Definitely a great deal!
I was going to buy the Crucial brand instead, but this has not dissapointed me. Super fast on my PS4 Pro and I'm not noticing any slow downs when it's near full capacity!
No extra formatting needed, pop it into the ps4 and let it take care of things from there. The initial set up is slow BEFORE it asks to initialize, but after that it's super snappy!

Does not work with PS4
Might be a good Hard drive, I'm going to try it out in my PC, but it does not work on PS4 (didn't try on PS4 Pro). I kept getting CE-33566-3 error. Swapping the hard drive with a different one worked.

Used in a high-performance build
In a new high-performance build computer, I installed two SSDs. One from Kingston (A400), a well-known brand, and one from Silicon Power (SP), who I had never heard of. Benchmarks are showing that the SP drive blows the Kingston out of the water when it comes to write speeds. Read speeds are comparable. See attached for the UserBenchmark result for my SP drive.

Not the correct drive
I’m still in the process of having a refund of the items, but I don’t know who is responsible for my problem. I purchased 2 of the 1TB model, and got 2 128GB. Since where I live it’s a bit difficult to return items to Amazon and even with free shipping, there’s another process for me that adds extra cost for a delivery, it’s even more frustrating for me. It’s a shame, since I also bought an 512GB and that arrived with the correct amount of storage and it worked great. Writing this for people to be aware of this. Making this a 2 star review because of the problem but not a 1 star to not hurt it too much since it’s a great price for the amount of storage it provides.

Great hard drive
I replaced a 1 TB mechanical hard drive with this 1 TB SSD & wow....my laptop works much better! I have got SSDs from Silicon Power for several years and had very good luck with their hard drives. My laptop now boots up so much faster & responds somewhat faster also. It was easy to install and after I installed this SSD in my laptop & installed Windows 10...it was all ready. 5 stars.

all SSDs are the same regardless of brands.
In one thing I agree, SSD is superior to any HDD. the writing is slow, it has constant drops of up to 15 mbps. I want it for heavy data, not light. I do not recommend this to people who are going to transfer heavy data. I am not satisfied with this product.

Terrible included cloning software
The NTI Echo cloning software included with the drive does not work. After registration you receive a link to download the software and a serial number. The problem is, the serial number does not activate. It is always reporting that the computer needs an internet connection despite that not being the problem. The optional telephone activation does not work either. There is no one to pick up the phone.

Quick and Easy
Quick and easy installation. Size of the drive is great and its really nice not having to worry about the issues you usually have with a HD like the head alignment and cylinder issues. Put two of these in my 2011 macbook pro along with a ram upgrade and it runs faster/more efficient than my wife's 2018 macbook pro. Great value for the price and would 100% recommend.

1TB - Model A55 / 2.5 SDD
I directly copied over my O.S. (Operating system) from a mechanical Hard drive (HD) to the SSD using Macrium Reflect. The boot time of Windows 10 / 64-bit is never "speedy" {even with the SSD - about 20-25 seconds from BIOS logo to windows login}.

The noticeable speed difference will come when you launch bulky applications like: Photoshop, games, photos, etc. Boot time will vary depending on different factors.

The Silicon SDD speeds are the same as the Samsun 860 EVO 1TB (Up to 550/520MB/s seq read/write speeds). My tests are showing A55-1TB Silicone SSD with 550/440MB/s (screenshot posted with this review). My speeds are not tested with an "Empty" drive the A55/SSD was tested with a fully functioning OS on it (20% of the drive filled during testing). This is a fast drive at a reasonable price.

IF, anything should occur with the hard drive over a period of time I will return to update this review (if possible). I am using three different variants of the Silicone SSD: 1TB, 480GB, and 256GB. (desktop, laptop, desktop) All three SSD drives are meeting or exceeding their competition's speeds.

A note to all Windows users, please change your advance settings / hard disk timeout in your control panel unless you don't care about very noticeable lag spikes when you open or launch applications/documents. This is under "control panel", top right search box type "power", left window "Edit power plan". "Change advanced power settings", Expand "Hard disk" by clicking on the + symbol to the left of it. Click on the + symbol to the left of "turn off hard disk after", click on "Setting" change to 0 minutes. (do this for M.2/NVME/SSD) otherwise you will wonder why your highspeed drive is acting "slow".

