After nearly two months of living with this monitor I think I can write a long winded report on it.I'm the guy this monitor was designed for, a graphic designer. This monitor is used for web, photography and fine artwork reproduction purposes. I don't really do video games or movies on my PC, so you'll need to turn to some other reviewers here or elsewhere for opinions for the frame rate and ghosting issues. However, you're here mostly because you're looking for a wide gamut monitor that produces 100% of the sRGB space, and 98% Adobe RGB - 130% more than most TFT type monitors.I've been staring at graphics monitors since 1982 starting with Barco's that were 12" across and 20" deep. They could give you a tan. Finally when Macs became real workhorses in the late 80's, we started to see a range of consumer based color monitors with great color reproduction. I worked mostly with the "big" 15" Apples for a few years. Then after a short stint with some NEC's in 1995 I got a 20" Radius (Sony) CRT monitor - that went for a cool $2k. But boy that thing was dialed in. In 2005 I finally made the move to a nice, small, cool, flat (PVA) panel - a Samsung 910T. The Samsung was as close to state of the art color accuracy as I could get while still being affordable. It's served me well for web design, animation and fudging with pantone colors on the extreme end. I've used a second Samsung for my "palette" monitor.Recently after purchasing a large format scanner and printer for my wife's artwork, I was finding that the calibrated Samsung just wasn't allowing me to color correct scans for printing, or match printing. Oil pastels are capable of nearly fluorescent colors, something I've never had to worry about in the past! Our printer too is able to print colors I couldn't reproduce on the Samsung. I scoured the reviews on the internet. For my purposes I found that 24" was really the only choice for "affordable" wide gamut monitors, 27" ones at the time of this writing don't have the same spec. After narrowing my choices the Asus was always tops on the list because of good reviews, warranty and rapid replacement; finally the recent (from Amazon) price drop to $450 really sealed the deal. Oh yes, I only considered 16:10 ratio - something to watch for as corners are being cut and 16:9 becomes the norm. The Panel:Now I can really see what I've been missing. Out of the box the colors seemed fine, I first noticed that the sRGB settings seemed the most normal, the Adobe RGB seemed a bit reddish to me. The user mode was incredibly bright and blue, but that's because it's got no settings! First thing was to calibrate the monitor with my ColorMunki Display. I highly recommend this device, the Xrite i1Display Pro or one of the Datacolor products such as the Spyder 3 Pro for critical work. When calibrating, the screen goes from a series of white shades and hues to full-on-colors and values to gray scales back to whites. Interestingly, in all the dozens of screens I could see the evenness of color and illumination distribution on the panel with only the slightest vignetting on the very corners. Once calibrated, I could see the huge difference between this and the standard color settings. Viewing angle is something you'd appreciate if you're coming from a TN panel, it's simply not an issue. A quick word about the AG coating - it's a simple smooth matt type finish. It distributes ambient and direct light well, but you can see lights behind you. I much prefer this type of solution to some others that attempt to eliminate glare, and/or spread it out. This (to me) is a great compromise, YMMV.Luminance:One potential complaint I've heard about this and similar panels are the inability to reduce the luminance. Prad claimed a minimum of 127 cd/m2 achieved on their test device. I tried both 120 (recommended) and 100, and there was a noticeable difference between the two. The Colormunki is unfortunately not able to report on final measured luminance so I can't verify a figure. I can only say that the overall brightness is no worse than my old PVA monitor now. Ultimately I allow the Colormunki to adjust luminance for room ambience anyway as I'm in a room with 2 windows, and the room changes light drastically throughout the day.Color rendition:I've heard a lot of people complain about over-saturated "radioactive" colors on these type monitors when using settings besides sRGB. Be aware that not all programs such as the desktop, browsers or picture viewers are color managed. Overall, besides the extended color range and amazing gradations, probably the biggest difference I'm noticing is the depth of blacks. There's a huge dynamic range of dark that's been lost to me for ages with panels. I scored a 0 on x-rite's color scoring test using this monitor, and an 11 on my old monitor. Yeah, probably doing it twice helped too, but it really seemed a lot easier with the Asus this time around. For a male my age a zero is a pretty big deal!Appearance:This monito

