So, how did they fail?
They failed entirely at noise cancellation. They failed entirely at sound quality. They failed entirely at gaming. When I contacted the company, asking for better foam or something to cancel the noise, they told me that "there needs to be a 'visible' defect in order for them to help. I tried several tiers of customer service, but found myself with one option- return them entirely. Lastly, and I have bought many products from them, their staff is a revolving door, now owned by Roland. Please be warned.

Love the Sound
This full rich sound is what I crave. And with its copper touches its so pretty (wish they had done a white copper version though). I went through Senn, Shure, Marshall and Bose before landing happily on these. Did not like the cost but it is what it is.
BASS, plenty. I had to reduce my EQ's low setting else I'd have bad headaches within 2 tunes.
TREBLE, from tenor/soprano voices and Meyer's Fender Strat and flutes, sharp and crisp like I love them.
The reasons for knocking off a star, though I hate to are:
■■ Worst buttons on any headset ever in my 40 years of buying headsets! I mean drugstore $14 ones have better. These are hard plastic. Located badly at the top of the ear cup. I have to take the set off to get at the multi function center button. And there's no rewind/ffwd! At $350, are they kidding me? Solid gold accessiries available for 600 and buttons feel like they are from a cheap toy. The kind in the trash by Dec 26. AWWWFUL VModa.
■■ Too much tension. Hurts the jaw and ear.
■■ No Bluetooth during charging. No audble batt check feature until a blast of notes when unit is nearly out of power.
The matte case shows oil stains. So if you have on moisturizer you'll have to wipe it off.
If you need noise cancelling these have little.

Broke twice on me
I bought these headphones technically once and got a gift from assurion when they broke. So I bought them again with said gift card. That being said ...
I owned them for a little over a year. Sound is great build quality is great. . However, the Bluetooth broke so my v-moda became wired only. My suspicion was It seem to break when I charge the headphones while listening to music when I had the charger cord in and the aux cord in..
So I sent them in to assurion and they sent a gift card back because they couldn't fix them . I bought the same pair and they broke again exactly the same way after 3 weeks of arrival. So anybody that buys these be careful charging and listening to them at the same time. I returned the headphones and bought the Sony mh-1000mx3 which I would prefer the sonys over the v-moda given the price and the sound quality and the Sony has amazing noise canceling.
I was kinda sad that I left v-moda product but it just didn't make sense to continue with their products after two related incidents

Very comfy. Sound great wired, ok on Bluetooth.
Want good headphone reviews, head over to head-fi.org. I'll summarize. These are very comfortable headphones, more comfortable with the V-Moda XL cushions. They sound great wired, on Bluetooth the bass falls off a bit - this isn't because of Bluetooth per se, I believe it is because the on board amplifier is slightly underpowered. Because of this, if you don't want the rose gold color, I would recommend saving money and getting the non- Codex Edition, no sense in paying more for better codecs if the amplifier can't bring out the difference. A good side effect of that is great battery life >20 hrs. They don't allow in as much ambient sound as prior versions of the V-MODA Crossfade line - not enough to have a polite conversation with them on, but too much for a plane flight.

Bought used from Amazon
So Amazon doesn't check if anything works because I bought these v-modas crossfades 2 codex edition and I was super excited,but as soon as I tried them on it seemed like all sound was leaning towards the left earcup. So I cranked the volume up a bit and I noticed that the right was being more quiet and I could also tell that it was blown out. So I'm just saying buying used sometimes is a waste of time. Amazon should check their used electronics for issues before selling them.

Not what I expected from a $300 set of headphones
These headphones were a complete disappointment. They failed my expectation at every turn for a $300 set of headphones. The blue-tooth comparability with my windows 10 computer was abysmal, not only did I have a terribly difficult time even getting the headphones to connect properly with my computer, but after hours of messing with settings the headphone sound quality for gaming was absolutely pathetic. The headphones do not function for gaming as advertised by any modern standard, as they must be used in headset mode which disables stereo surround sound functionality. To add to this heartbreaking drawback, the quality of the microphone for computer use and with use on my cellphone was un-acceptable. Every single person I spoke with while using these headphones both on PC and my phone (samsung galaxy S9) were unable to clearly hear me over blue-tooth connection or the included wired microphone regardless of my distance to the microphone input. Even in headphone mode listening to music, both with blue-tooth connection and wired connection, the sound quality was average at best. The noise canceling properties advertised are greatly exaggerated, to the point where I wonder why they bother mentioning any noise canceling attributes at all. I write this with a heavy heart because I loved the first version of these headphones. The original crossfades were an absolute marvel and the second version of them does not even approach the quality or consistency that I expected out of these. Save yourself the hassle, if you intend to do any voice communication with these headphones your money is better spent elsewhere.

Beautiful, High sound quality, Build like a tank
Love it. I use it anywhere : Street&Home(Wireless), Voice Recording(Wired), Gaming(with my Lovely BoomProMic). This thing just Beautiful, and sound quality was good enough, you don't really need other things to push this headphone, it just have wonderful sound quality at this price point, (Satisfaying Treble, clean deep Bass and sound stage just better than so many headphones on the market)