UPDATE: I have now purchased about 5 Silicon SSD (2.5) drives. ALL 5 are still working very well 5 months in. I have done speed tests on a few of them every month (I have multiple sizes: 256, 512, 480, 1TB) The speeds are stable. Meaning you will get a slight variation (either faster or slow) in the speed test numbers but nothing dramatic. If you are concerned about data loss, get a second hard drive (mechanical if you wish). Go get Macrium Reflect, home edition, and you can make a direct copy of your OS boot drive into an image file. Macrium is a UK based software company that has powerful free (home edition) software. YouTube has wonderful videos on how to do this, very simple. Remember to buy a USB stick (2GB more than enough) to make a media boot for recovery purposes.

Took the drive out and it is not recognizable on a PC to try to chkdsk it. Looked at it with recovery Seatools recovery tools and it is just a bunch of random data segments. I won't even bother to RMA it as how can I trust a replacement after the rodeo you have to go through to RMA it.

OOPS!! MY MISTAKE!!! DRIVE IS (NOT) DEAD! My PC stopped assigning it a DRIVE LETTER!
****TO ALL PEOPLE WITH A 'FAILED DRIVE' OR 'DRIVE NOT FOUND' ERROR, PLEASE READ**** ---> It turns out that this drive did NOT fail after all - all of the data was intact . WHAT HAPPENED WAS that for some reason my HP laptop decided it was going to have a BIOS fault and stopped assigning letters to the drives!! I was able to get the machine running again and I ultimately resolved this issue by connecting it to a working computer as an external drive and I used WINDOWS DISK MANAGEMENT CONSOLE (right click on MY COMPUTER) and I was able to MANUALLY RE-ASSIGN THIS DRIVE A DRIVE LETTER. If any of you are having this problem, PLEASE CHECK THIS ISSUE FIRST. To the drive's credit, it worked perfectly and was 100% intact after the drive letter issue was resolved. I AM LEAVING THE REVIEW I ORIGINALLY WROTE (below) TO HELP OTHERS PINPOINT A SOLUTION in case this is their issue. BTW - The only reason I discovered that the drive still had it's data is that I was squeamish about returning a drive that potentially might still have some of my data on it - so I used my EASE-US data recovery software on the drive (just in case, figuring it wouldn't work very well on a failed SSD). SURPRISE! all the data was there --------------- ****Also KUDOS TO AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR GIVING ME THE OPTION TO RETURN THIS DRIVE FOR A REFUND HAD I CHOSEN TO DO SO**** ---------> here is my original review: ----------------> Bought this SSD in october 2018. This morning 1-13-2019 PC would not boot up. "Drive not found" error. Confirmed via removing drive and connecting it to 2 other computers via USB drive carrier - drive not found. Because this is a SSD there is no hope of retrieving any data via usual procedure with software like EASEUS data recovery software. I am screwed. I am going back to traditional mechanical drives. This drive led a pampered life - installed in my hp laptop which spent all its life indoors on top of a fan forced air cooling pad. I LOST MY $ AND MY DATA. I have other SSDs I've had for years with no problems. There were no negative reviews when I bought this - there are plenty now.

Not compatible with Linux?
Have tried to install Linux (Mint 19) on the drive but things don't go right after installation. Using the default ext4 filesystem, after the OS runs for a random period of time ( few hours to a day), the filesystem gets marked as read-only and you have to reboot. Running a filesystem check from the OS installation media doesn't show any problems. Decided to format it NTFS in a Windows computer and it formatted just fine. SP tools on Windows didn't show any problems either. Ended up ordering a Western Digital SSD and Linux installed just fine and has had no issues. I guess I'll put something on it that isn't important in case it decides to not like running in a Windows system.

Great price, if you want a month of storage
Initially i ordered this 1tb ssd for $152.99, it was a great price for a product i assumed would be of good quality for my build. I assumed wrong, as I have only had my custom rig running for a little over a month and the drive has already failed. I have a full custom built pc running 1 samsung ssd as my prime for os, 2 SP ssd's for game storage, and 1 WD 2tb for my backup. The only drives still working, you guessed it, are the ones that dont have SP stamped on their foreheads. I have had no issue in the past with this brand for the many computers i have repaired for customers, but certainly have now and am beyond frustrated. Hopefully i can get my money back for this thing.

