I was highly skeptical, but it did work. I use it with D-Link products in a home that has twists and turns around walls. It is placed in mostly clear view to the router, and successfully boosts the signal to two rooms that previously weren't getting service much at all.Zero complaints. Will absolutely improve your reception if your problem is like mine, which is twists and turns in the floorplan of the house. That being said, the total distance covered isn't huge, but what previously didn't work now works like it is supposed to.

I read that this router was a best seller in China so I gave it a try and sure enough performed according to specs.It fits in very well with the environment and the price ain't bad either. I will recommend this product to anyone requiring an upgrade to their system

I have 2 of these pointed at each other with a distance of about .5 miles to bridge my internet connection between my shop and house and they work great. Easy setup. I love the POE so I only run one cable to each device. I have tried many wireless routers with increased dBi antennas and got nowhere near the distance as I can with these. Great product at a great price.

Bought this for another person who is not technical at all. This router seemed to be the easiest to set up and it was. When the product arrived, on time, it was set up quickly with NO problems at all. Not necessary to do any tricky set up of static IP or anything like that. The price is right too. Perfectly satisfied.

Bought two of these for access points to my son's new house 900' away. They were easily set up as universal repeaters. I can pick up signals over 1/4 mile with these. Downside is had to set up with WEP security to be repeaters but we are quite rural here so are not too concerned. It has been rock solid since setup 3-4 months ago.

don't try to do the set up yourself. the 800 help number was great. heavy india accent but very nice and able to get me set up correctly. It seems to really pick up well for wi fi, good purchase worth the price

I purchased this device to extend signal throughout our rather large house. Setup was a bit more difficult than I expected, but it came out OK. I got confused when I had to enter an IP. Our router uses 10.*.*.*, but the extender was suggesting 192.168.1.1 for the IP address to use. I tried changing it, but got an error. When I just left it at the default it went fine.Once set up, I had difficulty in getting it to keep the connection from where I had originally placed it. I think it would work at first, then drop the signal and would not try to reconnect. For that reason, I put it closer to the base router, in a more direct line. Now it seems to work fine, and has been working for a while now with no problem. It does get slightly warm, but you should expect that from most such devices. It probably doesn't help that I have it kind of surrounded to keep it out of sight.Overall, I'm satisfied with the purpose. Now that I have gotten configuration and positioning figured out, its been cranking away for about two months with no problem. If you need higher reliability or need an extender that can pick up fringe signals, you'll probably want to spend the extra to get something a little higher end. There is a version of the extender with three antennas. I haven't tried it and so can't vouch for it's quality, but it seems that the extra antennas might help.

I bought this device along with the TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND and it setup and performed well. The TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND was very strong by itself, but this repeater gave it even more of a boost -- almost overkill really.

I had correspondence with TP-LINK just to be sure that this unit would satisfy my constraints. They said yes via email.I want to plug my computers into the LAN ports via wired connections using static IP addresses as on my home network. Hotels differ in the way they provide wireless, so I would like this TP-LINK router to work in two possible ways:(1) Wired WANThe hotel provides a hardwire connection, so I just use a cable to connect the hotel source to the WAN port of the router. The LAN wired connection is as described above.(2) Wireless WANThe hotel only provides wireless through the hotel (with a password Mickey Mouse can easily crack). I must be able to connect to this wireless signal as a WAN side of the router. The LAN wired connection is the same as described above.When I received this unit, I called tech support as I could not fully test this on my home network for some reason. Their recording said that they will call back, like in 24 hours? Well, it's been 5 days, and no call.Just be sure this unit works OK. You won't get much help from support. I will return mine at the first hint it will not operate as I want in (1) and (2) above!Amazon really understands the importance of customer service. Too bad not all their vendors got this yet.

Getting this to work well requires a bit of work and a intermediate level of networking / computer knowledge.Unfortunately, running the 'Easy Setup' utility did not get me the desired results. I found instead that I had to:1. Reset the device (pin into the back till the 'System' light flashed and device rebooted.2. Manually set up the TCP/IP Protocol in my PC to an unutilized IP address that was in the 192.168.1.X range (auto detect did not do the trick with this device for some reason)3. Only then, run the Easy Setup Utility - which ultimately did the trick (still required scanning of router SSID and Security passwords - all of which I expected of course).Before that, I was just trying to run the Easy Setup utility to no avail. But now that I've got it working, and know how to get it working, it's rock solid; and I will be getting another one for my relatives.

