Provide cloning software without stupid activation codes
What is wrong with these companies. I downloaded the cloning software from the silicon power website. It reverts to the NTI Echo Software download which requires a serial number to be installed. The rediculous thing is that none of the numbers printed on the drive including the "Verification code" work with that software. The work around is to get a trial copy from some other software company to do the job. But keep in mind, one only needs to clone a drive one time, so why do I have to go through that trouble to use a work around. Silicon Power should provide a cloning software just like Samsung does workout those "Serial number" gimmicks. Take a look management to fix this issue.....

Great Speed
I was at the point of throwing out my laptop, an HP ProBook 450 i7 dual core, 8GB RAM, 750gb HDD with Win 10 installed. Always freezing up, takes 10 minutes or more to boot, rebuilt twice within one month. Very frustrating... I wanted to buy a Macbook instead. At the last minute I decided to replace HDD with this Silicon Power 1TB SSD. So far, I am very impressed. Now my computer performs at top speed and boots up in less than 10 seconds, I use extra time saved to text my girlfriend, ha ha.

Worked as expected. 4 star on Longevity because it works, but I just have 2 days with it
I bench marked it under Windows and Linux and I got 10-15x on some tests, but over 50x on random read v SSHD. I'll give it a 5 on longevity after I've run the two drives for several months with no issues. Benchmarks on Linux,

Silicon Power's Ace A55 SSD is a contender.
I needed a new SSD with which to install Windows 10 Pro and I was looking for a good price on a sizable volume SSD and I decided to give Silicon Power a try. I was not disappointed, SSD's as a whole are smaller than I expected them to be, but the speed in read and write operations is unrivaled. The Silicon Power Ace A55 uses SLC (single cell layer cache) which is the top tier of the SSD cache set (SLC <-> MLC <-> TLC <-> QLC), so I knew this SSD would be quick. I will continue to use the Silicon Power A55 and report any issues that may arise.
Also, when you do install your SSD look around online, and find the various guides to optimize your SSD for longevity.

Amazing value for necessary SSD storage
For 1 TB of storage for a measly $95, it is quite hard to find another product for this value. I have 2 of these bad bois in my current build and it's wonderful.
Boot times are nearly non-existent, loading into games is extremely short and sweet. Coming from HDD, this product will blow your mind.
There are other big hitters in the market like Western Digital and Samsung, but they are all the more pricey. After reading reviews on the quality and value of the product, I chose 1 for beginning my build and quickly purchased another for another TB of storage.
You won't get RGB lighting or other fancy features with this SSD, but you will get a great drive for a great price, period.

SP 1T SSD vs HP HGST 1T SATA HD
My HP laptop came with a HP HGST 1T 5400 rpm hard drive. The transfer rate of this HP hard drive is labeled with 6 G/s. It is pretty fast. I thought about to upgrade this HP laptop with a SSD drive few years ago. Due to the price was high I didn't upgrade the hard drive. Recently saw this SP 1T SSD with 3D NAND and fast cache under $94. I give it a try, and it came today. Drop it into my HP laptop and it does not wait a moment and it loaded a Windows 10 with my recover USB thumb drive in few minutes. Fast, quiet, and happy about it. Everything runs faster on my laptop, downloading, internet, Windows 10 Operating System, MS Office, pdf, video, jpg...etc. What else do you need and why should I wait?

1 TB SSD for a great price
I have probably bought all the major brands of SSDs, and for everyday use, these from Silicon Power have performed flawlessly. The price is better than the competition and the drives perform as expected. I haven't had one fail yet in several years of use. I edit video using these as the source and destination drives for the files. No issues or problems and the writes are very quick. The reads are almost instantaneous compared to the spinning disks I used to use. If you are trying to extend the life of an older laptop - I recommend them for the job. We have two laptops each over 6 years old that are still going strong with these Silicon Power drives.

Good drive if that will be your only drive running or a good external drive
I Bought it for my computer desktop I built a few years ago running a I7 processor 16 GB ram Windows 10 Professional
I cloan everything over it works for a while and then it Blue Screens and it will not stay up on Windows for very long now for the drive itself accessing files that are not to an operating system better hooked up externally it's a good drive just don't have any mechanical hard drive we're running at the same time and you'll be okay I'm an IT professional.

Fast Drive
Excellent SSD, is very fast (not intended for Server applications), but on a desktop, laptop, or backup drive, it s a little rocket. I do large BIM and 3D CAD Drawings, and software is always having a trip up about something, so I Auto Save my work efforts every 3 minutes, this drive is so fast, I never know it is happening. Retrieving a large file (18-20 Mb) takes no time at all. Now that I have tried it, I wish that I had bought the 2 or 3 Tb unit !

