Nothing Keeps Coffee Hotter Longer
Wow. I bought two of these a couple of months ago. Although I buy my coffee in the morning and usually finish it by lunchtime, I've had numerous times where I didn't finish it and, provided I kept the lid shut when not drinking, the coffee was still hot (not just warm, but HOT) in the mid-afternoon. Pros: seals tight and doesn't spill; has a lock so I can throw it in my computer bag and it doesn't pop open; easy one-hand opening/closing/locking/unlocking; slim elegant design fits 16oz but looks smaller; comes apart so you can clean all the nooks and crannies; inexpensive enough that you can buy two so there's always a clean one in the cabinet. Cons: a little cumbersome to take apart, clean, and put back together -- but after two months, I've pretty much got it down to a science.

Lid mechanism consistently gets stuck...
Looks great but I have run into a few issues that make it hard to continue using this mug:
1) I didn't realize how tall it would be. It does not fit beneath a standard Keurig 2.0 K200 (without the drip pan). You have to raise the machine onto a higher platform to use it with this mug. This is something I can live with though.
2) The lid opening mechanism consistently gets stuck so that I have to try and rip the lid off very frequently to get it open. I don't know if there's something missing in the hinge, but it looks poorly/cheaply made. It is really frustrating (especially when you're dying for caffeine) to always need two hands and a good deal of effort to pry open the lid...
The aesthetics are great! That is why I bought it originally. However, it's not as functionally sound as I had hoped.

P65 warning on box
Just received it today. I'm excited to try it, then I take a closer look at the box. There is a P65 (cancer / reproductive harm) warning. There is no indication of which part it is referring to. The site states that it is BPA free, so what is the possibly harmful component? Going to be returning it.

These mugs leak all of the time.
I bought 2 of these travel mugs for my wife for her birthday. The 1st day she used it it leaked. I tried screwing the lid down tight but it still leaked. I looked at it and saw that the cap insert comes out for what I assume is cleaning and it may not have been seated tightly. She refused to use them. I used them for work and even after seating the insert it still leaked. The only positive on the mug is it kept my coffee hot most of the day. I want to return them. It was a waste of money.

If you only want the best...
So I bought a Thermos branded mug and was so impressed with it, I bought four more - that is until I was introduced to this little guy. The Thermos kept my coffee warm for around 4 hours (it says 8) and kept my ice-cold water cold for a good 10-12 hours. I thought that is pretty impressive but one day I dropped by Thermos, and it got dented, then a few months after that, the lid just cracked. I guess from the hot coffee that poured from my French press every day. I was on the hunt for another mug when I saw this one from Zojirushi. The price for the little guy (17oz) was $25+, and I thought it was pricey, given that I bought my thermos for <$20. The one thing that drawn me to the mug was the ease of cleaning, my Thermos was a little hard to clean, and it stained after a few months' use. From the reviews, many people indicated that the plastics used seemed to be of better quality plastics, so that was definitely a plus, the second plus was the ease of cleaning. Yes, I actually looked up the video on how to clean the mug before I purchase it (NERD Alert!)...
All factors combined, ease of cleaning, better quality plastics, all pieces come apart for cleaning, I bit the bullet and purchased it...
Fast forward six months, and IMPRESSED (capitalized) is an understatement.
Not only is the mug so easy to clean (I don't have any of the coffee smell lingering in the mug when I take the whole thing apart and use it to drink cold water) it kept hot coffee hot for a good 5-6 hours. I don't mean warm, I mean HOT. I make my French press coffee at 7AM every weekday and my coffee kept (burning) hot until I finished it the last drop by 11AM. Some days, I didn't get to finish my coffee by 11AM and when I take my sips of coffee that I made at 7AM, in the middle of the afternoon, it was still hot (not burning hot, but hot enough to enjoy). My coffee in the mug also tasted fresh, and good, almost as good as when I made it in the morning.
I am so happy I found the 16oz one, I purchased another 20oz one and plan to use that at the office. I'm keeping my 16oz at home for my weekend coffee enjoyment. If there's one emotion that I can sum up for this mug, it is "Love" I'm in love with this mug from Zojirushi and glad that other reviewers pointed me to it. If you're considering to purchase it; don't hesitate, you won't regret it.