I've used a few range extenders,this one is by far the best I've come across. It's easy to set up and it hasn't given me any problems at all since I got it a few months back.Contrary to the negative review, this range extender does support WPA and WPA2. TP-Link's website states the following:Wireless Security:64/128/152-bit WEPWPA / WPA2WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSKI'm also running mine on WPA2, and it has been working well since the initial setup. I was originally worried about making this purchase because there was only one positive review at the time, but this range extender was worth the investment.

I have to admit I am completely at a loss with this device. I'm an experienced IT guy, have done many router/wifi setups, masters 802.1q and routing. But I got fooled by this device description.Note that if this what you're looking for (a pure wifi->copper bridge or a repeater), then you're good to go. What is absolutely, positively, NEVER mentioned, is that the network settings are hardcoded when using client mode. I.e. everything must be on 192.168.1.0/24. You can change the device's IP on the LAN side, but the wifi side's DHCP server is on 192.168.1.0/24 network.So, to me, it was totally useless. I went back to a well-known ASUS RT-N12/16, which works fine, runs dd-wrt. Yes, it's more expensive but considering the time I wasted, it's a steal.Another note: the multi SSID feature seems to work, but I'm quite not clear how useful it is to be able to change the VLAN but not the subnet underneath?Really odd device. Again, if this is what you're looking for, it's great. But you may be surprised.

The TP-Link WA830RE Wireless N Range Extender does just what it says -- it extends the range of your Wireless Router. I initially ordered one of these to extend the range of my wireless router to an area of my house that was only receiving two bars on my computer. Once I set the Ranger Extender up, which was extremely easy, my desktop and my wife's laptop started receiving the full five bars wireless single strength. My own laptop at the other end of the house was not receiving a strong signal either, so I ordered a second TL-WA830RE range extender and the wireless signal immediately went to the full five bars as soon as I set up the range extender. If you are not receiving the full strength of your wireless signal, you need to purchase this range extender. Reasonable price and quick shipment from the seller using Amazon.com.

I spent a lot of time trying to find a good solution for an outdoor wifi antenna/router. This seems to be the most affordable and easy solution available. I currently have this unit installed indoors as a client bridge. Once I receive the mounting pole that I ordered separately (Winegard) I'll mount it outside.For the time being, I have the unit aimed through a window. It seems that the Low-e glass in my windows has a metallic film that is causing much of the interference with my wifi signal. As soon as I open the window, the signal strength increases by almost double. So once I get this unit mounted outside, I'll have a great connection.The setup was easy. The administration software that comes installed on the unit & accessed through my browser is easy to navigate and configure. In the past I have set up a client bridge using DD-WRT and I think the TP-Link configuration is easier. There are even nice tools to view live signal strength and data throughput statistics.It is powered through a small PoE device that comes included in the box. They have also included a short piece of cat-5 patch cable to run from the unit to the PoE device as well as a couple of plastic tie straps to mount the unit to a pole.All in all I think it is a wonderful value.

It's amazing how much the price changed in 3 days from ~$18.00 to ~$22.00 today.All in all though, it is cheaper than the other routers I've considered. The main problem I had was with the set-up of the system. I am not a techy person but I am really good at following instructions but the problem is that the user's manual I got with the package is in a foreign language, not English (I searched everywhere in the box, no English) so I have to search for the English manual online, I got it, took up few minutes of my time. Now, the router itself has a sticker that said "run the cd first", so I run the tiny cd, it took a while for it to get started. Once it got started, I always end up not having an internet connection, it seems the router and my modem are not connected. It was asking for a username and a password so I talked to my ISP through chat (I got a cable internet by the way). I have to plug the WAN to my PC to access the net, then plug it back to the router again to try connecting the router to the modem. But the ISP told me they do not have any username and password. So I tried again and again, tried plugging-unplugging the power supply for both the modem and router at the same time, tried shutting down my PC and running the CD over and over again, tried it several times and finally, after many hours of cumbersome cluelessness in setting-up, I finally got a connection. The wireless connection for my laptop which is in another room is amazing. I got no problem in that regard. Although, the router has fast ticking sound (like a wall clock sound but the ticking is faster) and it is a bit annoying. The machine is of course, cheaply made that is why it is sold cheap. One more thing, the manual (now in english) is a bit complex but may be helpful but may also be unnecessary depending on the way you see it.If asked if I would recommend this product? Answer = Yes and NoYes, if you want to save some money (like me) and still get a good connection, and don't mind spending few hours in downloading the English manual + talking to your ISP + setting up.No, if you have the budget for a more expensive router (with English manual), and don't want to spend too much time setting-up.

