не трещит,не шумит,не щелкает..... работает, своих денег стоит
- + довольно быстрый.
- - цена, шумноват.
по моему многовато за диск просят. Может он надежнее, чем caviar black, но все же +1500-2000 - это перебор...
HOT, SUPER HOT, literally...you can cook easily on this hard drives after a few minutes, and I have 2 of these beasts in RAID1 (mirroring) and I cannot keep my hand on them when they stop. This HDD was designed for servers and RAID configurations specifically where the recovery time (TLER) needs to be minimal. Some cheap RAID enclosures will fail to recognize a normal HDD sometimes or drop the RAID just because of the time that sometimes the HDD stops responding. Not the case with RE class, never had any problem regarding the RAID, just the amazing high operating temperature (which by the way is just normal for RE class, 60C or 140F). I keep my RAID enclosure always open and I always turn the power off when not using it.The noise is just fine, slightly below the average noise of a comparable HDD and no funny noises like grinding or anything like that.Mine came with 5 years warranty straight from WD. Don't buy it just for average applications, or if the enclosure is not well ventilated. For daily usage/storage in NON-RAID configurations just use WD BLUE class HDDs, they stay really cool and when not used for a while they self-park saving your money while making no noise at all.
I bought two of these to replace a failed drive in a Windows Home Server and to RAID my desktop system. I was surprised that they were branded as "DELL". Evidently it's not uncommon for systems integrators to have these unused as the next generation comes out so they sell the prior generation. Don't get me wrong, these were new drives and server level devices. I got really good drive at a very reasonable price. One thing I learned in this is that you should always invest in server class devices if they're doing server class work, in my case this is 24X7 operator on a server, it's worth a few extra bucks.
I purchased this drive to replace an older failing WD Caviar Green. It had less than 200 hours on it and it's already in 'imminent failure' which means, 'back it up before it dies' type of thing. This drive, when I received it, didn't function, so I contacted the seller expecting some hassles, but what I received instead, was outstanding customer service. Got the RMA authorization within a matter of hours, so I packed it up and shipped it.Expecting at least a two week wait for the replacement, I was very surprised that it arrived within about eight days. Apparently, once they get a tracking number that the item was shipped, they immediately shipped off the replacement. Can't ask for much more than that.Anyway, the customer service rep was very responsive and answered all of my questions. One can't help but get the feeling that they care about you as a customer, which is a good thing, because I'll most certainly give them the consideration they deserve, when buying my next drive. All in all, an excellent company...with excellent people.
Drives arrived quickly and were packed in standard hard drive shipping box. They worked without an issue. However, the manufacture date on the drives is 2009 and that is usually how WD warrants the drive, from the date of manufacture. WD shows a five (5) year warranty on these drives, which would be up in 2014. If you depend upon the warranty, these may not be the drives for you.
the product was shipped in good time and have been working great. good customer service from merchant also, no complains here.
It took much longer to get the RAID card working than these drives. Remember that to do hardware RAID, you have to use compatible drives like this one.
Bought one from Aeon, which arrived ~01/25/2013. Checked the SN for warranty and found the 5 year warranty had a little over 2 years left; e.g. April 2015. I returned it unused.
PACKAGE CAME FAST AND PROPERLY SECURED. INSTALLING WAS A EASE. PLANNING TO BUY MORE. HOPE YOU HAVE MORE AT SUCH A GREAT PRICE.
This is my 11 hard drive purchased from WD. Never have I had any issues, none! The free utilities on their website are a definite plus also. I would never hesitate to buy more products from them.
I bought two Western Digital 1 TB drives for a home server raid system. These enterprise class drives are the best solution, and the price is remarkable. No problems to date.
I must be rough on my drives. Cooling usually is around 32C, but power-on times are 100%. Low activity, but I notice when there are failures. This drive, the WD1002FBYS, is one of the few drives that, with proper installation and active cooling, continues to run. I bought one in October of 2010, and it's just as happy as a clam. My WD15EARS and WD15EARX drives last about 6 months. This is on a decent UPS, surge protection, etc.So, it's a little more expensive, but it's more reliable. With the non-RE drives, you're looking at a much higher risk of data loss.Sure, backup copies and backups of backup copies, but there comes a time when even geeks like me tire of re-copying data, or even worse, losing multiple drives at the same time, and actually suffering loss.So save yourself the trouble. Spend the extra money and get a drive that is less likely to fail on you.My current "hasn't failed in over 10 months of power-on time" drive models are:* WD1002FBYS* ST32000542AS
I bought four of these OEM RAID-edition (RE3) hard-drives, each of 1 TB capacity. One unit was dead-on-arrival, i.e., did not even power-up. I contacted the seller. His service was really awesome. He made a full refund of the item price for the defective unit.A few days ago, which would be only a few months from the purchase date, one of the other units died. It was powering up but was giving unrecoverable I/O errors. Fortunately, the unit was still under warranty, and Western Digital provided good customer service, and shipped a replacement hard-drive on RMA.Overall, I am very disappointed with the build-quality of these hard-drives, especially with respect to their shelf-lives. The build dates on these drives tell me that those had stayed on the shelf a little over a year when shipped. Those were still shipped new and sealed in their OEM bags, but showed reasonably very poor quality. But, again, I cannot emphasise enough how pleased I was with the level of service that I received from the seller. The build-quality was not his fault, but in the first instance of the defect, he truly went out of his way to refund my money. Highly recommended.