So.. here it is... i was a little leary... this is at time of purchase around $50ish lower than other 1TB ssds. So i was expecting it to be slower than a typical ssd. It is a little slower. Still faster than a HDD. So far so good... people in the reviews say it failed for them after around 2 months or so. So far mine hasn't failed. I wouldn't call it the best SSD but so far it is working well for me.

Does not stay recognized by computer during normal use.
The hard drive I got was able to be formatted and used as either an internal or external SSD. However, during normal usage, such as copying videos and other files to the hard drive and reading them back from the SSD, the drive unfailingly either shuts off of its own accord or my computer just disconnects it and the SSD is not recognized in device manager or hard disk partition until I physically disconnect and reconnect it restart my computer. My SSD typically gets disconnected at around 30-45 minutes of transferring about 50-100 GB of data. I can't help but notice that whenever it suddenly shuts off/stops being recognized by my computer, the Silicon Power SSD is always very warm to the touch, so I suspect it automatically shuts off to prevent heat damage. And though I've tried, I could'nt figure out how to limit the read and write speeds of this SSD to try to prevent this automatic shut off/disconnection.

I wanted to be sure the drive was faulty and that its performance wasn't how SSD's were supposed to perform, since this was the first SSD I had ever bought due to it being the cheapest price at the time of purchase ($149.99 when I bought it, but it is $108.99 at the time of this review), so I bought a Samsung SSD for comparison. The Samsung SSD has not suddenly stopped being recognized by my computer or suddenly disconnected even once. It is only this Silicon Power SSD that is unreliable to the point of unusable.

Now that I've been able find time to slowly and painstakingly transfer all of the data I had on the Silicon Power SSD to my new Samsung SSD to be able to return this faulty SSD, I'm past the date where I can refund or even exchange my Silicon Power SSD. To add insult to injury, when I go in to my Amazon orders to try to get product support for this SSD, the product support for this SSD has just passed its window for me, too. There is no way I can get my money's worth or my money back, much less help for this SSD, and now I'm just stuck with a dead weight of a faulty product. $150 down the drain. Thanks, Silicon Power and Amazon. Don't throw your $109 down the drain, too.

Great drive but downloadable software has a a virus
Drive is great for the price. Do be careful with the software that needs to be downloaded to monitor the drive. It appears it has a virus in it, which spread to both the old drive and this new SSD during the cloning process, rendering both drives inoperable. I had to download the recovery files from the PC vendor and do a complete reinstall of all software, defeating the purpose of the cloning software.

Drive crapped out after 2 days.

Cheap drive is cheap drive
My mistake I went with "amazon choice"... and paid for the cheapest SSD on Amazon.
Another mistake is I didn't use it within the first month of purchase, it's just I like to keep an SSD handy for any PC or Laptop upgrade.
First: the drive did pretty well installing Windows in Precision workstation.
Then, a few days after, the machines stopped seeing the drive.
After a series of troubleshooting, the machine was able to see the drive, I had to reinstall the Windows and all the applications and data again.
Few days after the second installation, the machine stopped seeing the drive, but in all scenarios, the machine is working perfectly fine with it's older HDDs.

I tried connecting it to another workstation as an external drive, which I was able to read it after a couple of trials, but there's no point of reading it as external drive.
It's now a piece of garbage that I paid $90 for "Amazon choice"!!

And YES: I am an expert computer engineer.

Easy to clone the old drive and swap to this one with a few tweaks
My desktop is mostly decent for what I do, but I was still using a 7200 rpm spinning drive. This drive turned my old computer into a screaming fast machine. I used to make a cup of coffee after logging in, because the drive was pegged. Now I can instantly start working.

The drive comes with NTI Echo software (for download), which cloned my old spinning terabyte drive in about three hours. For whatever reason, my BIOS sees the new SSD as a USB FDD, rather than a hard disk. I wanted to keep the old disk for backup/extra storage, so I just changed the boot priority to USB FDD, then Hard Disk, then CD ROM (yep, I still have one of those). This allowed me to boot from the new drive, while keeping the old one online.

Windows 10 sees the cloned drive and won't allow the old one to be accessible, due to a cloned drive signature. Just type "Disk Management" in the task bar, and you'll see the old drive marked OFFLINE. Right click it, change it to ONLINE, and then Windows changes the disk signature and assigns a drive letter. Problem solved.

