In a head to head comparison to a Grundig traveler radio with short wave capacity and a CC Crane, it performs as well without the cost. the only change I would make to this radio would be to use a 90 degree plug for the 15 meter to reduce the profile of the radio.
This is a good radio worth the money paid.

Pros: I like the smaller size, great quality, 3 antennas provided, Good features for SW, picks up good SW frequency range.
Cons: Can be somewhat complicated w/ all the features and none of the abbreviations intuitive. No power cord included.
Like I said, just bought it, used it a couple of times, love it.

Compares to radios that CCrane sells for much more money..

The Bad News: Controls and manual are less than intuitive.
Unlike most On-Off AM-FM radios, the 606 offers extensive customization - if you just want to open the box, pop in two batteries and head down the road you're in trouble.
And, while it is all there in the Operation Manual, the style is terse - I had to read several sections several times to get things to work.
That said, the adjustable AM bandwidth is worth the whole package - open wide for reception from afar, or choke it down to squelch noisy neighboring stations.
There is no direct digital input (9 - 7 - 0) but there is a fast scroll that, for me, works as well. And ETF will find and store all stations with sufficient power for listening (in the hills of southern Arizona I scanned 60 AM stations at 3 in the afternoon). TIP: scan in a location with the best reception to get the most stations; scan in a closet (!) to limit storage to just the strongest. EFT stores temporarily - any station can then be added to one of 550 permanent slots.
One of my favorite radios has been my Sony ICF SW-100 World Traveler (made in Japan - an oldie) which pulled in Washington in Beijing, Beijing in Chicago and most of Europe & Russia across most of America and vice-versa. The 606 has fewer total bands, but band-for-band it's better, almost the same size but a third lighter. After being disappointed by Sangean, Grundig and contemporary Sonys, the 606 is an out-of-the-park home run.
If you get one, hold off on the Scotch until after you've read the Operations Manual, have set the clock and punched a few stations into permanent memory. Then celebrate.
And if you want concerts, use earphones: the internal speaker is fine for talk and casual music listening, but it ain't hi-fi. And only earphones are stereo.
Do I like it? I like it so much I'm tempted to get another one just for the hell of it.

1- Sleep timer that stays put when I turn the radio off: I set the Sleep Timer to 30 minutes and turned the radio off. After I turned it back on, it automatically went to 30 minute Sleep mode. I loved it, I don't have to set the Sleep timer every time I turn the radio on.
2- Selective Memory saving: I tuned to the stations that I like and saved them as presets manually: When I turn the tuner wheel which is on the right side of the radio, it only sequences my saved presets. Excellent!
3- The Reception and Sound quality: I was blown away with quality and clarity of Sound and precision of reception. Beats all other Radios that I had previously tried hands down.
4- It has Clock and Alarm: You set the alarm sound level and the station to which you want to wake up and PL-606 will wake you up right on time (A little caveat her.. read on!).
5- The Lock: Locks up the whole radio except for the Volume level. Fantastic!
6- Power: Two AA batteries tun this radio. It has internal Ni-Mh battery charger. The charger is off by default. If I want to use rechargeable batteries, I'd turn it on. For regular batteries you leave the charger off.
For rechargeable batteries all you need is a 5 Volt Adaptor with mini USB connector.
NOTE: ***NEVER TURN ON THE INTERNAL CHARGER IF YOU USE REGULAR AA BATTERIES***
7- Retains all your preset stations: I did all my setups and then removed the batteries. All my preset memories were retained. Basically, you don't have to rush at all when replacing batteries. Great feature!
Downsides:
1- The linearity of the Volume control could have been better.
2- The Wake-up alarm volume cannot be set (the radio alarm goes off always at volume level 10, which is very loud. According to the Manual the alarm volume can be set, ( Believe me, I tried many times, but every time the alarm went off the volume was at level 10.
CONCLUSION:
I must say, Tecsun had good intentions designing this radio. Majority of the functions work well, except the unstable sound volume and Volume of the Alarm. If you can ignore these little issues, it's a nice Radio.

The manual includes not a word on how or how to activate backlit display.
I would not recommend it I wanted a Sony but the model I wanted was out of stock and the CC Radio's while I know are good are too costly for me.
