A letdown
I was very disappointed in this monitor after having read so many great reviews. It flickered and had terrible backlight bleed - at this price I expected better. Usual great Amazon service and I returned.

No BLB or dead pixels. Good job ASUS!
Bought this one as a gamble reading everywhere how bad the BLB is and people having dead pixels half the times etc. I was ecstatic to find out that my monitor had no issues whatsoever. There is ever so slight BLB on the top right but it's so minimal you can't see it unless you really try hard in a pitch black room. I can't tell you how glad I am that I was one of the lucky ones and I wanted to give credit where credit is due. Maybe ASUS has indeed stepped up their QC. If my case is anything to go by then it's absolutely true. A very happy customer here.

Terrible backlight bleed
Event compared to 60Hz, 144Hz is amazing, 165Hz even more so. It's an IPS display so colour is vibrant and viewing angles are not an issue.
The moment the game switches from an epic battle to a cut scene and the screen turns black you'll see it: the backlight bleed. The screen should be black but it has blobs of light coming thru on the edges. They might say that backlight bleed is common on IPS panels but I expect more from a £670 monitor.

Absolutely stunning
Thought I'd change my review - my initial review was very shortly after buying the monitor and perhaps I hadn't had enough time with the monitor to really offer a decent opinion on it. Now I've had just over 5 months of heavy use with it and I think I have a fairly good idea of how I'd rate it. I contemplated putting my review down to 4 stars because of the minor BLB I get but honestly I already knew that I'd probably have a bit when I ordered it (it's nowhere near bad enough for me to want to RMA) so I'm leaving my review at 5 stars because the screen is quite simply the best monitor I could have ever asked for - I'll have it for many years to come, hopefully! Maybe I'll update my review again in a year or two but so far I'm still loving it and would recommend it to absolutely anyone that can afford it. Even convinced a friend of mine to get one and he feels the same!
Get it. Enjoy it. Experience gaming like you never have before! Just make sure your rig has the horsepower to fully utilise this bad boy ;)

G-Sync and IPS, fantastic
This is a fantastic monitor. Minimal light leak, solid IPS panel, and g-sync is as great as ever.
You will have to faff with a few older game engines to unlock the framerate to avoid the 60FPS cap, but it's well worth it. If you have a beefy NVidia video card, this is a really good option.

stunning monitor
amazing monitor if u can afford it ,i definitely recommend it maybe it has back light bleeding but i dont really noticed it and this problem is with all ips monitors the 144-165 refresh rate is a life changer. 1440p ips is fantastic specially that graphics card arent able to run 4k at 144 refresh rate so Im really satisfied with this resolution and refresh rate . i dont know about g sync thing because u can limit the fps manually but its still a good feature especially for graphics card that are getting less than 60 fps.However for 2x 980ti which i have it not a big deal to get the gsync feature.
Conclusion : if u can afford it u will not be disappointed with it .
-The speakers are not that good :$ they get the job done but u will need external speakers if u r not using headphones.

No dead pixels, good colour uniformity, and the backlight bleed is so minor as to not be an issue. It's visible on a black screen if you're in a dark room and actually looking for it, but is otherwise a non-issue.
Coming from a 60Hz Dell IPS, the G-Sync/165Hz combo is mind-blowing. By far and away the best monitor I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

Very good even if it is refurbished
I have problem turn 144Hz mode. Tried all versions. Not working. Don't know why. Plugged HDMI and other USB cable but still cannot manage to switch to 144Hz mode.

Got lucky, and no issues.
With so many reports of QA issues, I was dubious about buying this monitor for my new build. I do have some minor ips glow, but seriously what ips panel doesnt? Tips for checking, is make sure you configure the settings to the monitor, there's a information online for this. Hopefully it carries on this, but it'd been good in games and for every day use.

No light bleed - Apr 2018
Ordered this April 2018, pleased to say that there is no light bleed whatsoever. Fully expected to have to send it back a couple of times. It is really a huge step up from my old 60Hz monitor, silky smooth. Highly recommended.

Perfect for gaming; bought my lady one too.
The monitor is colour accurate, responsive and high refresh rate... exactly the ticket for gaming.
My partner uses hers for gaming as well as photo editing and seems exceptionally pleased with hers.

the major thing most ppl want to know about is back light bleed and yes I have some a small amount in bottom and top right but when I am playing a game 99% of the time I don't even notice it other than that the screen is great but I don't think its a massive jump from 1080p so I would keep your money until 4k 144hz is more main stream

I've never wanted to spend a ton of money on ...
I've never wanted to spend a ton of money on a monitor i've always gone for freebies from friends and family or bought cheaper sub-standard monitors, however after taking the plunge with this beast, I can't believe i didn't take the plunge sooner... it's so much nicer than any of the cheaper monitors i've ever had and the thin borders make it feel sooo much bigger than the 27" inches it actually is.

The Asus PG279Q is amazing. 1440p G-SYNC IPS and 4ms response time, what more could you want from a monitor. The menus are really easy to use, the build quality is top notch and 165hz is more than enough for any game. It makes a big difference coming from 60hz to 165hz even small things like scrolling through web pages just looks glorious. The 2 USB 3.0 ports are extremely useful for plugging your peripherals into, particularly if your PC is a little further away from your monitor. The height adjustment on the stand that comes with it is amazing.

Everything about this monitor is mental. so far I've been using it with a GTX970 but I can't wait to see how it performs when the GTX 1180 comes out.

Fantastic Monitor
This is my 2nd one of these, i run a dual monitor set up. Never had an issue, monitor has a good full range of motion, easy to use and set up. Never had an issue with either of them. 5/7 would buy again.

Amazing picture quality
Amazing picture quality, especially after I've been using a 32inch t.v. for the last few years. everything is smooth, back light bleed didn't seem overly bad to me, not enough to effect my enjoyment at least.although did develop a white pixel in the first week of use that mostly shows up against a white background and more or less unnoticeable on a darker backing, in the process of getting a replacement.

A fantastic monitor for work and gaming
A fantastic monitor for work and gaming. I use this monitor for video editing and the extra screen real estate compared to a 1080p monitor is incredible useful. And paired with a good GPU this monitor is a pleasure to game on, 1440p at 165hz is fantastic.
The only downside to the monitor, at least with mine, was the back light bleed. Mine does have a small amount. It's not something that I really notice in day to day use, but when I turn the lights off I can definitely see it.

Great monitor but expensive.
Best monitor I have ever used. The colour is crisp and vibrant and everything is so smooth. Very happy overall I have put through its paces so far with COD:MW and The Outer Worlds both of which look amazing.

Simply Amazing.
Spent a long time debating which screen to get, but incredibly happy with this purchase.
Spent a couple hours testing it & calibrating to get where I want, but shows almost no signs of light bleed or any other screen issues.
Highly recommend if you're on the hunt for a new monitor!

Awesome monitor, something to spoil yourself with rather than a necessary upgrade
Best monitor i've ever owned. But IMHO, you could happily stick with a normal 1080p monitor currently for netflix, productivity, and semi regular gaming. But once you change up to 1440p, >60fps, and gsync, it's difficult when moving back. There was a small bit of backlight bleed around at the top right corner and bottom left corner. But only noticeable on very dark scenes when in a very dark room - something that doesn't happen too often for me.
