This product arrived on time; actually ahead of the scheduled window for delivery. It was in perfect condition. I am using it as a backup drive via a USB-to-PATA cable. Tested it twice and found no bad sectors. Price was very reasonable, better than expected. Highly recommend this dealer, based on my experience.

going on 2 years, I installed it as a replacement to refresh my computer, along with a fresh install of windows. simple install, check the jumper location, plug it in, turn on computer and install windows disc in cd rom and wait. easy as pie.

My grandson chose this for me and installed it. It replaces an old 40GB hard drive. Now my computer is running fast again! I couldn't be happier.

I had an 80 Gig WD drive which I had partitioned into 4 partitions. 15, 20, 20, and 20. I ran out of room on my C partition (15 Gig running XP). I needed to fix that and decided to increase my drive to 320 Gig in the process. I was able to set new partitions and increase the size of the C drive using WD cloning S/W. I got an exact clone of the 80 Gig C drive to the 320 Gig C drive and it worked perfectly and faster also. The WD S/W is limited to WD drives only. I plan to repartition the old 80 Gig drive as a ghost for the 320 Gig C partition. Will try to use Clonzilla and not Norton Ghost for this procedure (WD S/W should work also). I was pleased with the $59 price for the 320 Gig and the fast delivery from Amazon.

This purchase replaced a venerable six-year-old 40GB Seagate hard drive that was beginning to misbehave in an HP desktop at my small office, where I am unofficially head of IT. While 40GB seemed like a lot of capacity then, even the most inexpensive drives today have at least double the storage, and this inexpensive Western Digital (WD) drive packs a whopping 320GB, far more than I will need until this computer retires, and I move the drive to its successor.Since this purchase was for business, low cost was important, but I don't want to lose sleep about reliability. Although other drives have good quality reputations, WD and Seagate have been the most trouble-free in my experience. I prefer the WD Caviar series because they are a good value per GB, run cool, and I have never had one fail.I needed the drive overnight, and it was unfortunately after the cutoff time for all of the other online retailers my firm usually uses; however, I was able to place the order with Amazon with ten minutes to spare, and despite the express shipping cost of 40%(!) of the unit price, Amazon delivered, as usual.

I was replacing a HD for a neighbor, a six year old Gateway. The new Hd didn't exactly fit into the Gateway as the old one was in a slot and held there by moving a lever to tighten into place. The new one was not the same size as was indicated in the ad there fore I had to do a little modification on the box to get it to stay in place.Mechanically wise the Western Digital WD3000JBRTL Caviar 320 GB worked just fine plugged it in and we were off to the races faster than the one I replaced and much quieter. This should allow the user several more years out of the old Gateway which is in the basement and used by his two boys for games and homework.

Great hard drive. Put this in an order IDE PC and it works just like it is supposed to. Large storage without having to buy a SATA PC or trying to convert my older PC to SATA. You do have to remeber if you are loading Windows XP that you will have to start with XP SP2 so you will get the use of the entire drive. Starting with any other verision of XP will limit you to less then half the drive.I had to slip stream SP2 into a an original copy of XP that came with my PC. Not hard to do. If you don't know how just goggle slip stream XP2.

I've been using Western Digital hard drives almost exclusivly for 15 years now. I have never had one fail one me. Lucky or just very good drives. That's not to say that if the drive is abused or over heated that it wouldn't fail. There's not a lot of drive brands to choose from. The two leading brands are both very good. But Of the 2 best, I think Western Digital has an edge.

This is for my second drive for my tower. The original drive is a Western that has lasted so far for 10 years now. I bought a non Western drive for a second hard drive about 3 years ago which died without warning recently that made me lose a whole lot of stuff. Never again, go with what works. You get what you pay for.

haven't receive the item in a month, already asked to return the item online since I can't wait any more. Terrible service on product shipping. Never have this kind of problem with Amazon before.

I've been using crappy hard drives for years now until I felt that enough was enough, so I invested in this one. I've had it on my PC for a few weeks now and so far I"m very pleased with it. It's extremely quiet and my operating system installed on it with relative ease. Expecting years of service with this one.

This is an excellent drive. It is fast, reliable and quiet. And I mean really quiet. I used it to replace a 60gb drive that was annoying my wife because it was continually chug-chugging while she was at the computer. So I took a disk image, swapped in this drive, restored the image to it and was done in less than a half hour. And did I mention that it was really quiet? Well, so's my wife.

I have a hp 551w pavilion that is over 7 years old and the 33gig drive was just filling up too fast now that I put lots of video on it. No problem installing this drive as a secondary drive and I copied everything from my original drive to a partition I made on this drive. The data lifeguard tools works great which comes with the drive. The drive came with screws and jumpers but no ide cable as stated in description. This is the 1st new hard drive I've purchased and the drive was easy to install and suprisingly quite compared to some maxtor 20 gig drives from 2000 which I have had hooked up as secondary drives in the past. My system don't seem any louder than it was before. The drive just has a faint buzz and that is it. Hardly noticable. For $59 and free shipping this can't be beat in my opinion.

I bought this as a gift for my son and to date he's very satisfied with it over all. The 320gigs was perfect for his on-line game playing. I liked the price as well as the prompt delivery. It was exactly what I was looking for.

This hd is working just fine... I've had drives fail on me before but this one is working right out of the box.No guarantees with hd's so always back up your data.

Very low price for such high quality. Have several for backup redundancy. When computer "craps out", and they all do, just substitute working drive for the defective drive. Then I rejuvenate defective drive, if possible, and put it on standby for next "crap out."I figure these drives are cheaper than having to take your computer to a repair place and pay $50 an hour to get computer going again.

I replaced my 40 gig C: drive using the software that came with the drive. I just pulled my back-up drive, installed the new drive as a slave, used the supplied software to make the new drive the boot drive (took about 90 minutes to copy everything), installed the new drive in the C: drive position, replaced my back-up drive, and was done. All very easy.

Although this works well, I followed the directions while installing it and still came up with the same error. Then after it was installed and I went to format the drive, it had issues accepting the Operating System. I still get a disk read error when I start up and have to go to my bios in order to access my actual account. Otherwise this is quiet, and runs well.

Had no problem installing - came with all the parts that I needed, although if you are installing into a computer that you are building yourself, you will need an IDE cable.

I purchased this HDD to salvage my wife's 5-year old Dell. Easy to install, using the WD set up software, the drive is quite and fast compared to the 80GB 5400 RPM Maxtor that took a dump on me. Of course wasn't crazy about spending 3-days reinstalling all the software and settings. Highly recommended and a great value from Amazon; Amazon Rocks!
