I got mine "refurbished", but it appeared and has performed as if brand new - the seller is awesome. I am running a Phenom II X4 975 BE @ 4.4 GHz stable. I am using liquid cooling.

I have never seen a motherboard so winy about what ram you put into it. I have tried 2 different RAMS, from Patriot and G.Skill and it just doesn't accept them in duel channel mode. It will accept any ram as long as it is in single channel mode, but try and put it into duel channel formation (Put both on same color to get duel channel) and this motherboard just says NO. It wont post with any RAM I throw at it and there are plenty of people complaining about compatibility issues. This is an amazing motherboard, but you have to stick to their listed RAM modules listed in the manual or chances are, it won't work.Other than that, the motherboard has everything an overclocker or normal user will ever need. I run a Phenom 2 555 Black Edition with 2 cores unlocked at clocked to 3.8GHZ a long side 2 ATI 6870s (OC to 1ghz each). I will point out that I got lucky, but this board seems to do what it promises. A lot of boards promote core unlocking and fail at keeping the system stable once the extra cores have been activated, let alone achieve an extra 600Mhz for each core with no voltage increase. Probably one of the best things about this board, is that its not the most expensive thing on the market. I really want to see what this is capable of with a 1100T in terms of over clocking.If you don't know anything about over clocking, Asus has come to your assistance. Its turbo unlocker will over clock your system by as much as 400mhz if you have a black edition processor. Its safe; it wont melt your hardware. If it sees that it cant sustain the over clock at rising temperatures, then it won't push the processor that far.Anyways, just wish I had no issues with RAM. If your computer does not boot in this configuration |-|- ("-" is a blank memory bank and "|" is bank being used) then send the ram back and look for one which works. I've tried everything including over-volting the northbridge/cpu and all the different combinations and nothing works. Once a find a set of RAM which works, ill put up the model numbers.

This is my second Asus motherboard in the past year. I purchased this one when my first Asus motherboard went belly up after less than a year and I had to send it back for warranty repairs. I couldn't do without a PC for a few days much less the two weeks that was needed to repair the original so I bought this one in advance and switched it out so I wouldn't have to do without the PC while repairs were performed. I cannot speak for any of the advanced functions of this board. I only use it for my office PC so I don't have the need at this point for using any over-clocking functions, etc. I'm currently using it "out of the box" as it were with pretty much all the default settings and so far, it has performed flawlessly. I'm using it with Windows 7-64, 8 GB RAM, 2 TB Sata 6.0 HD and an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8 GHz processor.

This is my first ASUS board and I am very impressed. Everything connected and recignized first post. Very easy.Pros:- SATA III and USB 3- Overclocking options are great- DDR3 2000 *OC*- IDE connection (I needed this for an optical drive)- AM3 CPU compatableCons:- No internal USB 3 Header for a USB 3 faceplate. These will become more common with new cases.- Not an AM3+ socket. Will not necessarily be compatable with the new AMD processors. There is a BIOS Beta update for testing AM3+ compatability but no garintees. Yet.- When using one video card a VGA card adapter must be placed in the grey slot closest to the notrhbridge and the video card must be put in the blue slot. This caused serious cable management in my case and blocks a PCI slot.- If using an SSD in AHCI with windows 7 to get maximum performance out of the drive with SATA III, you must use sata ports 1-4. AHCI must be enabled in bios with the connection speed selected as 6Gbit/s. If you do so you can't use a sata II drive in these ports. I tried plugging my intel X25-M with my Intel 510 Elm Creast both in these ports and the OS would freeze on startup every time. It went back to normal when I plugged it back into port 5 or 6. This limits you to two SATA II and 4 sata III devices.- No UEFI. BIOS only. UEFI is a far faster startup process. Like 3 seconds to get to windows logo vs. 16. With this board it take my system 30 seconds from BIOS beep to Internet explorer open and running. With UEFI it would be up in 17 seconds.

I purchased this board along with other hardware to build something a little newer and faster than my other two desktops I built a while ago. I am planning on using 2 graphics cards with the board at some point, which is one reason I purchased this board. The 3.0 USB feature is great and at this point is basically a feature now on almost all newer boards. Been using it for about 3 months now without any problems. I really like Asus boards. All of my 3 desktops have Asus boards and I love them all. I will continue sticking with Asus. Overall I would give the board a 9 out of 10.