Incredible thermos ability, with some drawbacks
When asked for a good thermos suggestion, Zojirushi is always my first recommendation. Their products have a truly impressive ability to keep the hot hot and cold cold. In addition, the long and slender shape makes for easy transport and storage. I have never felt it big or bulky, yet feels solid in the hand.
I have some gripes over my time using it.
The mouthpiece for drinking could be better, it seems to me far better suited for pouring. I keep a mug at my desk at work for exactly this purpose. Drinking directly out of it demands lifting the bottle up awkwardly high, and it is then hard to gauge flow. Not necessarily something you want with hot liquids. Many brands struggle, but Zojirushi seems to handle it slightly better than most.
It will occasionally leak around the lip, from the locking mechanism, lid base, or flip-cap. When this does happen it’s usually minor.
The major drawback is cleaning. Frequent coffee or tea drinking will leave a fine patina on the inside of the bottle. When built up that dishwasher alone won't tackle it, it is incredibly difficult to wipe it from the inside of the bottle. Its long narrow shape becomes a product flaw. Similarly, some of the gaskets and fittings are hard to clean and can hold moisture from washing.
Through all of this the Zojirushi holds its own purely off of its ability to keep temperature. There’s certainly things that could be fixed, but I still use mine every day. And I continue to recommend it.

Too Warm But Still Works
I work 8-12 hour shifts & am constantly on my feet so I want my coffee to stay hot as long as possible. I chose this because I know the manufacturer also makes really good rice cookers. I gave this 5 stars because it does what I need it to do. Pros/cons listed below. (pink one is cute but that's just an opinion)
Pros:
- Maintains heat/temperature for long time
- Leakproof/strong suction(?) - after a month I've stopped doing the leak test because I trust it
- Easy to take apart to clean pieces & clicks together well (dish soap is fine)
- Great insulation -- no matter how hot the inside contents are, the outside will maintain its temperature (won't get hot). I forgot I poured hot coffee in and I put it in my lunchbag where there was an ice pack. When I drank from it, the outside was cold but inside still hot (felt weird though)
Con: (or tip because I still see this as a 5 star product) If you pour hot/boiling water in, I'd advise to keep the top off for a few minutes for heat to leave. The first time I used it, I poured boiling water, made Maxim instant coffee, and immediately closed it and went to work. When I opened it ~30 minutes later, steam came out and when I drank it, I almost burnt my tongue. I generally love scalding hot coffee but it was like I drank it straight from the electric kettle. Now when I make coffee I have to leave the lid off for like 10 minutes. Despite this con, I would still buy this for a friend because it's an easy fix.

Keeps liquids hot for literally hours
I bought this thermos more than 4 years ago. It is still in great condition. I've never had issues of leakage regarding its design, just make sure you don't overfill it and also to dry the part outside of the bottle's mouth where the thread is before you put the lid on. I only use this for hot liquids, and I find that it keeps it hot for HOURS. It works TOO well! I could put hot coffee in at 7am and it is still warm at 5pm. I can't drink my coffee scalding hot, but that's how well this thermos works! I find myself having to open the lid to let it cool down or adding some more room temp/cool liquid in to reduce the temp a bit. Overall, I am very satisfied with how well this thermos works.
I would note that darker liquids such as earl grey tea and coffee can be hard to clean from the lid parts if you forget to wash it the same day. The lid parts are somewhat tedious to clean because there's 2 rubber parts, hard to reach areas and the hole where the liquid goes through is very small to clean adequately. Nonetheless, I would still recommend it because it serves its purpose formidably, which is heat/cold retention.