First - this review is for the ASUS monitor and their lousy customer service. It has nothing to do with Amazon's performance.I ordered this monitor to replace a ViewSonic TN screen for photo editing. Ordering and shipping were both fine, the monitor arrived on time and in great shape. On the second day, the screen started to flicker and jump and then would go black for one second before starting the whole flicker process over again. This happened randomly, and regardless of what software I was using. I read on-line and was advised to swap out the cords and try another monitor. I did that, and I knew it wasn't the computer since it had been working perfectly with the ViewSonic on the day the ASUS arrived. I did everything I could find online, to no avai. After another two days of trying this and that, I sent an email to ASUS customer service. I described the flaws in the monitor and listed the specs of my CPU, OS, and graphics card. I also listed all of the things I had already tried. ASUS promised a response within 48 hours. Not a chance. 5 days later, I got an email from "Stacey" that was barely intelligible. It advised me to swap out the cords and try another monitor - all of the things I had told them I already did. They then advised to contact the retailer for a return authorization. I gave up and arranged for a replacement with Amazon. I'll put the defective monitor in UPS tomorrow, and Amazon says they'll have a new one here in two days. I've always heard such good things about Amazon's return policy, but I've never yet had the need to use it. If they follow through with their promises, I'm going to be very impressed. As for ASUS, the fact that their product was defective isn't the problem. Anyone can have a bad item. I'm very disappointed in their customer service. They didn't promise much, and they didn't even do that. I doubt I will buy another ASUS product.I'll revise this review after the replacement comes.Revision:Amazon was outstanding. They had the replacement here before I could get the faulty monitor to UPS. It was flawless and painless, and the return took very little of my time and was at no cost. It wouldn't have cost me any time if I had let UPS pick up the returned monitor. The new monitor arrived early and has performed without a hitch. I'm very, very glad I got this with Amazon Prime and that I could deal directly with Amazon for the return. I'll certainly make that a priority in the future. I don't see how anyone could do better than Amazon on this return.ASUS customer service is still a bad joke.

Pros * It's got a unique, very slick look two-toned look. * Very thin. * The screen quality is more than respectable for the price. * The headphone/speaker jack that pipes out sound when using an HDMI connection is a nice touch.Cons * Labels for the menu buttons don't light up until the button is touched. * Shiny black finish that's used for the front of the monitor scratches extremely easily.? * The "ring stand" that is used to keep the monitor propped up works well, but some may not like its look. * Touch sensitive buttons could be a turn off to some.Keeping with ASUS tradition this monitor is priced low, and works well. The look of it is striking when you first see it -- it almost resembles an all-in-one PC. Unlike most monitors, there is no long stand, just a "ring" of sorts that keeps the monitor at a slight angle for proper viewing. The monitor itself sits flush with the its sitting on so subsequently, you can't see under it. This works well for hiding the cords sticking out from behind the unit, as you can't see them at all. All in all I think this monitor is really, really attractive but since it is "different", it will be an acquired taste for some people. The black (front) and white (back) color scheme for the unit is really great looking, not to mention how shockingly thin the entire unit is but be warned: be cautious when you are cleaning it or if you have long finger nails, because it is ridiculous how easily the paint finish on this monitor scratches.Additionally I feel the need to expand on the "ring stand" a bit more; because I've definitely seem some complaints about it not being sturdy. Personally I've had no problems with it, but if you were to put too much stress on it by trying to "over-adjust" the angle of the monitor -- I could see some problems arising. So far though no problems here, as it does what it needs to do. Also it can be taken off or put back on pretty easily, which is nice. The screen quality itself is nothing mind blowing but it's very solid nonetheless, and I have no complaints about it. From gaming to general computing it looks perfectly fine -- for the price I paid I'd couldn't be more happy with the quality. The resolution is 1920x1080 which makes for an extremely spacious desktop for working with multiple programs, and having come from using a much lower resolution I don't think I could ever go back to anything less. The array of ports on this monitor is pretty standard -- an HDMI and a DVI port (with an HDMI to DVI cable included for good measure.) The lack of a VGA port I'm sure will disappoint some people, but I don't personally use that connection so it's no big deal to me. There is also a headphone/speaker port which is really useful. So, here is my biggest problem with this monitor -- the touch sensitive buttons. Over each button is label of what the button does -- but that label does not light up until you pushed the button, so you often will end up in a menu when you're trying to simply change the contrast or vice versa. Very odd over-sight, but I will say that the buttons are perfectly sensitive. You don't have to push a button two or three times for it to recognize, you just often don't know what that button will do before pushing it.So there you have it, in closing I will say that aside from a few small issues this monitor is pretty darn good. I absolutely recommend it, from the solid screen quality to the attractive price to the even more attractive design it gets a not perfect, but still above average four stars.