Good solid board for the price with enough bells & whistles to keep the above average PC hobbyist interested. I haven't used most of the advanced features and I simply let the automated overclocking utility do it's thing. Had no problems setting up in a typical ATX case. All the standoffs were in the correct position and the on-board connectors for the case are varied enough to accommodate a nice chassis. POSTED first time turning it on. I have three HDDs running just to get all my stuff from the system I replaced and no problems whatsoever. The 6gb SATA is noticeably faster than the old SATA and completely trumps the IDE side. The board has adequate fan connectors so I could put together a very cool-running box. The on-board graphics capability is good; I am not a gamer, but plan expand to a discrete video card later. The on-board sound is also adequate, but I missed the definitive sound I had with my old sound blaster. So, if you want to put together a rig just to surf the web and check email: this is overkill, spend less money and get something else. If you are a hard core gamer: it won't do the job, spend more money and get something beefier. This board addresses the middle ground very nicely.

I'd do zero stars if I could. I bought this from Amazon in 2010 to build my own computer. It worked OK at first, but then started blue-screening, freezing, and rebooting a few days in. Over the last year I've RMA'd the RAM twice, CPU once, and this mobo once. Still having the same bluescreening issues.Asus was very good about the first RMA. As it stands now, I just submitted another return request, although this time I don't want a replacement board. I want a different board. I took my computer to a computer repair shop, and the technician couldn't get more than 2 of the 4 RAM sticks to work, although all 4 sticks tested fine in other machines. He thinks the RAM slot is a bad design as only one end has a locking clamp. I've asked Asus to give me credit towards another Asus board. I'll see what happens. So far I have no beef with their customer support; my only beef is a mobo that simply doesn't work. Twice. I've wasted lots of time and money on this.

I've had a lot of problems with this motherboard as it crashes very frequently even when in the Bios screens. Two of the memory slots don't work and the USB connections stop working randomly. I was building a computer for my Mom's birthday present but this board set me back. Build info:AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOXWestern Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPMASUS Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+RCORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9BCORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power SupplyWindows 7 Pro x64Antec 300 CaseI re-formatted and installed Windows several times but it didn't improve things.I thought maybe the memory was the issue so I bought some memory from the ASUS supported list:G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 F3-10600CL9D-8GBNTThis didn't resolve the crashes. I tried a different video card and disabled the onboard video but this didn't help either.I ended up buying an MSI 870S-G46 AMD870 AM3 motherboard for about half the price and all the problems went away. I won't be buying any ASUS motherboards in the future.

Can't beat this Mobo it had everything I needed and wanted and is something I intend to keep for a long time. As long as times and technology do not change to much I do not see myself purchasing another Mobo.

I now own two of these great Asus mo-boards. Yep, good enough to buy a second one. Win7 64 bit installation on both went very well. Admittedly, I had some driver update issues building out the first one last year, but the latest build in January (from Amazon)came with "current enough" drivers on the CD for good performance and functionality. Of course, I updated to the latest drivers with Windows Update. That seemed to go just fine.The Win7 experience numbers are impressive with stock configuration, with one exception: Graphics performance significantly lags behind the rest of the system components in my AMD Phenon II X4 with 4gig memory configuration. I'm not a gamer, so it works for me. (is there an emoticon I should insert here for the standard "YMMV" disclaimer?) But, please note that the onboard graphics fully supports my new Blu-ray burner/player output on the hdmi port at 1080p. That rocks!I have not been able to test the USB3 functionality yet. I stress tested both boards using Prime 95 overnight without error. My first build had an issue due to infantile failure of some Corsair memory, but that was fixed by warranty memory replacement.I see very good behavior with Win7's power conservation features. The only warning I can provide is that one should not plan on carrying over older internal devices. My very old (just 6 years!) DVD drive caused me some fun and games, but I'm almost certain that was an OS issue as opposed to motherboard support.Buy and enjoy!

First board arrived quick and was well packed. Either the board or the AMD cpu was DOA. Amazon doesn't provide troubleshooting and only repair option is return. Amazon shipped replacements that day. Replacements arrived in a couple days, and although cpu was poorly packaged startup went smooth. Two months later new system is fast, smooth, stable, awesome. Only weak link is my internet connect speed. I would definitely give five stars if first board/cpu hadn't been DOA.

