Decent music from these, not best sound- struggles with bass, but very easy to listen too and enjoy.
Pretty good comfort inner ear -although not the best fit- a bit loose, but that could be just me! - I enjoy using them and they look attractive in the red colour. They have a mic too so that is something most don't have.

Stylish and easy listening experience, not best sound quality but still enjoyable and they do play clearly .

This is a Vine review of the Creative Labs ChatMax HS-620 Gaming Headset. I requested the headset because generally I like Creative Lab products but have not been entirely pleased with Creative's Fatal1ty gaming headset which I already own. I was curious to see how the HS-620 compared to the Fatal1ty.Audio: The Creative HS-620 audio is better than the Fatal1ty in hearing subtleties in both game play and when listening to music. The HS-620s are slightly better at eliminating outside sounds than the Fatal1ty. An important note is that other people report they hear me more clearly on the HS-620 over the Fatal1ty.Cord Construction/Quality: Both the HS-620 and the Fatal1ty have cords that could be hardier by having better strain relief for the cord exiting the headset and at the connectors. Creative improved the color coding on the Fatal1ty connector. The HS-620 only had a sliver of color on the metal parts of the connectors and the Fatal1ty has the entire connector color coded. Both the HS-620 and Fatal1ty have inline volume controls that are positioned on the cord in such as way as they get hung up on the desk as I move around. I would prefer the control be higher or lower on the cord so that it moves freely.Headset Comfort: The HS-620s are lightweight and comfy on the head. They have a light cool fit around the ears which is important to me for using the headset hours at a time. The Fatal1ty is tighter, hotter, and feel like they crush my ears against my head for long term play.Mic Construction/Quality: The HS-620 mic has a shorter boom and smaller head so that it is located on the side of my face when in position. The Fatal1ty has a longer boom and for others to hear me well has to be in front of my mouth making it hard to eat or drink without pulling it away. While a smaller point, one that bothers me is that the Fatal1ty is distracting as it is in the periphery of my vision. This 2011 Vine product had coupons for free music and audiobook which terminated in 12/2009 and 12/2010 respectively.Surprisingly the individual differences are not largely significant but all together they are enough to prefer the HS-620 over the Fatal1ty.

I was looking for a relatively low-cost dual-use headset, one that is good for music and also for iPad and iPhone voice and video call use. I wanted something that has good isolation to hear in noisy environments. But they cost a lot more. This product offers very little isolation but the upside is it's pretty light, not too much pressure on my ears, and my ears don't get hot like they would with a high-isolation type. I am pleased with the music use and it has surprisingly good bass response. The boom mike only comes down about three-quarters of the way to my mouth but the noise-cancelation/isolation is very good and the short boom prevents breath-popping. I've been told by callees that they cannot hear loud noises around me even when it was so loud I had trouble hearing them. They report the voice quality is about the same as the built-in mikes on the iPhone 4S and iPad although with no low end frequencies, but this might be a design intention to minimize mechanical boom noise and increase intelligiblity in high noise environments.CONS: The overly long cord is a bit of a nusience (I keep a tightly coiled loop of the excess), there is no outer removable windscreen and on windy days there is some noise, you need an adapter to combine the separate mike and ear plugs (but the advantage is some players or radios cannot tolerate a combined plug, both physically or electrically because of the impedance characteristic), and the mike ON/OFF and volume control are poorly marked on the very small cord switch, but at least is has a clothing clip.

This creative labs headset is pretty good for the price of I got it at, around $30-$40. Sound quality is good, the bass is there, the sound clarity is good especially when you're playing video games. And the adjustable microphone is a plus. However, the cord is a bit too long and can prove to be naggy (although this is minor). Another issue I have with this headset is that it hurts my ears (although I have very large ears and a large head). Minor adjustments are required from time to time to make it sit comfortably on my ears. Overall, this is definitely a headset to consider for the price it's at, a good product imo.

