If i'm being honest i'd take 1/2 star off for the Wear OS version (its on v2 compared to v3 the samsungs are on) but that's not anything mobvoi can do, thats on google. However looks like it'll be released for this watch in January. Once it does it'll be unbeatable.
The Mobvoi baked in apps make up for what's missing with Wear OS, see screen shot.
Sleep tracking app is really good and found the results very accurate (and near enough the exact same as my Galaxy watch 3).
Exercise wise it was also very good, however the HR took a minute or so after starting to settle down and after that was pretty accurate.
What makes it for me is the look and feel. Looks like a proper watch, and very very comfortable, considering the size. The dual screen is amazing, just makes it more appealing.
Battery wise initially saw a day of battery but that was with me constantly tweaking and playing about. After that settled, easily gets 48 hours + and thats with everything on, exercise tracking, gps etc.
Never tested the 4G/LTE capabilities so cant comment on that.
Considering this has just been launched, and will receive many an update to iron out the small blips. Can see this being a great buy in the long run.
For me the most important thing in a smartwatch is the battery life. I have a Garming instinct that I use on a regular basis, and when the battery for that on average is 2 weeks, it's hard for a ‘normal’ smartwatch to compare. This however has excelled my expectations, and as they state, it can very comfortably last for 72 hours. This is with ALL tracking turned on (heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep etc) which I found on my Ticwatch E drained the battery a lot faster. In essential mode I imagine it can last MUCH longer, however this also dramatically reduces what you can do on the smartwatch, so for me i haven't got round to testing this feature yet.
It's very comfortable to wear, and I feel looks very smart and subtle. It's not too big either, which can always be a worry for me as I have quite small wrists! With this running Wear OS the apps and other watch faces you can download can sometimes seem endless and this is definitely something i need to explore more.
I have been running this connected up to an Iphone 12 and have also had no issues whatsoever which is always a relief.
All in all if you're looking for a high end smartwatch with decent battery but FULL of features then I would definitely recommend this one!
Время автономной работы, как и у всех умных часов, всегда "короткое".
Mobvoi следует обновить эти часы до Wear OS 3, слишком долго пришлось ждать. Где находится Weos OS 3 Mobvoi?
One standout feature is the "dual screen" option, which allows you to see the time and basic information without turning on the full-colour screen, conserving battery and providing a more traditional watch feel. The watch runs on Google's WearOS and Mobvoi's additional apps, providing all the features and functionality I need. The large touchscreen is clear and responsive, making it easy to use for various tasks such as replying to text messages and checking notifications.
I've used the watch to record my steps, running, walking, and fitness workouts, and it handled them comfortably. It also includes health tracking features such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, and sleep tracking, which work seamlessly. The battery life is good and lasted me up to 3 days even with all features turned on. You can also link the watch with other sports tracking apps like Google Fit, but I am happy with Mobvoi's health and fitness apps, which perform very well.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase of the Mobvoi Pro 3 Ultra GPS smartwatch. It is one of the best smartwatches I've used so far, with great battery life. The "dual screen" feature with colour-changing LCD backlight is a nice touch. The watch is waterproof, has GPS tracking and has an abundance of apps you can install from the Google Play Store. The watch charges quickly with a strong magnetic charging cable that snaps nicely to the back pin charging connectors on the watch. Mobvoi has also introduced a new watch face app called Timeshow, where you can download more free watch faces and purchase others. You can also customize and create your own watch faces.
One thing to note, I have the LTE version of the watch, and to use that feature, you need to pair with your mobile phone cellular contract (eSIM), which costs an additional fee from your provider. I recommend contacting your provider before purchasing the LTE version to see if they offer a contract that includes the smartwatch eSIM plan for free or at a discounted fee. If not, you can save a little money and get the non-LTE version, which has the same features.
Pro 3 ultra
Personally, I'm not quite happy with the requirement to link to a Mobvoi account and install an additional app on my phone to use all the features of this watch. Some of them (like sleep tracking) aren't even accurate and aren't worth the hassle.
That being said, the watch itself makes up for its software problems in hardware. The always-on LCD is super easy to read in bright sunlight, takes up little to no batter, and will even kick in when the main "WatchOS" shuts down due to low power. It's sorta like a stealth feature!