I've built 2 computers using this board with no problems or complaints. It's very user friendly, fast, and easily to OC. Add a AMD 965 black edition, 16 gigs of ram,a 5770 graphics card,windows 7 64, and you have a machine that will do about anything you need to do.

This was my 4th build with an ASUS mb. The board has many great features for the price. The on board graphics card is a plus if you are not a serious gamer. This was a build for my Grandson for Christmas. However you can always add just about any card out there. I set this up with the AMD Athlon II X4 640 cpu, 2 sticks of gskill 2gb ddr3-1600 ram, WD 500gb hd with a OCZ Modxtream-pro 700w power supply, and Win 7 64 bit. This system after set up is really swift and produces stunning graphics.Now a note on the negative side. I spent hours setting this up because I could not get it to post the BIOS. I am using a Viewsonic 19 inch monitor with DVI connection to the DVI on the motherboard. After researching on the net I found someone that suggested to use the VGA input. Bingo ! That did the trick and everything worked as it should. I was able to set BIOS to boot from DVD drive to set up Win 7.I am not an engineer so I don't know how all this works. But I am fairly familiar the basic stuff. When I was unable to get to the BIOS I thought that the MB was DOA. To test my problem, I had a drive that had Linux installed on it, I put the drive in and proceeded to try and boot the system. To my surprise the system came up and everything worked, even the internet. Note: this was with the DVI to DVI connection. It's a mystery why Win 7 will not work with the DVI to DVI connections. This is why I took away one star.I don't notice any problems using the VGA output. Perhaps someone has an answer.

This is actually my first ASUS board. I have been using MSI products for the last few years with no issues, so why the change? Upon reading the specifications of the new MSI, I liked the fact that ASUS has more features including the core unlocker that allows all cores to achieve full performance capabilities, also I've heard from friends that ASUS makes some really good bios chipsets. This board has some really noticeable features like USB 3 and SATA 6 which don't have so much of an impact on users now, but will soon in the future. Another feature which I have not seen before is the easy bios upgrade feature that allows a user to upgrade bios in bios and checks the file to be sure its compatible with the chipset. There are many other feature which I haven't had the chance to mess around with yet, like the Hybrid CrossfireX technology and ASUS TurboV EVO, not to mention even more overclocking features, however, I must admit I'm not one to overclock even with liquid cooling installed, mostly since I'm not a millionaire and can't afford to overheat a cpu, but if you have the money and experience this board will definitely take advantage of what your processor can do, also this will support the new 6 cores; also this new chipset features the Radeon HD 4290 onboard GPU that supports 512mb and has direct X 10.1 features and comes with multiple VGA outputs, HDMI, DVI, RGB. I only used the onboard when first firing her up, so I didn't get a chance to see what it could do in games like Bioshock or Battlefield Bad Company, but I can imagine being able to play at 1920 X 1080p with just about every setting maxed. If there is one negative thing about this board it would have to be that it has no floppy drive support, and while you don't really need one anyways, I did buy a brand new one, along with floppy disks, but that's just being to used to older tech since it was required to have a floppy disk to create partitions and for RAID drivers in the past.Overall, the price and technology in this board is more than exceptional and had it up and running with the first power on without any problems, ASUS also gives you some pretty good software on their driver CD like ASUS Probe 2 which has a great interface and shows motherboard and cpu temperatures. Now I just need to save some money for another Radeon card then I can give crossfire X a test run. -Great board.

I Purchased one of these boards because of the good features - sata 3, USB 3 and support for x6. Mine required a re-set to post when I first got it. The problem has gotten worse over the 3 months I have owned it so I decided to get a replacement from ASUS. As the board is part of the ASUS premium service line of products I am supposed to be able to get a replacement before I send mine in. Getting a replacement has proved to be impossible. After many calls with surly support staff and many email messages, I am about ready to give up, throw the board out, and buy a Gigabyte. ASUS customer support is very poor, as the ASUS support rep I just got off the phone with just told me. I will not be buying any more of their products.

