Easy to install, very quiet. Just a note, do not be alarmed when you first turn on your computer, the cpu fan will spin for a moment and then stop. When the cpu warms up, the fan will spin again. Also the cpu temperature may rise 5 degrees for a few minutes but it will lower and then level out. You do not have to mess with Bios! Just plug it in! It comes pre pasted! I did not have to use any additional paste, so please save your hard earn money. Looks really nice inside my computer!

This thing is super quiet and keeps my Phenom II X4 on 44°C under load, 28°C on idle with the pre-applied MX-2 paste.Fairly easy to install with some common sense if you can't follow the vague instructions.Note: My fan wouldn't spin when I first installed it no matter what settings I used on BIOS, after some tinkering with it I found out the fan itself (white plastic)had popped out of place (shipping/assembly?) Just had to pop it back in and it was good to go.

It's a good cooler overall, and I'll post temps in a moment. My only gripe is that the fan is a custom shape. If/when it goes out, to rig an industry standard 90 or 120mm fan will not be easy.Keep an eye on orientation - the longer sides should be parallel to the RAM, but one side seems slightly thicker. I turned it 180 degrees and then it fit, without overlapping the RAM's heatsinks (Corsair Vengeance.)Using Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease, in ~21C ambient temp:CPU (i7 2600K @ 4.0GHz, 1.21v, LLC5)Idle: ~34CLoad: ~62CUnder ~27C temp:Idle: ~38CLoad: ~67CYMMV.Official reviews claim this is an average cooler. It might be, and might not be suitable for massive overclocking*, but it's far, far better than the stock fan that comes with the CPU.* "massive overclocking" - running the CPU at 4.5GHz or above, using 1.35v or more. I bought this to replace my stock AMD cooler that came with my system. I was concerned that I was possibly overheating. What I found is that this baby moves alot more air than my stock did but really only gained about -3c cooler so not a major change. I did however gain +4c temp in my gpu afting adding this one so that is the reason for my 4 outta 5 rating. And yes my CPU fan blows away from my GPU. I had to add a PCI slot fan to offset this added heat to my GPU.Other than that it is a great Rig!

I used the Freezer 7 on an ASUS board with a Q6600, which are known to run hot. The case is a Lian Li HTPC case and there was only 2-3mm of space left, the install was challenging to say the least. This isn't a small cooler so if you don't have a full size case, you might want to check sizes or prepare to return it it.Air cooling can only do so much, and this is decent cooler, especially for the money. I get a drop of around 20 degrees celsius at idle, 35-38 degrees. However, at load I hit 60 degree max, which isn't great but decent. The case has several fans, I took a lot of care to make sure the airflow was good and I have overclocked to 2.8Ghz only. For a user keeping at stock or a slight overclock, this is a fine cooler. If you need something more and you don't go to a water cooler, my suggestion is Scythe Mugen 2 rev.B SCMG-2100 - Processor cooler - ( Socket 478, Socket 754, Socket 940, Socket 775, Socket 939, Socket 1156, Socket AM2, Socket AM2+, Socket 1366, Socket AM3 ) - copper with nickel-plating finish - 120 mm. It's almost twice the cost, but cools my i5 much better. If you spend even more, there are some very good water coolers. If you are an overclocker, you likely know all I have written here, but if not this good cooling for cheap. For me, the fan noise isn't really an issue, but it is louder that my stock fan.Bottom line it that this is a good cooler that isn't expensive. If you are looking for very high performance, water is superior to air cooling so know that. If you have modest needs and a budget to match, this is a capable cooler.

My fan is also dead on arrival. I wrote to customer support for Artic Cooler, and actually received a response - although the blame was directed toward my not setting up the BIOS power options. I've responded that I did, and am awaiting a response. All my MOBO fan connectors work fine with other fans, and if I just barely touch the Arctic Cooler fan connector to the MOBO pins, I can get the fan to spin a few times. If Arctic Cooler comes thru with a new, working fan, I will re-evaluate the cooler.Received a new fan from Artic Cooler. Works great. Other than their trying to place the blame on me initially for not setting up the bios correctly, they have satisfactorially stood by their product.

I am running an old school Socket 939 setup with a AMD Athlon X2 3800+. Based on reviews, I figured this product would cool my processor with ease. Turns out, the screws and mechanism to attach to AMD boards doesn't tighten far enough for the heatsink to touch the processor. Maybe next time. Stock heatsink - 42 C; This - 54 C. Not good.

Bought one of these for my second PC on an i5 Sandybridge. Install was ok, but the last plastic pin was a pain to lock in, even when trying to mount the cooler retainers in 'criss-cross' fashion. The main problem was the faulty fan. It spun up, then failed after 30seconds.I've used the older version of this cooler so I had a spare fan to use (which is the same design as the new one).Cooling was actually slightly worse than the older model, so not very impressed with its performance. There are other better coolers to buy and the competition has moved on. If you can budget slightly higher, go for one of the sealed water coolers with much better performance to boot.