The price is enticing on this Creative headset, but the mic never worked for me so it's only really half of a product. Still, at this price point, you'd be hard-pressed to find a headset that sounds this good and feels this comfortable. However, due to the dual 3.5mm stereo jacks (headphone + mic), it does not accommodate all audio cards -- particularly my 7.1 Realtek onboard audio card.I read some other reviews that seemed to be pleased with the mic quality, but the mic never worked for me. By flicking it with my finger during a recording, I was able to tell that it did indeed have a connection, but it only picked up my voice very faintly. It is probably a defect, which is unfortunate, though not surprising after seeing the "Made in China" label.Because my onboard Realtek audio card does not have a headphone jack, it's not possible for me to use this product as a chat headset anyway. Therefore, the non-functional mic is rather moot. So if you are like me and you don't have an *extra* line-out (or "headphone" jack) on your sound card, you probably won't be able to use this product as a chat headset either. To test the sound, I plugged into the headphone jack on my Creative speakers on my desk. Obviously the mic jack would not reach the back of the computer at this point. The sound quality encompasses the full spectrum. The bass is rich and the audio is clear. It easily meets my standards and blows away any earbuds in the same price range. The over-the-ear drivers are padded with what seems like soft microfiber -- almost fleece. It feels nice. Beyond that, this is a very "vanilla" headset. There's zero noise-dampening both from the environment and out to it. People hear what you're listening to, and you hear them. The price is by no means a rip-off, but there are definitely better products out there if you have some more money to spend. My preferred headset is the Logitech G330, which uses a USB adapter that provides both compatibility and functional benefits by showing up as an extra audio device in the OS.

The sound quality on these isn't as good as it could be. Also, all of my friends complained that the microphone caused constant static and buzzing on their end. I tried both the front and back microphone plugs on my computer with no change. They're good for listening to music, but not much else.

First of all, I think you'll be surprised by how cheaply made these are for their currently-$40 price, and will last only if treated very delicately. They are marketed as gaming headsets and I find that comical, as any real gaming headset will be, if nothing else, sturdy, as gamers tend to get caught up in games and aren't always careful to treat things 'delicately'. And kids using these will destroy them within hours, if not sooner. What these might be useful for is for things like Skype, where they will be used pretty much for voice (which requires almost nothing in terms of quality reproduction), and they are indeed lightweight and hence easy to use. Sound-quality-wise, the microphone is better than the headphones, which are... Ok for voice. However, given their price, I would strongly suggest that rather than getting these, which require that you plug their two 3.5mm jackets into the headphone and microphone jacks of your computers sound card (which may be on the front of the computer, often are) that you consider a USB-connected headset. Why? How well these work will depend on how well your sound card works and in many cases you have to change configuration to switch from the sound being send to speakers to being sent to the front jacks.I would suggest instead that of you are looking for Skype-oriented headset, that you consider a USB-connected version. They don't require drivers, and they will work independently of any other sound card you may have. By default, when you plug them in, they become the input and output source while they are plugged in. So you connect them for your call, and if you then want to use your speakers, you just unplug them and everything (in Windows XP, Vista, and 7, anyway) reverts. And most of them are sturdier and can be found in this price range. If you find these for $20 or under, and want to use them for Skype or videoconferencing (and don't mind being seen wearing them!), and will treat them delicately, and likes their light weight, then these are for you.

I use the Creative Labs ChatMax headset for listening to music, to use Skype, to use Dragon Naturally Speaking, and for making voice recordings of notes to myself. Throughout all of these, the headset performs flawlessly. I opted for this headset specifically for the non-USB plug because I was running short of ports. This headset is so quiet with regards to ambient noises that my girlfriend sneaks up on me all the time when I am using the headset. I highly recommend this unit to everyone. It is, in my opinion, the best all-around headset for the money. And it is very sturdy too.

