1. It is quiet. Even with the side panel off my box, I couldn’t hear the fan.
2. It is completely self contained. There is no reservoir to fill and no bleeding of the lines. It is pre-filled and sealed all you have to do is install it.
3. The color changing effect is pretty cool. I let my little ones set it so now I have a constantly changing color in the background. Just a little fun with it.
Installation is a breeze if you follow the instructions. I, however, decided that it would be the last thing to install. This is when reading the instructions is fundamental. There is a backplate to install on the underside of the motherboard that serves as the anchor for the cooler master. So I learned how to uninstall the motherboard just to install the backplate. Once I finally got the cooler installed, I was quite impressed and the only reason I knew it was working was that I couldn’t see the individual fan blades, so they had to be spinning.
I will definitely use this again in my next build. Highly recommended.
I bought a new ryzen computer, popped out of the i7, changed up the mounting bracket and installed it in the new pc 10 minutes later.
The instructions were a little iffy but if you know your computers and played with allot of lego as a kid (or grownup, I'm not judging) then the instructions are not so bad. Honestly, though, I'd it seems confusing to you or you haven't assembled a PC before then you might want to consider hiring a professional to install this for you since it is possible top completely brick your computer doing this on your own.
Despite the title and 3 star rating, I would absolutely recommend this cooler for the majority of users. Don't get me wrong, though. This cooler is still "remarkably average" in just about every manner possible. It offers absolutely no new features that you can't find on another AIO. BUT, it doesn't have to. It's an $80 cooler it does what it needs to pretty damn well for its price. The SickleFlow fans and pump are also ridiculously quiet. At 1500rpm, I can't discern any additional noise from system over the Corsair H110 this replaced.
However, I was initially disappointed seeing my temps jump 7c idle and 5c load from the 4 year old H110 with the same overclock: 7700k@4.9ghz/1.38v. It didn't affect daily use, but I could no longer bench without flirting with the thermal limit. Fortunately, this a moot point. I had intended to delid my CPU anyways and after doing so, the ML240L could hold Prime95 at 5.2ghz/1.45v below 90c... but the CPU couldn't quite do the same. I'm down to 5.1ghz/1.42v courtesy of the silicon lottery.
Because this cooler has still let me reach the limits of my CPU, I'm a happy camper. But despite all its marketing that touts "3rd gen dual chamber design" and "increased radiator surface area," the ML240L RGB V2 is simply outperformed by a 7 year old design that has been used and abused with 4 years of uptime.
Other negatives worth mentioning: the water block surface is INCREDIBLY rough (mostly inconsequential if using traditional thermal pastes) and short mounting screw length making a top mount pull configuration difficult.
Other positives worth mentioning: RGB is dope (subtle on the pump, the fans looks great), perfect hose length (long enough for versatile mounting in a full tower).
The ML240L RGB V2 is without a doubt not the best 240 available, but its not the worst and its ALSO the cheapest. Don't expect to set OC records on the latest flagship CPUs, but for $80? I'd definitely buy it again.
Well I'm happy to report that this unit was an upgrade from my Noctua NH-D15... I was getting decent cooling with the Noctua... But this unit outdoes it.
My system: (Primarily Gaming)
Gigabyte Z390
I9-9900K @ 5Ghz
32GB DDR4-3200
RTX-3080
4K/60hz
**I'm running a 3 in, 3 out Pull, Push.
That's it.
Playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla at 4K/60 Max settings, my CPU temp doesn't exceed 66C... With spikes into 70C on rare occasion.
So I wrote this review to help anyone who might be wondering if this unit can effectively cool a 5ghz boosted i9-9900k.
It most definitely can & will!
(assuming your case has decent airflow)
You can get a 360mm or even a 420mm and do alot better im sure but everyone's case doesn't fit those so if your tempted to give this 240mm a shot, I'd say go for it, confidently!