I haven't had a chance to test out the GPS functionality in depth, but I'm not even sure it works as using Google maps, it doesn't seem to be able to pinpoint my location without the presence of my phone nearby.
But the real reason I bought this watch as an upgrade from my old LG G Watch R was due to the built-in NFC capabilities. I've been using Google Pay on this device for a year or so now and it's yet to let me down! Really happy with the convenience of being able to hold my wrist up to contactless card readers and pay for things with my hands full and without needing a phone on me.
Overall, a good value for money, but I worry the device's software has been long abandoned. Your best bet is buying a newer watch made in 2022/2023 or by flashing your own watch firmware on the device.
- because in the ‘Smartwatches Family’ this watch comes with the ‘Dual screen display’ feature that makes the battery last longer. And because it works with my non-Samsung phone better than the Samsung Gear watch (Samsung turned off some features when Samsung Gear is not used with a Samsung Phone).
-because this is a watch for both casual and fitness use (many choices available for watch faces). As far I’m concerned, I have bought it because it helps me a lot at work (as a Personal Assistant) because I am asked to keep my phone on silent while with a client and it may feel inappropriate to keep on checking my phone every minute for important (job related) messages or missed calls, so I can monitor my phones notifications on my watch. Also, it comes handy when I need to set a reminder or alarm /timer using the built-in Google assistant or Alexa** (that can be installed from Google Play Store and paid for a one-time small fee to unlock the premium Alexa). I can use voice memo as well (recording on the watch and transferring the file to the phone, after synchronizing, where it can be played).
**Google assistant on TicWatch can set reminders on the connected Google account, but, due to a Google Wear software bug unrelated to Mobvoi/TicWatch, I suppose, reminders are never displayed on the watch (but on the phone and all other smart devices) so Alexa adds a plus of functionality. In all other aspects, Google Assistant on the watch works fine with voice commands (examples of what I use: switching on/off smart devices, translating words, spelling, searching for answers on the internet and others).
With my job, it’s important to monitor the SpO2 levels, because I am still required by my P&P to wear a mask and sometimes I ‘forget’ to breathe deeply, as it happened in the past when my levels dropped under 95%. The SpO2 sensor is really useful.
Other uses:
With a 3rd party app like Stocard I store my fidelity cards or tickets (QR or bar codes) and I can use them fast when needed, for example before paying with GPay (NFC) from my watch. For this use, I noticed that one can pay with the watch even if the phone is not connected to the watch (I forgot it in the car). Need to mention it is said that the watch needs synchronizing with the phone every now and then to add more tokens to be used for future payments (while connected on bluetooth).
Other features that I tested:
- Multiple choice watch faces, found on Mobvoi app or Google Play Store
- Fast processor, responsive.
- Posh look and the interchangeable strap size is 22mm so it can be easily swapped for a leather one if you would like to use the watch as an accessory for your smart clothes and not for fitness. In the actual TicWatch version, the previous posh silicon strap looking like a leather one has been replaced by a sturdy look like fluora rubber. For whoever may want to swap it with a real leather strap (size 22mm), this is possible, like I did.
Thinner watch than TicWatch Pro 3 GPS by 1mm. Lighter than that by 0.2 g
Good 577mAh battery. With moderate use of display, sleep function use, O2, hearth 24/7, in smart mode the battery lasts 48-58 hrs. Some people claimed that it could last up to 72 hours (depending on how many active sensors, display’s brightness, and display’s waking up frequency).
(Retina LTPO OLED display should adapt to what the user is doing in terms of power consumption and variability of the refresh rate which is done dynamically to save battery.)
One could argue that the older version TicWatch Pro 3 GPS is as good as this version at a better price, however there are some improvements like:
- Improved durability compared to the older brother TicWatch Pro 3 GPS as this watch’s case has been upgraded from metal and plastic to metal and high-strength nylon with fiberglass
- both have been certified IP68 Waterproof and Swim Suitable however, the present version has been tested and achieved Military Standard 810G
- Additionally, the Ultra’s LCD’s backlight has been given the option to be changed to a variety of colours to choose from the ‘Essentials’ menu (for saving the battery, though, there is an option to be set to ‘default’ white).
- SpO2, Heart rate and heart rate variability HRV sensors can be set to 24/7, useful for monitoring one’s sleep and if you want more data than TicSleep app provides, 3rd party sleep monitor applications can be used successfully (I use ‘Sleep as Android’ paid version because I got addicted to this app and because it has a smart wake-up/alarm feature).
