The crucial plastic mounting bracket that attaches the heatsink to the motherboard and CPU failed after 3 weeks of use, cracking near one of the bolts. This caused the CPU to overheat and run at 100 deg.C until I accidentally turned on the CPU temperature monitor and realized what was happening. This is a serious design issue and I wonder how many people have their CPU's overheating due to this and don't even know it.Another problem: the PWM function doesn't work on some ASUS motherboards, causing the fan to run at full speed all the time, and returning 0 for RPM (unless you turn OFF the CPU fan control in BIOS). This happened on 2 of my ASUS motherboards: P8H67 and P7H55. I would say this is a pretty poor product given these two issues. For comparison, I have a Cooler Master HTX3 which runs quieter, has solid metal mounting bracket that won't break, and its PWM function works great.UPDATE: My mounting bracket broke on the 30th day of my 30-day warranty. By the time I returned it, it was after the warranty, so I had to send it back to the manufacturer. It's now been 3 months since I've sent my failed heatsink to Arctic Cooling, and they haven't sent any replacement. This is just unacceptable.

I bougth this fan about a year ago and i tend to leave my PC on for days at a time. I've had other PC's and other heat sinks and never had an issue with the fan.I have an ASUS Mobo and keep seeing a pop up stating FAN speed - 0rpm. when i check the case the fan is spinning but i did notice its spinning slow. it goes a bit quick and slows down again. Not sure if it's the fan or the mobo, therefore i'm replacing the fan and see if the problem goes away.As a heat sink goes... it's a big piece of aluminum and cooper piping, pretty much all the same if you ask me. the CPU runs at a cool temp also because its in a room in the basement. the case fans draw enough air and if the heat sink isn't pulling the hot air, i think the air flow between the CPU and heatlink is cooling it just good.I have a big case, therefore i had no issues installing the heat sink.

This cooler is paired with an i7 3770K in a Silverstone GD-08 Media PC case. It fits with about 3 MM to spare, I have it angled to exhaust toward an open fan port. It keeps my CPU about 5-7 degrees cooler under normal use and when playing 1080p content it never gets about 40 degrees C, when doing stress tests the CPU has never exceeded 65 degrees C under full load.It was a simple snap in installation, no removal of the motherboard was required, (I replaced the stock intel cooler) It is simple and straight forward, if your case can fit it I would completely recommend this cooler for use in about any application. Keep in mind this is a media PC, not a gaming rig, so my usual max loads are for 2-10 hours of 1080p video playback using a discrete video card.

This fan looks almost identical to the hugely popular Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus/Evo, but costs less than it does. Since they seemed to be almost the same design I figured why not save a few bucks? When it arrived and I took it out of its packaging it looked like I had made a good choice, this thing was solid and looked really well put together. While I should have plugged it in first to test it, I immediately set to taking off my old cooler, cleaning off the thermal paste, etc, and installed this one. Then I plugged the computer in and hit the power button, all I got was a momentary spin of the fan and that was it, it would not spin after that. While DOA products are a sad fact of modern consumer electronics, it is off-putting when your first experience with a brand is a DOA, and makes you not want to give it a shot in the future. Luckily Amazon makes returning defective items (or any items for that matter) a piece of cake.

I have built lots of computers in my life and I will be 73 on my next BD. I coupled this with a fx 6300 AMD cpu and wow what a cooler. the temp has yet to get to 100 degrees. not only does it cool the best, it is the best and coolest looking cooler I have ever had.I know this, that I will not buy anything but this type of cooler from now on to go with all my new computer builds.very impressive.who ever the maker of this product is, thank you OH so much.JPby the way my cpu is overclocked to 4.5ghz and still running under 100 degrees. with this cooler, IS YOUR'S

I had excellent results with an Arctic Cooler Freezer on an old Intel Core 2 Duo, so I purchased this one for my current AMD Phenom 2 X6 1055T. I just installed it a day ago.. now already have the stock AMD cooler back in. I use all Arctic Silver cleaning/thermal compounds. Why did I uninstall it?Surface area of contact doesn't even cover the entire cpu, whereas the stock cooler does.. maybe that doesn't matter, but it didn't sit well with me. Figured this wouldn't be too much of an issue so I fired the computer up. Using Core Temp and AIDA64 I kept an eye on the temperatures as I played BF3 and did some other things. Unfortunately with the Freezer Pro my CPU temps fluctuated more and overall ran hotter. I was disappointed and wanted my stable cooler temps back so I re-installed the stock AMD cooler. All is well now. Bummer. Had bomb results in the past.

