Well made rod.
I like this rod, and for the money it is light and well made. However I won't give it 5 stars because it will not accept a couple of my older reels, and the handle has a smaller diameter than the rods I use regularly. I have large hands and the handle is smaller than I like. Also, make sure the reel you are planning to use will fit.

Review: Cadence Essence - Spinning Rod
I was able to take this rod out on Lake Hartwell on 7/18. Below is a summary of my experience/observations using the rod;
Receipt: The rod took a little over a week to arrive. I'm not sure where the point of origin was, so simply an observation
Packaging: I was very pleased with the packaging. The shipping tube had more than adequate strength and the rod was "suspended" inside multiple thick foam disks, which prevented the rod from making contact with the shipping tube.
Set up: I placed three equivalent reels (BP PQs) on this rod, a Cadence CR& and a BP PQ rod and all had the same 8lb test mono line, same length & action, so the only variables were the actual rods.
Casting: Using a top water plug, plastic jerk bait and shakey head on all three set ups, the Essence performed well, but not to the same extent as the others. On average, I was getting about 5-7 yards less distance with the same lures. The Essence did not under-perform, just did not get the same distance as the others.
Feel: I did not catch any fish using teh top water plug or the jerkbait. However, I did catch fish on all three setups using the shaky head. I was in 10-15 feet of water in each instance. In general, the Essence had decent feel, but it was not quite as sensitive as the CR7 or the BP PQ. I would expect that to a certain extent as those two rods are at different price points.
Other observations: The handles were adequate, but I definitely noticed a difference in the grip between the CR7 and the Essence. Again, I realize these rods are a different price points, so that is also to be expected.
In summary, I think the Essence is a good value rod for the price. Unless you are a tournament angler, the Essence should serve you very well for most uses.

updated review: Broke after first use hbut was eventually replaces
Update: Rod was replaced after I was reached out to by a customer service person. Havened been able to use the rod yet so we will see how it holds up this time.
Would have loved the rod if it didn't break the first time I used it. Couple casts in and the glue on the reel seat came up So couldn't hold the reel to the rod anymore. Apparently, I missed the amazon return window by one day and the website link to customer support says the link is no longer available. Don't do it and but something that won't break and if it does has better customer support.

Beautiful rod. Broke my second day out.
I wanted to love this rod. Looks beautiful, well built, I love the billet collar lock It really looks and feels like a quality rod! I purchased this rod for kayak fishing on my neighborhood lake for smaller bass. I use a lot of finesse setups so I like my rods at 6' or 6'6" and like to target docks, shoreline and cover, so it seemed perfect for me. I put 8lb braided spider wire on mine and a nice little chatter bait. The first day was amazing! I caught 6 largemouth of varying sizes and even got a catfish! I was so pleased with my new set up I went out again the next day. Three casts in and I snagged a big of algae floating on the surface of the water, a small cluster about the size of a softball, maybe. No worries, this happens all the time, I thought. I was reeling it in and as it got closer to the kayak my tip bent and snapped under the pressure from the algae?! About 3 to 4 inches of tip. I have never had anything like that happen to me before. That cluster of algae was certainly not over 8 pounds. Maybe 2 to 3 at most...
I am pretty bummed about it. I wanted to love this rod, my fishing partner was even gling to pick one up after our first day out becaise he really liked it. That is, until I told him why I cant go out fishing again today.
Not sure who I can contact about a possible replacement or refund 😔. Fishing is on pause for the time being.

So far so good
The first thing I noticed is that the rod was packaged incredibly well. I live in Korea so the extra care taken to package the rod was a welcome sight. One thing - the rod I received isn't exactly what's pictured. Mine has a split grip handle rather than the solid cork shown.
I took it for a little fishing today and it performed well. I caught two blue gills and a bass, nothing huge but great sensitivity and nice casting ability. So far so good 👍

Quality/ price
Very happy with the rod it met & surpassed my expectations. The rod was packaged well & delivered on time. I must say the quality of the rod is on point as well as the comfort in my hand. I would recommend this rod to someone who is on a budget or not it’s on par with more expensive rods for a much lower price.