Does not stand behind their product
Originally I thought the product was great. I bought 5 of these last year and all was well. However, one of the locks on one of my bottles was not secure for quite some time. Instead of trying to ask for a new cap (since it was defective) I bought a sixth bottle. It was then that I decided not to waste a perfectly good bottle and see if the company could help me with the defective locking mechanism. Well i reaches out to them and they said they don’t cover damaged, missing or lost parts. I told them that it’s a defect...nothing is lost or missing. Never got another response. I cannot support a company that cannot give me some options for a part that is defective. There are plenty of other good bottles out there.

Perfect height for my new Keurig K-Elite.
I used to own a 16 oz similar mug. But because it was too tall to fit under the Keurig, I always had to make the coffee in a Pyrex measuring cup and then pour it in the mug. Now that I upgraded my coffee maker to a new Keurig K-Elite, I decided to get a mug that could fit under it. This little one is prefect height, and I can make coffee directly in the mug now. I chose the 12 oz setting on the coffee maker, and there is still enough room to put on the lid without having to pour out any coffee. Though I only add sugar in the coffee, not creamer or milk or anything else.

Great bottle!
This water bottle is amazing. To test it out.. I filled it with boiling water before going to bed and when I got up the next morning the water was still pipping hot! I've left unfinished tea in there and 24 hours later it is still pretty warm. The only problem is that it keeps the water so hot it's difficult to drink so I brew my tea with half a bottle of hot water and then add room temp water to make it comfortable enough to drink. I love that the spout is very easy to clean. I'm going to buy one for my daughter as well because I'm sick of washing straw bottles.

Stays piping hot, easy to use on the road, easy to clean
Keeps my coffee piping hot - I used to put coffee in my Contigo too hot to drink knowing it would cool quickly. In the Zojirushi I put it exactly how I like it. The Zojirushi is as good as my HydroFlask thermos, it's not a mug, it has the small opening. I think the latter is important as that's where the heat escapes.
As for drinking from it while driving, I have no problem seeing the road. I also find the lid tips back far enough to be out of the way. Mine is the 12oz so it isn't necessary to tip it way up. Don't know if it's more difficult with a 16oz but not worried about it and planning to order one.

Complicated with many parts, but leak proof and keeps temperature well
For the most part, I like my travel mugs to be as simple as possible- slosh some coffee in them, toss them in the bag and head out on the subway, and then throw it in the dishwasher at the end of the day. However, when I'm on traveling for work, I want something that's compact, and more protected/sanitary. I love that this mug has a cover over the part that you drink from, so that it stays protected while you're dashing around an airport or whatever. It's small, but keeps things quite cold or hot for a long time. Cleaning is a bit more of a process since there's a bunch of parts, but overall, it's worth the effort!

Good thermos. Read instructions first.
Would like to give a five star as it retains heat well. However this was a gift to my Husband for Christmas. He takes it out of the wrapper, takes the tags off, along with all the stickers. He then turns to the directions to see how to wash it for the first use. After reading the instructions he finds out they tell you not to remove the sticker from the bottom as this can result in "rust and holes". Considering the sticker was easy to remove and in one piece I don't think it would've stayed on the bottom. Seems like a good place to collect dirt and germs since I don't know how to wash a sticker. Also nothing was put on the sticker itself like "do not remove". Whole thing seems silly and if you are like my Husband you might remove the sticker before findng out it says not to. Haven't had an issue with the bottom yet, so we will see. My advice to Zojirushi is don't even put a sticker on the bottom. Problem sloved. But it does fit comfortably in the hand. It has a nice lid design that prevents spilling while it's easy to drink from. A few of little parts in lid I don't like cleaning but that is what makes it a good design too so.....

This thing is no JOKE
I honestly do not know how these people have insulated these thermos, but I do have to say that these things do not play games. The thermos will keep your beverage hot for HOURS.
I work at the airport and I accidentally forgot my thermos at the parking lot for a well over 8 hour shift. It was the winter time during the holiday which becomes more hectic for us airport employees. When I got into my vehicle, I was almost certain my coffee was going to be cold , no, actually I was POSITIVE it was going to be cold.... Boy was I wrong. I was absolutely shocked when I saw steam coming out from the thermos! It was still well over warm phase, wasn't hot, nor was it warm... it was just perfect .
I absolutely love this brand. Great for work, traveling , you name it ! Definitely worth it !