- As previous versions: good speaker, crystal clear sound when used for calls or with the Smart assistants as described above.
Spotify watch app has been added extra functionality, it can play sound on the watch itself, but sometimes switching to listening on the watch it’s a temperamental thing so I recommend using the watch as a remote control for Spotify playing sound on laptop, phone (with Bluetooth earbuds connected to phone) or Google Smart Display. Hopefully Spotify will improve this feature as TicWatch cannot be blamed for 3rd party applications.
I would like to mention that I don’t have too much spare time for fitness but I noticed the automated fitness tracker TicExercise started in two instances for me: (fast) walking and treadmill (indoor run); so with my limited exercising time I did not use many workout programs, but it is stated to have more than 100+ workout modes of which I noticed some ‘interesting’ ones: Tai-Chi and Yoga that I’m going to use soon 😊.
Overall, I am impressed with this watch and I like the previous versions as well (Ticwatch E3 - budget price - and Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS because they run with the same memory RAM: 1GB / ROM: 8GB and Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear™ 4100 and Mobvoi dual processor system), only this got better.
Was I in for a treat!
Battery life:
For me, one of the most important things on a smartwatch because I don't want to charge it everyday and I don't, not even 2 days, but actually getting 3 to 4 days of battery life with a workout a day and automatic Essential mode during the night since it barely spends battery but still keeps sleeptracking on and it only lights up the screen if you want as well. It's amazing and from all the reviews I've seen, it's beats all competition by a lot!
Performance: The speed of this watch is great, with no lag and any app's performance is just great as well. Even when using watch faces from Facer that are heavy and sluggish, the watch just used them normally. Also tried the new watchface app from Mobvoi and it works even better.
The features:
This watch has everything I could ever need on a watch, 24h monitoring of heart rate, oxygen in blood levels, stress, noise, steps and all the things you've read on the product. They're all there. And another great thing, it also syncs with Google Fit so you have different ways to look at the data.
Added a screenshot of a night's sleep and the amount of detail there is great, even when using it in Essential mode.
Can't wait for the wearOs3 update for all of this to be even better
So, long story short, love the watch, it's software and only having to charge it every 3 to 4 days just makes this the best Smartwatch experience for me.
Things I'd like to see on a next one:
- WearOS3
- A rotating crown, maybe one of the existing ones (Pixel Watch's is great)
- Customisable LCD screen
- Qi Wireless Charging (for more compatibility)
- Even better battery life?
Upon opening the box you’re greeted with a big screen with a very slim bezel and attractive metal surround. The Pro 3 Ultra GPS is a surprisingly slim smartwatch given its overall large size and despite this is still very light to wear, though still might be a bit difficult to wear with a formal shirt.
Design:
At almost 48mm in diameter, wow is this a big watch, however, the overall slim body does make the Pro 3 wearable even for people with medium to small wrists, though it might look a bit funny, to begin with. The Pro 3 has a great look thanks to the textured bezel and pushers that really add a subtle flair to the overall design and when you take it out from the box and hold it for the first time you will be very impressed with the build quality. The whole package just feels great in hand, especially the silicone band which is soft to touch, contours around my hand and doesn’t gather dust like other watch bands.
Display:
The product images on amazon showcase the large screen really are presentative of the real product. Wow, the 1.4” screen looks big, but at the same time, it blends really well inside of the textured stainless bezel. In my opinion, this might be the sweet spot size for an Android Wear OS device. Navigating through the interface and reading notifications on this screen just looks so good and the Gorilla glass that protects the is smooth to touch and so far from my usage, it has been scratch-free.
Compare to the TicWatch E3, the Pro 3 Ultra GPS screen does not feel cramped in any way and given that it’s an AMOLED screen, your eyes get to enjoy nice punchy colours and deep blacks and if Mobvoi were able to match the screen panel colour to the thin bezel between the screen and metal surround it would have been the most seamless screen design yet, easily rivalling the Apple Watch screen design.
The Pro 3 Ultra GPS isn’t just using an AMOLED, it also has a neat low energy secondary display that is reminiscent of a basic digital watch, like a classic Casio for example. When the main display turns off, you’re always left with a screen to see what illuminates when you tilt the watchmaking legibility clear even in dark environments. Even though the secondary display might be more basic in comparison to the AMOLED, it still provides all the vital information you need which consists of the time, simplified date, step count and battery life. I do wish more Android smartwatches had this feature.
