My hair is long, to the bottom of my rib cage and very thick, but I tested them out tonight and it only took 25 minutes to curl my hair. I heated the curlers to 195, sprayed each section of hair with a little hair spray, curled and waited 10 sections, then pinned the curl to my head to cool. I left them pinned in for about 30 minutes after and I literally look like I have just left the salon!
The fact that there are multiple heat options are great, the curlers are thin to give you a ringlet curl, which holds, but you can then pick how much to brush out, the only negative for me, is they are a little on the short side so on some strands I could only curl half my hair. But for the price, I am not complaining! Will be recommending these to everyone!
Bought these so I can do various styles, such as curls on their own, messy buns, messy side plaits, etc.
Hair Type:
I'll try to put as much detail as possible, so will start by saying that I have long hair, I goes to about rib length and
is not thick, but also not thin, just about right. Lastly, my hair type is normal, it isn't dry and it isn't greasy. It's relatively healthy.
The Product:
This is speaking as someone who considers herself to be not very 'good' at doing hair...
I found them to be good, they let out nice curls, which if you're using the curlers right can be sort-of tight and bouncy (by holding the curlers on a downward angle), but can also do 'loose' curls. The wand is a good barrel thickness and length and it managed to wrap my hair, up to the root practically, around it with ease. I didn't use the highest heat either (I don't use curlers often and I tend to use a lower heat as it's better for the hair). They're definitely worth the money, for how good they are I thought they would be more. DO NOTE: they don't come with the heat mat and also make sure you get the angle right when you place them on the 'built in' stand. I have so far achieved my messy bun, curl and side plait looks with these!
Lastly, the delivery was quick and came nicely packaged. Can't really fault them :) hope this helps x
The BaByliss Curling Tong came very quickly after ordering them and came very well packaged. The curlers seem very well made and sturdy, so I'm hoping these curlers will last me for many years to come, well as long as the dog doesn't get hold of them again. The attached wire is long enough for my particular needs, however other reviewers have mentioned it being a little bit short. Also please be aware, that these curlers do not come with a heat mat, however there is a built in stand which keeps the hot tong off the surface, just make sure you have it at the right angle. These curling tongs are incredibly easy to use, as on the front you will find just three simple buttons, including power button and temperature up and down button. Once you have plugged this curler in, and pressed the power button, they heat up very quickly. You can choose from a temperature of 165 degrees up to 210 degrees so you can change the temperature to suit your preference. My hair is fairly long (below my shoulders), but quite thin and these curlers worked excellently on my hair. I always use the lowest heat, as it's better for the hair and this temperature works very well for me. The wand is a very good size and length and I managed to wrap my hair up to the roots with ease. The 25mm barrel has allowed me to achieve beautiful loose curls in a couple of minutes and the curlers leave my hair very soft and shiny because of the ceramic coating.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, they are excellent value for money, very easy to use and work brilliantly on my hair. Highly recommended!
I also wish Babyliss provide a silicon holder (mine was bought separately for £7.99) because the tong is very hot. You simply cannot out down the tong while it’s hot!
Only issue I have is that because the on off switch is on the handle it is quite easy to turn it off whilst using it which is a bit annoying, but as it's got LEDs lit up while it's on at least you can see in the mirror if you have accidentally turned it off.
I finally turned to YouTube for some more detailed instructions and advice, as I didn't want to give up on my dream of being able to curl my own hair at home. Thankfully, the first video I found was brilliant, and I have since been able to produce beautiful full curls, that look lovely. I don't know how long they will last as this was the first time I have had a chance to do my whole head, but they look very impressive. I have longish hair (just below shoulders) and have been able to produce tight spirals on shorter sections, and large curls on the longer sections.
This product does seem to be good value for money, and I hope my curls last the evening!
Must admit I have burnt my fingers a couple of times already.
I would have rated these higher apart from one design fault. The first time I used these I was disappointed as they didn’t seem to stay hot. Then I realised that when rolling my hair up I was hitting the switch and turning them off. This doesn’t seem to be an issue with the temp setting switch. I now know to keep an eye on the temperature light in the mirror to make sure they are on but each time I use them I end up turning them off accidentally at least a couple of times.