Great Price.... No issues.
Easy to install. So far so good. Still the best price for a somewhat name brand SSD. Using it as my Steam game library drive as my Samsung 960 Evo M.2 500 GB boot drive was filling up fast. For things like games, they do not really seem to take advantage of the faster NVME M.2 and I cant notice any difference in loading times.
*** Update 2/13/19 I have been using the 1 TB version since I purchased it in June 2018. It is not my boot drive as I have a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB NVME for OS and quick boots. I have been using this as my Steam drive and it has so far worked flawlessly. The price is fair and it is more than fast enough for my games. It is about 75% full now and am considering a second one. 2TB drives are still a little too pricey for me. Since my case has room for up to 5 SSD's I may get another. I am surprised at the poor reviews since most drives in this price range (exept Samsung) most likely use Micron 3d TLC and a Silicon Motion SM2258XT (or similar) controller. These are pretty standard components used in a reasonably priced SSD. What I'm saying is like most SSD's Silicon Power doesn't even make the most important parts. I guess it's always possible to get a lemon, but I would assume most of the bad reviews are more likely due to user/installer error. Also some of the slow reported speeds are likely due to people mirroring their old spinning drive to this and not understanding that they are mirroring a Windows setup not optimized for a SSD but for a old fashioned HD. If they do t understand this they would be better off spending a little extra time and doing a fresh Windows install. I wouldn't select this drive if your doing a ton of writing and re-writing as this drive will slow down when writing huge files, but is way faster than Steam download speeds. I use it for downloading my games and just leave then there. The read speeds are pretty much as fast as a SATA drive can do which is what I wanted. Lots of block address retired
Been getting lots "The IO operation at logical block address 0x??????? for Disk ? (PDO name: \Device\000000??) was retried" warnings in computers using these as the Windows "C: " (OS System) drive. Will replace them soon with other other brands that only cost a little bit more but have never shown these error.
All laptops and desktops have the current, correct BIOS/UEFI, with SMART drive enable. These disk errors have nothing to with the computer. Disk moved around between 5 computers and the warning errors on show for these specific brand of SSD. Other brands of SSD and HDD (7200 rpm) all work fine in 50+ computers.

Hit or miss, you get what you pay for
SP has been hit or miss for me. I've bought a few of these SSDs of various sizes. I had one outright die on me after approximately a year. The one I have now keeps losing space, I guess it's trimming? But it's closing in on 200GB on a 1TB drive that I can't access.
It was nice at the time to save $10 or $15 or whatever at the time, but going forward I'm going to be looking for a more prominent brand that's more reliable. I can't outright say Silicon Power is bad or you should not buy it, but my personal feeling is this is definitely a case of you get what you pay for.

What the hell, it mounts upside down!
Just built a gaming rig and bought this for less intensive game storage alongside a different brand NVMe. This SP SSD mounts upside down! Totally kills the aesthetic of the design (through tempered glass). Not sure who’s idea that was but they should definitely reconsider.
Load And write times are pretty fast. Coming from someone who has had nothing but 5400/7200rpm HDDs throughout the years, this definitely is an SSD and I don’t doubt that there are faster ones available, but this one is fast enough and was worth the price other that the strange design.

Great upgrade to increase laptop speed
I heard that upgrading from standard HDD to SDD would give you a good performance boost. Wow! I have now upgraded 4 laptops for my home and business and can't believe how much faster these drives make your overall computer use experience. My personal Dell laptop went from a 8 min 47 sec boot time to opening Microsoft Outlook to less than 58 seconds. I'm not kidding. Task manager used to show my disk usage at 100% for long periods of time. Not any more. I used to dread the messages that I needed to reboot to install new updates because I would have to reboot and walk away for a half hour for everything to settle down. Now I don't even mind. If you have a standard HDD, don't fuss with memory or try to tweak your operating software - upgrade to a SDD.

Great SSD so far! Perfect for budget builds.
Got this for my gaming pc that I bought off a friend. He used his old drive, so I had to get a new one and install it in the old build he sold me. Decided to go with all SSD because for 1TB, the price of this wasn’t bad at all. Boots super fast and was recognized by the motherboard, etc right away. No problems installing windows to it. Drive speeds are fast and I haven’t noticed any slow down of anything due to the drive itself. It doesn’t have the absolute highest speeds for sata SSD, but for this price, the speeds are great! I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks so far, so I can’t say anything on the longevity of it, but I’ll update if anything changes. Doesn’t seem to get too hot or anything either. I was originally looking at a Samsung EVO 860 at first because of how reliable and good reputation Samsung has and I was a bit worried to get such a smaller named SSD, but so far, I really don’t have any complaints. And this was at least $50-60 cheaper than the Samsung one.