I initially bought one for the kitchen, due to multiple walls limiting wifi reception from router. Then bought another to daisy chain wifi out to yard. Full wifi signal there now. Just ordered a third to increase wifi signal on second floor. Setup is easy. Well worth the price. Very stable, have not reset either of my units in months.

I purchased the WA730RE because I wanted my network to reach my kids' room. I also purchased a new TP-Link router to augment a Linksys WRT54G.The upside: it does exactly what it promised to do - it extends the range of my network. It was also ridiculously easy to set up. I just plugged it into the router and it self configured. I had to do nothing.The downside: the new wireless-N network I created has a strong enough signal in my house that the range extender isn't really needed to reach my kids' room. The WA730RE is receiving and then transmitting the signal meaning that it, like any repeater, cuts the bandwidth in half. At the moment, I have it turned off because the trade-off was 50/50, with the stronger signal being cancelled out by the reduction in bandwidth.I highly recommend this product to anyone who can't get a signal all over their house and wants to extend the network wirelessly without having to run wire and create access points. It does what I expected it to. If my kids' computer were 10' further away, I'd be using it. I may still use it; it's a solid product.

I have set up 2 of these useing the software that comes with it. The software is very easy to use, and does what set up software should do. It gives you an easy to use tool to set up the device, When you are done with setup, it dosn't leave a program to clutter your computer. The device provides a very stable connection, and is able to pick up a signal through the metal siding on a mobile home. The antena that comes on the device works great. I do recomend the longer high gain antena for wider distances.

I was having trouble getting my wireless router to connect which I have done literally a hundred times with different routers. I called customer service and waited for approx. 45 minutes. When someone got on the line they were very friendly but went through all the hook-up steps I had already done and I told them this. They kept telling me different things I could not understand because the english was so broken and unintelligible that it was impossible to understand even when they tried to SPELL simple words. They were getting angry with me and telling me I was not intelligent because I could not understand jibberenglish. I grew up in America and if you sell products in America your customer service reps should speak well and not get angry when I don't understand you. I will never buy a TP link anything again. Save your money and buy a linksys. I will from now on.

The setup was pretty easy following the included instructions and it extends the wireless range to our yard as intended. It works well with the secured wireless network (router is also TP-Link, the 300Mb 802.11n model).I bought this a month or two ago and no problems so far with infrequent and light use (I didn't stream HD movies or download big files in the range extended areas, mainly web browsing and Netflix streaming on a Kindle Fire).

I replaced my Netgear wireless router (which I only had for 6 months) with this one from TP-link. I had connection issues, unidentified network issues, and my Blu-ray player was never able to gain online access through it and that was wired!I was a little skeptical of this router because the price just seemed too good to be true. But, after reading a few reviews, I went ahead and took the risk.It's only been a couple of days, but I am already extremely satisfied that I made this purchase!The router worked right out of the box. My old Netgear required a call to customer support just to get it connected right out of the box! Everything worked, my laptops can all connect and I can watch Netflix on my TV! The range on this is even farther than my Netgear!So far, it's an upgrade and for the price I paid it is more than worth it!UPDATE: 12/5/12I have had this router for over a year and I couldn't be happier. I don't even realize that I have it, which is how a piece of hardware like this should be. I never have to reset it and I only have my Blu-Ray player, which doesn't have Wi-Fi capabilities, wired to it. Everything else runs wireless with no issues. I run a Desktop computer, 2 laptops, a Kindle Fire, and use my phones on wi-fi exclusively when I am at home. Really, why would I pay any more for any other router? If I need another router for some reason, I am getting another TP-link!