The HDMI interface is slaved to the DVI interface, they cannot be used simultaneously. This makes it inconvenient to hook an HDTV up as a secondary monitor. The Blue powder coated heat sinks for the graphic adapter look real good, but they are not adequate to cool it off, leading to blue screen shutdowns on hot days. I had to Jerry rig a fan for the GPU to assist it's passive cooling. The overclocking utilities are decent enough to get a 20% performance boost, my 3.5 GHz processor runs stable at 4.2GHz. Not a bad motherboard overall, but weak on graphics. Not recommended for gaming or hot environments.

este board no tiene desperdicios, es de facil instalacion y trae un manual que esta en ingles, pero no necesitas saber mucho ingles para entenderlo, por que esta muy claro.el video 128 ddr3 cuando juego pareciera que tengo una targeta adicional, lo tengo con un amd phenom x6 y trabaja exelente, con 4g de ram ddr3 y puede llegar hasta 16g.nota: te recomiendo que le instales los drives que trae el su cd. y para que el amd phenom x6 trabaje al maximo hay que actualizar la bios de la placa, no es nada dificil con el cd que trae y el manual hasta yo lo he hecho.buen dia.

Despues de 1 mes de uso, no me ha presentado ningun problema, desde que la compre le active la opcion de turbo y la de core unlocker, fue comprada junto a 16GB DDR3 RAM Patriot, un AMD Phenom X6, una ATI Radeon 5770 1GB DDR5 y un HDD Western Digital, desde que fue ensamblada a funcionado perfectamente, ni un solo problema.Pros:Facil de instalar y personalizar, por lo que tambien es facil de hacerle un upgrade en cualquier momento.Facil de overclock si se desea.Posee un software linux que se puede instalar en el boot, por si alguna persona necesitara realizar algun tipo de busqueda en un browser, o revisar el correo electronico o hasta meterse en el servicio de mensajeria instantanea de su preferencia y el SO principal esta con contrase?a entonces puede accesar desde el mismo boot de la computadora, sin preocupaciones de virus o de cualquier cosa, ya que este sistema linux no guarda ningun tipo de informacion o archivo.Cons:Sinceramente no le encuentro ninguna contra a esta motherboard, talves pueda ser que alguna persona que no conosca mucho de computacion compre partes que no sean adecuadas para esta motherboard por lo que jamas le van a servir, pero ya seria problema de compatibilidad no problema de motherboard.

This motherboard is very popular for a good reason. With all the features that it packs its definitely a great investment for the price you are paying. I don't doubt there will be some performance PC enthusiasts that would prefer higher end than this, but for about 150 bucks its hard to find too many other motherboards that can compete with this package. Having so many USB ports, full SATA, GPU support, and the ram / CPU boosting features makes this a great buy and should give you lots of power. I do recommend that if you're going to get a motherboard like this to spend the extra few bucks to get a strong CPU to really get the bang for your money out of this motherboard. I put in an AMD 6 core Phenom II and its been running like a dream. This machine handles anything I throw at it.

This motherboard with amd Phenom II 955 Black edition and 8 GB of RAM is extremely fast. Internet pages load instantly and video editing is much faster than my old computer.

I ahve used ASUS boards almost exclusively for several years now with no failures period. I guess I was preparing for one from this board as the technology was new, ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 promised a lot. Frankly, I expected to experience promises unfulfilled. Not so. I bought the board and an AMD 965 processor from Amazon, assembled the pieces and was amazed by an initial output of 3.67 ghz (AMD Turbo) on the processor. 1600 mhz memory ran at 1460 or so. I was impressed. And the best part of computer building, in my opinion, and aside from all the bios items working, and proper lights going on is the tuning. This board is simplicity itself to build and a wonder to tune, and I am way picky about my machine's ability to perform, and that takes tuning. Never in 30+ builds have I ever experienced teh level of direct change possible on working components. This build is the AMD quad core at 3.75 ghz, 8 gigs of Corsair DDR3 1600 RAM at 1500 or so mhz, ATI 5770 PCIE at 108, on the board. It shows a running temp of 81 degrees!! This is one sweet board, and Amazon delivered 36 hours after a midnight order - well done!

This motherboard was definitely more than I expected. The ease of replacing my 7 year old Asus motherboard (K8VX) was a welcome experience, and had me up and running in 1 hour. Express Gate works terrific and has me up on the web in less than 10 seconds! I'm using the onboard graphics, but there are 2 PCI express slots dedicated for separate graphic cards. There are features on this board that I will never use, but when I was shopping for a motherboard, I was delighted to have another ASUS product with a price and features that were unmatched my the competitors. I highly recommend this product if you are comfortable and have some knowledge of rebuilding your system.
