but was cheaper through Amazon, so I bought this one. It arrived sooner than expected and has been working well for the 2 or 3 weeks I have had it. I had someone else set it up and I heard a few complaints about that but using it has been easy. I would buy it again and would recommend it to a friend.

I ordered this wireless router for a friend and set it up on his existing cable internet service. This is a fine wired and wireless solution. No problems, just follow the directions. The target for the wireless was a new hp laptop and everything just worked including the security settings.

Don't waste your time with this router. There are numberous documented installation issues on the Internet and the Customer Support was a total waste of time.... Attempting to upgrade from LinkSys to D-Link, after nearly 20 hours attempting to install the router I've decided to return the merchandise.

Have had this router for 1 week. Got connected but now my printer won't print from my lap tops. Call customer service and the first person I got was very hard to understand, he cut me off. Second person told me they only help with internet connection, not printers even though they are running through their router. Not helpful at all. Wish I had bought another Linksys to replace my Linksys old router. The only reason I replaced it was it was getting old and download speeds keep varying. It had lasted me a long time, Linksys had worked great during the 5 years or so that I had it. What is weird is in D links' questions and answers about getting the printers to work they said if you need assistance to call tech support-right!

This router has several bugs and D-Link doesn't even bother fixing them by releasing a better firmware. If you read the forums, you will find out yourself about the problems and the frustration of the users. Also the technical support of D-Link operating from India is useless, they will waste your time, but the problem will stay there. In a nutshell, don't buy this router unless you want to face all those known issues.

This is my 2nd router! Exact same model. I bought one for myself at home, loved it so much I gave one to my parents. For DSL there are some extra steps you have to go thru, google the steps, but other than that it's great, and a great price!

I have had this router for 4 months and it performs solidly. The wireless signal can be wacky andf drop off periodically but I hardly use the wireless. I have had good luck with D-Link products. It was super easy to set up. I use it for my desktop computer, Vonage, TiVo, and laptop.

Very pleased with product at first? but lately been dropping connection to comcast? Not sure it's a router problem because it always has EXCELLENT SIGNAL STRENGTH & says it's connected? So computer & router are talking to ea other but router & ISP aren't?

D-Link is a brand I've been wanting to try for a long time and I've always heard good things about them. I had a Belkin router just before I bought this one and it was slow as molasses compared to the D-Link! This router is quick, simple, and has a bunch of features that I really don't use cause I don't need them, but if you are a gamer like me then you can appreciate the options when you run into a snag down the road and need to filter an address or unblock a port or whatever you need to do. This performs well and it looks great cosmetically. I can't think of any real negatives for my uses for it. I'm sure it doesn't have every option that some people want, but for MMOs and simple downloading it works fine.

The router functioned very well for the period it actually turned on. It wasn't terrible to set up. This was my first home networking experience and I managed to both set it up physically and connect it to two computers, my ps3, and my network Brother printer without a problem. I also was able to secure it quite easily. I had few problems throughout the router's lifetime, but the lifetime only lasted one year and just over one month.I purchased the router late November of 2008, and it died January 2010.I had to disconnect the router at one point. When I reconnected it, it refused to turn on again. I tried to plug it in with five different outlets in the house (I couldn't believe it'd died) and the router proved to be dead. Its unacceptable to have a product fail two months after its purchased-conveniently just outside its warranty period. I would recommend steering away from D-link entirely. A family member also purchased the DIR 625, and that one failed within the warranty period. He was able to get a scratched up refurbished model to replace his faulty one. I would highly recommend steering away from D-link entirely and buying a router from a company that provides a lower failure rate. I'm currently going to try my luck with a linksys wrt160. I'll add that review when I've spent enough time with it to provide useful info.

I purchased the D-Link DIR-615 (Rev E) to replace/upgrade an older D-Link wireless G router that had been in service for about six years. This version (Rev E) of the DIR-615 is rock steady with no drop outs. It works fine in mixed mode connected to both my G devices and N devices. I see no performance issues when connected to both types of devices at the same time. Our Wii and Mac Airbook connect via G wireless and the Dell laptop and wireless WiFi Blu-ray player connect via N wireless. The set up was easy and straight forward. I did not use the supplied set up CD. I went into the set up via my browser by entering the address of the router. For the price, this is a great N router.

