DOA. Sony support was less than helpful. They offered a RMA but I'll likely just return this item to the seller. I can't believe it doesn't work. Waste of time.

Pros:
1. Rich base for the price range,
2. Sound “quality” and loudness is good.

Cons:
1. Mediocre atmos effect and definitely not even comparable to actual surround sound.
2. But my biggest disappointment is the bar’s connection with sub-woofer. As so many other reviewers have mentioned that the connection keeps dropping. Surprisingly there is no way to connect the sub woofer via cable (I am really puzzled why has Sony even done that). If most of the users are telling you that your expensive (dumb and useless) wireless connection is not working then at least put a cheap wired connection option too. You will see that there is an option to create a secure link and blah blah but those things will not help you if you live in an apartment or if you have 2-3 people in your house.

Waste of money and definitely expected more from a mid-range speaker and from Sony. Btw it has not even been a month since I got this soundbar.

Rich full sound with amazing floor shaking sub.

This is one of the best Sound Bars Available in the Market, I think I had made good choice by choosing this soundbar.
I always knew Sony would produce quality products that lasts longer, but when it comes tothis, Sony was able to produce on par with other best brands available in this category.

This Product comes in three pieces, Soundbar, Subwoofer and Soundbar front cover.
Front cover can be attached easily to Soundbar as it has Magnets and it attaches perfectly.

I liked the Sound quality from this Soundbar, this perfectly syncs with Subwoofer and produces sound as if you were sitting in cinema theater.This is perfectly fits to High celling homes.

Set up was so easy and immediately started as soon as played the video.

This soundbar has 3 HDMI ports, one Analog port, one USB port along with it has bluetooth connectivity and WIFI capability.
one HDMI is for ARC in and others can be used for Blu-ray Players or any other HDMI capable devices such chromecast, firestick.
Soundbar has options for HDMI input on the back, with an HDMI (ARC) option on the back to connect to the TV. This allows you to turn the tv on with your normal remote.

Soundbar has clear Audio+,Sound Field, voice and night sound modes.

It works seamless while changing the sound modes. Liked the quality of the sound it perfectly suited for high ceiling roof.

Subwoofer automatically get sync with Soundba as soon as turned on the soundbar.

Using the 3D sound effect, living area comes alive with what sounds like have few speakers surrounded.

I recommend this product, though it is expensive product worth to spend.

This Sony sound bar is a very expensive sound bar because it provides very high quality sound. We were not disappointed (as we usually are not with Sony) at all after getting it all set up. Unlike other sound bars I have used this one makes it very easy to hear clearly in game chat and game cues while gaming. Great clear crisp sound during movies almost a surround sound quality without having to do the work of installing surround sound system. We love this sound bar and would highly recommend it to those who can afford and are wanting to upgrade to a better and simple to install sound system.

Sound bar is superb. Description said minor cosmetic damage. This showed up in all original packaging. Not a scratch or dent anywhere. It had been opened before and some of the EPS foam was broken from a previous unboxing? Every thing was all there. Original tape and foam paper on all components. Looks perfect to me. The cardboard box was dirty on the exterior. That was well worth the savings...did I say it sounds great. My neighbors are now enjoying it too! 5 stars with a smiley face. My face not an emoji.

Like other reviews. The subwoofer has distortion and it sounds like the sub is blown. Considering I purchased through 3rd party seller on amazon and I don’t have the original box I highly doubt I will be able to return it. Sucks to spend $1000+ for a system that doesn’t work. Amazon should ban this product until Sony fixes the subwoofer issue.

I am impressed with this unit. Having tried the prior brands, this one seems much superior. Set up was a breeze and this unit does have a very clean look. I love how it has so many options for hook up. Sound quality is amazing for such a small unit. Atmos is pretty amazing out of this unit. I just wish they would have made a little bit better remote for such an expensive unit. I have enjoyed streaming music to this unit and have amazed all my friends that this small of a unit can provide such clarity and so much volume.

The quality of the sound on this thing is outstanding. You start to seperate the good speaker systems from the great when you reach high volume levels. Good speakers still can put out distortion when the sound is turned way up, but this system does not distort or disappoint. Its pricey, and will not replace your 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound systems but its perfect for rooms where you will be watching tv/movie/listening to music but you dont want or can't put in a full surround sound system. The set up was easy, once my TV found the soundbar under my ARC discovery, and has been easy to navigate ever since. It really is a great soundbar and highly recommend it if you are in the market for one...and you have the means!

