years ago and its still working ! Never had any issues minus one time and that was a PlayStation 3 problem. Been running for almost 7 years since I got the system.

I was really excited to recieve my hard drive, but unfortunately it was broken before I could try to configure it. I sent it back at no cost and recieve all my money(thanks Amazon). Maybe I was the lucky one but I won't order something that delicate online again.

This product is what I call, Swicked! It is all you need to upgrade your PS3. JUST the perfect amount of space and even better, it's still kicking strong! I've had this for about three years and it has NOT caused a single problem. It's quiet, its compatible, and its all you need to kick you Note book, or PS3 to a new level of perfection.

Like everyone else I bought this to replace the 60 gig hard drive in my ps3. Installation is easy and quick. Much cheaper than buying a new ps3 slim. Use CAUTION when removing the 4 screws on the bracket that holds the hard drive in place. They strip easly. I striped two screws and had to use a metal file to carve a straight line into the screws so I could use a flat head screwdriver to get the screws out.I used the back up utility to transfer my data to the new hard drive.( PNY 8GB usb flash drive) In less than 10 you can be up and running. Note I did lose my ps1 and ps2 data in the transfer.

I, like many others here, bought this HD to replace the tiny 60gb one that came with my PS3, since I was fed up with scrambling to make space for DLC. I am 100% satisfied. This is a great buy if you're just looking to expand your PS3's capacity at a fraction of the price of buying an entirely new PS3--especially if you got one of the smaller ones at launch that has full PS2 and PS1 backward compatibility, and you don't want to buy a newer larger one that lacks that feature. Dooo iiiiiiiiiit.

A very capable drive that's been a success so far. I upgraded my Playstation 3 from 40 gigs to 250 gigs (232 after everything was formatted) so as to provide more room for game data and videos without the worry of running out of room. The only big concerns in changing a PS3's hard drive is being careful with the screws (they're in there tight and have been known to strip, so press down on them hard while unscrewing), saving game save files and whatnot ahead of time (something as small as a USB flash drive will do), and having the PS3 system software (which can be downloaded off the PS3's web site to a USB flash drive as well) available to use in the formatting process. The 2.5 inch size of the disc is the norm here; fits perfectly.So with just a little bit of simple handiwork and no concern for aesthetics, you can buy this drive for 1/5 the price of the new PS3 Slim and in turn get more memory than Slim's own 120-gig drive.

I place an order for this product, then a few days later received an e-mail stating my order was canceled. There was NO reason given and worse ....there is no contact information at all....anywhere to get a hold of Amazon. I am so frustrated, I am going to reconsider buying from them again.

I bought this drive because of all of the positive reviews it received for upgrading a PS3. Just like the others, it was a snap to install and nets out with 205 GB of free space after formatting.A couple of pointers - make sure you download the latest firmware to a flash drive from the Playstation website, you need it for the drive to install. Also, I planned on moving my game save data to a flash drive, but Rockband would not let me copy the data. I used the system backup tool by backing up to an 8 GB flash drive and then a system restore once the new drive was in and it restored everything to exactly how it was on my 40GB drive, including the wifi connection, wallpaper and my Rockband saved data.Go ahead and buy this, best $58 I have spent in a long time.

Any BEVS series HDD over 120gb will work w/ the xbox 360. It's been working fine for over a month now. I'm hoping when MS increases the capacity of HDDs on 360 that I'll be able to use the rest of the HDD space.

I put this into my laptop when my last hard drive failed. Installation was easy, and went off w/o a hitch. I've had it for a couple months and haven't had any further failures. The capacity is really good for the price. The only thing I don't like about it is that it gets really hot. Like, it rivals how hot the CPU gets. I would never put this laptop on my lap anymore.

It had to happen - on a trip, and the trouble-prone standard Seagate drive in my black Macbook just...died after 2 years of moderate use. Tried to revive it to no avail, so sought a replacement. Searched carefully (didn't want to lose another HD) and found a great price on the well-reviewed Scorpio 250 drive. Installed it a month ago, reloaded software, and I'm up and running again. Some specific notes:-- The Scorpio seems peppier than the 80MB Seagate it replaced - not by much, but enough so I notice.-- Installation is easy, but take note: the Macbook's drive bay is lined with rubber guide strips loosely glued to either side of the bay. When I removed my old drive, I must have loosened one of the strips, so when I tried to install the Scorpio, it inexplicably would not slide all the way in. Neede a flashlight to see that one of the rubber guides had fallen onto the bottom of the drive bay and blocked the drive's access to the contacts. Some patience and a small screwdriver and flashlight were necessary to unfold the piece of rubber and re-stick it to the side of the drive bay. So take care when removing the Macbook drive so as to not detach those rubber guide rails!-- I took the precaution of ordering another Scorpio to preemptively replace the drive in my second MacBook.So far so good with the Scorpio - I recommend it highly.