Battery Life:
Mobvoi claims that the Pro 3 Ultra GPS can get 72 hours of battery life on a single charge and from my experience, their claims have been true in my use and sometimes even better, with my best runtime almost being roughly 96 hours. In addition to this great battery life when the watch is being used in its full-featured mode, even if you end up in a situation where the battery is so low, the basic mode will kick in and you will at least still have a usable watch for basic timekeeping. Unlike most smartwatches which will turn off and you’re left with a dead weight on your wrist.
Once you’re home and you’re ready to get the watch charging, you’ll be up and running for a full day of use in as little as 30 minutes, great if you’re coming home to freshen up for an evening gym session or social outing.
Just like the TicWatch E3 and most of Mobvoi’s other smartwatches, the Pro 3 Ultra GPS also uses a 4-prong magnetic connector which is fairly strong and accurate to connect to, and despite the watch having fast charging I’ve never seen it heat up.
Performance:
The Pro 3 Ultra GPS uses the same internal specifications as the lower cost TicWatch E3 and as such I’ve had a smooth experience when navigating the UI, transitioning between apps, making NFC payments and using the endless fitness modes the watch has to offer. Using Google maps on the Pro 3 Ultra GPS has been a great experience and a real-life saver when navigating public transport and commuting through London.
I’ve had many updates pushed to the watch during my 1 month of extensive use and have not experienced any issues in performance or battery life. Downloading apps from the play store are also very fast whether it be through the phone or directly using Wi-Fi.
Tracking:
The Pro 3 Ultra GPS has a lot of different sensors and I’ve not even touched the surface on everything this device has to offer however my experiences with the auto sleep detect have been great and the results have been comparable to what I’ve seen from my other sleep tracking devices. The auto exercise detection is a nice feature and I would say 60% of the time it’s been able to tell I’m actually exercising. During my times at the office when I’m moving between floors, it has misread my random bursts of speed walking as me starting an exercise, but it does realise and stops the exercise mode.
App:
The Mobvoi companion app has a great UI and is very easy to navigate and visualise all the data that the Pro 3 Ultra GPS is able to collect. I’ve not had any issues with the watch sending the data to the app.
The physical and mental status monitoring is a great touch and very insightful, and given the current state of the world, keeping on top of your mental fitness is something you shouldn’t ignore.
Final Thoughts:
The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS is a long title for a smartwatch that’s for sure and when compared to the TicWatch E3 It has a long spec list to match the name. The intuitive dual display the big and bright AMOLED screen, built-in GPS and even the option for eSIM LTE. I would say this is one of the best smartwatch offerings in the Android space that gives the Apple Watch a run for its money.
The Pro 3 Ultra GPS might be larger than the E3, but don’t let that put you off because it’s much slimmer and wears much better, not to mention feels a lot better on the wrist thanks to that thicker soft silicone strap and better materials on the case.
If you haven’t used a WearOS smartwatch for a while and are still on the edge about them from your previous experiences I feel like the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS, could be one that gets you liking them again and with the promised upgrade to the next major release of WearOS at least you know your smartwatch investment won’t be considered out of date within the next 6 months of ownership.
This watch is absolutely packed with great features. The "dual screen" means that you can use the watch to see the time etc, without the full colour bright screen kicking in every time.
With both Google's own WearOS as the basis for the watch and Mobvoi's additional apps on top give you all the features and functionality you could need.
The large touchscreen is very clear and wonderfully responsive, making it very easy to use, even for something like calculator, where the margin for error is relatively small, the watch did really well.
I've used the watch to record steps, running (GPS), walking (GPS), and fitness workouts, which it handled comfortably. Tracking day to day health through heart rate, oxygen saturations and sleep tracking are all included and seem to work flawlessly.
Battery life is good, even with all the features switched on I got 3-4 days out of it.
Most of the settings are managed through the watch itself, and although I would like to be able to do this through the app too, it's not a big inconvenience.
The watch/app also has the ability to link with other sports tracking apps, like Google Fit (obviously), and Strava, which for me was an absolute must.
Final thing worth mentioning is the notifications which work well and also allow you to send some basic responses from the watch.