Now I have a fast boot drive with all my apps intact, and a secondary drive for additional storage. Best upgrade I could have installed, and it was cheap too

Good value, but possible heat issues
I had this in a laptop as the main system drive for just over a month without hint of an issue. Then, I found the laptop in a blue screen state. Restarted, but it wouldn't boot. I restarted a couple times to ensure it wasn't just a fluke. It wasn't. In fact, I noticed that it was taking the BIOS screen much longer (~10 sec) than usual (~2 sec) to hand off to the bootloader. I'm no BIOS engineer, but I take that to mean it's having issues accessing the bootloader to begin with, and was probably slowed in accessing the data.

Took the drive out to put on a USB adapter. The first thing I noticed was how hot it was. Much hotter than that comparable SanDisk right next to it. Keep in mind that at this point they were just kind of idle since the system wasn't even booting, and it took at least a minute for me to get to the drive inside the laptop, which gave it time to cool.

On the USB adapter, there were zero issues detecting the drive, accessing data, and browsing around. Full checkdisk revealed no errors. When the laptop was failing to boot, it always referenced winload.exe as the problem, so I did a CRC on that compared to one of the same file version, they were identical (indicating no problem), and the Microsoft signatures were in tact as well. Basically, the disk worked flawlessly to the naked eye.

Stumped, I recalled the noticeable heat, and given that I was outside the return period and saw another review about RMA problems, decided I'd like to avoid that. So I removed the metal shell in order to permit better dissipation of heat. NOTE: Where this drive is being used, there is zero risk of the PCB or any of the drive's circuits from coming into contact with other components, there is plastic sandwiching the whole thing and the small and light PCB hovers away from any other surface--I would not do this if there was risk of contact with other metal. I affixed a small piece of tape to the two SATA connectors to bond them and ensure no chance of it ever wiggling out (the laptop is mostly stationary because it's a larger gaming laptop).

So far, this has worked, and I've seen no further issues.

-- UPDATE: About one month since removing the metal shell for heat management, and still no bluescreens nor any other issues have been observed.

Questionable longevity
After 30 days in my system, the drive would continually freeze and wouldn't re-detect without power cycling the machine (or I suppose hot swapping it). I wasn't planning on writing a review for this 1TB model, but I also have a 512GB model from the same company, and it started doing the same thing after a little over 2 months in production.

You may get a good one, or you may encounter the same problems I had. For a raid (or other redundancy mechanism) I'm a big advocate of mixing different vendors' drives as long as they have similar characteristics, since a bad batch is more likely to affect multiples of the same model bought at the same time.

Excellent 1TB SSD for the $
This was one of the best values I've found for SSD's in the 1TB range. Most others still run well over $100 for 1TB of storage (at the time of this review in Dec 2019).

Silicon Power does provide free software for download to check and monitor the health (and check the SMART stats) of their SSD drives - SP Toolbox. I would recommend downloading the free utility from SP's website for occasionally checking and ensuring your drive is in good health. From a transfer rate perspective, this SSD works as advertised, and performs as well as a Crucial MX SSD 3D NAND that I also have installed in the same desktop system.

SSD's are best for general purpose use - primarily as boot drives for OS and apps, especially on laptops. The OS will boot much, much faster from a SSD compared to a mechanical HDD, and the SSD will consume a lot less power than a mechanical HDD. Apps also launch in a fraction of the time on a SSD. The only drawback with a SSD is its overall shelf life - it has a limited number of writes, which not a huge factor if you're only using the drive for booting the OS and running apps. For media storage, backups, databases, and large files, mechanical HDD's are still the way to go, and they're still a lot less expensive than a SSD. Over time, if you write or delete a lot of data from a SSD drive, performance will begin to deteriorate. Most however will not encounter much in the way of performance degradation, even after several years of drive use. Either way, SSD is best for "read" operations, and will vastly outperform a mechanical HDD for reading data, hence the much faster boot and app launch times. They are well worth it for the performance boost...time is money.

Silicon Power seems to be making quality drives that work, but time will tell. If it fails or clunks out early, I'll be back here to modify my review. Otherwise, no complaints, 5 stars.

SSD is the Best Upgrade You Can Make!
I've updated five of our laptops to SSD drives now. It makes them SO much faster and less prone to break down. The prices have plummeted on SSD drives. I was debating on 500GB or 1TB and the price difference wasn't that big so I went with a bigger drive. Although I don't need the space right now, I know I'll have the laptop quite a bit longer (thanks to the increased speed), so I'm sure I'll appreciate the extra space later.

