Used this to replace a stock cooler and another brand of aftermarket cooler that was too loud. Third times the charm as the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 fit and functions superbly on an Asus Sabertooth X58 Motherboard and quitely cools the Intel i7 950 Processor. I had particular installation limitations since I was using it in an HTPC Case. However, I still needed cooling and quite operation even with a limited height. This cooler fit the bill all around with its 92mm Fan. It fit on the motherboard and in the case, cools better than stock, and remains quite.

I have used these cpu coolers in all the SOCKET Socket AM2 and AM3 pcs I've built over the last 2-3 years (30-50 machines)and have found them to be very reliable and capable of cooling everything from the 125 watt Athlon x2 6000+ to the newer Phenom x2 3.3 Ghz machines. I can never get the temperature on these processors very high even when overclocking them and try to stress them. I have not found any cooler that does more for the money. They are also very quiet.

First unit was DOA. Fan didn't spin. Sent it back, got a new one. ( I was dead set on trying this cooler out, if only because of the reviews its gotten so far)Installation was dead simple. I knew beforehand that the unit faces up/down on the mobo (for AMD CPUs). My case has a lower side case fan, and a bottom mounted PSU fan, so the airflow still works. Booted up my PhenomII X2 555BE and it's chilling at 96 degrees idle. Prime95 pushes it to 113. This is lower than the stock cooler, which idled at 111, under stress was 125. It's a significant improvement for not much scratch, the decision is easy.Did I mention you can't hear it? Silent runner. It's in my media center pc right behind my tv.One more thing. I know on my motherboard (asus ) that I can't use the DIMM slot closest to my cpu due to this heatsink. Dealbreaker for those using more than 2 sticks.

Say goodbye to your over heating problems. Dropped my cpu temperature by 15 degrees fahrenheit. Only problem is that it is very big, making it difficult to install.

I got this thing after reading a lot of fancy reviews on the net - was quite dissapointed after installing it.Firstly this thing is humongous had it be a micron larger it would not have fitted on my MB (Intel DG33FBC)I connected it to the std 4 pin port and the MB does not recognize it - and the fan does not power up, thought it would start working when the temp goes up. It did momentarily start when the temp was 70 but then again switched off and the temp went up all the way to 74 before i shut down the machineOn the 3 pin port it does work but it is quite slow and erratic (definitely not the 2500 rpm as claimed by the Company), the cooling performance is worst than the stock fan and i had to put an additional fan behind the heat sink to augment the cooling capacity. At full load the temp is still crossing 65 when it is winters at my place - once it is summers god only knows where it will go to.No other option than to throw this thing away and revert back to the stock. Was not expecting such bad quality from product mooted to be one of the best in it's class

This cooler is worse than the factory and will not fit 750i SLI mother boards due to the low clearance at the northbridge. (It bent the fins on my cooler and sat on it.) I returned to amazon for full credit. Amazon you are awesome! I went with the Cooler Master N520 and am VERY pleased. Dropped my temps. on my Q9650 20' minimum. Ease of installation is NOT a plus. You buy a cooler to COOL. If it takes removing your mother board to do so, so be it. Do not buy this cooler.

I never got a chance to usew this cooler because the installation bracket and pins were absolute garbage. The bracket itself was not adequately configured to a 775 socket. And the mounting pins were so poorly made that the unit could not be secured on the motherboard. A total waste of money!!!

Once I was able to get this installed it certainly does what it is advertised to do and that is keep your system cool. I got a huge difference in temp, lowering my temps an average of 20 degrees C. Its also much quieter than the stock fan that comes with the intel E8400 processor. All that is great except for one big problem. I found that the pins that connect the fans frame to the motherboard are easily broken. The install process for the frame calls for you to insert a two piece pin into each of the four mounting holes. With very little force, one of my pins broke. Well that one little piece pretty much ruins the whole thing because if its not properly mounted you are not going to get the desired effect of cooling down your processor. I had to rig a set of plastic zip ties through the last hole to secure it in place. Not ideal, but it works. It could be that I just got a bad pin or something but I probably would have spent a bit more money on another brand to avoid the headache.Just wanted to update on this review. I went to move this cooler along with the CPU and motherboard to a new case and another pin broke. The return period for Amazon expired a couple of weeks ago so I checked the manufacturers warranty and to my surprise there is no warranty if you purchase this through a reseller. The company only offers a warranty if you buy direct from them. I was hoping to at least get a couple of new pins sent to me but no dice. You can check some current reviews of this item at other sites as well (but of course only buy from Amazon) and others are having the same problem. I'm going to have to dock this another start because of the extra pin breaking and the lack of warranty from the manufacturer. Stay far away from this one at any price.

