Unreliable garbage
If I could give it zero stars I would. On the first business day it failed to drive computer speakers, cutting out halfway through two mission-critical meetings before eventually blinking on again. Nothing exotic was happening; it was literally running two small desktop speakers at the time. I have excised this piece of junk from my system and am in the process of returning it. I will not be buying another product from Creative again. I am a working professional; I can't afford to be let down by something so fundamental to the operation of a computer under these conditions.

Creative Sound Blaster AE-7
Simply Amazing. I was coming from an onboard Supreme FX on my MB to this, it was not a needed change given the quality of the onboard audio these days. But if you have or are in the market for a nice set of headphones you will want to make the jump. I tried an external USB Dax and returned it for this. The software suits my needs and I have had no issue. 9900k, 32GB, 2080TI.

Great sound card BUT
Like other reviews I have seen for sound cards, I just had my first blue screen. I have also had consistent times where my PC screen just goes black, most commonly after I put my computer to sleep and never on a fresh reboot. Never had any problems with this before I installed the sound card and my machine has worked great.
It sounds great and I love the external volume control which makes it super easy to switch audio sources. I knew there was a risk of things like this happening from some research I did, so not surprised.

Useless without drivers
After initial instal the device worked great until I restarted my computer. It was then recognized by drivers as a recon 3d. The software would no longer recognize the sound card. After many reinstall, reseating, and contact with support I decided I'd wasted enough of my time with trying to get it running (6 hours). Sent it back.

Fantastic soundcard; not-as-fantastic DAC
If you're looking for a high-quality/high-performance soundcard that will fit your audio needs along with some super useful features for gaming, this is the one you're looking for. Although a bit cumbersome, the software that comes along to let you fine tune settings has some pretty great features. For gaming, turning Scout Mode on in games like COD Warzone is basically like cheating; the super precise directional audio will let you hear footsteps and crates well beyond the standard hearing range. For audiophiles with high gain headphones, you've got quite a bit of tools to play around with here, including some encoder features to really bring out the best from your gear.
However, I gotta say that the DAC that comes along with the soundcard is bad enough to knock a star off the product review. About the only useful function is being able to amp the volume for your headphones. Otherwise, the DAC has cause nothing short of a million problems on my end. Voice quality for the on-board mic is sub par, and it has began to fail critically for me when using certain applications. Primarily, the DAC seems to flip directional audio at random when using more than one application running audio through it. This is a huge problem when trying to work on projects while on an audio/video call, or when trying to run discord while gaming. Was not sure if the problem was the souncard itself, but after extensive troubleshooting steps I narrowed the problem down to the DAC. Currently going unused, and I honestly cannot recommend anyone to use it. I'd appreciate a version of the card that does not include the DAC, as it would knock down some of the cost while getting rid of something that is honestly just useless.

Noticeable difference in sound quality
Always thought about buying one and now wish I had done so sooner the difference is clear and noticeable read about some people having issues with soft ware I haven't had many issues with the soft war only issue I have with it is I can't seem to get it to output call audio to my headset Instead of my surround speakers but I am going blame for that as I probably need to play with it some more to figure it out. But overall very happy and impressed by difference in aound quality over your typical onboard audio and would definitely buy one again for future builds.

Just broke after 5 months of minimal use
When it was working it was great, fantastic sound quality and neat extra voice changing options. BUT when I was playing with some friends the thing just made a loud crack in my headphones and stopped working. Tried to diagnose the problem, but win10 no longer detected it as a sound device, just Gone... When plugged in the rgb still works but can't be changed, so I guess it just for looks now. Changing pci lanes does nothing and reinstalling driver's does nothing. Either I'm unlucky when it comes to tech always getting LEMONS or quality control it that bad. For the price it definitely not worth the risk if it's just gonna break from just listening to music or gaming.

Does what it says
Pretty great soundcard so far. I'm still setting it up, but immediately I can tell a difference between onboard audio and this soundcard. I just calibrated my 5.1 system with the card hooked up and it's really going to pretty good effect so far.

Very nice card
I have been using a Auzentech Forte for several years now that I just loved, but windows 10 doesn't care if you have drivers for your equipment or not, so I finally had to give it up.
This is the most expensive card I have ever owned, but it may be the best sounding card I've ever owned as well. We will see how well it last. I don't use it for gaming at all, just music, and videos.

