Was OE in Vostro 1520 Failed 10 mos into use. Owner reported no earlier prob but noted slow boot up on occasion. Failure was total and catastrophic with no ability to scavenge files although drive will initially spin up, not recognized on USB interface and note more than expected vibration on spin up. Dell replacing drive without question c/w orig W7 OS installed. Will re-partition after installation as have had more success scavenging files off 'dead' HDD when they have multiple partitions. Would be interesting to know what caused failure and if event viewer had warned of pending failure. Not my unit, but a lesson repeated B/U YOUR DATA!

I bought this drive to replace the OEM one in my Dell Latitude D630. It went in easy, is fast, and has been reliable for the year + that I've had it in my machine.I recommend this drive or others from the "Western Digital Scorpio Black" line for their speed and reliability.

Performance has been excellent and was a decent price. I installed it in our Dell Inspiron 1525 as a replacement for the OEM hard drive which died. It's noticibly faster than the OEM drive even though it's of the same size and rpm - both running with Windows 7 home premium. I feel it's worth paying a little more for the drop sensor feature, which I highly value for preventing this one from dying prematurely like our previous one.

I bought this due to the drop sensor feature. This is a feature that is hard to test but sounds like it would be useful. This drive replaced a dead one in a friend's laptop and has worked perfectly. There's no issues of excessive heat or noise that I could discern.

It works properly after months of usage. Sometimes it is not as quiet as I would like. It makes a weird sound from time to time. Even though that, I think this hard drive is one of the best you could find at present.

I put this in an aging Dell E1505 with a core solo.Performance of the laptop did increase with the faster hard drive.When you look for a new hard drive, look for speed combine with durability.This one's a winner.

This Western Digital went into my Dell laptop without any problems. My computer is now faster since this drive is high speed. I used to have a 80 GB drive, this 250 GB is much better.

Hi All.I have a Lenovo - (IBM) Thinkpad W500 and wanted to get another drive so that I could load Windows 7 Beta on it to test...without having to destroy my good ole Vista x64 Image.This drive caught my interest...1 because I didnt really need anything larger, and 2 because its NOT a Seagate. I have heard the disasters surrounding Seagate as of late and thus WD gets high marks for Quality in my book.The drive setup perfect, works quietly, although sometimes makes a rather loud noise when shutting the laptop down and the heads are disengaging. I dont see it as a problem...its just the way it is.This is a great drive as are most other WD drives. The speed is awesome on a laptop and the noise is low.PS. I have seen a 320gb drive for around the same price on Amazon..it is a WD @7200rpm....so do your shopping.

I replaced the drives in a Dell D620 and an older Sony Vaio with this model. Both computers were faster but noticeably hotter. The Sony's fan would run on high speed almost constantly. The Dell's fan would turn on during sustained data transfers. Reasonably priced for the capacity and speed.

I definitely found a difference in my laptop's performance by replacing the 160gb/5400rpm with this drive. However, the laptop's fan now works non-stop to keep it cool as the temperature rose by a couple of degrees. Other than this issue, it's a great drive overall.

The purchase/processing/shipping Etc. was all great. Hard Drive came working. So far it functions perfectly. We'll see how long it'll last. From personal experience w/Western Digital Had 3 HD's for 6 Yrs decent use all work fine..
