I bought this hard drive to replace one that died on me. It installs quickly, and stores like a champ. I haven't noticed any difference in loading times in video games between this Hard Drive and the Raptor equivelant. 320GB is more than enough space for the average user. Formatt time was about 30 minutes.I don't use RAID, so I couldn't tell you if this HD is any good for that....Note: Vista 64 will only utilize 298GB.

I bought this for as a replacement for my boss' computer. I plugged it in and after a few hours of installation and configuration, the computer was ready for a break in.

There's not a lot to say on the whole. I've used Western Digital hard drives for YEARS and had pretty reliable drives on the whole. This one has been extremely quiet and I like having the extra space for some video's. It replaces a former setup of dual 80gb WD EIDE drives and I like this setup much better and it really opened up the inside of the case for airflow and reduced heat by getting an extra drive out as well as the last of the EIDE cables.

Doesn't get much easier than this. Came with right cables, hardware. Installation complete in minutes. VERY quiet and fast. Defintely a keeper!

Simple installation and had no jumper settings to mess with. Had this thing up and running within 10 minuites! I purchased this to replace a Sumsung 160GB HD which would have cost more. Double the storage space at a lower price. Can't complain!

I was suprised to find that the included SATA cable would not workwith my Dell Dimension E521 computer. Basically, there was this bigplastic thing on the end of the cable that plugged into the drivethat was too big for the enclosure. By the third "supervisor" on thehelp line, I finally returned from India to the US and learned whatwas going on. Western Digital had decided that the sata connectorspec was not physically robust enough -- apparently some had brokenand so they had (over-)engineered this monstrosity. Naturally, itwas my fault that it would not work with my computer. My optionsappeared to be to return the drive or buy a "normal" sata cable. Ichose instead to snip off the offending plastic with some wire cutters.Now the drive works great -- I only can't find the plastic piece sinceit flew across the room and under some furniture in the process.

This hard drive has been a life saver for all of my novels and photography. I had to change over from a EIDE with adapters yet it was worth all of the time and effort for insuring a safe and reliable source to store all of my valued and vital information.

I'm no IT expert, though I've certainly had a few computers open over the years. I wasn't looking forward to changing a storage drive that was failing, but had no choice. After receiving the WD Caviar SATA drive, I had it installed and in use within a half hour, migrating files and storing new ones. There hasn't been a single hiccup and the drive operates flawlessly.This would be an excellent choice for a primary or replacement drive, and the deal couldn't be beat from JR Computers in New York. Fast shipping.

These are excellent hard drives. I'm a big fan of Western Digital so I guess I'm biased... However, for the price - this drive is a definite must for a poor college student who just needs a few extra gigs for music/pictures. I put this into my new Dell Inspiron 530 computer (which also has a WD 320GB Caviar drive as the C:\ drive). I upgraded from an old IDE 5400 rpm drive so all I can say is that these things are insanely fast compared to my old computer.Yes, this drive isn't the quietest modern drive out there as I can hear it clicking and searching but it doesn't seem to run as hot as some other drives I've seen. I haven't had a problem with the drive sitting for 5-10 seconds when I open up Windows Explorer either. That would be my only complaint about this drive.I recommend this drive to my IT friends/non IT friends who don't need 1-2Tarabytes of hard drive space.

I have buyed this hd in January, 320 Gb, Sata 2 and being Western Digital have captivated me, it was irresistible. Until now, it is totally silence and I get data transfers about 17 - 18 Mb/s. I have formatted it like 6 or 7 times, and have all my files (games isos, mp3, movies, etc) and still have space for duplicates!I have installed it in Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.04 so I have two partitions, and other separately for all my files, so it us a bunch of space!The only bad thing is that it costed to me around 80$, now it's like a gift! xD

This was easy to install in my icy dock enclosure I bought to go with this and the usb connection is automatically detected, I used windows to format the hardrive instead of using their software and it works great. I haven't had any problems yet.

This drive is a replacement for a Seagate. The old one died after 3 months of use...it began having errors after the first month. This WD drive has had ZERO problems so far! It seems to have a faster response time and it is much quieter than any of my old drives.

I have always used WD Caviar hard drives in all of the computers I build and have never had any fail. This is another top of the line performer. A great SATA drive with lots of space that will keep you happy for a long time. There is no risk in purchasing this drive. They always work flawlessly and last. Great Price too.

The 320 GB hard drive worked as expected. For the price, it was a good deal. I ran out of space on my C:\ drive. I transferred everything except program files to the new drive.

I am happy with this Hard Drive, installed it and it works.The Data Life Guard Tools CD is very useful, faster at formatting than using windows tools.Abeit the CD program can take a minute before you see activity, but it works.No complaints.

This isn't the first Western Digital hard drive that I've used and there's a reason I use them so consistantly. I have yet to have any issues with any of them. Simple installation, speedy delivery, everything I expected from it.