Had it a little over 25 days and it never has worked.
I have spent so much time with Windows 10 troubleshooting and Creative. I have wasted quite a few days on this product. I think it has been very useless. A musician must be able to hear sounds for inumeral reasons

Superb sound quality!
I use this with a medium sized Sony 2.1 soundbar over SPDIF. After a little bit of confusion in the Sound Blaster Command software, I got all enhancements to work correctly and the difference is night and day. Absolutely pushes the most out of your sound equipment, and it looks good doing it too! Easy to install though you will need a female Molex plug (I purchased a Sata - Molex converter separately) to use the LED features and the card does have a plug to connect your front-side tower microphone jack too (not a feature I use personally). Highly recommend!

Excellent Sound Quality
Just got this today, installed with no hassle and no errors. The sound quality is rich and airy with some deep bass tones. For gaming it really separates out the various sounds and keeps you enveloped. I got this to upgrade from the old X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty. It is an improvement on what I didn't think could be improved on.

AE-7 is an excellent upgrade!
Pros:
1. Brings the best out of your audio gear.

3. ACM eliminates the need to use the case front panel audio jacks.
4. No molex or sata power cables needed.
Cons:
1. I was hoping the volume control on the audio control module can actually control windows volume. Sadly, its purely for headphones only.
2. Requires decent headphones or speakers to make the most out of the sound card.
3. Switching between the speaker and headphone modes is done via sound blaster command. ACM could have a button or switch for quick mode change.

First sound card fortnite gaming music
Amazing. Finally got my first sound card, I was using onboard Realtek audio which was okay. But for competitive gaming and music you need a good sound card and amp to drive headphones. First time I used it it was a bit weird so I switched it to direct mode but the spatial awareness for games is t there. Back to encoding on Dolby it sounds amazing, make sure you’re settings allow the device to enhance signal and to allow applications to take control so that command can the device can actually work. I’m running 24bit with dolby no sbx so far but I just got it today so may mess with settings. Would def recommend if you have the use and rig for it. you get a lot more detail you don’t get without a good sound card.

I wanted to get higher quality sound out of my PC speakers, as played through foobar2000, to compare with my Fiio X5 player. I had a Xonar XD sound card before, which was OK. I installed this card, set it to direct mode to bypass any effects or filters, and it is amazing. took five minutes. worth every penny.

it sure is a sound card
Have had the same problem, where all sound will randomly become distorted until a restart, plaguing my sound blasterZ for years and years, always thought it was something wrong with the sound card, persisted through multiple build generations, picked up this ae-5 hoping it would fix the problem, it did not.

Software was not compatible with my Sennheiser RS180
Would not work with plug & Play so I downloaded the software and got error message that it was not compatible with my headphones, So I returned the unit for credit.

Quality sound card
Nice upgrade over the on RealTek audio on the motherboard. Simple install & good quality audio. Did not install the flashy LED light strips but an interesting option if one is so inclined.

it's ok
not as good as my old Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty card only reason I purchased this new card is drivers for the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty are gone no longer supported.
Quality of this new card is OK at best cloudy sound and volume adjustment is jumpy.

Worth the change!
Stepped up to the ae5 plus from the soundblaster x and definitely worth the upgrade!! Not an audiophile but this card lets you dial in the perfect sound for your ears

Make sure the software and drivers are compatible to Windows 10
When I installed it the sound card was great and loved the idea of the extended mike. But Windows 10 PRO was having a hard time to connect with the drivers and crash my pc six times. I have trouble shoot every possible way but was causing issues. I did get a different sound card and it is working great so I know my PC did not have any issues. It was the drivers for the soundblaster

GETTING THE THING TO WORK
THIS SOUND CARD IS VERY FINICKY SOUND CARD. I'VE HAD IT A FEW MONTHS AN IT HAS FAILED TO WORK AT ALL. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT. MAY THAT OVER GLORIFTING IT, AS IT MIGHT OUGHT TO BE PIECE OF JUNK. I HOPE CREATIVE (SOUND BLASTER) WILL DO A BETTER JOB OF PREPERATION OF DRIVERS, FIRMWARE AND SOFTWARE BEFORE RELEASING A PIECE OF JUNK. DO NOT BUY THIS STINK'N WAN'A BE SOUND CARD. YOU'LL WASTE GOOD MONEY ON A HALF BACKED PIECE OF JUNK.