Perfect drives very fast, I bought 2 of these 2 years ago. I edit a lot of video / pictures. I never had any problems. Great warranty 5y.
For my primary drives I only use RE3 eneterprise drives. Same for my full backup drives. I have never had one go south on me.Would buy again if I build another PC anytime soon.
This enterprize drive is designed for RAID arrays. Other WD drives tend to timeout in RAID arrays and get marked as FAILED when they are good (you can reset them and rebuild the array).
I purchased this drive in March and it initially seemed to be relatively quick and reliable drive in the same class as the Seagate enterprise-class drives I normally use. I then began noticing that whenever I put a heavy load on the drive, the drive would "hang" for several seconds with no I/O activity as if it went to sleep. Moving the drive from a Marvel controller to an Intel controller had no effect so it's clearly a problem with the drive itself. I finally swapped it out for a Seagate NS drive and the problem disappeared.I use Western Digital Velociraptor drives as my boot drives and these have proven to be very quick and reliable, so it's a shame I had such a problem with Western Digital's enterprise-class drives right off the bat. I may have just gotten a bad apple out of the bunch, but I'll stick with Seagate for RAID arrays and data drives.
Great hardware, good price. True enterprise drives, good sized cache, TLER enabled. Pair 4 of these with an adaptec 2405 (also sold on Amaz(ing)on) and configure them in RAID 10 for 1.8TB of usable, failure resistant, and blazing fast disk space. I've purchased about 20 of these from Amazon so far, no DOAs, and WD warranty service in the past has always been great so you can buy with confidence. No I don't work for Western Digital but I do build a lot of servers weekly and these are my favorite drives based on price for quality.
I ordered two of these drives to run a RAID 1 configuration in a new workstation being built. I specifically got them because of their product specifications for RAID arrays. I am running them under Windows 7 Professional x64 after downloading the latest drivers from Intel and loading them up from a USB drive during the Windows 7 install. These drives run really fast - I get almost instantaneous loading of Microsoft Office.I ordered from Amazon, instead of my usual PC parts place, because of concerns about packaging. My usual supplier ships OEM drives wrapped in two or three layers of bubble wrap and them placed loose inside the shipping box. Amazon packed each drive in its own box with the drive held suspended inside the box by two black plastic (recyclable!) clamshells. These two boxes were then packed inside the actual shipping box. Good job Amazon! Properly protective and recylcable packaging. One thing to be aware of for checking out these drives for errors. I personally use Spinrite 6 for checking drive surfaces. Once you put these drives in an array, Spinrite 6 will not check them. I believe you can unplug the SATA cable for each drive and check it individually, but I have not verified this. What you CANNOT do is to use the RAID configuration utility to remove the drives from the array, check them for errors, and them return them to the array. If you do this, the RAID configuration utility will reformat them when putting them into the array.
I bought this product after reading many reviews of both the Western Digital product line and many others. Thus far I am happy to report that the drive meets all expectations, delivering the full performance that my RAID array was advertised to deliver. The packaging was sensible, the drive easily unpacked and installed, so no complaints on that front. My only regret, which is not the fault of the drive, is that I probably should have selected the higher capacity drives.
I am VERY pleased with these hard drives. Not falling out of the RAID 5 configuration as my old drives did. I do have to report the terrible shipping method that Amazon used to ship these hard drives to me. All the hard drives in my order were put into 1 box in their original manufacture boxes, but without any packaging or protection to keep these hard drives safe in transit. I do not plan to buy hard drives from Amazon in the future because of this, because they do not take the necessary steps to protect delicate products such as my instance.
I have two of these in a RAID 1 configuration and when one failed, I had no difficulty whatsoever with getting a replacement from westerndigital.I have seen some comments about why RE class. From the WD website:Upgrading from Blue to Black gets youDual processor, dual actuator, bigger cache, StableTrac and 5 Year Ltd WarrantyIn addition to the above, upgrading from Black to RE gets youRAFF (for high vibration environments), IntelliSeek, Multi-axis shock sensor, RAID-specific time-limited error recovery (TLER), Third generation dynamic fly height for improved reliability, and a stated MTBF of 1.2 million hours at 100% duty cycle (MTBF is never mentioned for the "desktop" line)Over the past 20+ years I have had far too many hard drives fail and decided that a little extra money was worth the lowered probability of having to deal with it.
Aside from what many would think, these drives are relatively quiet and the reliability is spectacular. You get what you pay for in these drives. Have a pair in a raid configuration for a year of nearly continual use and never had a problem. All drives should be as good.
