This is the second monitor I have gotten. We are so happy with them. They are the right price, web cam works great! When a new one is needed this is what we will buy! Have told everyone where and what we bought. I don't think you can go wrong with this item.

Bought two of these and so far im loving them.. great picture quality, very slick design, and overal just what i needed. the slight angle is not bad at all, it looks great!

Pros:-Looks nice-Mine doesn't have any dead pixels-HDMICons:-The ring stand is cheap & unreliable.-Monitor doesn't stand at 90 degrees.-No built-in speakers (It has a 3.5mm jack to plug in speakers or headphones, & it only works with HDMI)-LED touch-sensor menu is a joke..-Glossy black = Easy smudge

Coming from an aging 19" 4:3 LCD monitor, the Asus is a huge improvement in terms of screen real estate and picture quality. This is a TN panel so I did not expect any miracles in terms of picture quality; however, for the price it is a great buy. It was somewhat tricky to calibrate, and took around and hour to get to the desired results (I'm somewhat picky though). The display is very bright, which was partly the reason calibration is difficult, it is hard to get a good solid blacks/greys, but it is possible to get decent results with some fiddling. That is really the only negative that comes to mind, that calibration can be tricky. Otherwise it is a good monitor for the money and I'm happy with my purchase.NOTE: I did not test the webcam or speakers as I have yet to use them; therefore, these options are not part of my score/review either in a positive or negative factor.

I ordered this to ship directly to my hotel at a convention. It saved me about $300 in on-site rental fees at the show.Excellent clarity and color. The integrated webcam reduces desktop clutter.I have been using it continuously for almost three years now.Only downside was that I lost the software CD when I switched to a different laptop and haven't found downloadable software to use the webcam properly in my new configuration.

After using a 20 inch imac for over 3 years it was time to upgrade. The screen on the 20 inch had become unevenly lit, and had seen it's better days. I decided to upgrade to the new 24 inch imac decked out. After returning 3 yes 3 of them due to screen issues it was time to move on. I got a refund, and decided to purchase a mac pro so I could have control of the screen. I decided this monitor was the best for the money at the time. The first one I got had an obvious stuck pixel. It was green, and just about in the middle of the screen. Anymore I'm used to taking things back as now consumers are the quality control. A couple of button presses later I had another one on the way. I must say for an online retailer amazon has unbelievable customer service. The bad one was picked up at the same time the new one was delivered so I had no down time without a monitor. Thats very important when you just got a new computer that your dieing to get all set up!!! I never even had to talk to one person. Needless to say the replacement monitor was perfect! Maybe not quite as bright as the 24 inch imac, but it was too bright for extended use anyhow. The only problem I have with this monitor is when using a hdmi to dvi cable the monitor will not sleep with the computer. When using a dvi to dvi it sleeps perfectly. Not a big deal as I just turn it off when I leave. Probably saves more energy anyways. So to conclude I am very satisfied with this purchase from amazon.com! Thanks!

I bought this monitor through Amazon and for the price it is an extremely good deal. 24" with a very high contrast level of 20,000:1 and a 2ms response time. It seemed a bit too good to be true and as usual there was one small drawback. There is a dead pixel almost right in the middle of the screen that I barely notice but to some users this could be a tipping point. Many reviews I read had this as a concern and since it does not bother me I went ahead with it anyway.My main use for the monitor is programming where high contrast is a must and perfect color is not as important. I do some design using Adobe Photoshop and I often find that the colors are different as compared to many other standard monitors. I do understand that I could perfect the color settings of the monitor but this is not a worry to me so I have not cared. If you are looking to use the monitor for graphic design purposes I would not recommend it.As for watching movies it is more then adequate if you are willing to watch on a 24" screen. The quality is superb and the contrast leads to an enjoyable viewing experience.As an added point, the monitor does come with an embedded webcam. I am using this connected to my Mac Book Pro through the miniDisplay port. (You will need a DVI adapter to do this) I was initially not able to use the webcam with Mac though a new update came out and it works perfectly with mac OS XOverall I would rate the monitor a 3/5 due to its dead pixel and lack of standardized coloring.[...]