Having read many reviews about a great many monitors in the month prior to purchase, it was with a degree of trepidation that I ordered the ASUS VK246H 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor with built in web cam. I was somewhat on the fence about the camera model because I have nothing but mac computers these days, 15 years now and never have looked back.. .. but i digress. A few of the reviews I read were very pleased to say that the webcam worked with their macs and some apparently did not realize that the usb cable was necessary to operate the camera. Well .. at first i placed the order as usual with super saver free shipping, figuring that if the camera did not work, I would decide what to do about that at the time.. anyway ..the date proposed for delivery was near two almost three weeks away. So, i called customer service and the young lady from Amazon who assisted me suggested dropping the original order and signing up for the free trial of Amazon Prime.. I was elated to know that the trial is three months long .. can be canceled at any time, and by the time the monitor was reordered I was now a member of Amazon Prime. Well much to my disbelief, the monitor arrived two mornings thereafter ... and i would say i was near stunned to have such almost instant turnaround to say the least, and that the shipping container arrived in perfect condition, and inside was yet another box with the ASUS packaging, also in pristine condition. I was very excited and went about the unpacking rather methodically so as not to miss anything, like all the cabling that came with it.. opening bagged cables and what not, the base etc... well by then i had already moved the old monitor off of my desk and plugged in all the necessities into my mac mini server. Pressed the on button on the mini and bada boom.. the most beautiful bright clear screen i've ever owned came to life and that was that :) .. Perfect.. for me.. would not be too strong.. no messing with settings immediately, standard mode was just fine .. of course the mac recognized it like they were old friends, went immediately to 1080p and my corner of the world of computers had stepped into a future i had not expected. Bright, sharp, clear.. thrilling, my first LCD monitor aside from my mac book pro.. I went about the normal things i do in the morning looking at email, various pages i keep an eye on .. and then.. i remembered.. this things has a web cam.... So.. i opened photo booth and nigh on instantly .. there was my mug on the screen lookin back at me. I was surprised and pleased that the camera being only 1.3 was so sharp and defined (now..for sure i need a facelift):), i think i even forgot to make coffee :) Simply could not get my fill of just how nice it was. Now I'm no expert on screens, and I had read some of the rather more critical reviews about dead pixels and how the color was only so good but none of it mattered, i was lucky enough to get a monitor with no dead pixels and now.. a full month later i'm writing my review. To say that .. for the money, the monitor was an excellent buy would be a severe understatement, and the fact of the camera being a mere ten dollars more than the model sans camera truly adds to the overall perfect experience, from both Amazon as well as ASUS. I would recommend this monitor to anyone who wants to spend a modest amount of money and get top quality and workmanship, not a scratch or blemish of any kind to be found. Amazon and ASUS both deserve high marks for a well made and well marketed product that i am quite sure will keep me satisfied for years to come. i suggest that you read all the reviews and make up your own mind of course, but, i'm a rather cagey and critical rascal when it comes to computer equipment. Haven't got anything critical to say about the entire process. Buy from Amazon with confidence. And Mac users... the camera works beautifully .. take the chance if you're uncertain, i'm sure glad i did.. and check out Amazon prime. If you order often, it will pay for itself rapidly in terms of fast and satisfying shopping.. I don't think i would cross the street to purchase anything like this again.. I'll call Amazon first and you should too. Oh... and by the way, watchin movies is a royal panic, full HD, wow ... what a bargain !!!

The ASUS PA246Q is an awesome affordable accurate monitor that, when calibrated, will produce close to 100% of the Adobe RGB spectrum. I recently bought 2 and both have helped me create and analyze my work at a far more critical level than I was able to before. For someone who works with many forms of media day in and out, this is a huge plus! Both monitors have been awesome in almost every single respect, except for one thing. One of the monitors I received had a dead pixel, and I failed to adequately inspect the monitor and the screen in enough time to exchange it through Amazon.com. Big deal right? I'll just go through ASUS support and get and RMA through them, since it was after all, sold with a Zero bright pixel policy, and the general warranty covered manufacturing errors for up to 1 year. It had barely been a month since I bought it so I figured it would be a pretty simple process.3 months later, I am still desperately trying to get ASUS to authorize an advance RMA for this thing. I've called 5 times with each rep being more clueless than the last, some of whom have tried to deny me an RMA at all because I needed at least 6 dead pixels to RMA. Each time I pointed out the Zero tolerance policy posted on their own website, and they suddenly appeared to be much more helpful after that. I almost thought I was going to receive a replacement after I had filled out and sent in some paperwork for the advance RMA, but that was a month ago, and no replacement has shown up.I could go on, but I think you get the point. Am I ever going to get a replacement? Maybe, or maybe not. Your guess is a good as mine. I used to think ASUS was a good solid company, and because of that I have bought many different products from them. But after this, I don't think I'll be doing that again.Even with the dead pixel, had ASUS simply done its part and made the RMA a pain free experience, I would have still recommended this monitor. But because it has been 3 months (and counting) and I still have no replacement, I can't recommend this product to anyone. No business deserves to survive if it treats its customers this poorly.

