Nice to have this much storage in a portable SSD. I use this for my Aperture libraries. My wife and I have separate MacBooks and want to use the same library. As Apple has designed Aperture and iPhoto to not be able to share libraries between multiple computers, I find this is a nice solution. Accessing the libraries via USB 3.0 is very fast and since it is a SSD and has a rugged shock absorbent casing, I'm not too worried about moving the drive back and forth between Macs. Great product!

Just received the drive, but unlike what the manual (on line) describes and unlike what others have written here, the cable that came with the drive is not a split dual cable (USB 2 and USB 3) but a single USB 3.0 cable (USB 3 cables and connections are blue on the inside of the plug while USB 2 are black). Connected to a USB 2 (not 3) connection on my laptop, it transferred an 8.03 GB file to the SSD in 3 min and 30 seconds. I have not done anything yet with the drive because I am waiting for the 35mm EC card which will connect to my laptop and "create" two USB 3.0 plugs. I will add to my review at that point. I only have connected this drive to a USB 2.0, the light came up and the laptop recognized it, that's about it. Reading the online manual found here:[...]

The unit is small. It comes with 2 usb cables as noted by other reviewers, one thick, one slim. The two are connected.The onliune manual notes the two cables are needed for older usb ports that did not provide enough power. Since my computers are recent, less than 3 years old, I have used the SSD it in my desktop (Lenovo Thinkstation) and in my laptop (VAIO Z) with one cable only (the thick one), and the drive works flawlessly so far. There is a light around the "backup" button that turns brown if you are using usb 2, and blue when I connect to usb 3.0. The only issue for me is that the cable is bulky, but so far the ssd works very well.

I bought this from an airport electronics shop about six month ago, and it's still just as fast. I use it mainly for videos and games that used to have my comp working overtime and putting off heat, but with the ssd it runs quietly, and I can still use other programs at the same time without much lag. It's extremely light compared to other hard drives I've had, only complaint is the thick, uncompliant cord it comes with.

Short answer: it's on it's way back.Longer Answer: loaded 40gb of data on it monday. used it last night for 2 hours. this morning plugged it in and got a message that it had to be formatted before it could be used. it's dead.for some reason, i did a volume backup of it before i shut it down. glad i did.don't know what would be connsidered typical, but Amazon declined to replace it - refund was the only option available on the return.

Works as advertised, small compact and holds files exactly what I was hoping for. The plastic grey and yellow/orange case cannot be removed but that's not a bad thing.

I am using this to run a couple of development oriented virtual machines and it works great - they boot up and run much better than on my previous E-SATA drives.I will never be going back to a non SSD drive for this purpose. Only negative is that it does require 2 USB ports to run with full power according to the instructions. It runs with only one, but I don't believe it runs at full speed.

I liked so well I ordered a second one. Unlike the other review, mine does not require a second USB for power. Powered by the bus. Based on my experiencence, I recommend this drive.

requires 2 usb connectors at all times (supplied cord branches into 2 usb connectors). one for the computer connection and one for a power supply. Makes no sense to have a portable drive requiring a separate power supply. get a sata ssd drive and put it in a 3.0 usb case. works great without an extra power supply