Pretty great product
After owning this product through fall and into winter I now feel that I can confidently review it. I use it almost daily, originally for coffee, but recently I've switched over to tea. One complaint I have is that the silicone bits suck in the smell of whatever you have stored in it and is almost impossible to remove, but shouldn't be a problem if you are dedicated to either tea or coffee. As far as keeping your beverage hot, it does an outstanding job. I usually brew my tea inside the thermos itself because I don't have time to do it any other way; naturally for black tea that's water at around 212 f. This is one disadvantage, it retains the temperature so well that even after sitting in there for 2-3 hours the water is still scalding hot! I've even left it in my car for 6+ hours at freezing temperatures and when I got back to it the tea was still very warm. I think this is a great solution if you want your beverage to retain it's heat and I also like the array of colors and design. As far as leaks, I've never had one (I've never intentionally tried either to be fair).

For a bottle that's 16oz, it's a little smaller in the hand than I expected. I like that all the parts can be dismantled for cleaning and drying. There was a long page of instructions and care in English, French, Chinese traditional, Chinese simplified, Korean and Japanese. A lot of the instructions are common sense. One thing that was weird is the sticker on the bottom cannot be removed. Doing so may cause rust or holes according to the instructions. Now I'm really curious why a bottle that looks so well made could use a sticker, STICKER, at the base at all.

The mouthpiece comes out for in-depth cleaning, which is really nice. Be careful putting it back in though, because if it isn't lined up right it won't stay snug. (Fortunately I learned this before trying to take a drink.) I love the locking feature cause then if it goes sideways when it's in my lunch bag or purse I don't have to panic and worry about coffee or tea everywhere. There is a metal top to the canister itself that makes it too tall for most Keurig machines but I just use a glass measuring cup and transfer from there, or use it for tea.

Takes commitment, but well worth it.
I have now owned my Zojirushi for almost six years, and it is without a doubt the best travel coffee mug I have ever had.
I fill the mug before I leave for work...in the car at 6:45am. I sip the coffee until it is gone, usually around 10am...and it is still piping hot with the last sip. unless you plan to pour the coffee into a cup to drink it, please know that you will not be able to drink the coffee fast, as it stays too hot in the mug. This is the absolute best part of this mug for me.
For advanced users, fill the mug with hot water prior to filling it with coffee...this keeps it almost scalding hot for hours.
Now...the commitment...
Cleaning it...
While this mug contains several pieces in the lid that come apart for cleaning, I have gotten the routine down.
The night before, I rinse the mug, put a small amount of soap in the mug along with some warm or hot water, screw the cap on, and shake it vigorously. I then pour that into a container, and disassemble the lid, and throw those pieces into the soapy water, to soak overnight. Make sure you rinse well in the morning...nothing ruins a morning coffee like soapy aftertaste.
I have probably used vinegar on the mug maybe once or twice in 5.5 years...letting it sit over night then scrubbing it with a bottle brush.
This mug requires a bit of work, but for a black coffee drinker, it suits my needs and saves me about $12 a week in not buying take out coffee...so...that is about $2500 saved so far...

Piping hot all day long!!!!
I was a bit skeptical at first when I opened it, thinking it wouldn't keep anything hot due to it being so light weight. I put my hot coffee into it around 7:30 am and left for work. It was busy at work, so I didn't get to grab a sip until about 10 and could bearly get a good sip because it was so HOT!!! I was amazed!!! The coffee stayed piping hot all day long!!!!! I left for lunch and it was like 12 degrees outside. The outside of the mug was ice cold.....but the coffee was HOT!!! Even at 3pm, when I went to finish it off, it was STILL HOT!!! I love this mug and my husband, whom I bought one for also, loves his!!! I DEFINITELY recommend this mug. It has put all of my other coffee cups and thermoses to shame!!! Great product!!!

