Again, I'm badly disappointed with the Sound Quality, which should get better as a company releases newer models and in this case, is clearly a step back. WHY SONY?
Newcomers to Sony are most welcome to try the xb33.

Pros:
- Build Quality is AWESOME, one holds it in hands and feels the strong plastics used, this one can sustain some abuse.
- Classy looks, I think all the colors are awesome in this minimalist design.
- Rubber grip given at the base, doesn't let the speaker skid while using.
- Can be used in vertical or Horizontal position, good part is, it aligns itself automatically in horizontal position.
- Has type C charger, faster charging and no need to carry extra charger cable for speaker.
- Waterproof, dust proof and shockproof, gives confidence to use it outdoors.
- Sony sound quality is always better than rivals.
- Adequate Bass for 20 W unit, certainly doesn't enhance bass though.
- Filling sound in medium sized room and excitingly pulpy outdoors. I have used it in mildly windy parts of Himalayas, works well.
- Charge lasts for 10-12 hours of normal usage (Incl calls).
- Connects to two devices at a time, thereby if one is using two devices, it automatically switches sound inputs. Small feature, very convenient!
- Good strap, useful and quality is really good.
- Has a mature and calm poise, a quality that makes it an able candidate to sit proudly in living room. It is a looker in its unique way.
Cons-
- It looks way too simple. In other words its not flashy or gaudy.
- Rubbery gimmicky material is missing that may appeal to adolescent public.
- Has a sound output of 20W and not more.
- Doesn't have AUX input.
- Product focuses on quality and is a little expensive.
- Cover is unavailable in the market custom made for this one yet.
Conclusion
I would strongly recommend this one, if portability, sturdiness and quality sound is what you are looking for in a wireless portable speaker.
Absolutely rugged piece from SONY Corp, I am extremely happy to own.

This speaker has very forward vocals(like in your face). It has more bass than xb30 but xb30 is much pleasant to listen and xb30 has surprisingly better sound stage and natural sound reproduction. Xb43 has harsh highs and lot of bass but a lot of frequencies in between are completely gone. At one point while watching a short movie I thought why have the movie makers haven't put any background sounds and too my surprise they had - it's just that this speaker was not able to reproduce them. You can watch short movie nine minutes by dust on YouTube to catch the subtle differences.
It's ok to accentuate some feequencies (bass)but to remove some frequencies (in lower mid range) is unacceptable
Given it is 3kg and so much bigger than xb30 (1 kg) it produces may be a little more sound than xb30 but not by much. The sound signature is so hollow. Lot of times I am thinking there must be some more instruments than this speaker is reproducing.
Not at all recommended.
Trust me check this out against xtreme 2 or onyx studio 6 or bose revolve + in some store. Don't go by YouTube reviews.
I have given 2 stars so that the potential buyers don't ignore my review as a pissed of or biased user.

The problem is it breaks and drops a lot of times in the middle while playing songs from youtube on OnePlus 6T.. It's happening with the new replaced speaker as well.. It shouldn't happen for a speaker with Bluetooth 5.0 & at this price point.. I checked pairing with other mobiles as well and it still happens. Happens less when playing on laptop but still breaks many times enough to annoy us while watching a movie..
Just imagine you take this one for a party or any gathering and it keeps breaking while dancing or playing songs.. It will be so horrible and cheap and It's so not worth it..
Sound quality is the only thing which is good about this speaker. But still does not make the experience any better as it keeps breaking every now and then..
Volume is considerably low for movies. I am not satisfied with the volume while playing movies in Netflix or Amazon PrimeVideo.
Battery life sucks.. With lights on if you use it at 100% volume, you will not get a battery life more than a few hours. If you use at 60% volume, you will get around 5-6 hours.. Very much lesser than promised. As battery decreases below 30%, I observed the volume decreases on its own which is not at all good..
As it's a latest release and expected it to have better connectivity and battery.. But it disappoints me a lot.. I am still keeping it with me to compare with JBL-Charge 4. If sound quality matches or anywhere near by to it, I am going dump this sony speaker and buy a JBL-Charge 4.