If you have an ATT DSL connection use the set up CD and use the PPPOE connection type. Call ATT and asked them what you MODUM username and login ID is. Use the router quick set up disc, pick PPPOE and enter in the Modum login/user name. I chose no security when I set it up and then returned later and picked the medium security setting. I had to call TP-Link's help line three times. You're calling to somewhere deep in the bush of China. The first tech women's english was so bad I just hung up. The 2nd women was slightly better but told me I had to set my modum to bridged mode. I did and that killed my internet connection. The 3rd call back the tech women told me I needed to track down my modum Login ID/Password and call back and they's help me configure the router. I called ATT tech's, they helped me reset the ID/login for the modum, I killed that when I set it to bridge mode, and I now had the new login ID/password. I didn't bother calling TP-Link back. I followed the quick setup CD and got her up and running. BTW, getting through to the TP-Link tech's takes 10 tries. Probably the worst tech service I've ever experienced. Once running, it works great. Great deal for $18. If you're experienced you'll have no problem, if not, well, stick with it.

I recently got a new Att dsl line and the f90 modem they sent me is defective, so without going into too much details, I bought this TP-link modem/router from a local vendor to replace the crapped out modem from Att. However after days of struggling with this device, it turned out to be a cheap quality junk as well.First - their setup CD changes Windows network DHCP settings from automatic to static, and that is without notifying.Second - it cannot keep solid dsl connection. It may work for a few hours, then drops connection every few minutes. I had to restart the modem all the time to establish connection again.Third - automatic DHCP server in the router does not work. I had to restart the router again and again to make it recognize other computers on my home network.Fourth - the device gets pretty hot. Almost all routers I've used can be positioned horizontally or vertically. This unit can only be placed horizontally and its ventilation holes are located at its bottom, not top. This makes the unit unable to disperse heat, in addition to taking up too much room.All the mentioned problems were solved by returning this unit for another brand.

This router is truely plug-n-play. Easy to set up, easy to use.Because it's onboard RAM is only 8MB, it won't support a lot of advanced features. I tried to bridge two of these as a router, however, the program failed. I ended up repeating the signal off the TP-link with a Cisco router with DD-WRT installed.For the price, there are better ones out there, but simple and cheap are good.

Buying a new router/modem can be a nightmare. It's not bad enough that they are somewhat expensive but they vary greatly in quality. Based on the ratings left previously on Amazon, I bought this router for my home. I am thoroughly impressed. It has been running non-stop for 5 months without a single drop out so far. In fact, the one time we thought there was a problem (it turned out it was our ISP not the router) the tech support took care of our needs quickly AND the lady on the phone spoke English which was totally refreshing. I liked the TP Link so much that I have purchased additional TP Link products for other applications as well.

TP-Link Wireless AP/Bridge/Repeater (TL-WA730RE)The product says it works with a Mac OS, but the enclosed instructions do not discuss how to install on a Mac. You have to call tech support. Thirty-eight (38) steps and over a half-hour later, and needing to get an older mac laptop to replace my Mac Air for installation purposes, it didn't work. Tech support didn't know how to solve it other than to start the 38 steps all over again which I declined to do. Although I paid shipping to receive it, I must now pay shipping to return it.

I purchased this router so that I could stream music to my mobile phone while in the yard. My old router, a Linksys wireless B router didn't cut it. With claims like 2x-3x range, I expected to be able to extend WiFi coverage to the edges of my yard (it's a small yard!). While the range of this router is better, the range was extended only 20ft which is much less than the 2X-3X than advertised.I also had a hard time setting the router up. My old Linksys was plug and play but with this router I required 10+ email rounds with customer care with numerous screen snapshots and configuration changes. While the TPlink customer care was very helpful and ended up resolving my issues (it was a subnet configuration issue), it left me wishing I had purchased a different router.

This is a really great product! Setup was a bit tricky but once I got it working it instantly gave me a nice boost to my wireless network. The unit works great and I would recommend to anyone looking to expand their WiFi in dead spotsReview update on 3/1/12: This Access Point still delivers great performance. I also know though testing with my phone and tablet it has great range even grater then my current WiFi router. So this product is still in my book an A+.