This is an AMAZING monitor. I consider myself a techie and I spent nearly a month searching for the best lcd monitor that wouldn't break the bank. This is by far one of the best purchases I've made in my life. If you are still looking around debating between monitors, please don't waste anymore time. Get this one. I did the research, read and watched tons of reviews on tons of monitors and this one has exceeded my expectations, which were very high. It's 2 ms response time is great and there is absolutely no ghosting (I've ran tests on it). The contrast is superb, although the blacks could be a little deeper at times, but still, they are great and I am very, very particular about good black levels. The monitor is extremely clear and it truly shines at 1080p. I've played multiple games on my ps3 through the hdmi port on this monitor and I can surely say that this is the best I've ever seen my games look, even when I compare to other lcd tv's I've connected it. This monitor is so clear that I notice details in games that I had never noticed before. This monitor also has an audio out (headphone jack) port, which is not common among cheaper lcd monitors, which only have the audio in for sound from your pc (this has both), and it's phenomenal because I can connect my sound system to the monitor and not have to deal with it's built in speakers. I personally have not used the built in speakers, but seriously, you probably aren't either considering that you could get a decent set of computer speakers for $10 or $20. It also has a dvi and vga port. My computer is connected through vga, and it looks extraordinary in 1080p. The screen is massive and text is extremely clear. Even the smallest text will still come out clear and readable. The colors are vibrant and pop out very well. I never knew how good games like Pixel Junk Eden could look until I purchased this monitor. Oh yeah, and for those of you worried about dead pixels (I was too), mine came with no dead pixels. I trust amazon's policy and I'd say as long as you purchase the monitor from here, you should be fine. I've owned it for about a week now, and I can surely say that this was a great purchase. The only con I've had is that the monitor has an auto sleep feature if it doesn't get signal from whatever you have connected for 1-2 secs, which is a very short time frame. This can get pretty annoying because sometimes I have to shut the monitor off and turn it back on to get the picture back from my ps3 because it stops displaying signal sometimes when it's loading a game, and that makes the monitor go to sleep. But really, that happens very infrequently and this monitor starts up in less than 2 secs, which makes that much less annoying. So in conclusion, if you are looking for an lcd monitor, BUY THIS ONE NOW. The picture quality is amazing (and I am very particular about the clarity of my displays) and the monitor itself looks great as well. The stand may look like a cheap plastic in the picture, but in reality it looks great and feels more like a high quality rubbery material with a ring of gloss on it which matches the glossy finish of the monitor. The screen is matte which is great so it doesn't reflect light and the colors are extremely vibrant and high definition picture looks beautiful on this monitor. All in all, I love this monitor and I'm sure you will too.My settings: Scenery mode, brightness 58, contrast 80, ASCR off, Sharpness 44, Saturation 59, H Position 51, V-Position 50, Color Temp Cool

This screen has incredible color (it's full HD 1080p), and the webcam is great too (don't forget to hook up the USB and install the CD!!). The only downside is that it takes the screen FOREVER to detect the image. If the screen is in standby mode (orange LED) and I turn my computer on, the LED switches to blue showing there's a signal but the screen stays black. I have to turn off the monitor, then switch it back on for the image to appear, which defeats the purpose of standby mode. Other than this issue, the monitor is an excellent buy. It has an HDMI slot, DVI, and VGA. theres also an audio out jack. DVI, VGA, and audio out cords are all included with the purchase (HDMI isn't). All things considered, this monitor is fantastic with beautiful picture quality. I was pleased with my purchase.

I was intrigued by the display stand but later realized it was not nearly as useful as a standard tilting stand. The ring on back allows a very narrow adjustment of display angles, and the display cannot be tilted "down", as I would like. Classic form over function, and I fell for it. Other than that, the display is fine.

I bought this LCD Monitor because of the measurements that they had listed, 25" x 18", however when i received the item, it looked smaller than what they had advertised. So, i measured it, and it was 22" x 13 1/2". The measurements was mis-leading. I never used the item itself. I am sure it's fine.