Installation was simple. I have a USB to SATA adapter that I bought when I upgraded my first one. I used Macrium Reflect to clone the drive, expanding the windows partition to use the extra space (my original HD was only 500GB). Once it was done, I found a YouTube guide for replacing the drive in my particular laptop. About a dozen screws later, I had the hard drive replaced. Reassembly was quick and easy, and now my laptop boots up in seconds.

Nice drive once I figured out the power issue
I bought this to upgrade the secondary hard drive in my laptop, a hybrid Seagate. The initial installation went pretty flawless, but right away I started having read issues where the drive would hang during a loading operation, like for a game or benchmark, and sometimes it would recover, while other times I got a blue screen of death (BSOD) from Windows 10.

I know you're thinking, "Why give it 5-stars then?" Because the problem went away after I disabled power management on the SSD, and now it works great and is very fast as well. I'm getting over 430 MB/sec read and about 400 MB/sec write speeds with the drive 3/4th full. Definitely worth it for the $$.

If you're thinking about this drive, and I recommend it myself, you should disable low power management as part of your installation. In Windows 10, go to Settings > System > Power and Sleep > Additional power settings, then next to the Power Plan, select Change Plan Settings, then Change Advanced Power Settings. When the window opens, go to Hard disk > Turn off hard disk after, and select "0" or "Never".

Good reliability and excellent speed when multiple disks are striped together
I believe these are excellent drives, I purchased them when the price was much higher over a year ago, but it was still the best all around deal on 1TB SSDs. I have 8x of these in two AKiTiO Thunderbolt 3 Bays with SoftRAID 1+0 and the volume produces 1308MB/s read and 1138MB/s write speed on the hosting iMac Pro. They have over 10,500 hours of use and roughly 415,500,000 I/O requests for each disk, and there has not been a single I/O error with over a year of constant use. I use these bays to store the network home directories for my company's OpenDirectory users and the TimeMachine backups for all my company's Mac's, so performance is a must and so is reliability. I paired the bays in RAID10 for extra reliability, but as we are in need of more storage I'm planning to buy 4 more and I will put the new volume in RAID0 configuration as these SSDs have proved their reliability to me.

Took about 2 1/4 hrs and about 10 minutes to install. It immediately recognized the new 1Tb SSD and booted into Windows without any adjustments to the Bios. It was taking between 3 1/2min to 4 1/4min for the system to completely boot up, including loading the programs.... NOW it is between 21-24 Seconds for everything to load. Haven't run any speed tests yet. but at this point doesn't make much difference (Very Satisfied). Amazon and this Product are tough to beat! Can't speak to the longevity but Wish I would of done this a few years ago!

Fast drive, some stability issues
Purchased this a few months as I wanted to have a decent sized steam library for games I frequently play to cut down on load times. Everything worked great at first but I noticed the system would start having some hang-up issues when opening programs after I had used about 250GB of the storage. I understand that an SSD will perform slower the more files it has stored on it, but I figured that would happen closer to hitting the 60/70% storage capacity, not 25%. I had initially assumed it was just a minor instability with my overclock on the CPU so I didn't pay much attention to it. After hitting about 50% storage capacity the stalls became much more noticeable. These stalls would prevent pretty much any application from opening for up to 20 seconds so I disabled my overclock on the CPU thinking that was the problem. This didn't change anything. For the sake of science I hit the 75% capacity on the drive (720GB used, 230GB free) and the stalls now started lasting upwards to 30-40 seconds. Write speeds started dropping down into 5MBS or lower. I've since transferred the majority of my steam library onto a traditional hard drive and the issues have gone away.

Don't buy it if you're outside USA -- NO LO COMPRES SI NO ERES DE EEUU.
I purchased it in 2019. and almost exactly 1 year later it failed.

I called Amazon to wonder about the extended warranty, and they told me I should talk directly to silicon power.

I spoke to the customs rep, very nice and kind people, they asked me to pay the fee to return the drive.

I paid FEDEX shipping from Mexico to the USA. 2 days later they had it.

And guess what they did? they sent it back to me in USPS. Now, USPS is very good in the US, but postal service in Mexico SUCKS. The item is now lost or stolen. and the reps in Silicon Power only tell me to wait a little longer, I guess they want me to wait for the warranty to be void so they can skip their responsibility.