Mine crashed after 2 months
I bought it for my son for Christmas to use with his Xbox. He unplugged it to travel to a friend's house but when he turned it back on, it was corrupted. I called customer support and followed their directions. They were very helpful, but finally decided that it needed to be replaced. The return process was fairly easy and we got a new product within a couple weeks.

Best Bang For Your Buck
If you're looking to upgrade your old standard Hard Disk Drive to a Solid State Drive, especially if you're looking to dramatically improve the speed of your computer / laptop, then this is a very good entry into faster storage. The performance is more than satisfactory and anyone who has never used a Solid State device in the past will be blown away. For the price, I can highly recommend this SSD to anyone, but again, especially to those skeptical of the usefulness of these drives.

I purchased 2 of these and they are working well as my cache drives in my unraid server. The only complaint I have is that it seems they don't have a real temperature readout. Like someone else said in the comments, both of my drives constantly say they are at 104 F. I had them in a room where all other discs were reporting in the 70's F and these discs weren't even in active read or write and were still reporting 104 F. Even when working the disks with large data transfers the temperature never changes. Not a huge deal, but I do find it odd that they would have a fake temperature readout. Took 1 star off just because of the false temperature reporting.

Replaced a HDD with write times & read averaging around 105mgb ps, and PC computer startup time averaging 1min & 20sec.. Now PC startup is within 15sec and Read & Write average in 530mgb sec, and changing to another Program, is at least twice as fast.. This type of storage device crashing, is Very unlikely, no moving parts..

Great SSD, usually.
I warn you now, that this is a negative review of sorts. I purchase a lot of silicon power SSD's. By a lot, I mean I have purchased over 40 in the last 2 years. I have never had one fail on me yet, until now. I purchase mostly the 256gb models, a few 512gb's, and far fewer of the 1tb models. Of all of them, that I have purchased, only the 1tb model has ever failed me. It was in fact a great drive, for quite nearly, exactly one year. I purchased this SSD (1 TB model), on September 8th, 2018, and it was installed on September 12th, 2018. It ran fine until September 1, 2019. At which point, it began doing weird things.
It first showed it's failure, by causing me kernel errors in windows. Running a quick look at it in SP Toolbox, showed drive Life, at 99%, so I believed all was well with the SSD. It also, threw no SMART errors. However, nothing would permanently delete from the drive and no programs would uninstall. I could install programs, or add data, but remove nothing. That is to say, I could do so, if Windows 10 didn't throw a Kernel error, before I finished an installation. I thought maybe a virus or spyware was causing it, so I tried to run a few tools I use regularly in my I.T. business. None of them could complete a scan, before a Kernel error crashed Windows. So, I then tried to use SFC, outside of Windows, to check system files. It told me the drive was locked. So, next I decided to clone the SSD to a spare 1 TB 2.5" SATA, that I had lying around from one of my many SSD upgrades I do. The drive cloned flawlessly, from outside of Windows, using HD Clone 6, and the system booted right up off the new drive. No more kernel errors, no problems at all, except for it being a much slower drive.
Anyway, I guess I have run into the problem of certain SSD's, where the drive becomes Read Only, which is what appears to have happened this SSD.. I ran SP Toolbox again, this time with wear out count, and it showed bad blocks, that it recognized. 132 new bad blocks, with 11436 to spare. Bad blocks, are much like bad sectors on an HD. All drives end up with some bad blocks, that the OS then prevents from use, but can also be an indicator of immanent drive failure, depending on the count. But in running a quick test, it came up with a message, ERROR BLOCK FOUND: 1546.
Anyway guess I will RMA the SSD. Sorry to be so long winded, but, I thought any potential purchasers might like to know, that this particular drive, the 1 TB model, is the only one I've had trouble with. I will let you know in a follow up, if SP is bad at supporting an RMA, since I've never needed to RMA one of their drives. If they are good, no follow up needed. I've included some pics of the diagnostics for those who care,

Poorly made, Doesn't last very long
Installed this in my computer was super happy at first. Within about a month I started getting a blue screen of death with an error code that comes up with a failure in the hard drive.
Looking at other reviews this brand sucks lasting very long, wish I would have taken those reviews into stronger account before I purchased this drive

FireWire compatibility
I purchased a Silicon Power A55 SSD (1TB). I'm temporarily using the A55 to boot a 2015 MacBook Pro. The A55 boots up the MacBook Pro when connected via a USB to SATA connection, but the behavior is different when using a FireWire cable to SATA connection. Via FireWire to SATA cable, the Mac boots part way up, but then a circle with a slash appears across the screen. I filed a support ticket with Silicon Power and am waiting to hear back. Until then, I'm holding with 3 stars unless SP's support staff can resolve this situation.

