In short, I sent this back after two days of use. Granted I never used it long enough to test all features but long enough for me to decide that what I did test, was quite poor.
The sleep tracking was really poor, registered only two hours of a six hour sleep and told me I was asleep when when I was watching TV and other times when motion was limited.
Step counting was laughable, so inaccurate. Yup I understand you will get some variation in steps and phantom steps but over two days of wearing on a non dominant wrist I was experiencing somewhere between 6000-10000 extra steps compared to a waist worn pedometer. Good job I wasn't wearing it on my dominant wrist while watching P*rnhub, as it would have gone in to over drive.
I wasn't bothered about heart rate as when I train (cycling), I use a chest strap, but it did seem to measure resting heart rate accurately. Same goes for GPS, I'd rather use my Garmin when cycling.
I also got fed up with it telling me that I was running when I was actually either stationary or walking. Yes I also understand that this feature could be turned off, but rather than look, I boxed it back up and sent it back to Amazon.
One thing it did well in the short time I had it, was it could tell the time!!
Performance: the new SoC provides unmatched performance. Where there were stutters and hangups on my old watch are smooth as butter. The 8gb of storage is great for storing playlists offline with Spotify or YouTube music.
Essential mode/2nd screen: the 2nd screen is fantastic. I have tilt to wake turned on but can still see the time and date at a glance and the date is now in the correct format for UK customers. The battery life in essential mode is great too, I haven't used it intensely but I can believe the quotation of 30+ days on a charge.
Software: while wearOS is good, there are still some flaws and bugs here and there. There's nothing mobvoi can do to correct this - we just have to hope wearOS 3.0 will patch these and that the update comes soon.
Overall: a great all around watch for anyone who must have the most premium wearOS experience, with a feature set to match the price tag. I would wholeheartedly recommend this watch, on the condition that it is still pending an update to wearOS 3.
- OVERALL: The watch, as the previous version, is a great watch, with great battery life and very powerful. has many features that allow monitoring your activity with very high accuracy. It has Wear OS and I really hope will be updated to the 3rd version.
- DESING: I like the rounded shape and I still think is the best shape for a watch. The glass is now upper and at the same level as the crown which allows you to have a better experience with the gesture. Even I love this design, I would like to see some differences from the next version.
- MILITARY standard and new CROW: The watch is now certificated with MIL810 and I can tell you seems very durable and robust. I love the new crown knurled.
- NEW LCD BACKGROUND LIGHT: You have now the possibility to change the background light of the LCD screen. more than 9 colors and at the moment I use the orange one.
- GOOGLE ASSISTANT is working as per any other android smartwatch, but I think in TicWatch is very well implemented because can be activated with OK google or just with a double tap on the first button. At the moment I can't use to call any contact. I think is a problem related to google that I have in my previous one as well.
- GOOGLE PAY: I have set it up immediately and I am using it every day when I get public transportation. It can be activated with a double click on the second button and immediately you can use it.
- BAROMETER: I haven't yet found any app pre-installed that I could use this functionality, but I have used a 3rd part app from playstore.
- CHARGING TIME: I think this version is using a new charger that allows charging faster than the previous one. It's about 30% in 25 minutes makes for a full charge below 90 minutes. Additionally, the watch does not get hot during charging and charging takes less time.
I started off with the Ticwatch Pro then the Ticwatch Pro 4G/LTE, Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS, Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS ( you can see a picture of the last 3).
So why do I keep using them, I will go by my experience and I am not going to get into tech details as you can get that information from the product description.
Pros:
Battery life: Gives me up 3 - 3.5 days . I actually got 4 days when I scheduled the Auto switch to essential mode between 9 pm and 6 am. That did mean that I couldn't track my sleep.