I had this monitor for about 8 months and more or less loved every minute of it. Backed by external speakers in a dark room, this monitor provides an immersive Xbox 360 experience at half of the cost of other monitors. The picture quality has NEVER disappointed me and not once have I noticed any dead pixels or ghosting, etc. However, I urge you to beware of this monitor's fragile nature and propensity to fall over. Because of space limitations in my room, I have to sit in a place that's lower than where my monitor projects, and it's hard to see the monitor at that angle. I prop it up with a small item, normally a CD case, so that it can be flat or nearly flat. The ring-stand was a mistake on ASUS's part: it offers only a limited amount of tilt adjustment; if you make it any more vertical than the ring stand allows, this monitor will fall over quite often. I always had a cushy place for it to land and it was fine when it would faceplant on my bed or something softer. It bit the dust when it fell over on my desk: the corner of my desk demolished the screen. To put the screen perpendicular to the ground does two things: it makes the viewing angle acceptable and enjoyable to watch and it greatly increases the monitor's risk of falling forward. The ring stand is far from an "innovation". Rather, it is a step back.If you don't have space constraints and you don't mind the >5? viewing angle, buy this monitor because it served me very well for almost a year. Otherwise, stay away from the ring stand. It doesn't look cool, save space, or improve viewing quality. I should've just duct taped the damn thing to the wall.

There are so many monitors out there I was almost apprehensive while looking around. But when I saw this unique style I knew I had to have it...the common base stand pales in comparison to the transparent ring that supports the less-than-inch thick panel. The screen is huge! Maybe it's because this is my first monitor above 16", but this monitor is huge! mostly the screen, the edges aren't very wide, however the black bar at the bottom does seem a bit large. The colors are great, didn't have to do much tweaking before I found the right colors. However, I had heard about it before, the touch-sensitive buttons are pretty bad. You can't see the icon of what the button is until after you press it, the buttons aren't always responsive, and difficult to navigate the menu...however the large power button is very nice and have never had troubles with it. The panel worked straight out of the box. There is an outside adapter, however it is very very small, the power cord is unnoticeable. Also comes with VGA and dvi-hdmi cords, which are all useful. There are some limitations in having this design. There will always be a tilt in the screen, it will never stand 90 degrees...also cannot tilt back more than about 70 degrees...this is all something I knew beforehand and knew would work with the setup I have. The official ASUS site said that the monitor was designed with the laptop in mind, it is supposed to mimic a laptops screen so as to be a good extension. I recommend the table that you set it on be low, so that you are looking down on the monitor, your eyes being near the top, since the viewing angle from below isn't that great, however the viewing angle from above is perfect. viewing angle from the sides isn't that great either. I absolutely love the matte finish. I use it in a very well-lit room with multiple lights, some of which are spotlights, the screen is not-reflective and very bright! I ended up having to turn down the brightness to about 20%! Colors and pixel density seem great. Smudges easily wipe off, this monitor is very light-weight. My desk is not very wide so this is a great option, it only needs about 6-8" of depth to stand.Pros-cheap-design quality-23.6" of great matte screen-lightweight, easy to useCons-touch-buttons-stand limitationsI know it would be hard to include in an ultra slim model, but I would have loved to seen speakers of some sort incorporated, especially with the HDMI port, however it's no big deal. I had never thought of ASUS as a quality manufacturer...however this product has changed my mind, I will definitely buy again, considering if this monitor lasts a while.

This monitor has great features and excellent screen quality... with beautiful 10-bit color and contrast. The downside: Asus has horrible quality control with this specific model. I'm not sure about their other monitors, but it's a gamble whether or not you will get a good monitor. I went through 3 monitors, which all had bright pixels, stuck pixels, dead pixels. The third monitor had flickering issues. It would continually flash for no reason and randomly turn off and on. Sometimes it would flicker repeatedly for an hour. Other times it would work just fine. There are videos on YouTube depicting this issue. The third defective monitor was enough...I'm currently looking for a better monitor. Asus: get your act together - there is no reason why you should be selling so many defective monitors. These monitors need to be properly inspected before being shipped out to retailers. It's a shame because I really wanted to keep this monitor!

Just picked up one of these bad boys and so far I'm impressed.Note on shipping: though the shipping estimate said I would get it in about 7 days with Prime (weird?), it came next day, about 24 hours after I clicked purchase. You have to love Amazon.Versus Other Displays: As an amateur in the color space world, I'm still getting used to the colors vs my other Asus monitors. I'm having a hard time getting all three monitors to play nice together, but I think that mainly has to do with the low quality of my other two 25" ASUS displays. I purchased a Spyder3 Express monitor calibration device and now at least all of the white balances are the same across the three monitors, but the PA246Q is clearly of much better quality. As far the monitor by itself, it's pretty amazing. The settings that it comes with are deep and the colors that it can display are breath taking. I have yet to do any really heavy lifting with it, just mostly Photoshop, Lightroom and regular web usage. It might just be me, but the AdobeRGB profile looks really red... but again I'm still learning how to set everything up. I'm sure someone a lot more experienced than me will have thoughts on that.UPDATE (3/2/2011): I calibrated everything correctly (thanks to some Google searching), embedded the color profile to some photos, and sent them off to be processed. Result? Almost perfect 1:1 representation of what I saw on the screen to what I got back from the printer. Was just a tad darker in the print than the screen, but I would think that has to do with the printer. Tickle me impressed.Cons: As far as I can tell right now, the only con for this monitor is the price. There is a Dell 24" with IPS that sells for about $30 less or so. Also, though the monitor is almost silent, it does give off a fair amount of heat. But to be honest, you should expect that from any 24" monitor. Conclusion: So far I'm really happy. In a perfect world I would be rolling with three of these babies and not just one in the middle of a three monitor set up.

