Bought this because I was planning to 'hot-seat' between my home laptop and that at work. The drive was easy to install, quick to load every time I used it and compact enough to fit even in a pocket. However, the cable is short and when I managed to nudge my laptop, it cause the hard drive to fall off the table. This was onto a lino floor and it bounced on the corner. Phew, the silicon corners did their job, or so I thought. When I picked it up something plastic inside was rattling around and a corner of the white plastic had a 20mm crack in it. The drive worked for the next couple of days and now is dead. Completely dead. A weeks worth of work lost. I am beyond any further words!

The unit failed. Contacting the support people who did ask questions to establish the unit no longer will connect to any PC. The result is a huge loss of personal data.
They have agreed to replace but this is a long process but will not result in data recovery. I am at a loss on how to recover the data.
I do not want to send the HDD away as it contains personal data .

There were issues with delivery of this item (not the sellers fault), this was resolved by the seller in a speedy and effective manner and is an example of good customer service. As for the drive, at first glance its impressive, looks shockproof and attractive and i like the way the USB cable is managed. Drive seems quite and fast and so far has presented no problems. After the drive has been in use for a few months i will update this review as necessary. Was it worth the money.... Yes it was.

Worked as soon as I connected it. I wanted to backup three computers, this did the job. Can't tell how fast it is as each computer was different. It copied data in speeds between 400MB to 1300MB per minute. Reliable, silent, easy to use, looks good. Very small, light weight, feels like it could be used as a football without coming to any harm - in other words rugged.. I would definitely buy this again.

Device works and protection appear adequate. Uses a different cable to other USB3 external drives so need to make sure one carries the requisite cable. It has a cable attachment to wrap the cable onto the device for easy carriage - except the first time I took off the cable a plastic grip part of that flew off as well and one might not expect it will soon the same will happen and the cable attachment will no longer be there. Poor design. For the moment though, am otherwise happy.

Bought this in january, has failed in october. Has spent entire time sitting on my desk. Only ocaisionaly plugged in. Went to do an interim backup today and drive made clicking noises and was not recognised. Tried other computers, got same result. Swapped lead, same result.
Stripped unit down (easy just 4 screws) and found a standard 2TB 2.5" drive inside. As a thought tested it in a wavelink docking station, and it works fine. Conclusion control electronics for enclosure failed. Poor value for 10 months.

Awesome, awesome and awesome! Great external Hard drive and wow the casing makes this almost indestructible! Feels like a very flexible, bouncy rubberized casing too, and that's before we consider the internal shock absorption. I don't know what else to say, other than, after my last hard drive broke after a tiny fall, I feel far more relaxed and at ease about a fall with this 'full metal jacket soldier!' - Water proof too, gosh these are so worth the extra money, which wasn't much extra really. - Recommended!

The reason I purchased is I wanted a durable portable back disk. Sadly my example failed within an hour of unboxing.
The product looks and feels as described . The rugged exterior exudes data protection. My fear, is that this is however only skin deep and that the disk below is not up to the same build standard as the case. I may have been unlucky so I'd recommend reading other reviews to see if this is a common theme,
On a practical note the connection to the disk is "USB 3 A" (i.e. the connection cable at each end has a two identical male USB plugs). This isn't an issue, but it is different from most other portable USB drives I've used.
Will I be getting another one? No, I ordered a WD drive instead, its case is not as "rugged" but I have many working examples still going after years of use. I liked the product concept but I didn't buy a hardened case for a fragile disk.