This is a quality item that I've purchased for the 2nd time around from this company. You can't beat their warranty, it's effectiveness, and how silent it is. With that said, I didn't see that much of a reduction in temp's at idle but I have a small case with a full gaming card (Radeon 6880) so it might be my lack of airflow that's holding it back. Either way, it gets the job, it's a high quality product, SUPER easy to install, and per reviews is the 2nd best CPU cooler for Intel CPU's.

I've only owned it for a short time (a couple days) but so far it's working beautifully. The cpu fan was the last loud thing on my computer. Finally I have a silent computer. Even when I play video games or run a heavy program, it is still silent. As for installation, it's a lot easier than the stock, which it's hard to really tell if it is fully on, (they need to learn from AMD) and it comes with the fan on, but you'll need to gently take that off before you install it.Side note: sones is kind of an odd thing to rate in. From a little googling, .8 is about 27dBA. So I'd venture that it goes from quieter to that level. Also you won't hear any whrring, it's more of a wooshing from all the air moving. If that makes any sense.

DO NOT BUY THIS HEATSINK.This is a waste of money. I have one and it died after 3 months of use. On a lightly-used machine in a well-ventilated case. The fan bearing just wore out. Thankfully my motherboard detected the problem and stopped the machine before the CPU got destroyed by overheating. Then fan is built as part of the hold-down frame for the heatsink. This means you cannot use any other after-market fan to replace it. You can't use a regular fan as that won't have the right hole placement to fit the mounts. Their website sells replacements for $4 and then another $4 for shipping. That'd be $8 more down the drain, only to get the same poorly designed and made fan. Um, no.Wait, it gets worse...I tried to pull the pins out that hold the mounting brackets to the motherboard AND THEY BROKE OFF. Arrrrggggghh! So now instead of being able to just swap out the whole thing I now have to remove the entire motherboard from the case. Just to get to the underside to push out the stubs of the broken pins. What a HUGE waste of my time!So to anyone looking to buy this heatsink I want to *strongly* discourage you from buying it. It's much too cheaply made and poorly designed. Save yourself the aggravation and buy from another manufacturer instead.

Like the other reviews, this started getting noisy in no time. It was a pain to install and a pain to remove. I used it on a mini-itx board and it was huge and was within fractions of an inch of not working on the board at all. If size is a consideration, I recommend a Thermaltake SlimX3 cpu cooler. I'm using a couple of them. I don't know about longevity, but they are pretty quiet and a lot better than the LP7 to mount and work with...but you do have to pull the motherboard out. I have one computer with an external power supply (no fan) and a SSD drive. The only fan in the whole pc is on the SlimX3 and the entire system is on par with the noise a cardboard box puts out. Very nice. I have it on another similar PC, but with a regular HD in it. I don't know if it is the fan, the HD, or the CD-burner, but something is louder in it than it should be. Don't know.

I needed a new cpu cooler to replace the stock intel cooler on my core 2 duo chip. It was reaching temps over 107 degrees and causing the computer to shut down. I opened up the case and saw a lot of dust on the stock cooler so I blew out the dust and thought the problem would be solved. No go. It still cooked. I was looking for a reasonably priced replacement and wasn't concerned how 'cool' it looked, just how it performed. I saw the good reviews on the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and thought I'd give it a try as it was in my budget. It was literally a snap to install on my ASUS socket 775 motherboard. Just popped out the old cooler and snapped this one in in its place. No removing the motherboard to install a mounting bracket, no screws, and no need to buy thermal paste since it was already on the cooler. I did have one problem in that a few of the cooling fins on my motherboard were bumping up against the bottom of the cpu cooler. I bent the motherboard fins slightly to get them out of the way but other than that installation was quick and easy. So far the highest temperature on my CPU has been 33 degrees while running at full throttle, and most of the time if runs in the high twenties. It also runs very quietly. I'm a very happy camper.

installs without back panel both Intel and AMD. So very quiet its just amazing. Fits in a seven inch case, under side panel and next to memory. If I was forced to find a con to this item, about the only thing I could say would be because there is no back panel it could be a little tighter. I have already bought two more just in case they become unavailable.

Currently using a good old dual core AMD Athlon 4200+ and an Asus A8N-E. SpeedFan reported my CPU was running at 100C under load watching a 1080p movie or playing Guildwars! Sometimes hotter than that! Cleaned the heatsink and reapplied Arctic Silver to no success. I guess the stock heatsink got deformed or something because when I uninstalled it to clean the CPU, the thermal grease looked unevenly distributed on both surfaces. =(Installed this product in about 10 minutes with just a philips screwdriver and powered up! Windows XP loaded normally and I immediately load tested the CPU. 1080p movie and Guildwars running at the same time for 15 minutes returned temps no higher than 68C! What a huge drop! I am very pleased so far with this product's cooling ability and quiet fan at 1900rpm! Highly recommended!

