This monitor is not bad at all. Not the sharpest picture, but that's not what it is designed for. Super portable, light weight and sets up fast and you can use it in portrait or landscape. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the fact that the USB port where you plug in the USB cable is located behind the 'kick stand' that holds the monitor up, which is a very strange and awkward place for the USB port, though this is really a minor inconvenience.I recommend bundling your order with the Case Logic Laptop 16" Sleeve (link below), as the screen comes as is with out a case.Case Logic PLS-15 15.4-16 Inch Neoprene Laptop Sleeve (Black)

Great monitor until I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Didn't work until I contacted tech support and was instructed me to download the driver from [...] (not the AOC website). Now it works again. This is a great second monitor for my Mac Air 11 inch. It weighs about the same as my iPad.

This monitor has been perfect to use alongside my primary monitor. As a gamer, I use this monitor to watch a stream, keep an eye on Ventrilo/Mumble, read a FAQ, or even watch a show on Hulu (depending on the amount of attention the game demands).The one complaint I have is that I've tried to use this monitor on its own (for example, when visiting friends out of town and I want to take my PC with me), and it was unpleasant. While playing any games, the screen appears to have some aliasing issues (not sure if I may have needed to tweak the settings of the game/monitor), making smaller text generally unreadable, and causing gameplay to be a bit more difficult/less pleasing to the eye.But overall, I'm very satisfied with this monitor as a secondary monitor.

i am used to work with more than one screen so this product suits perfectly to my purposes. extremely affordable. ultra light making it easy to transport in a backpak together with the laptop.the automatic sensing portrait/landscape feature is excelent, except for some flickering effect which i pressume has to do with the driver. if i had to ask for more, it would be not to have this flickering problem, higher resolution and maybe being thiner. but even without those things it is worth for your productivity. i do recommend especially for a new experience when you travel.obs: i liked so much that i use at home with my laptop.

As an auditor in public accounting, it is now essential to have dual monitors based on the paperless environment. I have been searching a long time for the perfect second monitor that can be taken out in the field without having to carry a huge second weight around. This monitor meets all of the field auditors needs - the major benefits are the following: 1) Very light 2)Only needs power via USB cable 3) Can rotate landscape or portrait with ease 4) fits in my laptop bag with my laptop. Overall, this is a must have piece of equipment for anyone in the business arena who requires a second monitor on the go. I highly recommend this and have purchased several since for other employees.

This may help someone who is unable to (a) rotate the screen from landscape to portrait and/or (b) adjust the screen brightness in Mac OS X.To rotate the screen, hold down Command and Option while clicking on the 'Display' icon in System Preferences. You should find a rotation option for the e1649Fwu monitor.To adjust the brightness, you will need to down ScreenShade. It allows you to dim your main monitor, external monitor, or both. A word of caution though - I'm no expert, but it seems the app simply places a layer of grey or tint over the monitor. Hence while this will undoubtedly dim the screen, it may also intervene with colours, etc. Another app known as Shades is slicker (imho) but doesn't work with the e1649Fwu.So there you have it - the rotation and brightness problems solved for Mac users! For Windows users who may need a dimming solution, I suppose there will be similar software like the ones mentioned for Mac OS X.

El monitor es ligero excelente para transportarlo. En algunos comentarios hacen menci?n del plastico barato, de cierta forma es lo que hace que sea ligero, pero tampoco es una cascara de huevo, se debe cuidar c?mo cualquier otro producto delicado, no esta dise?ado para golpes al igual que muchos otros productos que normalmente son portables.Algunas consideraciones para los creadores del monitor ser?an:1. Un forro para proteger la pantalla, aunque tampoco est? fuera del alcance comprar un estuche que se utiliza para laptops de 16 sencillo que sirve de transportador y protector.2. El USB cambiarlo de lugar ya que esta un tanto incomodo su posici?n y peligroso para aquellos despitados que alg?n momento cierren la patilla y no se percaten que esta conectado todav?a.3. La otra mejora es lograr incorporar los drivers dentro del mismo dispositivo, tal vez con eso muchos de los que se sienten disconformes con tener que estar instalando por aparte los drivers con un CD o una llave USB se contenten.Por mi parte estoy esperando para adquirir otro m?s.

This item has VERY poor display quality. Purchased as a second larger screen for video viewing on a netbook, it will only display a static screen and locks up when attempting to play video, which was the intention of the purchase. The portability benefit does not outway the quality of the displayed image. I would advise considering other options, I couldn't return this quickly enough!