Why do you sell items to OTHER countries if you are NOT going to properly give support to the customers?

Worked ok for a couple years then started having issues.
Just like the title says. I used this as my system drive for a year, then upgraded to a larger SSD. I use it now for video editing projects so it amps up my render times a little bit. Within the last few months, it just randomly stops registering the drive. I've swapped cables and verified the issue in another PC. I cannot suggest this drive with a straight face for any data that you need reliable access to. Spend a little more and buy something name brand.

What happens:
PC works fine for a few days, then the drive stops being detect by windows, or I get an error when trying to view the contents of a folder on the drive saying it's inaccessible. I've formatted and re-partitioned the drive and the issue persists.
Rebooting the PC doesn't fix the issue. I have to power it down for 5-10 minutes then it will work. It has some kind of intermittent problem when it is left running for long periods of time.

Good SSD
Upgraded my 2014 Mac mini to this 1tb SSD. I cloned the old drive in disk utility on the recovery mode of Mac OS. Then I shut down the Mac and tore everything apart and swapped the 5400 rpm drive out and this ssd in. Reassembled the Mac and booted just fine. My boot times went from a minute 56 seconds to 22 seconds.

I did a few speed tests before and after. This drive is SATA 3 so the bottle neck is the interface itself. The SSD saturates most of the bandwidth ( a good thing)

Definitely worth the price. If you want blazing speed you get a m.2 drive instead of sata. But you work with what you have.

Terrible Software
The SSD drive arrived quickly and in good shape.
I decided to purchase the drive because some reviews gave the drive and software
good reviews. I've used SP products in the past and have had no problems.

This time was different!
The software downloads, and installs fine. The GUI is clean and simple.
Then the trouble started, after hitting OK to start cloning.

The NEAT cloning software write a config file to the old hard drive.
and it re-writes the Master Boot Record. This is one of the critical
parts of you Win10 system. It must load and operate correctly.
It didn't ask for permission, or to make a bootable USB.
It just replaced the critical files with its own proprietary junk.
This is like poring gasoline on a wokken bridge, lighting it behind you
as you walk across. If it works, great! If not you have just destroyed your way back.

I called their customer support, got a hold of the very pleasant (albeit clueless) support person.
She said they only did support via email. Obviously a problem since my computer wouldn't boot.
After slowly type an e-mail on my phone, half a day later I got a hold of a customer support person.
The first email had a list of instructions that just didn't work (i.e command not found). The next e-mail
at least worked, but didn't fix the problem. After a grand total of two e-mails I heard nothing more from
the software support at NEAT.

If you decided to buy this drive, please use other software.
Acronis works very well, or Clonezilla. Of choose a different SSD supplier that uses
better software (like Samsung or Crucial)

Anything that does not have the potential destroy your hard drive while upgrading.
This should have been an easy 1 hour upgrade, instead it took three days.

SP 2.5" 1TB SSD as slow as HDDs when at half capacity
After thorough benchmarking, it turns out that when this drive is at 50% or more capacity, it does something no other SSD (WD Blue, Crucial MX500, Samsung) does. It causes hang ups in game loading as the drive "attempts" to access its data. Mind you, this is benchmarking testing that I do, not the typical end user install-uninstall-tons-of-random-apps-over-a-year kind of use. I download everything in one go so fragmentation is not, and never should be, a huge performance factor loss for SSDs. I kid you not, ONLY on this SSD do games take just as long to load from a WD 5200rpm HDD, or LONGER. When I did the same testing on Western Digital, Samsung and Crucial 1TB SATA SSDs, they had no issue loading games within seconds, often under 15-20 seconds. On this SP drive, however, games such as F1 2018 and BFV took over a minute to load into the game. To add insult to injury, quitting the session to return to main menus resulted in another 30+ seconds of loading, while all other brands load instantly into the menu. All system drivers and patches were identical on my test bench. The only difference was this SP SSD. I don't know what this company does to shave off $20 from competitors, but IT IS NOT WORTH IT for gaming. I am literally ordering a new SSD from Samsung because I refuse to allow this POS SSD tarnish a build for my next customer. Buyer beware, this SSD does not cut it.