This product gets high marks from me.Installation:- Took less than 15 minutes. It's as simple as this: remove the stock heat sink and fan, use appropriate mounting hardware for Intel or AMD products (both are included in package), seat the heat sink onto the processor, tighten TWO screws, attach the fan and plug it in, close the case and get back to work/games.- Important thing: When you are seating the heat sink onto the processor there are two things to be sure of. First: wipe off any bonding residue from the processor that might have been there from the previous heat sink. Make sure it's absolutely clean. Second: when you seat the new heat sink the bonding material will immediately connect so be absolutely sure you are setting it onto the processor correctly so you don't have to move it around. You can do this by lining up the screw holes.- Installation requires exactly ONE tool - a phillips screwdriver. There are only two screws to tighten (if you use the Intel set). The rest of the mounting hardware is done with the included snaps and you won't need anything more than your fingers to install it.Performance:- Here is the highlight. With the stock fan I was getting an average core temperature on an Intel Core i7-920 of around 52C. With this heat sink that temp immediately dropped to 39C-41C on average. That's 10 degrees cooler for 15 minutes of your time and not a lot of money. If you are planning to overclock or do high performance computing, those 10 degrees make a big difference.- I have already been able to overclock the system, put it through hard performance testing with BOINC, and the temperature has never gone above 72C (with the stock heat sink this same test sent the temperature to 85C-91C).- Quiet. Very, very quiet. Even when the fan kicks into high gear I can't hear it as compared to the stock fan which was noticeably loud when it got faster. This is important if you have an open style case, or if your case isn't on the floor under your desk. I have mine about 3 feet away from my ears and it was whisper soft. What you get in the box: Heat sink, Fan, Intel attachments, AMD attachments, instruction guide.Time to install: Approximately 15 minutes. No motherboard removal required.Overall Rating: 5 stars.

I purchased this cooler as an upgrade option on my mail order Velocity Micro PC. It gave me troubles almost from day one being very noisy. I usually leave my PC running continuously. After about a year I started getting messages at boot up saying that the CPU fan speed was too low. The fan wasn't spinning but I thought maybe it was only activated when the CPU got unusually hot; I thought the error message was a BIOS problem. After about a year my PC started shutting down randomly; that's when I realized there was a problem with the fan. When I spun the fan blade with my finger it would start running well but later would freeze and be difficult to turn. My PC became unusable so I ordered a replacement Arctic Cooler unit from Amazon. I only found out later that the manufacturer has an extended warranty on the product. Unfortunately I threw out the old cooler in the meantime.Note you have to deal with the retailer for the warranty, and in this case, with the retailer being mail order, it would have too much time and effort to attempt to collect on the warranty in any case for the cost of this product. The retailer wanted me to mail them the old unit. The replacement unit is very quiet and has given me no trouble in the first two months. One thing to note is that the installation instructions are horrible, a one page sheet of line drawings as I recall. If I had not got instructions on the web from a google search I am sure I would have damaged either the cooler or my PC trying to install this.I think I just got a bum unit so I am rating this product accordingly.

Pros:+ Amazing cooling ability+ Inexpensive (as of the date of my review)+ There is little to no fan noise+ Removing the motherboard is not required to install+ Includes mounting hardware for the supported Intel or AMD processors+ 6 Year Warranty+ One of the easiest heatsinks I've ever installed (which includes Intel, AMD, and some other after-market heatsinks)Cons:- May not fit in thin cases- The instructions are poorly written/illustratedDetailed review:I did my research and decided to buy this to replace the stock heatsink/fan that came with my Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz processor. It was relatively easy to install, much easier than the stock heatsink. I did not have to remove the motherboard, which was the main reason I bought this particular CPU cooler. The four little black nubs were a little painful on my fingers as I pushed them into my motherboard to install the mounting bracket. It is necessary to remove the fan to screw the heatsink into the mounting bracket (for Intel CPUs, not sure for AMD CPUs). The fan comes off and goes back on fairly easily. After using the two screws to mount the heatsink to the mounting bracket, I put the fan back on and connected the 4-pin power connector to the mobo.I used the thermal compound that was already applied to the heatsink. Some people clean it off and apply Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound, but I don't think it's necessary and mostly a waste of time. I did need to clean the previous thermal compound from the top of the CPU by wiping it with some rubbing alcohol on pieces of cotton. I have the Antec 900 case which has a 200mm fan on top of it. I pointed the fan on this CPU cooler directly at that huge fan.The cooling is fantastic. My CPU runs approximately an average of 20 degrees Celsius cooler than it ran with the stock heatsink. I also noticed it was much quieter than the stock CPU cooler. With my case, I can see the internal components and I noticed something unexpected (and a bit alarming at first). The fan on the heatsink wasn't even running! I had to double check, but found it is connected properly to the mobo. The heatsink does such a good job, the fan doesn't even need to run under idle conditions. When it does run, it is very quiet. It would be a great CPU cooler for overclocking the processor. On another site, this CPU cooler has received over 3600 reviews. Of those, 74% are the equivalent 5 stars, 15% gave 4 stars. I definitely recommend it if you have a supported CPU!