You get what you pay for when it comes to a wireless router. This piece of junk got me 1.5Mbps, I replaced it with a Linksys E2000 and now get 13.5 Mbps! Spend a little more and get the speeds you are paying your ISP for!!!!!

Works perfectly. Have had no problems since set up. A little trouble seting up my VOIP but it turned out it was on the service providers settings. I have not had any trouble no reseting has worked flawlessly. Has much better range than my old Lynksys 54G router.

I bought this router in the summer of 2008 so I've been using it constantly for the past year and a half. I've had zero issues with the router; in fact it was the first router I've bought in the past 10 years that I didn't have to reset manually once in a while. It lasts months without requiring reboots. For that I love this router.It was great to use in my studio apartment because everything was in the same room -- never lost a connection to the wifi so I had no idea how weak the signal strength was until I moved to a 1BR apartment with a bedroom that's about 30-40 feet from my router setup (with only about 2 walls blocking a direct shot). I don't get a connection to it with my iPhone from the bedroom; nor did I get a connection with a wireless-N Linksys card. I do, however, get a shoddy connection to it with my Macbook Pro (go figure) so I went and ordered the D-link indoor antenna signal improver (ANT24-0230) and I'm REALLY hoping it works. I also ordered the D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N PCI Express Desktop Adapter but I'm not really optimistic it's gonna work well with my 64-bit Windows 7 setup (btw why the heck can't manufacturers get on this crap already?).Overall, great value for the price and you get a real rock-solid router -- signal strength absolutely blows, however.

used one for 5 years never had a minutes trouble plays well with all wirelessand wired my network has 8 devices so i used all 4 ports used one to connect to switch to carry the rest of devices plays well with netflix roku box and my dvrnever had a drop out range was exceptional for wireless devices could use laptop up to 300 feet from router no problem router was inside behind brick wall when i tried this with laptop in front yard

There are so many things that can go wrong in a network, you shouldn't have to worry about your router being one of them. That should be the stable constant amongst all the variable 802/a/b/n/g drivers, adaptors, certificates, wpa, blah, blah, etc. This product falls short. My son spent 4 hours trying to install this thing until I came home and finally installed it.Complaint 1: While setting it up with the CD, it froze and never "installed." So I had to use the manual-install directions, which are completely different than CD directions. It worked great...for about 2 hours.Complaint 2: Security. About every third time any device tries to get on the network, it can't. Its always a different problem. I end up having to start from stratch (uninstall all settings, adaptors, default the router, reset the modem) Which means I need a new security key for each computer. So I can't use anything above WEP because I don't want to have people constantly pasting or typing in 50 digit keys every few hours. With WEP I can pick the same, memorable password.Complaint 3: I figured it must need a firmware upgrade, so using the configuration utility, I clicked "Check for Update." Nada. No update available. Fair enough, I already have the C1 revision. But in fact, there is a firmware update available, manually, through their website. Flashed it. Now it works for about 3X as long without having issues.Complaint 4: The box says, "Works With Your 802.11g Wireless Devices" After reading reviews here, I find out that it makes all your N devices run like G devices if you have a G device on the network. Thats straight up BS. Thats plain deceptive advertising. It should have read, "Works with your 802.11g wireless devices by completely modifying your network and making everything operate on 802.11g standards." Not a Dual Band should be more clear.I hope I can get it working right because I'm stuck with it. Office Depot will only exchange it for the same thing and only inside a 14-day window. If you buy this router, make sure you get it from someplace like WalMart with a decent return policy.---Wireless Was Fun Oncewww.MoreMoneyMom.com