Look and feel: this model feels a lot more premium than the earlier models, it's definitely thinner and feels lighter and more comfortable on my wrist. It's very smooth scrolling through the apps compared to the much earlier Ticwatch Pro. The AMOLED screen is very bright, and setting it to auto-adjust also saves on battery. I like how the strap fits around my wrist, it also doesn't flap about
Durability: The Screen is tougher than the previous model ( managed to scratch that one in the first month I got it) This one has already taken a few knocks and has not been scratched yet.
It is also waterproof, unlike the previous model.
Cons,
I would've preferred the watch casing to be metal, but it still looks great though.
Would've liked a rotating bezel or at least give the buttons scrolling functionality when they are turned.
On the whole, it's a great watch and I will probably keep buying the new versions as they continuously improve
The watch is very well built with a lovely leather band. It feels good on the wrist and is very comfortable. It has a number of standout features but the two that really appeal to me are:
Battery Life – begone battery anxiety! The battery on this watch has given me nearly 3 days before it needed charging. It also gives up to 45 days when using essential mode, which I haven't tried as I'm too busy playing with it. This is a marked change on my previous smartwatch that barely gets over a day and that’s with turning off its monitoring features (which I had bought it for – Catch 22 or what?).
With the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra I don’t have these daily battery worries any more.
Screen – The AMOLED screen is excellent but this watch has a trick in that it also has a second LCD screen. Instead of your watch going to a black screen to save power, like other smartwatches, this watch activates the LCD screen which stays on and provides time, steps, battery life, and heartrate. It also has a backlight function to help when it’s darker.
It also has all the benefits of Wear OS and is compatible with all the apps including whatsapp, google pay, and google fit. Plus it has google assistant which is a brilliant function with the builtin microphone and speaker.
Also it’s soon getting the new Wear OS 3 update which will only improve it further.
Performance wise I found that it had zero lag and menus and apps were quick and fluid to use.
Overall one of the best Wear OS watches. With regard to battery life it has no competition.
The screen is excellent and has a nice bezel. It also has a second LCD screen so instead of your watch going to a black screen to save power, like other smartwatches, this watch activates the LCD screen which stays on and provides time, steps, battery life, and heartrate. It also has a backlight function to help when it’s darker. According to the manufacturer it can last up to 45 days when using this mode.
The watch runs Android Wear OS 2 and is compatible with all the apps including whatsapp, google pay, and google fit. Whilst using this over the past week there has been zero lag with menus and apps quick and fluid to use.
You can make and receive calls through the watch if paired with your phone due to it’s built-in microphone and speaker. I found the calls easy to hear and had no problems with the other person hearing me.
Overall one of the best Wear OS watches and with regard to battery life it has no competition.
Initially, it seems like there's a lot to love about it - among other things, the screen is beautiful, the watch itself looks lovely and feels like a premium product (if a little big but that's no suprise), it runs WearOs (and is one of the few smartwatches set to be updated to the new WearOs 3 later this year), and it can track lots of health and activity stats (or seems like it can) - and all of this for just over £200!!
However, after owning the watch for about a week and doing some research, several red flags were raised which led to me sending the watch back.
The first was that this watch is advertised as having 24 hour heart health tracking (afib detection etc), however this isn't available in the UK for some reason. This information wasn't easy to find, and definitely feels like false advertising on Mobvoi and Amazon's part.
Secondly, the advertised compass feature has been deactivated. Again, this isn't clearly stated anywhere, but from what I can gather it was quietly deactivated as it was interfering with another sensor.
Also, TicWatch and Google both had apps which recorded the same things, and got very confusing. The Mobvoi app was also abysmal and rarely worked properly.
In addition to this, I had multiple other problems. I had to factory reset the watch several times to set it up properly as it kept having problems. The essential mode also didn't work well for me. The battery charged very slow, in particular when it got to around 90%. Often things didn't synch well as I had to restart them.