I'm the family geek so I get tech support calls from my in-laws and I'm glad to help. The last call I got was from my mother-in-law and her year old Dell laptop was booting intermittently. We decided the best thing was to get a new hard drive.I was dreading spending the time to re-install all her programs from scratch so I decided to get the Thermaltake BlacX eSATA Hard Drive USB Docking Station along with the new drive and try cloning the existing drive.Luckily the old drive ran long enough to run Acronis True Image on it and the docking station worked great for this purpose. I was doing the procedure over USB and it was fine.I plugged the new drive into the laptop and you couldn't tell the difference, except there was more drive space. (She had a 160GB drive before).Out of the box experience was good and it's been running for a month or so with no trouble.Recommended

Western Digital WD2500BEVS Scorpio 250 GB 2.5-inch SATA Hard DriveThis is an excellent hard drive and perfect for many applications. It can be installed in many laptop computers, some desktop computers with motherboards accepting SATA connections, and PS3 Sony Playstation computer Game Consoles. It is one of the largest that I know will work in the PS3, because I installed it without a hitch in my PS3. It as especially easy to install in under 3 minutes. NOW that is easy! My upgrade was on the 60Gb hard drive PS3 system with no problems. I could only find an upgrade to 120 GB hard drive information, so I set off on a Mission to determine just how large a drive I could install in my PS3. I determined that the criteria for selecting my WD-250 was based on the information at the bottom of this review. Also, I was also able to install an additional OS on the PS3 with the upgrade of the Scorpio WD hard drive by selecting a Linux OS. Now, thats way to kewl ! I can sit there and type away using it just like a laptop with my wireless keyboard. The hard dirve works great in the PS3. To save yourself time make sure to obtain the proper screw driver. A tiny philips screw driver may work, however the cross hair type is what should be used.Assuming you do not have problems with removing the screws swapping out the hard drive takes only five minutes and is very easy. Backing up your data will take 20 to 30 minutes depedning on the size of your original hard drive. It will take just as long to restore the data back to the new hard drive. The PS3 will walk you thru the process.If you strp one of the screws by using an improper screw driver expect to spend an extra hour to install.

I haven't had this hard drive long, but I have always had good luck with Western Digital. I've never had one of their drives fail on me. When I installed this drive, I was surprised at how much quieter it was than the Hitachi drive that it was replacing. The Hitachi drive failed after just over 2 years of use. It was easy to install and I have no complaints as of yet.

Great product! Was shipped quickly, I had no problems. I used this to switch out for my PS3 hard drive which was very easy to do. One thing I think might cause problems is if you already have data saved on your PS3 and you plan to transfer it you might lose some of the items you have downloaded, such as add-on for games. Make sure you have proof that you have bought the things you have or else you might lose them.

I bought this to replace the hard drive in my daughters new Gateway laptop (she dropped it!)It arrived on time and was in bulk packaging which I expected. It was a doddle (ie very easy) to install, I removed the old one & installed the new in less than 5 minutes!I then reinstalled all softeware onto it and it has worked perfect ever since.This is an excellent hard drive for the price, don't be put off by the plain bulk packaging. I absolutely recommend it!

Awesome! Perfect for the PS3. But it should be noted that you have to get on Sony's website and down load the update version onto a cd-rom unless you have a usb with the backed up save data on it. It was a little hard to figure out how to update at first, but sony's home website has all the details. Enjoy!!

I purchased this to replace a Dell Hard Drive, and this works perfectly. The drive does not make any noise as someone else had said, there is no excessive heat (that I can tell of atleast), and the overall performance is good.This is a 5400rpm drive, which is standard for most laptops. No lag times, or hour glasses when moving files, and on larger files (100MB+) the wait time is fairly decent.This only downside that I can find to this dirve, is it does not come in any retail packaging, just a brown box, bubble wrap, and an anti-stat bag. This is not a problem, to me atleast, because the drive itself is all I am looking at. Not to mention the huge discount buying OEM/direct provides. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I originally upgraded a Toshiba Satellite with this drive. It seemed to work fine, but runs very hot and very loud. It was so loud I decided to swap it out for a Toshiba drive and use it just for backup. That's when I found that in three weeks this drive had already developed significant sector errors (normal cloning software failed). This probably also explains why the number of times I had to do multiple start-ups to get windows running seemed to have increased on this pc. In checking my files I had to recover quite a few from my backups. Now I am suspicious of it even as a backup. I would recommend the Toshiba drive instead. It runs cooler, quieter, and seems to create less errors.

I bought this to replace my 40GB drive in my PS3. The physical install went flawlessly. However, I did have to download the latest system on my PC and then install it on my PS3 before it could reformat the drive. This shouldn't of happened and I may have down something wrong. In any case this was no fault of the drive itself and once the latest system was installed everything went fine. I've been using it about a month now and so far so good. The extra space can't be beat.