These work just fine...plugged them in and played some Left for Dead 2. Handed them to my boyfriend and he did the same. Both of us have our own headsets but this seemed like a good chance to compare this one and keep the worst of the 3 as back-up (incidently, this one is ending up as that back-up).The mic quality is good...everyone hears you just fine, sounds okay on the other end. The volume adjust is nice on the cord...the boyfriend's current 'phones don't have that and he misses it. mine do)However, they feel really flimsy, the sound is tinny...very noticeably metallic, and they have almost no noise cancellation. Neither of us found the velvet cups on our ears that comfortable and the head adjust could be adjusted for our different heads but it's very plastic-y and seems delicate (not sure that it actually is, but it seems that way). For reference, he normally uses a Koss SB-45 with 3.5mm jacks (currently selling on Amazon for five dollars less than the ChatMax set) and I use a Logitech ClearChat USB Headset H390 (currently selling on amazon for two dollars less than the ChatMax set although I paid forty in a store). Both of us have FAR better sound (his is amazing) out of ours, both of us find our own more comfortable as well. Mine wasn't advertised as being noise blocking but it's better than this (which claims isolation as a feature), his are and they make it so he can't hear me at all...these ones allow you hear normal conversation pretty much anywhere in our computer room.So I'll give them 3 stars because they do technically work just fine...they'll let you hear your games and talk in them too. But really...for the cost there are obviously better options. Of the 3 examples we have independently acquired in this price range, this one is the least impressive. It's a solid meh.

I didn't order this to play games with, but to use with Dragon's Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 speech-to-text software, and I'm very happy with the results. This is the first mic'ed headset I've ever used; prior to it, I either used the array mic on my notebook or a desktop mic, as I don't like having to hold the microphone when I dictate. Those all worked pretty well, but this is an altogether superior solution because:- The accuracy is higher than with the aforementioned alternatives- I don't have to try to 'project' my voice- I can speak at a reduced volume, which allows me to speak more quickly without losing accuracy- I can dictate to my machine even in noisy environments, as the mic does a good job of canceling background noiseAs well, the headphones provide good sound for music playback. nobody will confuse them with professional studio phones or anything, but sometimes I use them when I'm away from my home studio and want to sequence music, and they do a yeoman's job. What's nice about using the HS-620 in this way is that since it's mic'ed, you can do some quick 'test' recording or 'scratchpad' recording in a digital audio workstation. The 'killer feature' for me is that since you can easily detach the mic, you can use these as regular phones if you prefer, then switch back to 'full headset' mode when you need to. I can't comment on the HS-620's performance in games, but I HAVE used this a few times in Skype, and the performance was similar- good and reliable. In summary, the price-to-performance ratio is great here, and these are recommended to anyone who's looking for an all-in-one solution for headphones and a mic'ed headset without spending a lot of money.

Got the item, plugged it into my computer... only one headphone worked... tried my mp3 player.. same garbage... wife's ipod... same. I don't know how well the mic works because i was so disgusted I put it back in the box to be refunded because they will not exchange it. They looked pretty, did not work at all. You would think a company as large and well known as creative would have some sort of quality control, but obviously not.

I received this item via the Amazon Vine program to check and review and I have to say that this headset is very nice. For the money they offer adequate sound quality, comfort on the head and ears, a detachable microphone, and are fairly light weight. The noise cancelling feature is a plus when just listening to music at work, helping to block out unwanted noise and sounds. I like them and would recommend for someone with a limited budget, but wants a nice sounding headset.

I've burned through a lot of headphones over the years, and I know what I like and dislike. These - I like. They have enough leeway with adjustments to make sure that the majority of people will be able to place them on their head in a comfortable position. The ear muffs are nice and soft, and don't create a death-grip on your head (which invariably caused me headaches with other headsets.) I have a nice voice-over microphone I like to use that is very sensitive as well as clear as a bell, so I love the fact I can detach the mic from the headset and use my high quality mic instead. I suppose the only drawback might be potentially losing the mic, so I'm careful about putting it in a nearby drawer. It could come in handy if I temporarily need a headset + mic on one of my other PCs, as I wouldn't move my voice-over mic for that. The only reason I gave it 4 is the cord. It's a rubber cord that seems to tangle on itself a bit too easily, and I don't know about anyone else, but loops and tangles on my headsets drive me crazy. Really I would have given it 4.5 out of 5 if it were possible. I am an avid gamer and will spend countless hours playing them, and can wear these the whole time and not fatigue my ears. In my book that means a lot.Definitely recommend. The price-point makes this headset especially attractive.