BEST MUG EVER!!!!!
In order for me to give a product a five star review, it must far exceed my expectations. This Zojirushi mug does that, and then some!
I shopped around online for mugs for my husband and I for a while, and when I read the reviews about this mug, I was skeptical "how could you put a mug of hot liquid in a refrigerator overnight, to find it still very hot the next morning?" "Impossible!", I thought. But I was wrong!
I used it as soon as it came in the mail, I couldn't wait. I filled it with piping hot tea and took it to a 3 hour meeting with me. I left the top OPEN to allow steam and heat to escape, so that it would be drinkable. Even after my 3 hour meeting was over, it was still too hot to drink. "How is this possible?" I asked myself.
Now when I put piping hot liquid in it, I add two cubes of ice so that it is immediately drinkable, and it stays the same temperature for HOURS!!!
This mug is also durable...you can throw it around, flip it upside down, it won't leak, ding or anything. I also love the color (Champagne is what I ordered), it's so sophisticated looking.
If I were rich I would buy one of these for everybody for Christmas this year! I'm so glad I didn't buy another well known brand of mug, this mug is absolutely perfect in my book. I wouldn't change anything about it.

I used it as soon as it came in the mail, I couldn't wait. I filled it with piping hot tea and took it to a 3 hour meeting with me. I left the top OPEN to allow steam and heat to escape, so that it would be drinkable. Even after my 3 hour meeting was over, it was still too hot to drink. "How is this possible?" I asked myself.
Now when I put piping hot liquid in it, I add two cubes of ice so that it is immediately drinkable, and it stays the same temperature for HOURS!!!
This mug is also durable...you can throw it around, flip it upside down, it won't leak, ding or anything. I also love the color (Champagne is what I ordered), it's so sophisticated looking.
If I were rich I would buy one of these for everybody for Christmas this year! I'm so glad I didn't buy another well known brand of mug, this mug is absolutely perfect in my book. I wouldn't change anything about it.

Hot stayed hot for 14 hours in sub freezing weather and ice cold stayed ice cold for 36 hours in 85 + degree heat.
Amazing. I was skeptical but my first use was over the winter. I made coffee and took it to work at 6:00 a.m. I drank about half and the rest stayed in the car and the temperature outside was in the teens. I don't get out of work until 8:30 at night. The coffee was still warm.
Second test. I put ice water in it before work, took it to work, it sat in my car with the outside temperature around 88 degrees. That night when I got out the water was still ice cold. But wait....there's more..... I got home and left it on the counter overnight. When I went to empty it out the next morning there WAS STILL ICE IN IT!!!

Love this thermos!
I got the lavender pink one as a gift and it lasted for 3 or 4 yrs until I dropped it on the bathroom floor while camping and the hinge hit and broke the plastic cap off. So, there went my favorite thermos. Then I saw these 2 packs in different colors and got the lavender pink and the blue to give as a gift and keep one for myself. I gave my mom the pink one because she gave it to me before she ever tried it and she was so happy. I like the blue one too, and I use it for tea and water and hot and cold and hand wash it only because it's gentler on the finish. I was going to get a larger size, but after reading reviews about the rubber from the lid hitting your nose when drinking, I stuck with the 16 oz. because I was happy with it before.

Gets your nose wet.
We carefully read the product reviews on Amazon prior to purchasing. The best points were ability to keep liquid hot and fits in cupholders. Those are true points however, the liquid in the Zojirushi forms a drop on the “stopper” so when you drink, the drop transfers to your nose which is not pleasant. Also, the tall Zojirushi has a high center of gravity and that along with the thin narrow base creates a big tipping hazzard. Particularly in a moving ferry or train which I commute on where there are only flat surfaces, not cup holders. A minor issue is that when the lid is closed after drinking there is a very noticeable “click” which can be an annoyance to those around you.