Great size, Great resolution, Great clarity, Great color. Webcam works, and you can tell what you are looking at, which is a bonus. A perfect monitor for the price.

Superb quality. ASUSA technical support is also one of the best. Love it! I give it 15 out of a possible 10 . . .

First of all the bad things:- the first monitor came with a pixel that was always showing green, but once I call Amazon, they sent out a replacement immediately, and this one works well;- the stand is fixed, as it is not height adjustable (you can change tilt), which means it is now sitting on top of a book;- unless you have it very close to perpendicular of your line of sight, the colors get changed a little.Now the good stuff:- it is very bright, doesn't flicker at all, and looks great, as long as your are perpendicular to it;- I have spent many hours on it a day for the past couple of weeks, and my eyes do not get tired;- we are sharing it between 2 computer, so having both the DVI and HDMI input is great.I haven't tested the webcam yet, nor the speakers.All in all I am happy with my purchase at that price. Spending a little more (~$80, which I guess is about 40% more, so not that little) I could have gotten something with also a TV tuner or gone up in size, but decided to save the money.

Easy to set up, great picture, very flexible, and you can't beat the price! I'm using this as a 2nd monitor with the ASUS VW246H 24" LCD Monitor. I use a Dell docking station with a Dell Precision M6400 laptop using DVI connections.I also have a Dell Dimension 5100C (PC workstation) connected separately with a VGA connection (all wiring included). I can switch screens back and forth at the touch of a button (easily going from work to play)!The picture has only become fuzzy 3-4 times in the past month, always when I'm using both screens and trying to access or run a GoToMeeting. This may be an issue with the GoToMeeting software (or my Dell docking station), and not the monitors. A restart has cleared the picture every time. This monitor is just the ticket for the hidden object games I play and for my digital picture editing that I do. I'm using HDMI for input so the picture resolution can't get much better. I could have saved $10 by not getting the monitor with a Webcam. This is the only con I have, a Webcam without a built in microphone does not make good sense. I assumed a mic was part of the monitor when when I ordered it. I'm keeping it anyway because everything else is great.

I bought two 24" monitors at the same time to find out which was better (and because two people need one). The other was the ViewSonic VX2433wm. Viewsonic's monitor has sharper text, and in my opinion looks better. The text on this monitor is a little fuzzy. I found it odd that there was a sharpness setting... most monitors I've used with DVI don't have sharpness an option.The GUI is more refined than the Viewsonic -- you won't see color schemes like 4500k or 8800k. Everything's nicely labeled for you. The speakers on this monitor are very good. If they were on the sides instead of the back, I might even use them instead of my external speakers. The speakers on the Viewsonic are terrible -- what I normally expect from monitor speakers.Another important note is that both monitors are said to be 24" but this one is ACTUALLY 24" while Viewsonic's is 23.6". I couldn't decide which was overall better so I just kept both.

I switched from an AOC 22" VGA monitor to this one, and to be honest I don't see a big change other than this being brighter. I'm using the DVI connection but don't see a big difference haven't seen an HD movie on it, mostly i just game on it or surf the web.Maybe my expectations were bit high, but still I love this monitor it's pretty good, no dead pixels or anything the only thing I don't like it's the Stand that doesn't hold the monitor as firm as it should.

I bought this even though I saw a lot of people complaining about getting the WebCam working. I am happy I did. As part of the install, you must attach the included USB cable to the monitor. This will allow the WebCam to be recognised by the PC. In XP, the WebCam worked just fine without installing any additional software. I decided to try the ASUS software anyhow, and it includes a bunch of nice extras (special effects, overlays, etc...) I am positive that all of the negative reviews regarding the camera had to do with not attaching the USB cable.The monitor itself is great. Now we play Lego Star Wars II at 1920x1080.Update 12-2010:After upgrading to Windows 7 Professional, I downloaded a new version of the software and it did not want to work anymore. I was receiving the same error that told me it is only for a LapTop.Luckily, I had an older copy and once I installed that, it worked.

