GETTING THE THING TO WORK
THIS SOUND CARD IS VERY FINICKY SOUND CARD. I'VE HAD IT A FEW MONTHS AN IT HAS FAILED TO WORK AT ALL. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT. MAY THAT OVER GLORIFTING IT, AS IT MIGHT OUGHT TO BE PIECE OF JUNK. I HOPE CREATIVE (SOUND BLASTER) WILL DO A BETTER JOB OF PREPERATION OF DRIVERS, FIRMWARE AND SOFTWARE BEFORE RELEASING A PIECE OF JUNK. DO NOT BUY THIS STINK'N WAN'A BE SOUND CARD. YOU'LL WASTE GOOD MONEY ON A HALF BACKED PIECE OF JUNK.

Great soundcard, No Linux support
I use in direct mode without the volume module. Everything sounds great through my beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80ohm headphones. Only thing I don't like is not being able to use in Linux. (as of 8/20)

Beautiful sound quality
My MoBo has an excellent on-board audio chip, but then, this SoundBlaster AE-7 is something else.
Aside from all the tech specs, which may be relevant or not, it really has a beautiful SOUND, which is relevant to me.

Do not buy!
Windows 10 frequently won't recognize this card.
Sometimes power cycling fixes it. Sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes unplugging it from the PCI-e slot fixes it. Sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes disabling then re-enabling the device in the device manager fixes it. Sometimes it doesn't.
Overall -- VERY frustrating.
I've used Creative products for decades. I never will again.

Music comes alive
Had to send back an SB Recon I previously ordered as win 10 wouldn't load drivers. This card popped in and installed well. Sound is great. Little light strip didn't work, but I don't care about that.

has a clicking noise
This card has a clicking noise I assumed it was just a bad one out of the box tired to get a replacement but that's next to impossible. I wasn't bought directly thru amazon.. so I have to deal with a privet seller thru amazon.. to this day I still have the annoy click from a 150$ so I can Not enjoy my 500$ speakers.. lesson learned here! watch who you buy from!

Excellent at what it does
Quality is excellent i only have two complaints. Volume is not controlled by windows if you connect it with spdif to a soundbar you can only switch volume via soundbar remote which is annoying. Also no AURA sync and since i have an all asus pc its not very visually pleasing. Sound quality is excellent.

Great when it works
I upgraded from a SoundBlaster Z and install was easy and card sounded good. The next day the card died. Returned for refund and went back to the Z which sounded just as good.

Good volume control
This was my third attempt at a sound device and I am very pleased with it. It increases the volume of my headphones much higher, which is what I was going for with the first two sound cards/DACs I purchased. The quality of sound is about the same as my motherboard onboard audio but the card is capable of much higher volume.

Microphone quality is horrid, sound is great though. But I mainly needed this for microphone use, so that is why this review is so low

Very nice update from Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro to Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus
I'm extremely happy with this sound card. I've used SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro since August 2011 y. It also has good hardware and handy software as well. Moreover, RGB lighting is a nice and pleased addition.
AE-5 works fine with Windows 10 including gaming, music composing, watching movies, listening music, and other sound related tasks :)