Does what it should, and does it very well. Very easy install over my AMD processor with stock parts. I had the motherboard outside the case so this made handling easier. I removed the pre-applied thermal paste and replaced it with Artic Silver 5 and I also cleaned both surfaces with polishing compound. The polishing compound removed an extraordinary amount of hidden dirt that rubbing alcohol leaves behind. My cleaning rag came out black after use. You can find it in your stores auto section. Love the PWM fan. The MB regulated the fan speed depending on the load. My Asrock MB has 4 DIMM slots. This fan covers the first one closest to the cpu. Lucky for me I am only using 2 sticks of ram (8GB Each)

I've seen very good reviews on this HSF. So I figured I'd give it a go. I have a AMD Phenom 2 x4 black edition on an msi atx mobo. Unfortunately this heat sink would not fit properly. It wouldn't clamp down correctly. The AMD clips included are too wide. It's hard to explain exactly, let's just say I would have had to trim the clips down to make them fit. I don't think I should have to do that. Not sure that I want to mess with arctic, not because of product quality. But more because it was stated this would fit my socket (AM3), and I'm at a loss as to how that is true.

This cooler could be easier to install. I was seriously afraid I was going to damage my processor. But I did get it installed. I suggest installing it when the motherboard is out of the box. It will give you a little more leverage and room to work. Also the glue on the X logos on the sides of the cooler didn't hold up. Luckily the logos stick to the sides with the pins. And the Asus system monitor shows the processor stays nice and cool even when I'm doing graphic design and playing games. This was the most difficult part of building my system so for that it loses a star. It gets four stars for doing its job well.

I purchased Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO PWM (Rev. 2) for about $25. For this price you won't find anything equally silent and flexible. I'm using it with AMD Phenom II X6 and most of the time it works in idle mode. Under load it speeds up noticeably, but still is relatively silent. Compared to out-of-the-box cooling - AMAZING.It's a little harder to install than for example Arctic Cooling Alpine 64. You tighten the fit with a screwdriver.Cheapest QUIET solution for high load CPUs (4 cores upwards).

I ask very little from a product like this. I just want it to work and the ARCTIC Freeze works. It's sort of bulky and makes connecting wires and inserting or replacing memory chips on a motherboard a chore but it works.

I have a quad core 2.8ghz AMD processor. When transcoding video's with the stock heatsink/fan I would easily get over 63c (sometimes tapping 70). Idle I was about 38c. I installed this beast and transcoded an entire video without going over 47c. 97-100% processor usage for 15+ minutes. Idle I sit at 29-30c. absolutely a great deal for the price. going to OC this bad boy to 3.1ghz. If I have any problems I'll report back, otherwise figure there was little to no increase in operating temps!

I don't recall this product very well because I replaced it so quickly with the Hyper 212 Plus. I do recall high temperature and asking on forums why my CPU was so hot when I was directed to the 212. That one worked just fine. Why this cooler has so many good reviews here and on Newegg I have no idea. I do know my experience, and that was dissatisfaction.

This cooler is being sold as capable of keeping all AM3 socket cpu's at good temps while running quietly. It does not. I received my order in good shape from the seller and installed it according to directions, then tested temps by ripping a dvd with Handbrake. The temps kept slowly creeping up the entire rip process, and I finally shut it down when the cores reached 61 C and kept rising. AMD says the upper range for the CPU is 62 C, so I kept below that. Then I removed the Freezer 7 and re-installed the stock cooler, running the same test. Temps were stable at no more than 45 C, a good working temperature that will help the CPU live much longer. I am very surprised since the Freezer 7 is twice the size of the stock unit with a much larger fan.Long and short - the Freezer 7 Pro is very quiet, but probably because the fan does not move enough air to keep the cpu properly cool. It's rated for 130 watt chips, but does not work for my 125 watt AMD.:UPDATE: I re-installed on a hunch, re-oriented the fins and fan, and used arctic silver paste instead of the included stuff. Seems to work much better, with stable temps at 50 C. Still not as good as the stock heatsink/fan, but a lot quieter.Note - I do not OC, and considering the performance I wouldn't recommend it for that.

I have a LIAN LI PC-V350 (cube) case with 2-120mm and 1-92 mm fan installed for ventilation. Before this (Artic Cooling Freezer 7) i had the stock AMD cooler that came with the phenom X4 965 BE.I was consistently getting 60 - 70 C with the stock cooler, so i thought by purchasing this i would get lower temps and decreased noise. Well, the cpu core temperature rocketed to 98C during load (HOT) and the noise was only slightly decreased compared to the stock (which could be because of the case).Primarily bought this based on reviews of previous owners, however, i cannot say that i share the same results.Very disappointed in this cooler ability to take down the temps. In the mean time, i will have to install the old one and look for a new one.On a side not, i had to cut the top three end cooper points in order to make it fit.CASE:[...]CPU: [...]