After a little research I decided to take a chance on the new IPS Asus P246Q. Here's my review; First and foremost, I consider myself to be a serious hobbyist with regards to photography. I have been working with either a calibrated 10 year old 19" Trinitron CRT or my 15 inch Dell ultra sharp laptop monitor and my print jobs, both old and new, were a little hit and miss, more miss than hit. I purchased a 23 inch Samsung LED and worked with it for a couple of weeks. I was less than enamored so I returned it to the brick and mortar retailer. I pulled the trigger on the Asus. When it arrive the first thing I noticed was the method and materials used to package the monitor. It was packed as one would expect a high end piece of equipment should be. This is in comparison to the Samsung I purchased and returned. The monitor itself was heavier and the provided cables were premium grade. I plugged it in, loaded the driver, and set it to factory defaults. After it warmed up, I calibrated it with the Spyder II. I opened up LR3, a landscape image is almost 8.5 X 11. Holy crap I can see stuff that I was unable to see before. I fired off a couple of prints through the 3880. . . . . bada boom bada bing, PERFECTION!!!!!!!!! What I saw on the monitor is what came out of the printer. What I love most is that can move around and the screen remains sharp, bright, and without color shift. When calibrating I noticed that the colors remained constant from the top of the screen to the very bottom and left to right. Simply stated, I am one happy camper. Best of all? The screen has a dull finish unlike my old CRT and laptop monitor. So if your thinking of a new monitor for 2011 I highly recommend the Asus.

For the price, this is a good monitor. It is difficult to calibrate and the colors are a little hot. I use this to connect to my Macbook Pro (needs a mini-dvi adapter) when I need a bigger screen. The HDMI input is great to connect to the satellite receiver on Saturdays so I can watch more than one football game. The viewing angle is limited.I gave it 4 stars because it serves my needs for a very reasonable price. However, don't expect the high quality color and clarity performance you might see on a more expensive monitor.

I am a professional 15 years old experienced digital artist. I am working with professional screens at work, I also have dell 24wfp at home, I order this monitor from amazon for using dual screen for my reference pictures and web browsing on the other monitor, I wasn't expecting amazing quality, but I am really surprised with the image quality, my $800 Dell monitor is only slightly better then this Asus. First time I plug it, it was too bright, I mean the images, not the screen. I was kind of disappointed. Then I discover the scenery mode and I tweak the brightness, sharpness and the saturation, like about 5-10 minutes I get almost the same image like my dell monitor. Do not bother the other setups, just select the scenery mode and put this settings up,Brightness 51, Contras 64, Sharpness 44, Saturation 50 or 55. so it's pretty much the same as calibrated dell 24wfp screen. There is some downs on this monitor too, Up and down angles are getting darker, Left right is better, you don't move your head up and down much so if you can get the right angle it will work great. if you like to put your monitor high up, you are going to hate the stand, it is horrible. You can not move your monitor up and down, I put a ikea furniture piece to raise it up.it is looking good actually, I glued some artwork on it, now it looks retro, I love it, but I am lucky that I have this furniture piece, Otherwise I might going to use books to raise it so it could be looks boring because I can only use my old Stephen king books as a raiser. :)There is also details lost on light images, it is very very slight, sharpness is great, colors are amazing, I turn down the green a little like %3 to match my pro screen. So overall I am very pleased with this monitor even after stand and brightness works.I still draw my images on my dell screen, because it's a bit better, also it has 1920x1600, so there is 120 pixel difference vertically.so, it is perfect for second monitor, but if it is your only monitor and you are a digital artist, buy pro monitors. For other type of user this monitor is supersonic! Actually even if you are digital artist with a tight budget or if you are a beginner artist, it might be your favorite monitor.if my pro screen dies, I might get one more Asus, and use that $600 difference for buying 600 glow stick from dollar stores then crack them at the same time and watch them.Other then the image quality, I never test the speakers or HDMI I don't care.Digital camera is not working with XP 64 bit because there is no driver, so it feels like my asus monitor has a blind eye on top of her head.Anyways this is a good buy, for $209, it's a steal. I recommend this monitor anyone except digital artist who is going to use it as a main monitor as a main monitor.