This CPU cooler is a complete joke installing on AM3 based brackets. It relies on attaching the cooler with lugs that are held in place by small screws. The instructions do not mention whether you install it above or below the clips themselves so one can only guess. Tech support is virtually clueless about the problem since they can't answer it. Instead they provide a link to the online manual which is the same in the package. The only way possible was to install the lugs above the clips relying on the pressure to hold the heatsink in place. It then required a tremendous amount of pressure to snap over the bracket. Afterwards, you screw the tiny screws in to "press" it down.Once installed, it's quiet as ever. Makes very little noise and marginally better than the default cooler. Unfortunately, not enough difference for over-clocking, so look elsewhere if you plan on doing that. And lastly, it's huge. Tall enough to cover most DDR heatsinks, but not your speciality kind like dominators or reapers.NOTE: If you can't tell already, this review was based off installing it for an AM3 based bracket. If installing it on an Intel bracket, you might experience an entirely different story.

Under load, my Intel E8400 used to reach temperatures near 100 C. Now, it's hard for me to get it above 43 C, while the CPU is under 100% load. For instance, I used to adjust the CPU usage down on Folding at Home because I was concerned about the temps the CPU was reaching (in the 90s C). Now, it's usually around 41 C. Fantastic.I can't really speak to ease of installation because I paid a local business $15 to install the cooler for me. The 5 case fans in my NZXT Tempest are already sort of loud, so I can't really speak to the sound of the fan either.I would recommend this cooler to others.

Nice cooler. Works well, and I see a major improvement over stock cooler. But the fan is a bit crummy. It starts slowly and many times I get a fan error while booting, and have to press a key on keyboard to continue to boot. But I am ok with it so far.

Easy install without taking out motherboard on Intel installation. Even though it just has the push plug connectors they are very strong and stable. Much better than intel's stock cooler. Completely quiet and cools as expected. Recommended

I love how this Heat Sink installed. I didn't have to take out my mother board, just my old stock i7 heatsink/fan. I removed the old thermal paste on the cpu and removed the supplied thermal paste on the arctic cooling heatsink. I then applied a line of my own Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste crossing all 4 cores in the center and mounted it on.I idled at 50c and 100% load at 70c with the stock fanNow I idle at 50c and 100% at 75c while overclocked to 3.3ghz from 2.8ghzUpdate: now that the arctic silver 5 has broken in. The temps dropped 10c idle and 10c 100% load. Overall an excellent cooler. However, some of that is due to the fact of the dropping ambient temps as we head into fall/winter

This fan replaced my stock cpu fan which was your typical cheaply made cooling apparatus. I have an amd phenom II quad core 1.8ghz cpu. Before it was running around 40* C at rest and anywhere between 45-55 during high peak times. After installing this fan I'm running around 30* C at rest and 40-42* C at peak times. As well, I've OC'd my cpu to 2.25Ghz and it's made little to no difference (the biggest difference is at peak times but it only took it up another degree or two.)The installation was extremely easy for my AMD board. Looking at the instructions, the intel install seems a bit more tricky. I did not have to remove the board at all and you just have to screw on two pieces and put the fan over the metal piece and your done.

I would suggest anyone who buys this cpu cooler to take my suggestion and place the cooler with the fan on the bottomside. ?Why?When I first placed this cooler on my processor I placed it with the fan on the topside. But as I put it to the test, I noticed the fan was not spinning. The copper wiring was exposed under the fan itself and made me wonder.I thought I bought a defect.What happened was this. The fan fell out of place, so, I placed the cooler with the fan on the bottom side. I had to snap the fan into place before re-doing the job. That seemed to take care of the problem. (Hopefully)Even after doing so, I oftenly check to see if the fan is functioning.This is actually a nice processer cooler. It definately does the job of cooling.I would have probably given it 5 stars if it did not experience the problem of the fan falling out of place.Cooler was placed on an amd am3 processer on a gigabyte ma785gm-us2h motherboard.I did not have to take the motherboard out of the tower to place the cooler, so installation was relativily easy.The cooler comes with an AMD and also an Intel setup. So besides the 4 stars I gave it, it also deserves two thumbs up.