As a second monitor, or as a mirror of your desktop, it works great. Cord is a bit short, but on my core-i3 it will even do full screen video - some people reported issues but I'm not seeing that problem. Resolution is a bit odd as my flatscreen wants either 1080 or 720p, but I'm only Loosing the very edge of the screen....all and all a great addition to my media center.

This is a great little monitor that I just use on a regular basis when I'm working. I just plug it into the USB ports on my computer and it works perfectly when I multi-task on projects if I need to do something on Word real quick or browse the internet while having another screen on my main monitor up this is perfect. Trying to do video like Netflix on it doesn't work as well but if you are just using it for typing or browsing you can just use your main monitor. Highly recommend.

This is a great monitor. Set up is a breeze and it works great. I have been using it for about 1 week. I use it everyday for a few hours each day. I use it at my desk and at meetings outside of the office. The resolution is great. Although the screen is a little too bright, it is not a big deal and I have gotten used to it. The only problem with it that I have encountered is my potential clients are more interested in the usb screen than my presentations!

Purchased two of these for a trade show...they look and work great. Very bright. Simple to install. Had two running on my laptop as screens 2 and 3. Could imagine packing one of these along on a business trip to supplement the small display on a netbook or 13" laptop. Only tiny negative is that the USB port is hidden inside the hinged display mount making it awkward to support and removing the option of flat mounting these with velcro on a wall surface.

Couple of things to note:-This display is very lightweight and quite suitable to carry around if you can protect it adequately-Very bright, it may not be ideal for some, I believe the LED back lighting will actually decrease in brightness throughout use-Viewing angle is quite acceptable and comparable to standard displays-Color reproduction is fine but probably may not be suited for graphic designers-Very reflective screen, when used in an office you'd probably notice the ceiling lights at a certain angle-The price point is about right-Unit will still work without drivers but rotation has to be manually adjusted-Fingerprint magnet, beware of this. Overall design is great, minimalistic and what I would expect from AOC

It is thin and looks crisp and bright. It is 1080 and it has no lag on like previous USB video solutions that I have tried in the past. If you need an additional LCD that is portable then this is for you. I love it!

Tried setting up this Usb Monitor with my dell tablet/laptop running Windows 7 and my older Samsung Q1 Ultra running Windows Vista. It wouldn't work at all with my Dell and would only display the wallpaper on my Samsung. Really dissappointing !!!!!

I bought this to replace a 17" LCD that died and couldn't be more pleased. I didn't have to change any of the default settings and had no problems with the stand or tilting it to my preference. The color and sharpness are both very good and you do not even have to use the driver disk that comes with it. The only thing I found the drivers did was to make a connection to AOC which certainly is not needed. Monitors should never need to have special drivers installed these days.You can't go wrong with this monitor. Just hook it up and plug in in and it's good to go.

Badly needed a new monitor and caught this one on sale for $99. The picture is beautiful but the design of the body is badly flawed. The housing of the monitor, the post it's attached to and the base are cheap plastic. For the price I paid, I could overlook that but what's most irritating is the monitor's refusal to tilt back. It's default position was far forward and it was only with a great deal of difficulty that I was able to adjust it. At times I put so much force on it that I feared the plastic stand would snap. I tried several times to tilt it slightly back but it refuses to move out of a totally vertical position. After a few e-mail exchanges with an AOC support rep, his best advice was - and I quote - "You will have to put force to till the screen otherwise it will not move. The easiest way to find out how far back it can tilt it to first tilt it forward then backwards." Well, duh....I'd already told him in the last e-mail that I'd done the "tilt forward and then backward" and that force wasn't working so that's why I contacted him. Too much trouble to return the stupid thing. At least it's a nice, sharp picture; only trouble is it's impossible to see it when the monitor is sitting on my desk. The only way to see the screen and make this monitor useable is to raise it about 8 inches above the desktop so the monitor is now sitting on the box that it came in. Hopefully I'll come up with a more practical and aesthetically pleasing solution soon.

My first impression when I took it out of the box was it was nice and shiny but the light-weight (although good for travel) and plasticky feel made it seem cheap. When I plugged in the USB, the connection was a loose fit and the cord moved too much (weird angle for plug-in too). The monitor never displayed a thing after the installation process. I got a "faulty USB" message and when I unplugged it, the whole USB metal part came right out from the unit. I was just going to return it and be done with it but after reading all the hype, I think I'll exchange it and give it one more try.The box was sealed and new. I had purchased from ABC Warehouse.

When I received my monitor, the USB port on the back was slightly damaged. It still works, but I am concerned about what types of issues that it may have in the future. I contacted Amazon's support and I was told to contact the manufacturer. all in all, it should work fine, but the fact that it arrived damaged concerned me.