I was looking for a good monitor to complete my computer build and i found it. I got this monitor because it had a built in webcam, and i wanted a huge monitor since i have been looking at little laptop monitors for the last 5 years. This monitor works really well, and the webcam works like a charm. I have been using windows 7 for the last few months, and it works great with skype.I recently "hackintoshed" my computer, so now i have both windows 7 and osx snow leopard. I noticed that when i use iChat to video chat in osx, everything appears darker. I am not sure if this is an issue with the webcam, low lighting, or how the software handles the image. my guess is the latter, since everything works great in windows. This product is only listed as pc hardware, but the webcam does work in osx, and the monitor works perfectly.

This is a beautiful monitor it has better picture than any lcd I've seen and I just shopped for them.Truly makes games look as real as they can, my photos look great too.Easy to hook up however the default settings are very bright and need tuning. The webcam is 640x480 with digital zoom and no mic.I got this and a surround sound system today probably won't sleep for a week or two :>.I did not test the onboard speakers they are back mounted so it will be pretty weak.all in all for a true hd monitor on sale under $200 is a steal I wish I could aford two hahahaha 48ins for $400.UpdateAfter using it for a bit I find that watching dvd especially 2:35 ones is problematic at best, very odd as that should be an easy fix on aspect control. This is not the only problem as with ALL flats it hates and despises low resolutions so don't even try to set it below 1024x768.The Webcam while overstated is good and works well as a room monitor and an external mic can be added seemlessly. All in all my rating still stands just a bit more info for discerning buyers, the on board speaker are better than expected...

When this monitor was first released there were occasional complaints (posted on other online retailer sites) about bright green pixels, and the lack of support from Asus if the stuck pixel count was less than three. Sometime within the last week Asus updated their policy for this model. They now state the following on the product page at asus dot com.Quote:"The PA246Q comes with a 3 year local warranty as well as a 3 year Zero Bright Dot guarantee that ensures full replacement if there's so much as 1 bright dot pixel. Plus, ASUS Rapid Replacement provides fast and free replacement in no time at all."/quoteHope this helps.

I bought this monitor because it has a high color gamut. It is more expensive than other 24" monitors, but once calibrated, what is displayed on the screen matches my printer perfectly. It is VERY bright out of the box, and I had to turn the brightness all the way down to zero. Works perfectly.

Nice looking monitor. Decent color and resolution.Webcam is a nice plus for using Skype, etc. However, this monitor does not have a built in microphone and without the microphone, you really can't do much with the webcam. If you are interested in using Skype and having a conversation, you will need to go out and buy a mike and you'll have a choice of something that has to sit on your desk or something that you wear around your head. I would have gladly paid a few extra dollars to have it built into the monitor.Just food for thought.

My office bought me a pair of these monitors a couple of months ago:PROS-I'm sure they were cheapCONS-Screen will sometimes (usually) display random "block butterflies" (as I call them)... essentially random color lines of alternating pixel blocks 2 tall and 10 wide (1/16" x 1/4") and those will be in groups of 16 or so and scattered across the screen. As bad as that sounds, they are non-obtrusive and do not greatly deter me from working. I think they would be terrible if you were presenting to someone or using it for media.-They come with a rather goofy stand... it is just a "circle" that keeps the monitor from falling backwards (the monitor resting its bottom directly on the desk), and thus almost without any adjustment of height or angle.-The screen adjustment "buttons" are touch-activated and although "attractive" do not function well in my opinion.Overall, they work, I would reserve their use as purely utilitarian.

Mounted aspire Revo 3610 on VESA mount holes. Hooked up an old SUN Microphone and velcroed it above the camera(We tend to talk into the camera, anyway! :) Plugged in HDMI for video, sound and USB for webcam and away I go with windows 7. Good packaging and delivery. Documentation included. I don't know about any dead pixels. I don't see any. I did have to buy the HDMI cable separately. Hooked it up with google talk and tested it with my daughter and her MACBOOK. So now I can see my kid when we talk from east coast to west coast. Image is clear and bright. Time will tell, but I'm very pleased with this unit so far. I do set my windows display for 150% because I tend to sit back from the screen to put my legs up on the desk and the keyboard on my lap and my eyes are not what they used to be yet I have absolutely no problems reading screen from about 3-4 feet away. (Side note: atom 330 nettop with nvidia ion chipset is a little slow on the uptake and leaves trails of your image, but that is no reflection on the monitor. My daughter's image from the Quad core MacBook comes in clear, crisp and responsive to movements - no trails)

To make the long story short, I have got nothing but happiness with it. and the webcam works beautifully...