Another huge problem with the watch was the sensors. Step tracking was massively off - it was recording steps when I brushed my teeth or when I was working at my desk, meaning it was often 5,000+ steps over what it should be. Heart rate tracking also was inaccurate. It recorded me as sleeping when I was working or watching TV. I will say, GPS tracking seemed to be fairly accurate but I always used this paired with my phone, and it was also very slow to find the initial GPS connection at the start of workouts.
All of these problems tie into a larger issue with this watch, which is an issue with Mobvoi in general. While their products seem like good quality, a little research online tells a different story. Mobvoi aggressively market their products and offer free products for positive reviews. Also, their customer service is non-existent, so if you have a question or a problem down the line they either don't respond or are very unhelpful - just have a look at their Trustpilot scores to see what I mean. I did personally send them a message to query the heart health tracker issue, which they completely ignored. It also seems like their watches either tend to break down quickly, or not long after they are released updates are stopped in favour of releasing a new watch.
Reading the reviews of people online on places like Reddit and Trustpilot, combined with the issues I was having raised major red flags for me. As much as the watch was lovely, as a sports tracker it's next to useless and the potential for this to break down was too great, which was why I sent the watch back.
I use it everyday even whilst sleeping to monitor different activities.
Definitely worth an upgrade!
I won't be returning it but will replace it when I replace my phone.
On opening the nicely presented box you get the watch itself, a USB charger cable (no power adapter) and a simple user guide which explains the basic functions.
My first impression was that the watch itself is beautifully made, the bezel is very well machined and this gives it a quality look and feel. The silicone rubber strap is soft and overall the watch is really comfortable on the wrist. As you can see from my photos the watch is large in diameter but once on its not too big (my wrists are fairly small). The watch itself is quite thin compared to a lot of smart watches so it doesn't feel bulky, or like your going to catch it on passing doorframes all the time.
Once you connect the watch to your phone via the WearOS app its all very simple to setup and I was done in just a few minutes.
This watch is no slouch - it performs far better than any of my other smart watches. Its quick to call up menus and go between apps. The screen is a big leap forward it has two modes awake which is colourful and vibrant (seem to be a very high resolution) but even when in rest mode you can see the screen is still bright both modes are easily seen even in direct sunlight.
Battery life is good too as expected and it also charges quickly.
There is an array of TicWatch and Google apps for fitness, wellbeing and health and I love changing the watch faces to suit my mood or activity.
In summary don't be in any doubt about buying this watch, its a great performer, its comfortable to wear and imo looks better than many more expensive watches.
The improvements made from the previous versions are great and the battery life is brilliant, so far I've used around 40% of the total battery after 2 days of use with all the monitors on for heart rate and such. At the current rate I'm using it, it should last for around 4, maybe 5, days before needing a charge.
I've been using the watch with pre-installed Mobvoi apps: TicHealth and TicPulse, TicSleep, TicZen, TicOxygen, and TicHearing. They're all just as good as I expect and track everything I need, also automatically syncing across to Google Fit as well once you set the link between them up.
The watch strap is definitely the best one so far, it has a brown leather-effect exterior on the strap and looks much more stylish than the previous full plastic ones you would get. It's also very comfortable to wear. The watch itself is the same size as previous as well so that's a bonus.
It runs on the Snapdragon 4100+ chip with Wear OS so it's more efficient than my previous watch and the new features like the coloured essential mode display and the improved battery life make it a good improvement overall.
Additionally, if you've got an eSIM from someone like Vodafone then you can have your calls and texts on the watch itself without needing your phone with you. I personally always keep my phone with me, but it is good to know that if I run out of phone battery, I can do everything necessary on my watch until I can charge my phone up again.
I recommend this watch for those looking for a good quality watch with great battery life and stylish looking strap! It'll last you a long time!
Design
Great design, elegant enough for formal wear & casual enough for the gym.
Performance
Very smooth scrolling with flagship interactions. The Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS Ultra sports a modified Snapdragon 4100 processor which makes the smartwatch very snappy.