I purchased these headphones needing a microphone for speech recognition, as well as for listening to music. First, the good. The headphones fit fairly well after adjusting for my rather large head. The padding on top and around the ears was very comfortable, and I was able to wear them for about an hour before starting to feel a bit uncomfortable. Sound reproduction was surprisingly good, as all levels and tones were presented pretty accurately, from deep bass to high treble. I was able to turn up the volume pretty high, with no noticeable sound degradation. There's a volume dial on the cord, which was helpful and easy to reach. You can also hear ambient noise from the room while listening to music, though it's muffled. The detachable microphone also works well. I fiddled a bit with speech recognition, and the mic seemed sensitive enough that it was able reproduce my input for the computer. It may be a bit too sensitive, as it also seemed to pick up ambient sound from the room. There may be a setting in Windows to adjust for this, but I don't know. Overall satisfactory results with the mic. Now, the bad. The cord is very thin, and I can't help but think that where the cable plugs into the left earpiece is where breakage may occur. The cord was too long for my purposes, so I had to zip-tie the extra length (not really a big deal). The biggest negative I have with these 'phones is occasionally there's a popping sound when turning my head, most likely caused by the plastic casing being torqued by movement. Not really a big deal, but it's occasionally annoying.Overall, I would recommend these headphones to anyone. For comfortable music listening or gaming at around $30, it's a pretty good value.

This is an average gaming headset suitable for casual online gamers. Hardcore gamers may want to spend more on their two-way headsets.MUSIC/VIDEO SOUND: These headsets have adequate sound. I believe this is mostly because these are over-the-ear headphones that don't completely cover the ear. The highs are bright and the mid-range frequencies are good, but the low frequency sounds don't "thump" like on higher end products. Full ear cover headsets and ear buds provide better quality sound.NOISE CANCELLATION: The noise cancellation qualities of this headset don't sound any better than other mid-range priced products, which is to say playing online against/with others can be hectic with occasionally chaotic and difficult to decipher communications. The headset didn't come with a USB adapter and won't work with my PS3 without one. Additionally, the cord is only 8 feet long. This is too short to be used for game play accept in small spaces and relatively small screens. This headset would make a good entry level headset for someone just getting started in online/multi-player gaming. It's okay for music/movie listening. Three out of five stars.

I really like the way this headset sounds, great treble, excellent, smooth bass. It sounds better than my usual Logitech headset. The difference, however, is the way I sound to others: when I kept the mic at my normal distance of a few inches away from my face, I was told that I sounded distant. To sound normal, I moved the mic very close to my mouth. I was afraid that people would pick up my breathing noises, however no one complained. It feels really comfortable on the head. The padding for the ears and around the headband is velour. I was afraid that I would be able to hear ambient noises, but this was not the case! The velour kept out all sounds except what I wanted to hear over the headset. The mic is detachable, and bending it while you are talking is picked up by the mic. You can control the mic via a mute switch (not a button, sadly) via the shirt clip. I found I kept changing the volume whenever I would mute or unmute myself. This was a bit annoying for me.And finally: I have a very narrow head. This headset fit me quite well. I did not feel like it was going to slip off if I leaned my head forward or backward. I credit that to the velour patch on the headset itself. An excellent bargain for any gamer or person who uses VoIP tools!

Compared to my old Sony headset this headset is lighter, more comfortable and the sound is better, hopefully they will last way longer than my old pair. I've always liked Creative Labs products even though they aren't as well known as other brands they make a great product. I don't do much online gaming so I cannot comment on that aspect. But I do use them for music and skyping and with the over the ear design you seal yourself off from any white noise or distractions in the background. I don't blast my music but I do listen loud and these have a solid powerful feel but with good separating and definition. After putting them on they are so light weight you forget you have them on unless you have them on for over a couple of hours and like with all over the ear headphones they tend to bug your skin around your ears. I love the removable microphone feature that really is nice if you want to listen to music and you don't want that thing in the way.I wish they wouldn't name these "Gaming Headsets" that leads you to believe that they are only for gaming but they are great all around headsets.