Great product for the price! But may not be used as an external harddrive via the USB port. Be forwarned. Unlike the older IDE harddrives (now called PATA), this SATA harddrive may only be low-level formatted by directly mounting it into your laptop as a primary drive. And even after being partitioned and formatted (2nd level), it can not be converted as an external USB harddrive. I'm not sure if this was designed to be so by Western Digital (WD) for security purposes. But then WD should have warned potential buyers about the facts of its new SATA drives. I was using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I also tried it in Windows XP Media Center/Professional.

I bought this to upgrade my 40gb ps3 and it was very easy to do. This hdd doesn't run as hot as my original from sony, which is nice. Also this hdd is very quiet can barley hear it writing. I would recommend this to anyone upgrading their ps3.

I got this hard drive for my satellite A205 because I needed more room for my media files. This hard drive was easy to install, its faster than the one I had before, and quieter. Vista gave it an Index score of 5.1 for performance. Great buy at a great price, i highly recommend it.

I bought this disk to use with a Sabrent USB-DSC5 Serial ATA or IDE 2.5-/3.5-Inch to USB 2.0 Cable Converter Adapter with Power Supply that I have. But could not use with the power supply of this cable. I think that power supply is not capable of supply enough power to the disk. But, I install this disk in my laptop and I'm using the factory hdd of my laptop with the cable.The Scorpio qualify better in windows vista. So I'm satisfied with this.

I really don't have too much to say about this. It's a hard drive. It is very quiet in my PS3 and runs cooler than the 20gb that came with it originally. The extra space is very nice if you use your PS3 as a media center(Music, Videos, Pictures). For the price you can't beat this drive.

I ordered two of these from Amazon (two separate orders, different dates). The first time I got the wrong drive and had to return and replace. When I finally got the drive I installed it into my HP dv9000z (got the caddy off another site) and it has been working great.More recently, my HP's primary drive (a Seagate Momentus) failed. Probably due to a bad knock while doing a virus scan. So I decided to order up another one of these. Unfortunately I received an empty box... Amazon has refunded me the money, but I still want the drive. I'll probably wait a while again (I really don't like having only one drive in my laptop) before trying again, or going for the 320GB model.The drive is quiet and fast for a 5400rpm 2.5 incher. It is more quiet than the seagate I had, and it runs cooler. A good buy...if you manage to get it.Through both scenarios Amazon was quick to resolve the issue. I only hope they work through the problems so that when I order another Scorpio I get it the first time around. Maybe some sort of packing verification system would help...I'd pay for that kind of service.The four stars is a product/delivery combo rating. Product alone, I would give it a five star.

I wanted to downgrade from Vista without loosing my Vista, so a replaced the drive in my Sony laptop with this one and built the machine from scratch with WindowsXP using the manufacturer's drivers. This drive met the heat, power and speed requirements of the original drive with about twice the storage. The drive has been working flawlessly.

I recieved my WD Scorpio drive about a month ago. The installation in my MacBook was relatively painless (except for the fact that I needed a Torx screwdriver, thus requiring a trip to the hardware store). So far, the drive has performed quietly and quickly. So far, so good.

I got the 40gb Playstation 3 and wanted a bigger hard drive for all of my videos. Very easy installation and my PS3 runs as good and quiet as it did before. It only takes about 15 mins to install and more I have 210 more GBs of space.

I bought this hard drive to match my existing Gateway P6831FX laptop's internal hard drive for a RAID array.Matching the internal drive was of primary importance; performance was secondary. It's only a 5200 RPM drive, not a 7400 RPM drive after all. But it runs quietly and at a relatively low-temperature for a RAID drive member, and definitely improves overall hard disk performance by adding RAID.Best: Quiet, cool, decent performanceWorst: Low on total GB

I bought this to upgrade my Macbook's HDD from 80GB to 250GB. The replacement process was quite easy and this drive works fine (so far - I've had it for about a month). it seems like a good value for the amount of storage you get, it's working fine and seems quite fast, and so overall I'm happy with it.

My wife's dual-core macbook came with a 60GB Hard Drive... and as you can imagine, it didnt take long to fill it up. 5 minutes after the new 250GB drive showed up, I was re-installing Mac OS X and restoring my files. Drive seems great!

The product arrived in a timely manner, and installation was very simple. I was replacing the small (80 gb) OEM hard drive in my Gateway laptop with this unit. Wishing to avoid all of the bloatware which came on the PC out of the box, I elected to do a clean installation of VISTA, which went very well. The hard drive seems a bit faster than the original, likely due to higher data density, since the drive speeds are about the same.

I purchased this drive as an upgrade for my 40GB PlayStation 3. The upgrade went smoothly, and the PS3 had no trouble recognizing the drive.When it is just spinning or idling, this drive is extremely quiet. When the drive seeks (reads/writes), you can just hear it. For most people this shouldn't be a problem, but if you demand absolute silence, you may want to look at a smaller drive.

I wanted to have more available space in my computer, so I decided to buy aWestern Digital Disk (250 Gb). I think this is an excellent disk, I had no problems to install it, it was easy and It's a good price. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 9400. I recomend you buy this type of disk.Good luck, Salvador