I own 4 cadence rods
This is one of four cadence rods i own. I paired it with a daiwa 750 reel and 6# test line. This setup has been a lot of fun in small ponds. I hooked a 13” bass kind of by accident and it held up great. Really nice feel to it.

one of the best values out there!
I came across the brand "cadence" just this year have tried their reels and there rods and I have zero complaints! Many of the 7ft rods you find on amazon even from the big names are two piece. No matter what technology they come out with no matter what they description says I have yet to find a two piece rod that has the sensitivity and feel of a one piece. I have tried and tried thinking that when you have ten rods in your car at all times two piece would be easier and less likely to break. The truth of the matter is I break more two piece rods than one!? not sure how that works but it does. I have spent upwards of 200 dollars on spinning rods and I couldn't say that one of them had better sensitivity or feel. Also I have broken all of them. So not only is this a good rod but if you break it your not gonna break the bank buying another. My advice try it out. I use it for dropshot, carolina rig, and texas rig baits and it works great for those applications!

Trout Trouble
Brought the 7 foot - Medium, just flexible enough to feel the strike but enough tension to hold. The screw down is a great asset. Pulled in 20, 22, 24s without problem. I have owned more expensive light action but this one holds its own in quality and don't break the bank.

Great rod
I’ve had this rod for about 9 months. It is outstanding. Good action and feel but still has some backbone. I couldn’t be more pleased. I was actually getting ready to order another one when I realized I hadn’t left a review for the first one.

Perfect Fast action Light Weight
I wanted to replace a 6.5 ft Cabalas spinning rod that was my favorite trout rod for 20 yrs that I broke in half while trying to take it apart ( 2 peace rod ) that is no longer available from Cabalas . This is even better than I had hope for , for one it is graphite which I prefer over carbon fiber . CF is to fragile I have broken so many rod tips I have given up counting . This rod has a very soft and quick tip and about a third of the top is very flexible but you still have the rest of the rod for strength in the back bone. It cast 1/8 oz jig 75 ft with 8 lb braid . If you want a light fast action rod that compares to rods over 100 bucks buy it .

Nice Rod for the Money!
Been using this rod inshore for about one year. It’s held up very well and landed some good sized snook, jacks, and one giant sailcat. I wish I would have purchased the 7’6” model to get a little more distance on my casts. All in all a nice rod for the money!

Great rod for the money
The rod is very lightweight and is exactly what the description states it is. It can easily toss a 1/16th oz lure and had the backbone to bring in a three pound Channel Cat with ease. I was so impressed with the rod that I promptly purchased another.

Awesome looks and performance
Love this rod. It is definitely a quality piece for $45. I have 4 other Cadence rods and 5 reels and have had a great experience with them so far. My only issue with any Cadence product has been the durability of the EVA foam they use so I am glad to see they have a rod with no EVA. Their customer service dept quickly resolved my issues and even replaced the rods because if the EVA crumbling. No questions asked, no paying to send the rod back, it was all handled over email. Better, quicker, and easier customer service than I have recieved on far more expensive Lews rods. I got the 6'6 light rod and have caught everything from perch to mid 20 inch stripers on it with no issue. Quickly becoming the rod that I won't go fishing without!

Better rods available in this price point. Light...but not real light. I wouldnt pay over $50 for this rod. But with 30 percent off its worth the purchase price.

High quality
Love this rod. Great value for money. I paired it with a Cadence Stout 4000 reel. Might just be the best combo I have ever owned, for inshore fishing, meaning, redfish, speckled trout, and black drum.
The quality of rod & reel are superb. This is my 3rd Cadence combo.
I fish often, and own upwards of 30 different combos, all in fishing condition. The cadences are now my favorites.
Drags are workhorses. Just lightly wash them off after saltwater exposure, and you will be a happy fisherman.