UPDATE 9-20-2020
Rattling noise started again after 9 days of using it regularly. Tbis time anything below 1200rpm. Ended up just returning it and getting the Deepcool Castle EX, a week and half of using that no rattle noise. Really would have wanted the deepcool as it went with my theme, but the fan quality is not good for long usage
Installing this was pretty easy, the instructions are easy to follow. It relies on images to convey the instructions versus words. The AMD connection kit went on without a hitch. This box also included a kit for Intel motherboards as well.
It does play nice with my Asus Aurora Sync settings.
A word of warning though before you throw your packaging away, make sure to give the unit a good once over. My first one arrived with the power cables stripped and clipped in a difficult notice location.
Thankfully Amazon returns took care of it with no hassle.
Bottom line; this is reasonably priced, works VERY well, and isn’t too hard to install.
- Keep temperature cool enough to OverClock, but not as much as other liquid cooling
- Cheap price (You get what you pay for)
Cons:
- Once the fan starts spinning fast, which only happen at 75+ Celsius, they are loud...like airplane loud. GF was like "what the hell is happening to your PC". Gaming as an OC, I get high-70s to mid-80s, so yeah it's pretty much always loud.
If you have a good headset, it can help muffle it up. Still noticeable though.
The construction feels and appears solid. The unit fit my Tower with minimal alteration of my current internal setup. The package included hardware for various chipsets. AMD hardware could use a few more screws to install an additional fan onto the radiator. I had one too many fans attached to my chassis, so I attached a fan on either side of the radiator.
I'll update after a benchmark and overclock test.
This AIO keeps my idle at ~33*c in a lightly Air Conditioned room. Stock cooler idled at ~50*c.
Note: There are plenty of good air-coolers that may do a similar job for slightly less money. I wanted an AIO because my case looked empty without one (it is set up for a top mount radiator and is visibly empty without one).
AIO's are normally not worth the money compared to high end air coolers, but at this price point it's not a bad deal at all.
Comes with cable splitters to make cable management easy.
With an overclocked 9600k, I’m sitting at 36C on Idle, 85C during long stress tests and around 70-75C on regular gaming.
However I would only recommend this cooler for micro atx builds, because your money would be better spent on a high tier air cooler for around the same price.
En general lo recomiendo también para un R5 2600x por igual.
The installation was very easy, the instructions were easy to understand (plus there's a ton of stuff on Youtube) and this thing is cheap! So far, so good--the thing worked through the air in the system in the first 10 minutes and went completely quiet.
Highly recommended!
I'm the sucker who bought 2 of their AIO CPU Coolers! For the price of the 2 combined I could have gone with a reputable brand like Corsair, NZXT, EVGA Etc etc
You get what you pay for, sadly I have owned Cooler Master products in the past that were good but now, never again.
I have a full saga of my current ongoing nightmare experience with Cooler Master products and their customer service below but I'll do a quick review of the items themselves first.
Both units running a lightly OC'd i7-2600k 4.3ghz, 16gb Corsair Vengeance, Gigabyte 1070TI in a Corsair 550D case with radiator on top typical mounting fashion. All the good stuff about mounting correctly with no air bubbles, pump below radiator etc.
My first AIO unit Masterliquid Lite 240 (bought in 07.20) which needed a RMA only 1.5 months into it's lifespan - Pump noise/failure - It's still in product received RMA status 2 MONTHS later - yup you read that right 2 months of an open RMA having already received my product and still no replacement as of 12.1.20.
When the unit did work it wasn't bad, relatively quiet unit. Idle was inaudible and underload kept my lightly OC'd i7 2600k around 50C-55C under load. I do have a mid tower geared more towards sound suppression though. Corsair 550D (removeable side vent/top panels off. Top panel is off for AIO rad vent, side panel vent open for more airflow)
This current unit MasterLiquid ML240L RGB V2 (which I bought since the first one which has been in RMA for so long) has fan bearing noise.
