The drive is awesome. You'll need an up to date system with the latest windows service packs. But all is great.

The hard drive was shipped in a flimsy shipping bag. There was absolutely no support to guarentee that if the package was dropped that the hard drive would be ok. The corner of the hardrive was broken and am still in the process of trying to get it to work. If no luck by the end of the week I will be asking for a refund on my money.

It's been like a month since I got it and it is working just fine.Even though the package just comes with the HD, it has the diagram to set the jumper as master, slave or master with slave. Set it up to master with slave installed Linux in it and I have now two HD up and running.

This drive died after 14 months of usage. Began with a clicking noise before it died so at least I had some warning of the impending failure to perform backups.

Excellent value for money here - seen the same item elsewhere for around $119, so this is one great deal. No frills - the HD and nothing but the HD (no cables or written matter included). I used it as a replacement drive - dropped it in, popped in the windows XP CD for a fresh o/s install, and was on my way.

received this hard drive (which was not what I had ordered). I decided it was not worth the effort to return it. So, I installed it and a week later it died.

I bought this hard drive as an upgrade for my old HP, and it is excellent for the price. The only bad thing is that you need to know how to install it and restore all your programs, as it comes with no instructions at all. But all in all, a great value.

I am very satisfied with the whole experience in making this purchase. It was delivered promptly and it has been working without an issue. (I am using it as I type this).I had a professional install it so the fact that it did not come with instructions did not effect me. There have been no surprises which is how things should go when making a purchase. I am very satisfied with this purchase. I gladly recommend this hard drive.

I INSTALLED THIS HARD DRIVE IN A USED PC I PURCHASED. THOUGH THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS, INSTALLATION WAS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD. I SHOPPED PRICES AND COULD NOT BEAT AMAZON'S PRICE. WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE NEEDING A REPLACEMENT DRIVE AT A BARGAIN PRICE.

Works well. The package contained no instructions. I was experienced with installing other WD drives so it was easy for me. You can go to the Western Digital website for full instructions.

I bought this drive a little over one year ago and with 2 years warranty. Around 8 months period, the system cannot boot from the drive and the test software provided by WD also proved it's dead. So I mailed it back for a replacement, and (surprisingly) I got back a re-certified one with only 3 months warranty. Literally, my warranty plan was cut to 1 year. I didn't bother to call them to get a new replacement. Unfortunately, another 2 months after the warranty expires (from the re-cerified one), the disk went dead again.I would not recommend this model to anyone, since within 1 year, 2 went bad. Also, I don't like the way they handle the replacement within warranty period.

The hard drive came in perfect condition. However, you need to be an expert on installation of software because no instructions are provided with it on formatting and getting it ready to receive information.However, with the assistance of the internet and some excellent web sites, it was up and running in no time.

This drive installed easily and works fine. Just be aware that this is a "bare" drive - with no documentation or anything else. If you know what you are doing you should have no problem. If you have never installed an internal drive before, get some help.

This drive is impossible to pass up at this price. I used it on a new build with no problems. I can see being a bit confused installing it due to the lack of instructions. You only get the drive in the box, absolutely nothing else. I'm not complaining though!

This is the cheapest hard drive around period. It is even cheaper than the ones with less space. Not only that but it is a quality Western Digital product. I have used there hard drives for years and not a single problem yet. Great Product!

This drive was shipped to me with inadequate packaging to protect it from damage during transit. It did not come in a manufacturer's box, just a wrapper. The documentation I received with it were advertisements for some skin care products and a mother's day sale, nothing relevant. I did not receive any installation screws or brackets. No software came with it. It is being returned.

This product was easy to install, works great, and is a great value. Jumper settings are printed right on the product label. Default setting is cable select, which should be just fine for most installations. You can easily go to the WD web site if youneed additional information.

But, as has already been mentioned, you may be surprised to find that it is only a drive. No instructions, or installation material at all. I suggest you hop over to www.wdc.com and get a copy of the disk setup program, which conveniently fits on a 1.44MB diskette. It comes with its own DOS so it will boot up, and you can partition and format your new drive, if your computer's BIOS can't recognize the drive as an 80GB.