As one of my friends said, the Installation Instructions Make No Sense in 4 languages. Quite an accomplishment.A minor problem though until you email tech support. Maybe the lights are on, but there's Nobody Home. After 5 emails, not a single response. Not an acknowledgment of receipt or that Tech Support even cares at all.As for the product, it's just beautiful, and I'm sure it works well, if and only if you can fathom the muddy instructions and/or don't mind gambling a 6-core on an improper install.

I got one to cool an overclocked Q9400, it works great in a HAF922M case, with an exhaust fan very nearby and running fast. I moved the same setup to a Cosmos1000 box, and had to switch to a Corsair Liquid cooler to maintain current level over overclock (3.36 from a 2.66 Chip). It isn't a bad cooler at all. I wish it had a push/pull fan option which I think it really could use. This will be the last "Air Cooled" CPU cooler I buy however. It seems like liquid cooling is finally mature enough for "Joe Consumer".

Warning to AMD owners: this heatsink will probably overlap your RAM slots by a fair bit (I had to cut a chunk out of my cooler to accomodate tall RAM heatsinks) and can't be pointed at the back of the typical case so the airstream is linear. Note the pictures, especially the tabs sticking out each way. Look at your motherboard and you'll see how this mounts onto the CPU, with the silver tabs locking onto the mounting points on your motherboard. Standard AMD motherboards will only allow mounting this heatsink so the airflow is vertical (ie, pointing at/away from the north bridge chip).If your case doesn't have a fan in the very top then look for a different cooler.

This thing is a beast. I was worried that it wouldn't fit in my desktop HTPC case. It's much quieter than the stock heatsink\fan that I was using. It lowered the temperature of my Q8200 by 5-6 degress at idle. All in all I'm very satisfied with it.

Good solution for 65W processors, don't know if it will be enough for the 130W processors that it says it supports. Installed on top of e6750 (2.66ghz) and OC'd to 3.2 ghz, OCCT showed 53C under full load (stock intel cooler was 58C @ 2.8 ghz) so I'd say it works well for the C2D's. I also used IC Diamond 7 thermal compound, not the stock compound that came with this cooler.

This is a great heatsink. When I got it and looked at the installation instructions I was amazed at how well thought out the design is. If Gateway hadn't mounted the original Intel socket 775 heatsink in a bad way this would have been a 15 minute job. Once installed, the heatsink moves an incredible amount of heat out of the case and the fan is really quiet. I'm glad I selected this model.Note: This heatsink comes with thermal paste on the heat sink, so DON'T buy it.

This fan was great. Currently it keeps my intel i7 cpu at 60C max with all 4 cores at 100% capacity and is around 35C idle.

I was looking to replace the Intel stock cooler on a new i7-860 build. The stock cooler had some whine especially as the CPU loading increased and the fan revved up.This cooler was much quieter, in fact I really can't hear that it makes any noise unless you're running stress test like Prime95. Even then it's a low whooshing sound. While running this stress test with the stock cooler my core temps got to within 9C of their temp limit. With this fan I haven't seen them get any closer than 35C and are typically 42C in a cool room. That's a huge difference!One more thing: The installation is really easy and does NOT require you to remove the motherboard which is a big plus. Other have complained about the plastic push pins to secure the mounting frame to the motherboard but I found that it's easy (use needle nose pliers) and secure.When you factor in the low cost this cooler is hard to beat.

I am overclocking a Pentium Q6600 chip and am having great success with this cooler. I have upped the FSB enough to cause problems with the Radeon 5870 graphics card to have an issue with heat while playing FarCry2. My CPU however has stayed cool all the while. I know the standard cooler didn't hardly help at all when overclocking. A small complaint is I broke a locking clip while installing it and wished they had sent a spare. I managed to get it working and have had no problems.