FYI my test bench used for this Silicon Power 1TB SATA, WD Blue 1TB SATA, Crucial MX500 1TB SATA, and Samsung 860 1TB SATA:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X stock
Gigabyte B450I ITX mobo
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 C15 (XMP enabled)
Corsair RM750X 80+gold
Asus Strix GTX 1080 stock

My first HDD to SDD surgery! Lots of time, but worth it!
I bought two of these to replace the hard disk drive (hhd) to improve my laptop and my daughters. And I also used it to replace the hard drive in my xbox one x. All for better performance, and to not have to buy an entirely new laptop or xbox. I bought a drive docking station to be able to keep accessing my old drives (Sabrent USB 3.0 to SATA I/II/III Dual Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 ) You just use the existing connections of the device you're replacing. Replacing the three devices was my first time and it took me 6 hours the first time and 2 hours the other times. I found YouTube videos and my laptop's troubleshooting manual on how to take it apart (lots of searching online for that one). I also made sure I downloaded a bootable Windows 10 on a USB drive. Neither laptop was listed under Windows for product keys so I guess it automatically recognized them. And I had my Microsoft Office 2013 already too (with key, though i didn't have to enter it). It was a fun project for my first time (I'm almost 50 years old woman), and it definitely was great for fresh install before online school started during COVID-19. Would I do it again? Yep. already have the magnetic tool for the screws and dry eraser to mark it, and all my little tiny screw drivers. Putting it all back together (reversing the instructions from YouTube) was the hardest part. But I now have three devices that will keep going for at least another 3 years without having to replace them.

2.5 SSD: Not a consistent read and write drive.
2.5" SSD drive:
It's not very consistent and will break in performance. You can clearly see this with gaming and video editing.

Gaming: the fps will fluctuate very low when loading new areas of the map. This is the result of the drive trying to read the new zones and let the video card produce the graphics.

Video editing: the timer on the editing goes up and down dramatically. It's not consistent and I've done nothing but watch the video recording in progress.

Samsung magician shows the benchmarks go up and down with read and write speeds.

File transfer shows the same issue when moving large files from nvme to ssd.

NVME SSD:
It's the perfect drive out there. I ditched my old 960 Evo 256gb for this. It boots faster. Transfer files faster. Edit videos faster. Literally everything faster (including breaking down faster than the 960 Evo).

Why it breaks down faster? TLC have a much shorter lifespan than MLC. However, that time it takes to use up all the read and write on the SSD would be in the years. By then, a newer technology will arrive.

Very poor customer support.
Drive does seem to work fine, but had initial problems with their clone software and getting it to work. Sent numerous emails to them and never received any response outside of automated emails. Gave up and used clonezilla which worked flawlessly. If you don't need to clone a drive, the drive alone seems good. Not sure on life expectancy yet, but don't ever expect a response from their technical support staff. Skip their clone software and just use clonezilla if you need to clone a drive. Next time I will pay a few more bucks and just buy a name brand with a known reputation.

You want this
I resisted SSDs for a really long time because the cost per GB just seemed out of whack to me. I was wrong. So very wrong. Granted the prices have come way down but I should have switched earlier. Load times disappear. Boot times go from minutes to seconds. Yes they are still expensive compared to spinning rust drives are are not a good solution for archiving huge amounts of data but for your active drive you want this.

This drive went into a PS4 as a replacement for the stock 500GB HD. Not only did it double the capacity everything got faster. Oh and it took 5 minutes start to finish. Seriously, if you have a console (PlayStation/XBox), do yourself a favor and get an SSD.

CRAP!
I've installed over 200 SSDs at this point and this is the worst one I've come across. I cloned a smaller Crucial SSD to this 1TB Silicon Power SSD and when I picked it up it was extremely hot which was odd in my opinion but just figured it was because I moved 200gb to it but had never felt it with any other drive. Anyways, the client calls me within 30 minutes of being home complaining that the screen went black and wouldn't respond. He reboots and is able to work about for another 5-10 minutes and it shuts off the computer. Well, long story short I told him it had to be the drive and that it must be overheating. In my opinion after reading other reviews on these silicon power drives you'd be must better off getting crucial, or Samsung, or western digital, just anything other than this brand unless you don't care about your data for the few dollars difference that you may save.