I bought this router to replace a Belkin N-Basic which stopped working every few minutes. I've had this router for almost two months now and it works GREAT! I never have any problems with it. Only slightly annoying thing is that it has several indicator lights that blink all the time-- took a few days to get used to that.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me! Well, they got me twice - I was dumb enough to think the first piece of crap I had was a lemon, so I replaced it with another.... and had the same problems!! Works great if you hard wire the computer into it. Wireless?? Forget about it - disconnects every 30 seconds, will show up as connected but have no internet at all. Smart phones could rarely connect to home network, and would get booted every 30 seconds as well. Horrible horrible piece of frustrating garbage. Finally went out and bought the linksys400 and within 5 minutes I had a perfect wireless network up and runnin and have had zero problems in a week of running. Do no, I repeat do not be lured by the price of this total piece of crap - you get what you pay for, and the frustration will cost you more in the end... you have been warned!! On the plus side, the 8 hours I spent talking to the Indian service reps were not as awful as they could have been, due to some nice, if unknowledgable, staff.

This product was a great buy for the value. D-Link has a long reputation for providing stable wireless routers. I recently tried a Linksys router and it had to be continuously reset; hence why I returned the product for a refund. There have been no problems so far with the D-Link router. The security is very easy to set up so that even someone with little computer experience can successfully protect their network (it is amazing how many networks go unsecured, opening up a Pandora's box of risk). I previously had a D-Link wireless router. After approximately 8 years, it did not work anymore. Considering that routers are continuously on, I think that this is a testament to the quality of the product.

We'd suffered under a Linksys router that had to be restarted at least daily, so we were excited to replace it with a newer, more modern router. I'd heard that D-Link was a good brand, but now I can't remember why I bought this when it had so many bad reviews.I've probably spent 12 hours fighting this router now, and I'm finally returning it. It works fine with my windows computers, but with my macs, it blocks various http requests. I tried turning off as many of the router's firewall options as I could, but no luck. So youtube videos don't play, and many internet pages just don't load. I tried calling D-Link tech support, which is apparently in India, but after I was on hold for a long time, the person just took a little bit of my information and then hung up on me.My search for a simple, reliable router continues.

The router and Ethernet switch functionality is fine, but the wireless is absolutely godawful.From the get-go the DHCP server has been very finicky about giving out IP addresses to wireless devices. Sometimes my laptop and my PS3 can get on the network just fine, other times I have to reset the router.The signal strength has been so-so, although recently it seems to have degraded significantly. My PS3 is about 15 feet away from the router, and until a couple of days ago I could get decent throughput over wireless.However, now it's to the point where I have to connect my PS3 to the router via Ethernet, as the wireless is practically unusable. Just pinging the router from my laptop at the same distance as the PS3 shows a 27% packet drop rate - unbelievable.Needless to say, I'm buying another router, and it's not going to be a D-Link.

I received this wireless router as a Christmas gift. So far it works very good. I have a laptop, a Wii, and 2 nintendo ds that link up with it. My desktop is wired. The signal is very strong and so far there are no drops of signal. Every once in a while my laptop will be receiving the signal, but the internet will not work. I simply close internet explorer and open it again and all is fine. The directions on setting it up are not that great. I had troubles in getting the internet to work on my desktop. I found advice online that said to shut down the desktop computer, the cable modem, and the router and then turn them back on again in that order. It worked. Had the same issue when I tried to connect my laptop to the wireless router. I again did the above and had no problems after that.

I bought and Installed. I wanted to replace my 4 years old CompUsa G router with this N router. First I did the same setup as my old router My Internet worked with LAN connection. Wireless wise I had three laptop with G connection and two worked one dropped connection every few second. My VOIP phone did not work. I try to open the port through the setup for VOIP and did not work. I did research in the google and D-link site and look like many D-Link modem is having the same problem. I did my best to solve the problem and after two weeks I gave up and hooked up my old router all my Laptop and VOIP phone is working very well. I do not recommend this company router for any body.