After 6 yrs of use my old D-Link DI-514 (802.11b) router stopped working since the power adapter failed. The price is so expensive for a replacement power adapter, i thought i would upgrade to G router since my laptops are already equipped with wireless g adapter. After extensive search, i decided to buy this item from TP-Link. I bought this mainly based on reviews posted by other users.I bought this from amazon 5 days ago for $18. By following the quick installation guide i was able to setup the router in 15 minutes. I used WPA2-PSK security.I have Comcast internet. I use 2 laptops (one personal and one from work) and a Vonage VOIP phone. So far, i did not experience any dropped connection. My old D-Link router used to be like a hot oven while functioning, but this TP-Link router does not dissipate that much heat.Overall i am very satisfied with this product. I would recommend people to buy this product if they want a basic WIFI network at home.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------update 01/04/2013 - It has been 2 years since i bought this router. It still runs silky smooth..However i recently got thinkpad from work with Windows 7. If i try to connect that via wifi, the router simply kicks out all the connections. I need to power recycle the router to enable connecting the devices again.If i don't connect my work laptop, then no issues. My personal laptop has Windows XP. I will update this post after i find the solution to this problem.

Read the directions and I was able to get this Access Point up and running as a Client in no more than 30 minutes, from set-up at my wired desktop to hooking it up to my Blu-Ray Player. There is nothing on the CD except the WA901ND User's Guide, I used the Web-Based Interface and this interface is even better than the TD-W8960N Modem/Wireless Router that I used to link to the Internet. The interface has most of the User Guide information in a separate pane on the right-hand side of the interface. The Client sync'd up with the Wireless Access Point without any issues and the AP is at the other end of the house and one floor down in the basement. A basic check with my iPod Touch shows full bars all over the house.I was elated to find that the WA901ND had a Bridge w/AP Mode (not listed in the features but is in the Users Guide), however this mode only supports WEP wireless security which makes it useless if you want a secure network. I had to default to Client Mode for my set-up. I wish Bridge w/AP Mode had WPA/WPA2 security like every other mode, maybe this will get fixed in a future Firmware Update.The three antennas are removable with RP-SMA Connectors so you can extend the antennas to a better position if needed.Runs warm but not hot, once I get some antenna extension cables it will be housed in my Home Automation Panel (metal box on the basement wall) and I do not expect any issues with over heating.You can refer to DSLReportsDOTcom, CompnetworkingDOTaboutDOTcom, or NetScribeDOTcom (search for Wireless Design) for a number of useful forums/articles on networking.

The review is coming to you, courtesy of this product. It was very easy to set up and from the time it came out of the box to when it was up and going was just a few minutes...and believe me, if it was possible to be confused and bumfuzzled with an electronic item, I can make it happen. Not so here, easy set up and the strength of the signal seems to be more than adequate. In fact, I now have it streaming movies by way of my BlueRay player to my TV...pretty nifty!!! Anyway, I'm not much of a electronics guy, but this unit was easy to set up and is doing everything I need...that is, two laptops and streaming movies, all going at the same time.

I used this to replace a failed AT&T 2Wire DSL modem/wireless router that they wanted $100 to replace. I can fully recommend this product for even a fairly inexperienced computer user. The instructions are clear and once the antenna is attached and the power, phone, and ethernet cables are connected, the little CD walks you through the rest of the setup. Just pay attention to the settings the instruction sheet lists for your ISP and area. I used WPA security, renamed the SSID to something recognizable and assigned a password. In a few minutes the software finished the install and I was able to connect wirelessly with no problem. The unit was set up in a fairly large 2 BR apartment and a strong signal covered the whole area. I can't vouch for longer distances or up/down stairs.

So here is the deal, i am for the most part very understanding of computers...you would think so i work with them daily; however, something just wasn't right about setting up this router (on my own). Well here is the thing...(If you have DSL modem)***Connect DSL to your Router and your Router to the computer..then use the CD and go through installation. IF* you run into ANY trouble with the installation CALL the number on the box ( 866-225-8139) they may have a lot of calls so just wait until later in the evening if you have a chance.SERVICE IS EXCEPTIONAL!!they will guide you through what web page you need to locate and what buttons to press. It will NOT take you long to setup just make sure you can get an agent on the line if you have trouble.The router is TRUCK'N!!!! working like a charm. I have a xbox kinect and wireless blueray player in living room and ps3 in my bedroom both about 20 ft away (1,300.00 sq ft home) one with few walls between computer and device. Works great!!!!The package receipt condition was not good.... but thankfully nothing was broken!!!!! I Love how things work out!!!!