It still has the same resolution since the day I owned it.At work I work on many computers with many different monitors, and if I were to recommend any monitor, it would be this one.

This was my first LCD purchase so I was really excited. Unfortunately mine arrived with a stuck pixel. The pixel is green so is very visible whenever image is dark. It is pretty near center so quite annoying. I have tried the things recommended online to fix it (pixel unsticking software, gentle massaging/tapping, spot pressure cycling on/off) with no luck. I have given up as don't want to make things worse. I learned that Tigerdirect, who is the Amazon seller, requires you to first contact manufacturer for a return, and maufacturer's normal policy is at least (5) bad pixels before will consider. So looks like I am gonna have to learn to live with this darn stuck green pixel. Not happy. Concerning the rest of the monitor. The size is awesome. The overally image quality is good once you turn down the brightness and contrast (I use theater mode). Response is fast. Working the buttons is a pain; location is poor and the menu navigation is not user-friendly. The monitor in my opinion has a "cheap" feel. If I could do again would buy another brand (maybe Samsung, LG or Viewsonic?). I am glad most of you are happy. A guy online said he purchases monitors from brick and mortar retail outlets so can check out before purchase and easily return if a problem. This seems like good advice whick I will keep in mind for next time.

This is OK as a display only. However, I bought it mostly for the in-built webcam. It is useless because there is either no built in microphone (or if there is one it doesn't work), and the software supplied for the webcam doesn't work either (it gives a message "Lifeframe works on Asus laptops only"). So if you're buying this to use with Skype or IM software it isn't nearly as good as it seems.

I have recently built a new computer to suit all my needs. This monitor was my top choice because of the size and cost of the product. When It was delivered I double checked the model number thinking they had shipped me a TV by accident! Its just that big! I'm running 1920x1080p on this screen and it looks amazing! It also works well with the games I've played on it. For 200 dollars I don't think you could get a better monitor. The one thing I didn't like about it was the fact that it lacks any kind of adjustment features. I would advise looking into it before you decide to buy.

First many thanks to Amazon & [...] was expecting about 3 to 5 days free shipping.. arrived next day!!As for the monitor, truly amazing. Set up was less than a minute, worked as soon I plugged it into my Dell Hybrid with no adjustments necessary. The ring stand is not only aesthetically pleasing but works great. I have a very skinny desk and not only does the screen fit but so does my keyboard, whereas my previous 15" laptop didn't quite fit!The angle is perfect for viewing, again no adjustment needed. Why buy Mac or any other monitor for that matter.. this thing is absolutely gorgeous and for only $200 and change.. you couldn't ask for more.. unbelievable quality and deal. This is my very first ASUS product purchase, will be buying from this manufacturer in the future.

Coming from an aging 19" 4:3 LCD monitor, the Asus is a huge improvement in terms of screen real estate and picture quality. This is a TN panel so I did not expect any miracles in terms of picture quality; however, for the price it is a great buy. It was somewhat tricky to calibrate, and took around and hour to get to the desired results (I'm somewhat picky though). The display is very bright, which was partly the reason calibration is difficult, it is hard to get a good solid blacks/greys, but it is possible to get decent results with some fiddling. That is really the only negative that comes to mind, that calibration can be tricky. Otherwise it is a good monitor for the money and I'm happy with my purchase.NOTE: I did not test the webcam or speakers as I have yet to use them; therefore, these options are not part of my score/review either in a positive or negative factor.

After using a 20 inch imac for over 3 years it was time to upgrade. The screen on the 20 inch had become unevenly lit, and had seen it's better days. I decided to upgrade to the new 24 inch imac decked out. After returning 3 yes 3 of them due to screen issues it was time to move on. I got a refund, and decided to purchase a mac pro so I could have control of the screen. I decided this monitor was the best for the money at the time. The first one I got had an obvious stuck pixel. It was green, and just about in the middle of the screen. Anymore I'm used to taking things back as now consumers are the quality control. A couple of button presses later I had another one on the way. I must say for an online retailer amazon has unbelievable customer service. The bad one was picked up at the same time the new one was delivered so I had no down time without a monitor. Thats very important when you just got a new computer that your dieing to get all set up!!! I never even had to talk to one person. Needless to say the replacement monitor was perfect! Maybe not quite as bright as the 24 inch imac, but it was too bright for extended use anyhow. The only problem I have with this monitor is when using a hdmi to dvi cable the monitor will not sleep with the computer. When using a dvi to dvi it sleeps perfectly. Not a big deal as I just turn it off when I leave. Probably saves more energy anyways. So to conclude I am very satisfied with this purchase from amazon.com! Thanks!