After 2 weeks of use I definitly give 5 stars.
5 stars to Xtra team costumer service (which I contacted for more produt specs), to amazon
(to the safeness about contacting the seller) and to the delivery.
I have passed 176 Gigasbytes, at once one time, in just 36 minutes with a speed average 105Mb/sec. It reached 150Mb/sec.
Big video files reaches 150Mb/sec.
Audio (10Mb) files goes around 100Mb/sec.
Images and other files, like a folder with many loose files it doesn't goes lower than 78Mb/sec.
Prety amazing!
In two weeks I have passed (images, audio and video files) almost 1 Terabyte (5 to 6 hours to do all that) and so far
the HDD external is indeed 2Tb.
The 2Tb SP works perfeclty with Windows 8.1 on my Asus ROG G56JR CN234H, USB 3.0 port.
It is beautiful and it's thinner and lighter then my former 1Tb disk of Iomega bought 5 years ago in Fnac for 119€ (~ 100£),
which gave me problems when I started to use it on my new laptop with windows 8.1.
I'll update this review in two weeks from now and from than on each month. Just to help clear minds and to be sure.

Quite fast and neat but the trouble with these reviews is that they take place after only a couple of weeks off ownership. The real test will be is it still working in a year's time!

If you have files that are larger than 4gb you will need to reformat the disc before you use it. Apart from that seems to work well. But discs can just go wrong even if they have not been dropped on the floor!!

Quite a bit of storage at 2Tb, although it's probably easy enough to fill up, nowadays - where does all storage capacity go? Using windows 10 and USB 3 you will probably have to go into disk management to get it recognised, but this is an easy enough task; after that it works like a dream.

This is a great little drive with 1TB of space. It's compact, solid, speedy and has so far proved true to its shockproof credentials - it's has a couple of knocks and not lost any data, unlike a more expensive one I got last year which lost tons after one small scrape. I've traveled with this drive a lot and it's been nothing but reliable and I've never been able to say that 100% about a drive of this side before, so can definitely recommend.

Excellent product for the price. Casing feels solid, and read times are great so far. Bought as a replacement for an older drive that was running low on space. (The perils of having a large music collection). Again excellent product for the price and delivery was spot on. Would recommend.

Durable, Shockproof? well I haven't tested that out but here I am less than 4 months into ownin this product and actually using it for only half that time and the unit is failing. Just copying some music as a back up and the head is clicking - a sure sign of imminent failure.

Bought to back up AVHD camcorder footage. I was concerned that it would be a problem with compatability as there is online discussions about AVHD footage causing problems. Not with this hard drive, it was plug and play and I just copied and pasted and the job was done. I am so pleased that it was not the performance I was expecting.

Bought in August, it performed great and I was so pleased, used a lot just at home but has now failed and keeps crashing and making noise, tried a different lead but still not working :-( I've only used it at home so would really question the durability out and about. Lost loads of photos and not happy.

I actually bought another drive from this same brand a few months ago, and it's been working fine but then I got a bigger one to backup the first one and copied the old drive to the new one. Instantly, both drives now don't work, and stopped loading. I just see a red light and nothing appears on the screen at all. I've lost thousands of images, videos and memories. They've got no support center in the UK and there's nothing I can do. AVOID

Delivery was quick. I backed up my drive onto this, put it on the shelf. 3 months later when it was needed. It was dead for no reason at all.

I needed a little rugged drive to backup some machines. This fits the bill perfectly splash proof, shockproof, and with a 3 year warranty.
It seems pretty quick for a little drive, so more than happy.

Does what it says on the tin 2TB disk drive in a rugged silicon case. ~The USB cable clips around the edge and this is the only poor point because the little black cable grips can come out and get lost. Other than that works just great. I have used mine all around the world.

After a few months of use, sensible use I might add, the rubber strap that prevents the cable from getting lost is damaged and could snap at any time, but more worryingly the back cap has becomed unglued in places. This is neither dust proof or water proof, and before you think otherwise, no the hard drive has not been dropped. Lately it will not connect properly, seems that the connection is loose and my laptop will read it after playing around with the usb cable.
Really disappointed.

Nice and neat unit that works quite well. The case is tough but flexible and gives good shock protection. My only quibble is the very short data cable which is at times inconvenient. Otherwise this external hard drive is great value.