One of the features that I particularly appreciate is the long battery life. With up to 72 hours of use on a single charge, I never have to worry about running out of power when I'm out and about. And when it does come time to charge the watch, it's quick and easy to do so.
The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS is also packed with a variety of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, and heart rate monitor, which have all proven to be reliable and accurate. These sensors, combined with the watch's powerful processor, have made it a great tool for tracking my workouts and overall activity levels.
Overall, I have been extremely satisfied with the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS. It is a feature-rich smartwatch that has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, reliability, and style. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality smartwatch that can keep up with their active lifestyle.
I boldly recommend this watch!
This particular model has only just been released (I pre-ordered on Amazon a week or so before release and the watch was duly delivered by the Official Mobvoi Store, courtesy of Amazon). The watch is nice packed in a smart and sturdy box and the contents are well laid out and secured within this. I found the watch, a quick start guide, a charging cable (no plug but you only need a standard USB charger to connect to which was no problem in my household). Charging with the magnetically connected lead was straightforward and fast and I installed the WearOS app on my Android phone in the meantime.
The watch itself is substantial looking but lightweight and the strap being a leather/silicone combination looks and feels really nice on the wrist - I have had admiring comments from people asking me what watch I was wearing and I would say it does look more expensive than it really is.
Setup was easy and did not take long, with a combination of the watch and the phone prompting me, I chose a nice watchface to run with initially (called Rhythm) and then started to play with the other apps and settings available before living my life with the watch to see how it worked for me. I have the watch set to always-on-mode as I love to see the animated watch face at any time, this does have an impact on overall battery life but I still found I only needed to charge every two or three days.
I have been wild swimming several times a week in the last year so it seemed natural to go for a rugged Smartwatch that would be able to cope with the knocks and bangs (as well as the water!) involved in such pursuits…. This watch did not disappoint in this respect in any way. It is apparently built to US Military Standard 810G - I’m not sure what that covers exactly, but I can say that this watch appears to be very tough. It is advertised as being dust-proof, waterproof (IP68 rated) as well as capable of withstanding temperature, humidity and shock extremes. All I can say is, it has survived my beach and river swimming activities without skipping a beat, I’ve clambered over rocks, sat in the sand and jumped in the sea. There is a an option to run a series of tones (long press the lower button) to drive any residual water from the speaker/mic which I think is worth doing (when I remember).
I should say that whilst this is my first Smartwatch so I don’t have anything to compare with, it seems really responsive with no lag at all when running any of the apps that I have played with so far. In terms of support and updates, whilst this watch is currently on WearOS V2, support for the newest iteration, WearOS V3 has been promised at some point which is great news.
The 4G/LTE functionality is not enabled yet on my phone - I need to speak to Vodafone as I understand they are offering a contract for the Ticwatch range and it would be really useful to be able to make and take calls and messages away from my phone (whilst swimming for example) - further investigation to come on this. I tend to use GooglePay on my phone whilst out and about so the ability to pay from my watch without getting a phone out of my bag has proven to be really useful and quick to do.
I love the ability to quickly review messages - WhatsApp or text etc (including graphic/photo content) - avoiding the need to pull your phone out to take a look and it is even possible to respond to messages quickly and easily with a pre-canned response. I find the message vibration alerts work well and get your attention without too much fuss or audible feedback.
App wise you do get a good selection of useful health related apps pre-installed - (both Mobvoi and generic Google variants), SPo2, heart rate, stress etc - I set all of these to continuous monitoring so I can keep an eye on my levels throughout the day (and night - with sleep tracking thrown in for good measure) - so it has been fun seeing how fit (or unfit at times) I appear to be…. I have installed the Strava app and tried this with both walks and cycling which works well - when you reach the end of your activity, simply hit the end button and the whole exercise including the route taken etc is uploaded to your account so you can see it in full detail on your phone, brilliant! The Google Assistant is useful for setting alarms and timers (as well as lots of other things I’m sure!) and I found using my watch to control the Spotify app in the gym made sense. Beyond this there are apps for numerous other purposes available in the PlayStore via the watch.
All in all I love my new watch, this may be my first Smartwatch but I can’t fault the experience in any way, from the rugged construction to the lovely bright, responsive screen and decent Multi-day battery life, it’s a winner for me and I’ll certainly be recommending the brand and specific watch model to friends and family in the future.