I bought this router after a price drop (???) .1) Setup was extremely difficult ( I know it vaires from person to person but i am a tech support guy ).No instructions if you want to connect to laptop .2) IF you change something it forces you to wait for 15 secs each time. and disconnects even the router login page doesnt work.3) The router login page is tedious.need to enter those stupid character every time even after you have set a password.4) I bought this to increase my internet range but strangely my current NETGEAR G router had more range than this Draft N router.5) If there are more than 3 people connected to the router it slows down and need a reboot or reset.Good thingI liked the design and feels like i have Gadget .??? -I thought the price drop was justified in my case.Any how i am returning this and ordered a NETGEAR N rangemax..

I got this router and have had tons of trouble. The DHCP feature loses its mind periodically (requiring a reboot of the router) and even my static-IP'ed desktop can't stay connected. The log is full of "disconnected reason 8" messages and I have no idea why. I've upgraded to the latest firmware and searched the internet for solutions with not much luck. Save yourself some heartache and buy a different model.To be fair, when it does work, it is plenty fast, Etc... just sick of having to fiddle with it. My years-old DI-614+ was far more reliable.

I bought this N router to replace a G netgear so I could get better signal strength to a particular location. This N router doesn't get as strong a signal to that desk than the G does. I also bought a Dlink USB MIMO antenna for the laptop I use there and got 6.5 Mbps compared to 11 Mbps from G with built in antenna. N didn't help for this location and Dlink MIMO doesn't work as advertised for me. I will never buy Dlink again. I also had setup problems. I finally had to call tech support to get it working. I did have good tech support from them.

My old D-Link router was giving out after several years, so I bought this one as a replacement. What a disaster! The set up program kept crashing during set up, so it took me almost 6 hours to finally get the darn thing working. It worked fine for a week or so. Then I kept having problems with all of my connections (notebook, netbook, wireless printer, PS3, and Wii). It got to the point where I had to reboot the router every time I wanted to get online, play a game, or print anything. Buyer beware!

I bought this as a black friday cheap upgrade from my old wireless b system and it has been working absolutely great.don't use the cd that comes with the product - somehow that cd did not make any sense when i tried to follow instruction.installation would have been a breeze if I had just followed the 4 step easy set up sheet.Overall, the product is working great, signal has not dropped even once in over a month and I get much better reception throughout my hose.

Features are great, when it works. The router frequently drops connections and must be rebooted before anything will work again. D-Link forums are full of people with the same issue, but no fix has been forthcoming.

Router is okay. Usually works but several pc's had trouble keeping a connection although they worked fine with my older 54mbps Netgear router. I have several different wireless network adapters and some work better than others with this router even though they all worked fine with the netgear router.

I purchased this item 2 months ago to replace my ehome wireless b router and it has improved my internet connection. Whereas before I frequently lost my internet connection (I have a sony laptop and comcast provides the internet service), I have not had that problem with this dlink router. Maybe other routers would be just as good, but this one worked fine. It was simple to set up and started working as soon as I connected it.

This is an average product. I got to use this for my Laptop and PS3 online gave play. Normally it works fine but drops link some time especially I am not using it for a day. Next day when I try to connect it shows the in available network but its lost connection with Internet. In that case I need to unplug it and plug it again. They have small reset button but it seems to me just for flashing light.

It's very easy to setup and gives really strong signal, but when I tried to connect old device i could not. I have two laptops and when I connect the new one old one looses the connection, thus I connect it via cable. Also I cannot connect my cell phone Nokia E61i.It is really perfect router for new computers. I recommend to buy it.

I bought this product because I received a $50 gift card and needed a router. It does what I need it to do and it's under $50.I did have to call customer service to get it set up. The gentleman walked me through the trouble shooting and even hooked up my Wii and Iphone.

it is good router for its price, for basic home use only. worth to be mentioned that the installation CD did NOT work with windows 7, and I needed to call the Technical support to help me install it maually. they did help me and it was successful installation. speed and stability is good.

Do not even think about buying this router. I have had nothing but trouble. Dlink support ( the Indian office) required 5 seperate calls (5 hours) to finally acquire an RMA. This router is not worth the trouble to send back.