A ticket has been open with Cooler Master to replace a fan for over 1 month. Yup you read that right over 1 month of waiting to try to get a single replacement fan. This is after providing immediate video evidence of all issues as requested by the ticket.
Same thing, when the unit did work it wasn't bad pretty good actually. A relatively quiet unit, idle was inaudible and underload kept my lightly OC'd i7 2600k around 50C (high 40'sC low 50'sC ) under gaming load. I do have a mid tower geared more towards sound suppression though. Corsair 550D
I understand times are difficult with Covid in many different industries. I don't expect next day service but it is unreasonable to not even receive a reply to my open tickets for weeks on end especially after I keep updating them with status checks. Maybe they have so many defective products that's why it takes them so long to respond?
For those of you who want a story about Cooler Master as a company and how they treat their customers you're in for a treat.
Before I start on this story I preface with I have submitted any requests for additional picture/video/audio evidence immediately after requested. These coolers are on my personal work machine so it is heavily used and downtime hurts. Although any customer should receive timely service regardless.
I bought my first Cooler Master Masterliquid Lite 240 AIO from NewEgg on 07.20 (rebate deal) to replace an aging Corsair H60 (7 long trusty years of service).
I received the new Cooler Master unit and all was well initially. About 1 months in one of the fans started developing a bearing noise but it wasn't that loud. I let it go as this being my work machine downtime isn't ideal.
Shortly after the radiator fans started making noise I started to hear another noise. Upon closer inspection it was the pump. While I'm ok to let a fan have a little bit of noise, pump issues are more serious and I prefer not to risk my CPU. After doing all of the recommended trouble shooting (Taking out the pump, running in different positions to get air bubbles out) no dice. After reinstallation the noise began to get worse and temps began to rise, ok RMA time.
Stuff happens, it was a cheaper AIO unit but it's not the end of the world. I open my ticket on 10.05.20 - Yes 2 months ago, they have received my RMA product over a month ago and still no update on the ticket - stuck in product received.
After I created the original RMA ticket I waited a 2 weeks with little reply. Cooler Masters website was having issues so I could not verify my Serial number for product warranty.
Coincidently around the same time this unit MasterLiquid ML240L RGB V2, goes on sale. I figure ok it's cheap enough I can buy this one and use it for now while my original one is in RMA. I can use this new one for a new build in which I'm planning on in the next year.
Fast forward a month and then radiator fans begin making noise. Ok I under stand these are cheaper products but 2 faulty products in a row? Especially this new unit is supposed to be the higher end model than the last?
I go to the Cooler Master website (which is finally working) I register my product on their website and open a ticket for the fan noise.
That was on 11.09.20. Yes you read that right nearly a month ago and I still have not gotten any replacement fans from them. Not even talking about getting a replacement fan they still haven't committed to replacing my defective product/fans for something I paid for.
It has taken Cooler Master so long to respond to my messages that the second fan has started to make noise too. Not as bad as the first one but that one has gotten so loud that you can now hear it from another room.
As of 12.1.20 after multiple messages from me, no replies to either of my tickets. It goes to show not only are Cooler Masters products unreliable they do not care about their customers.
Once they have your money they do not care about you at all. At this rate I probably have better luck scoring one of the new paper launch video cards before I get replacement fans for my brand new AIO that I paid for.
I'm not an unreasonable person, I work on the tech side of things and not everything goes as planned, stuff happens.
Honestly if Cooler Master had stepped up and said yup our bad, lets get these units fixed I would have been ok. At this point in time, 3+ total months in with no replies in sight I've lost faith in Cooler Master.
The most recent slap in the face was their last message to me on 11.24.20 asking which of the fans was making noise? In which I stated in detail in the original ticket that both were and had video evidence of both.
A lesson for all, you've been warned, if the unit you get is lucky enough to work they're honestly not bad for their price point but if you have any issues, good luck, you'll need it.