When I first opened the box I could see it was a bit larger than my previous one and wasn't sure if that'd suit me, but it is not heavy or cumbersome. The buttons on the side stick out a bit but have not caught on my wooly jumper. The dual screen is really helpful, the LCD shows the basic info I need to see (the time 🤣) without having to wake the OLED which must save the battery.
As the OS is Google Wear there so many apps available and a fair few settings on the that I have not tried quite all of them all yet but what I've discovered so far is.....
Changing the watch face is so easy, just press on the face a moment and the list of options appears. I find most of the options too masculine for me so it'd be great if more neutral/feminine options become available.
The Google translate feature is fab, speak into the watch and it translates to text and flips the screen upside down so you can hold your arm up comfortably to show the translation.
I also love that you can answer phone calls on the watch and speak into the watch, I feel like as though I'm on a Sci fi show!
Battery life is impressive and lasts about 3 days. The charger attaches magnetically and does not take to long to charge back up either.
My only real issue work you has watch is it does not count my steps when I'm pushing my daughter in her pushchair. I selected 'outdoor walk' in the TicExercise app but it only registered 30 steps in a 45 min walk. My old watch was the same. Walking whilst holding a phone to my ear registers but not pushing a push chair or trolley. Unless there's a setting somewhere I've been unable to find so far??
The smartwatch mode is wear os so you have plenty of apps option from playstore. On smart mode battery last upto 72 hours depending on the usage and settings. Their health option to detect Iregular heartbeat and AFib detection is very good feature for people with heart problem as it will give you notification when it detects and you could consult doctor. This feature requires you to turn on 24 hour heart monitoring which will consume more battery life. I have tested the 24 hour heart monitoring and at 17 hours my battery had still 58% left with fair amount of use, as I was updating firmware and setting up the watch and apps. I think this battery consumption is fair for 24 hr monitoring, I have samsung galaxy watch 4 as well which drained battery faster in 24 hr monitoring.
The charger is magnetic so easy to snap on the watch and charge it. Most of other smartwatches have wireless charging magnetic but this one comes with two pin magnetic charger. It would be nice to have that wireless charging so that it could be charged on wireless charging docks, hopefully mobvoi will look into it for future releases.
I like the design of the watch, it has mettalic front face and body is premium fluoro rubber which makes it lighter and tougher. It looks big and I prefer it but some people might not depending on their wrist size but the watch itself feels very light on the wrist due to its construction of material.
I have lte version which comes with brown leather strap with inner rubber, so you can wear it even during workout and also with smart clothing.
Packaging
Outwardly, the packaging of the watch was very similar to the previous versions, a high-quality box containing the watch, instructions, and charger, all packaged with care to ensure a flawless product on delivery.
Watch Design
As expected, this iteration of the Pro 3 series is stunning. The older Pro 3 was very good looking, but this Ultra version excels with additions such as the slightly bevelled edge and almost flush glass, which is Gorilla Glass in this version – very handy and rugged. The materials of the watch feel very durable, which you would expect from the Military Standard 810G specification.
The black bezel still maintains a nice reflective quality, with numbers etched on it in 5-minute intervals. The bezel does not rotate, but this is expected as neither did the previous model.
The side buttons both feel robust and are unobtrusive even when bending the wrist (if you wear it on your left wrist like I do, some watch buttons can get pressed when bending the wrist)
The watch seems the same thickness as the than the earlier Pro 3 model, but does come in approximately 7g heavier at a total of 68g. That said, it still feels light and is very comfortable.
Strap
The supplied strap is a 22mm quick-release band, which is made of Fluoro Rubber and is super soft to the touch. It has a decent amount of flex, without feeling floppy, and at the same time it feels very durable.
Display
This is where the Ticwatch really shines. Using the clever 1.4” dual display, the majority of the time the watch will be using the low-power always-on LCD screen. This screen shows the essential information like Time, Date, Step count, and battery. By either clicking a button, or tilting your wrist, this activates the AMOLED display which then allows the full smart watch functionality, with responsive touch screen and a host of apps at your disposal.
The LCD display is great for viewing in light areas, and is perfectly readable in direct sunlight, which a lot of smart watches cannot do. In a change to the previous version. the LCD can utilise a coloured backlight mode, which is a nice addition.