NOT RELIABLE, CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES NOT RESPOND
I purchased this SSD about 5 months ago, worked great for the first few months, then it just crapped out, I used it for video recording and it kept on skipping and disconnecting. This happened in the middle of a client shoot. VERY UNRELIABLE!! I contacted customer service and they have a chat feature on the page that responds automatically in chinese characters, nobody responded to the chat, I opened a service request, nobody responded. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT, spend a few more dollars and go with a known company

Not a reliable drive for primary use
I have four of these drives and a sister-in-law who also owns one that I bought her for Christmas. Three of the five drives have disappeared from the system at various times, resulting in blue screen crashes in Windows 10 x64. Running a disk check with the repair option fixed the problems, but I do not fully trust the drives given the rate of disappearance from the systems.

The other two drives I use through external enclosures as backup drives. I would not trust these drives for primary installations of an operating system. It is safer to use them sparingly to back up data that is not changed much, e.g. for music, videos, etc. storage that is read more than written. The value for the money is really not worth it. I recommend people do research to find the most durable/reliable SSDs for installing an operating system or for other heavy use.

Worth the Upgrade
I'm reluctant to give up on my Alienware Alpha (R1) HTPC and decided to sink in a number of upgrades to give it new life. I initially replaced the Alpha's mechanical hard drive years ago with a solid-state hybrid drives because SSDs at the time were outrageous in cost. That drive served for a time, but the boot time seemed like forever when compared to my other devices. The price point on this SSD with size and specs is what won me over on this one. When it arrived, I laughed out loud at the size and weight of it. It felt like a 3D printed copy of my old mechanical drive. However, took a perfect clone of the old SSHD. My Alpha's boot time went from minutes to seconds. So worth it...

Gracefully bad out of the box
I used the SP SSD to upgrade an Apple Mini from a mechanical drive to solid state. Predictably it made a huge positive difference in performance. However, my Mac started crashing maybe once a week and restarting in the Recovery Console. I was not convinced that it was the drive's fault since something could have gone wrong during the drive cloning process. So I lived with the problem while trying various things such as OS reinstall, drive diagnostics etc. Since the problem was sporadic it was difficult to debug -- change something and wait a week for it to crash again. Nothing helped.
At least whenever the drive came back up I never had a problem rebooting and the drive never was corrupted or lost any data. Which is the reason why I call it a "graceful fail out of the box."
Finally I decided to get a new drive (Samsung EVO) and replaced the SP drive. At that point I was not certain that the problem was the SP drive's fault as it could have been a bad motherboard as well. But after a successful drive swap I placed the old SP drive in a USB cradle on the same machine to monitor it. And, yes, after 5 days the MAC suddenly complained that I had removed the SP drive without first ejecting it. It had simply vanished on its own volition from both Finder and the Mac's drive utility. It only re-appeared after power cycling the drive.
My experience doesn't mean that all SP drives are bad but I have dealt with maybe a dozen SSDs and this was my first bad experience with one.

perfect upgrade
Headline says it all... I have purchased a bunch of these in different capacities. I originally went with SP because it was less expensive than the alternatives - now I just really like them (it does help that they are still cheap)! Have not had any issues with any of them yet but I do still have a couple in package. Its not a Samsung when it comes to speed, but its more than adequate (aka its awesome) for everything I do. I do light gaming, audio editing, and a whole lot of internet browsing/online shopping... so I am like most people. have not installed the 1TB yet, but I bet it works like the rest :)

My 8 year old Samsung 840 Pro is quicker!
First off: Ordered July 4th, 2020 and it didn’t reach my door until July 13th, 2020. Absolutely unreal and missed my Prime delivery date by 4 days (Thursday, July 9th).

Secondly, upon receiving my package, I noticed the SSD was placed inside a large envelope with no protection whatsoever, which allowed it to move all over the place. It didn’t end there. As I pulled it out of the ridiculous envelope, I noticed it was ripped and partially exposed. Doesn’t look used so I guess that’s a good sign.

And lastly, I did some benchmarking and the results are absolutely underwhelming. Even my 8 year old Samsung 840 Pro blows this thing out of the water. Only thing installed on the Silicon Power SSD is ARK Survival Evolved. Tried installing the websites programs, but the Sandbox isn’t reliable at all, and there was no firmware update. The price was exceptional at $93 when I bought it, and it’s even cheaper now. However, it’s slower than every other drive of mine, and they are all much older. I give this drive a Meh at best.