Battery
Great battery allowing proper sleep tracking with all day use for at least 3 days with all sensors switched on. The low powered secondary mode (Essential mode) has addition customisations where you can change the colour to suite your mood & includes a backlight.
The other good thing about having this watch is it should be inline for a software upgrade from Wear OS 2 to Wear OS 3.
Extended Features includes:
24 hour heart tracking.
Physical & Mental status tracking.
Sleep tracking.
Blood oxygen tracking.
NFC for Google Pay.
Waterproof for Swimming pools.
Compass built-in
Mic & speaker to allow voice calls or Google Assistant.
Essential mode which puts the watch into an extra low powered state allowing sleep tracking, step counting & time for multiple days (I think 45 days is quoted, I've used it for 7 days from 100% & still ended up with 85%).
Essential mode can also be timed which I use between 00:45 & 07:00 leaving me to charge the Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS Ultra twice a week.
The only negative I have found is the name of the device is a bit too long but the price makes up for this.
I like to wear a wrist watch all the time as I have to keep track of the time while I'm working and I prefer to see the time without having to take my phone out of my pocket or talking to an assistant.
I use the TicWatch 3 mainly in the essential mode as I can see the time but don't have to worry about the battery dieing, I'm sure the battery will last easily over a month, and the back light in essential mode is awesome as it means I can use it in the dark. And the ability to choose the back light colour is an added bonus.
The other main thing I like about this watch is that it is so much faster to go boot up into normal mode. The smart watch boots up and ready to use within 30 seconds, that means that if I want to use all the function of the watch I only have to wait a few seconds, and then when I'm done I just put it back into essential mode. My TicWatch 2 was a bit slower in this department.
Other things I like about the watch. The extra bio sensors are really good and seems really accurate. The strap is much more comfortable, I changed the strap on my TicWatch 2 to a after market ceramic strap but I have decided to stay with the original for this one.
The last review I made was for the Ticwatch Pro in November 2019 and here we are 2 years and 2 months later and I've upgraded to the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra 4G/LTE.
As I was so impressed with my original Ticwatch I opted for the upgrade against the "supposed" better (& more expensive) options from more well known brands.
I have been wearing this new watch for a week now and it is just amazing. Its so comfortable that you don't even realise your wearing it. In comparison, the 2019 Pro was a bit chunky to wear.
The battery lasts for 2-3 days constant use compared to 1-2 days with the Pro.
The new screens and apps are alot more varied and very useful.
I also love the fact that I can use the watch independent from my phone. I'm a Vodafone customer and the watch allows you to piggyback onto your mobile contract. It makes you feel a bit like James Bond, using your watch to make and receive calls.
Overall, this watch is everything you could want in a watch and then you have the additional features which make this watch special.
If you want to spend more money on the "named brand" watch then more fool you.
So it's a trade off between having to charge it every day or not using the full functionality of the watch.
Surely by now batteries should be better
I much prefer having an always on display, it is a watch after all. So I thought the dual display from Mobvoi was a genius idea as it lets you have a normal watch most of the time, and all the smart features you want at the touch of a button. This watch has gone a step further in providing a live seconds counter and a back light, which you can now further personalize with a choice of colours. This is the way forward for all smartwatches IMO.
The battery life is fantastic, you easily get 3 days out of a single charge which means you don't have to remember to bring the charger if you go away for the weekend. I've not really had any need to use the Essential mode, but with normal everyday usage, even with 24-hour heart and oxygen monitoring enabled 3 days is realistically achievable.
The performance is really good, anything I asked it to do was smooth and fluid with no delay. The Mobvoi dual processor system makes it noticibly faster than the Pro 3. The screen is wonderfully clear either indoors or out and it's range of exercise apps make it a great choice for outdoorsy people.
I'm really looking forward to the release of WearOS 3 next as it's been confirmed that this watch will get the upgrade. In summary, I'd recommend this watch to anyone, it doesn't just claim it can do things, it actually does them all incredibly well.