The full AMOLED display is bright and vibrant with excellent viewing angles, and dark blacks.
Apps
Most of the apps are fairly standard from a Google Watch OS standpoint. All the regulars are there like Google Fit, Phone, Memo, Calc, Alarm, Stopwatch/Timer, Weather etc. With the benefit of access to the Google Play store to download thousands of other apps.
My most used apps such as Google Keep, Strava, Spotify all worked flawlessly.
Another big plus is Google Pay, which is fully supported on this watch. I programmed the bottom hardware button to be a single press to Google Pay (though by default the double click also does this), and I have made numerous purchases using it, as it is SO convenient. In case you’re worried about security, if using Google Pay you must set up a PIN or pattern, which activates every time you put on the watch. Therefore, if the watch was taken from you, Google Pay would not function without it.
In terms of the Tic built in apps:
I have TicSleep monitoring my sleep, as the watch is comfortable enough to wear to bed
TicZen and TicBreath can help de-stress
TicHearing can be used to measure the volume of an area
TicPulse is used to monitor my heart rate, which I have set to do 24/7 monitoring. Accuracy seems consistent with the Pro 3 and Pro 2020 models.
TicOxygen measures blood oxygen levels. I also have this running 24/7.
TicExercise has all the modes you would expect from an exercise tracking app – Run, Walk, Treadmill, Cycling, Freestyle, and many more including Swimming due to the IP68 water resistant rating. It can also upload to Strava, which is my exercise hub of choice.
A new addition to the Tic apps is Hearth Health, which can 24/7 monitor your heart activity to detect Irregular Heart Beat such as AFib.
All of this gets pulled into the TicHealth app which gives a nice overview of all the above functions.
TouchScreen and Hardware
The screen is responsive to touch, I would say more responsive than the previous models. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 platform, which is a powerful applications processor and ultra-low power co-processor, performs admirably and combined with the 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM it never seems to slow down or show any signs of lagging.
The usual connectivity that you’d expect such as Bluetooth 5 and 802.11b/g/n Wireless, and a whole host of GNSS technology (GPS+Beidou+Glonass+Galileo+QZSS)
Battery Life
I was pleased to see that the battery life of this new model was as good as if not better than the previous one, even when I was using the watch with so many features running, such as the 24/7hr and blood oxygen, and also wearing it to monitor sleep. From first charge, I was able to eek out 3 days, including 2 nights. I haven’t used it in essential mode, which shuts down all smart performance, limits you to the LCD screen and only monitors steps, but this mode should allow up to 45 days!
UI
The UI on this feels buttery smooth, with no lag that I can detect. All touches are recognised, and no delays between presses and apps opening.
Charging
The watch includes a discreet magnetic charging clip. It clicks into place effortlessly and allows the watch to sit at a slight angle, which would be nice for a bedside if you’re not wearing it to bed along with TicSleep.
Conclusion
So in conclusion, this is a superb and very comfortable smartwatch that I can see myself wearing for years to come…Or at least until the next model comes out!
Screen is bring and fairly responsive.
As a former Apple Watch user the features are lacking in comparison but better than most if not all android comparisons.
Notifications work well, same as Google Pay.
Love the options available for different bands at low cost.
Battery life is realistically 2 days if you modify some settings. Make sure you disable fitness tracking for Google fit if you're using To health instead and vice-versa.
Compared to its predecessors, the design of this TicWatch is sublime and sleek with a slim bezel and attractive metal body. This is a watch that can be worn for all occasions (Including the pool thanks to its IP68 waterproof design!)
The battery life is impressive, managing to go 4 days without charge with moderate use along with sleep tracking each night and the supplied USB charger means you're never far from an outlet should you need to give it some juice
The watch is incredibly fast and responsive and armed with an array of features including: Long Battery Life, Advanced Health & Fitness monitoring, Heart Rate Tracking, Sleep Tracking & Stress Monitoring
There's full Google Assistant and Google Wear OS support too - So it's great knowing all your favourite apps and watch faces are going to be compatible with the watch and with Google Pay also built into the watch there's never been such a fast and easy way to pay when out and about
Having used TicWatch products for the best part of 5 years it's safe to say I know exactly what I was getting when I bought this product, just like every previous MobVoi TicWatch the Pro 3 Ultra provides excellent value for money, attractive design and an array of features far surpassing what you'd expect for the price point