Brand new out of the box.....We had it working for a few minutes so we knew what it was capable of and for those few minutes it sounded rich and full. Right after that, the center channel stopped working...right out of the box!!!
It is sturdy and heavy and we were so very excited...we really wanted to like it, but with the center channel malfunctioning, we just can not recommend this. It truly is a huge disappointment. There seems to be quality issues.
It came in a very sturdy box with foam surrounding it. The box had not issues so I do not believe that it was damaged in transit. We had such high hopes that this would be the one we had waited for so long and at that price point we were fairly certain that it would be....but it just wasn’t.

Purchased 10/09/2019

Going on the past four days, my front drivers rattle with the sound output being produced. I've moved the system, turned the Db to the negative, and still no change. My subwoofer also intermittently goes in and out while watching movies or playing a game. It's past the time for me to return to Amazon to exchange for a new system, so I'll be contacting Sony. Not sure why a device which cost so much can have issues already. This is my third seperate Sony soundbar with no issues prior.

The soundbar was a very easy set-up. Sound is crisp and clear but very directional. Seems you have to be dead center in order to catch the full surround effect...may have to do with vaulted ceiling which starts at 7'6" up to 9'6". Overall a great listen.

These speakers have astounding sound. But it takes several hours a week to reconfigure, replug, and reset connections. It as bad at basic management as it is as beautiful sounding. At this price it is completely unacceptable to expect to spend so much on cajoling of what should be a straightforward product. I will *never* but any Sony product again after this experience.

This soundbar is exceptional. It is pricey but you get what you pay for. I used to have a 7.1 setup but moved to a space less conducive to that set up so I bought this to replace it. I get a better surround experience from the soundbar than I did from my individual speaker setup.

I could not be happier with my Sony ST5000. It completes our home theater and allows many functions. Don't listen to the other reviewers. It is a solid product that makes this technician happy :)

Amazing sound quality for a bedroom. I fell in love with movies, music and games all over again. The fact that it plays so many audio formats makes it so much worth it for me. Combined with my SONY A9G OLED TV, I have nothing to complain about when it comes to my home entertainment setup. SONY products have always lasted me a long time, so I expect this sound system won't be any different.

It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. I use it with a Sony 4K UHD TV, Cable, Ultra Blu-Ray, Apple TV 4K, and Roku 4K. It works great. I wish it offered wireless rear surround speakers, but it still delivers a good sound field.

I just returned this soundbar. First of all, it is a great sounding product and it supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. The height effect was very good and it was able to reflect sound off my cathedral ceiling. So why did I return it? It is very buggy. In the 2 weeks I owned it, I had to hard reboot it at least 4 or 5 times. There is either a manufacturing defect and/or buggy firmware. Basically, the display button stops working and then the unit also becomes sluggish and you can no longer go into certain settings and it doesn't switch between inputs smoothly, requiring multiple attempts. It received a new firmware while I owned it, but it did nothing to address these issues. The only way to get it working normally was to perform a hard reboot. That erased all the settings, so I would have to go back in and set it up again (things like speaker distances, input labels, etc). Also, one thing that bothered me was that the the unit had an auto-off/standy that took effect 1 hour after no use was detected. The problem is didn't work when bluetooth streaming music. I use the soundbar to play music at night to help me sleep. My previous Sony soundbar actually had a sleep setting and would turn off after a specified time. I was hoping this auto-off/standy setting would turn it off after my phone stopped streaming music, but it remained on, consuming electricity unnecessarily.
Sony has a great product hear, but it simply isn't ready for prime time. If you check various AV/AVSForums you will read about a number of users who have had to return this unit to sony to be repaired, but even after the repair, the problems persisted. I decided not to deal with this hassle and instead returned it back to the seller. Amazon made this process so easy and painless! Kudos to Amazon for having such great customer service.

Amazing sells transaction. Item listed as used had me 😟 worried about possible minor damages. The item was practically brand new. Seller also did an excellent job in shipping the item faster than Amazon Prime. Seller superceded all expectations. Thank You.

Surround sound and Dolby Atmos ineffective.

Sounds great, the bass is deep amd shakes the room nice. I can finally hear what everyone is saying in movies, no more trying to adjust settings to hear voices clearly. Very happy with purchase. It looks good too ! Happy !