The reason why I got this drive was, The hard drive in my dell desktop was starting to fail and I had to a replacement for it. So I got the Silicon Power 1TB SSD 3D NAND A55 SLC Cache Performance Boost SATA III 2.5" 7mm and I cloned the os to it. The Silicon Power runs much faster than the original drive. I don't know about Gaming since I don't use this pc for gaming. The Silicon Power 1TB SSD 3D NAND A55 SLC Cache Performance Boost SATA III 2.5" 7mm works for me and what I do.

Hands down the best value.
I bought it pretty certain it was going to be good. From my research, it uses Samsung parts, can't verify that. Given its performance I'd say that is an accurate statement. I get close to 350MB reads, and 300MB writes. It makes the boot times on my computer from the power button push to useable boot (including steam loading, and other boot programs.) like ten to twenty seconds. I love it.
If there is a 2 TB version I'd upgrade to it.

Made my PC 2x Faster
My current PC has a high spec for gaming and outputs a lot of power. This in turn made my boot up from my hard drive very slow and application boot up laggy and slow.
I used Macrium Reflect to transfer over all my HDD data to my new SSD and after about 7 hours, all my data was copied over. I then booted with the BIOS and set the SSD as the primary boot up option. Right after that, my PC restarted and opened up to the windows lock screen page about twice as fast. There was no lag when inputting my pin and my desktop loaded instantly after. Immediately after, I am able to load google or any other application and it loads in just a few seconds, RIGHT AFTER A FRESH BOOT UP. WOW.
This SSD has dramatically increased the speed of my PC and is definitely the best computer part investment I've made. For $85, I was able to drastically increase the boot up of my pc, applications, and browsing in general. Oh, also I have an extra TB of space too which is very nice. Excellent product with simple installation.

Does the job, performs like high end ssd's
Surprisingly this item has a plastic hardcase, very light weight, it is easy to install as primary or just for storage, systems recognize inmediatly. In performace speaking, it has the specs posted here, is really fast and show improvements on every process you work on it like most of recognize brands ssd's. I would recommend this item based on performance, first time testing this brand, about to find out durabilty. Btw my temps are 40c idle even though i have a dedicated fan in front of my case, under load for some reason remains the same. Hope this help users like me using this brand for the first time.

Exactly what I was looking for at a price better than I expected
Keeping in mind most ratings are personal opinion and unless stated otherwise, they are not benchmark comparisons; my review is no different. It may not be stellar speed compared to higher-end SSD drives but adding a 1TB SSD storage drive (not boot) for under $100 is amazing, I couldn’t be happier with the purchase! I’m moving my gaming files to this drive and I have not noticed any performance differences from my EVO SSDs, great value!!!

Failed after 9 months
Not much to review, worked great until it didn't. A few days ago I started seeing the drive suffer intermittent IO errors. Moved it to another SATA port, and then into an external enclosure to test and yes, the drive was failing and finally today is dead-dead.
Won't be buying this junk again.

Great price for a 1TB SSD
I'm using this in a windows 10 pc for media files (ProRez 422HQ, CineForm, DNxHD, h264 mp4). It worked well for 5k, 4k, UHD and HD 1080p media at half rez viewing, without rendering, in Adobe Premiere. I can't speak for the longevity of the product, but I've had other well known brand SSD drives fail in the first few days to weeks. So far zero issues.

Good for now...Let's see how things go.
This SSD turned an old Dell Optiplex 3010 in a fast booting, usable desktop in 2020. I am only a few days into the upgrade (from a mechanical HDD); so, only time will tell if the SSD will last. The warranty set-up was fast an easy: I wet to their web site, they ask for two codes on the package, the product name, your email, and it will cover you for "three years (as they claim). IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG, I'LL UPDATE MY REVIEW. Thank you for reading!

great SSD
I bought the 1TB SP SSD after checking reviews and watching prices for couple months. Decided on the SP brand mainly due to price. Installed end of June. Paid $180. Used Acronis to clone old 2TB mechanical drive to new 1TB SP and been working great for 2 months now. System boots faster and very happy with performance. Ended up deleting the old OS off the 2TB drive and only use it for videos, and user files.

This drive is the king of slow writes ... effective write speed has a record value of about 10MB/s, this means that you need to wait about 3+ hours co copy 100GB of data. In my test, this is about 6 times slower than an equivalent Samsung or WD SSD which claim 500MB/s but effectively do 60 MB/s.