My System:Antec 900 Case,Asus P5N-D Mobo,Q8400 CPU,6GB Crucial DDR2,GTX460 GPU,stock w/no OC or tweaks. This cooler does cool in a very simple way, no bells, whistles or "hoopla" to go with it.Put new system together and BFBC2 made my CPU run at about 66c with stock Q8400 cooler and pre-applied compound.Installed this cooler and lowered idle CPU temp from 29c to 21c, w/BFBC2, it lowered from 66c to 38cAlthough compound on stock cooler may have not been sufficient.Installed this cooler in about 20 minutes with no troubles at all, although I knew about some peoples pin problems in advance so I made sure to take my time and dont force anything. I warmed the pins up to make sure they were soft and pliable. Installing plastic parts cold is not a good idea. Used the pre-applied thermal compound. For me the cooler was easier to install(took less force)than the stock cooler. The pins gave me no trouble at all.I installed one of the black lock pins backwards and removed it and re-installed it with no troubles. As with another person, I installed the cooler with airflow pointing up at the 200mm fan(heat rises)in the Antec 900 case.Arctic Cooling states on their website that any Intel mounting pin will work, so if a person is worried about cheap pins, use the ones out of your old cooler, or any you have laying around. I personanly had more trouble with the stock cooler pins than the Arctics pins. The Arctic pins are more "simple", no turning them for the proper alignment.I would buy this cooler if:You need a basic, easy install cooler that cools.Dont want to remove the mobo.Dont want to spend alot of money.Dont want a huge "cool & groovy" cooler like a ZalmanCooler is light weight, no monster setup hanging off your mobo, always a trade-off between light vs durable.Be sure to warm up the pins before installing, take your time, be patient.Maybe Arctic will give us more durable plastic in the pins in the future?Update: Two days later, the compound must be "curing"? Now with BFBC2 on all high settings my max temp is 32cAmazing cooler, dropped my temp from 66 to 32...thats 34 degrees! But I dont know how much gain was cooler andhow much was the better thermal compound.I will definately put this cooler on my next build using an LGA1366 socket.More update:dont know if compound is curing in or what but seems like temps keep getting cooler. My system is idling at 15c to 17c, although my ambient temp is low(60f) Good cooling.

Pros:+Very easy to install+Far better construction than other CPU coolers I've dealt with (I've seen some really bad ones!)+Clean overall lookCons:-Proprietary fan design (the mounting system is part of the fan itself)...if the fan goes out, one must either purchase the same exact fan/mounting system or mod it to accept a different fan (possible, but a waste of time and would adversely impact performance)-Fan was dead on arrival...Other reviewers had the same issue, but I took a chance anyway as this cooler had better performance than other ones at this price point.Other Thoughts:This cooler has good performance when it functions properly. While this cooler may be tempting at this price and the majority of reviewers received ones with working fans, I would caution against buying this particular model. I fell into the same trap and my build was delayed by more than a week. Pay a little extra and get a cooler that allows the end user to replace the fan without having to make any modifications.

first of all,I buyed this based on all the great reviews here and it really is great! I choosed free two day shipping and its was delivered to me overnight, thanks amazon! ok,so the package wasn't damaged at all and I got a brand new one,so this is the first fan I buyed so I had a little trouble finding out how to attach the plasic base to the motherboard but after a few minutes I got it right,I removed the old compound from my I5 750 with 70% alcohol and put on the cooler, now its in place and its quiet and it works (when I finished installing it and turned on the computer it didn't spin at all so I thought I was on the dead fan list too,so I gave it a little spin with my finger and hopefully it started to work.so far Im happy, the temp went down from 45-40 celcius with the stock fan to 30 celcius with this fan,Ill wait for the weather to get colder to see if it will cool to about 20 celcius...Im going to test it with some games I have (homefront, cod black ops, dead space, just cause 2...)and will update with the results I get12.5.11 update:I just played homefront and set the graphics to max (I have i5 750 and HD5850,4GB DDR3 1333MHZ)and my cpu stayed cool at 35 degrees celecius the whole game, its really worth the money, thanks amazon for this great product!

Before installing my new cpu cooler, I cleaned the top of the cpu with 90 percent rubbing alcohol. The new fan dropped my CPU temperature by 5 degrees. It was my first time installing it so it took me thirty minutes. Directions included could be better . As others have mentioned it can be installed in 15 minutes or less. I was afraid the locking pins would be to weak to hold the CPU heat sink and fan in place. So far so good.Hardiest part was screwing down the included screws they are small and because I installed this cooler in a mid-tower case, I could barely fit my hands in between the cpu cooler and video card. Had to use a flash light at the same time to make sure the screws went into the right slot.If I had a bigger computer case , I probably could of done it in 8 minutes. Only con was the top of the heatsink looked damaged . I was hoping this cooler would drop down in to 30 degrees or less. Price is right. I would recommend some really long needle noose pliers and a long Philips screw driver. The locking pins you can just use your thumb.Overall it works