I upgraded from a 19 inch flat panel wide-screen monitor to this unit. One reason was that my 19 inch could not handle the resolution I wanted. This 24 inch monitor is much better though it is shy of my desired 1200 pixels resolution height (which is what I have at work and when I VPN into it, my home monitor resolution takes over and messes up my work desktop layout and window sizes).No complaints about this new monitor. No dead pixels. Took it out of the box, put it into its base, plugged in the cables, set the resolution to max, and used it. I do notice that because it is so wide, I have to actually turn my head side-to-side to see whatever is at the edges. One annoying thing about having a wide monitor is that whenever I open up a new window, it is waaaaayyy off to the left and I must always drag it to the center of the screen.I have yet to try the webcam. In fact, I have not even taken off the packing tape that came on it, much less use the install CD that came with the monitor.

Picked this up for my girls room. They like to record themselves dancing and whatnot, so the built in camera was a nicety - no need to get a clip on or desktop camera to clutter up their desk. Camera works fine, it's not high resolution, but it gets the job done. Color reproduction on the monitor is not perfect, but ok for the asking price. There weren't any dead or stuck pixels on mine.

Just received this and set it up today. Out of the box I found it to be a little bright. I liked the Theater Mode preset the best of the out-of-the-box preset options. I also found a forum thread on the ASUS site that had some calibration setting suggestions. One of those is working well for me. See for yourself at:[...]I've got this hooked up to my MacBook Pro using DVI with the Mini Display Port to DVI adapter from Apple. The MBP picked the monitor up immediately, set it to full 1920x1080 resolution and gave me all the appropriate Display settings in the System Preference panel.For the money, I think it would be tough to beat this monitor. ASUS has been good to me in the motherboard and barebone world - so hopefully the same will hold true for this monitor.

This is a great monitor, it comes with an integrated webcam ( for those having trouble getting the camera to work..must connect the usb cable that came with the monitor) No dead pixels and great functions. I personality like the Theater mode. Overall good monitor, decent viewable size.

I just purchased this monitor--moving from an older IBM 21 inch CRT monitor and WOW what a difference! Just reclaimed what seemed like 4 square feet of desk space and not to mention the power bill also improved by probably $50 a month! Honestly though--great picture out of the box. Maybe a bit too vivid if I was being picky but I believe most people will love the picture it produces without any adjustments. I decided to breakout my calibration disk that I used on my HDTV so I set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and then tweaked the contrast, brightness, etc and once done it was fantastic! Blacks are very good for an LCD--but do not expect plasma levels. Very quick refresh rate--I was a bit worried that when I play games that I would see ghosting--Nope. None. When playing HD video on ITunes, it looked very good. I highly recommend the monitor to anyone. The price/value ratio is the best I could find.

I just got this monitor, have been using it only for 2 days. The price is a good deal at 230$ range and the monitor is presenting a really good view so far. Ran some tests to detect whether there are noticeable dead pixels but did not come across any, guess I am lucky or just they were to small to notice on huge screen.I would definitely advise this monitor to people that are looking for a cheaper solution especially for gaming.I have not tried the speakers nor the webcam on it - since I do not need them.

This monitor was recommended to me by our IT tech at work due to its balance of features and high image quality at a moderate price. And he was right, it's a really excellent value. It has multiple inputs, including HDMI, a high contrast ratio, and is certainly big enough at 24". The aspect ratio is 16:9, corresponding to HD TV. I would have no problem using this to view DVDs in HD. Visitors to my office have commented how good the image looks. I'm very happy with this product and the price, and I'm considering buying one out of my own pocket for home.

I had just purchased a new PC and needed a monitor. Like most, I checked the reviews posted and thought that I would give the ASUS VW246H a try. I couldn't be more pleased. There were no dead pixels. Lots of real estate for all of my applications. Call of Duty 4 and 5 looked great on this monitor. No problem with refresh rate or ghosting. I also purchased a tv tuner for my pc and now watch TV on it. The HDTV looks fantastic. My only negative is the built-in speakers. They aren't very good. Just be sure to get a set of those too.

This product is a high quality piece of electronics at an affordable price. My only complaint is the install cd that came with the shipment for the web cam was not for this flat panel according to their tech support, it was for a notebook. you must go out to their web site and download the install executable