Great hard drive but difficult software
The hard drive itself was great. Easy installation. I purchased this hard drive because it came with partitioning software however, it was difficult figuring out how to get the software downloaded and installed from the website. Even after finally figuring out where to download it, the software itself would crash during the cloning of my previous drive. I ended up buying a different software suite. The only reason for four stars is because the software it comes with does not work correctly. Other than, excellent hard drive and great value for the money.

Silicon Power A55 Not Worth Your Time Or Money, Slow Read And Write Speeds Compared To Others
Just got one, Read and Write speeds suck big time Read 255 Write 289;
Should of just went with the Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, I have 3 of them, (2) 1TB, and (1) 2TB, at least they read and write at over 500mb

Good for older laptop replacements, not so much for desktops!
If you are upgrading an older laptop or desktop that doesn't have M.2 SSD slots, then it's just fine. However, for newer systems I wouldn't recommend. Just like other SATA drives, it just doesn't have the speed to justify it.
But even 10 year old laptops, I would recommend. Will do wonders for your productivity, just remember to clone your existing drive to the SSD, so you don't loose any of your settings or files.

My old PC is much faster now
My PC was 5 years old and my son was complaining about how slow it was. I cloned the old hard drive onto this SSD and WOW what a difference. I reformatted my old drive as extra storage but the SSD is doing all the operating system (windows 10) work).
The only problem I had was getting windows to recognize the drive but it was my issue not the drives (some of the YouTube videos seem to skip this step). All good now, I ordered a 2nd on for another PC

Blazing fast
Installed this SSD in a 7 year old Dell laptop that I thought was finished because it was taking 8-9 minutes just to start. Incredibly, startup and shutdown now take less than a minute. And - everything else is much quicker. Love it. BTW, there are tutorials on YouTube on how to do the installation - not a simple job. Don't know about longevity, time will tell, most opinions say 5-10 yrs for SSD's. They do wear out.

Speed at an affordable price.
This drive is very affordable and easy to install. I’ve installed several Silicon SSDs on several PCs and I’ve not had any issues or drive failures. My computer boots up fast, as if it were a tablet. It is one of the most cost effective upgrades.

Solid drive
I've bought three different SSDs with various capacities from Silicon Power. All are solid. This 1TB drive replaced a 2TB platter drive in my aging Dell laptop. Boot up is nearly instant. I'm no longer looking to replace my laptop

Perfect speed for Booting and Running Windows from an External Drive
I was able to clone 300 GB including Windows onto the drive in about 30-45 minutes to create a separate work and play boot environments. Drive is stable and has plenty of space for an additional Linux install in the drive with 512GB for windows and linux each. Using a USB 3.0 2.5" SATAIII enclosure I now have a dual boot method without compromising my base system. I'm looking forward to being able to focus on either getting things done or enjoying time off.

Spotty Performance
I bought this drive to keep games on to speed up boot times and keep the rest of my drives game free. For some reason it will randomly take forever to load and get stuck on load screens in numerous games. This happens on any game that I put on this drive. Sometimes this drive operates fast for me, other times it will basically freeze up for minutes at a time. I'm not sure what the issue is.

I LOVE that the drive formats to 1.02Tb unlike just about every other brand on the market that formats to around 960Gb
Not the fastest SSD I own, but for a PLEX box that runs 24/7/365 it's perfect

Great SSD at a great price!
After getting this drive installed in a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop, installing Windows 10 went flawlessly and the laptop owner immediately noticed an improvement in system performance. This drive might not be as fast as the Samsung SSDs, but they perform great, at a great price point. This is the second Silicon Power SSD I've installed and I'll definitely consider installing more.

Great Value SSD's
These 3D NAND SSD's from Silicon Power are a great value. They perform very well, comparable to the name brands, and they cost 10% to 20% less. Ease of installation is, of course, dependent on the machine you're putting it in (most newer laptops are quite difficult to open), but any time you replace a mechanical drive with an SSD, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Using Multiple drives in Linux
I have a linux machine that I moved from mechanical drives to two of these 1tb SSD's. Performance improvement was noticeable and no issues with thee drives. Satisfied for the price of these drives and the performance increase. I run QEMU/KVM for running virtual machines on one drive and the OS and personal data on the other. Couldn't be happier with the improvement of performance on my desktop. I cloned the mechanical drives to the SSD's using Clonezilla.

It is very slow when it's working well and worse when it is acting up. I'm often waiting a few minutes when I save a 300K file to it. I am now shopping for another one because I can't stand the time waiting anymore. I've been dealing with it for 17 months and I just can't take it anymore. This is going into the trash once I can transfer.