Five of us tested this headset (My husband, a teenager, two younger children & me), and all of us ranked it better than any we've had in the past. Keep in mind, we are pretty frugal with headsets since I have younger chlidren that can easily destroy them with use.It was easy for the younger children to put on and play on their favoite sites. It was nice that I didn't have to hear them play on these sites. My husband had no problems using the headset and mic for his games. My teenager ranked it 4 out of 5 stars...and he doesn't even give his favorite products 5-stars.I used this for music and was happy with the sound quality. The fit was also comfortable, which is a plus.Overall, this would be a good buy for a family with various needs. As far as the price, I've paid much more for some headphones that didn't last for more than a couple of weeks. We've been using these longer than that and they are still in tact!!If you're hard on headphones or have younger children that use them, this is a good product because it's durable.

For an under $50 headset, these are pretty good.Pros:* They're light and comfortable, very comfortable.* The audio quality is excellent. Music streaming from Pandora and conversations over Skype sound great.* They even work with Dragon Naturally Speaking!* The price is right, making them a good value.Cons:* They're a little flimsy, and the cord they come with is rather thin. I do think it might break easily.* I ran into compatiblity issues because my computer prefers a USB headset. This wasn't a problem with the iPod or anything else I tried it on.* The microphone isn't very good. It doesn't have much of a low range, so I was told I sounded "tinny" over Skype. I don't know if this is connected with that, but Dragon didn't work as well with this headset as it does with my more expensive Sennheiser headset.* The noise cancelling could be better. All in all, this headset is far from perfect, but for the price, it's pretty good.

When I got this headset it looked good from the start, the only minor problem being that the cable was extremely long, which is probably good for some, and I just keep it wrapped up.I tried it out and the sound quality was great, almost lifelike! It took a bit of getting used to. However, when I talked to my friends over Skype they said they couldn't hear any difference in the sound quality on their end.It fits like a glove. It's like a sort of Head-Glove. It's comfortable, and not like just a piece of plastic you put on your head. It's like a piece of plastic you put on your head, but with cushions!Another good thing is that the microphone detaches, so you can drink coffee while listening to music and not get your $30 headset all wet.Excellent headset at a good price.

I mainly got this headset to use Skype on my PC.The fact that the microphone is detachable isn't important to me, but its noise-cancelling property is crucial that I don't have to be in a very quiet environment to make phone calls. My house is pretty close to the street and can be noisy at times, but I am always able to carry on conversation, without parties on the other end ever complaining that they couldn't hear me well or there was too much background noise. The ear cups are large and covered with velvet-like material; they are very comfortable. The sound generated from this headset is very clear and the bass response characteristic is just right. This is a relatively inexpensive and good microphone headset that I find very suitable for using with Skype. It is also fine for music and games if your requirements aren't too high.

I was looking for a good headset to use for online meetings, online training sessions, and Skype. This fit the bill. They are comfortable and people at the other end have had no complaints about the quality of the sound. They are light weight enough to be used for extended periods of time. I can still hear ambient noise when wearing them, otherwise I would have given them 5 stars. Overall, I would recommend them.

First off, the beauty of this headset is the removable microphone. You can easily use this as something to listen to music with while at home, and then plug into your computer and berate those lesser-gamers on your computer. You could use these as part of a Skype session as well. They fit very comfortably, and the sound quality is great. I also appreciate the length of cord they give you so you aren't tethered to your computer, afraid to move. They aren't earbuds by any stretch of the imagination though, so they aren't that compact. They don't fold down or anything, and they won't fit into your computer bag with ease. If you're planning on having something at your desktop computer at home, however, these give great sound.

By incredible luck, I was in the market for a gaming headset and I was offered this one as a free evaluator in the Vine program. This is a really nice gaming headset. It is comfortable to wear, very well-constructed, and sound quality is quite decent, if not quite top-tier. I use it mostly to watch (listen to) movies on my iPad. My son uses it for his game gizmos. For both applications it works very well. The volume on this headset is better than some more expensive headsets, and it has a built-in volume control on the chord, which I very much appreciate as some iPad videos are a bit light on the volume. There is a lot to like about this headset and it does the job it was designed for very well. Recommended. RJB.
