It performs the functions it's supposed to but the buttons are flimsy and often times need to be pressed multiple times.

I’m a math teacher, and I had a class set of these. Through years in use, I ended up with fewer than I needed. The other calculators I filled in with were harder to use, I got tired of kids arguing about who got the “good” calculators, so I decided to get more of these.
(My daughter is studying physics in college and this is the calculator she keeps on her desk.)

Can't for the life of me figure out how to put the equal sign for an equation without it solving the equation. And, I cannot figure out how to put a greater or less than sign < or > . Read the online manual (pdf) and still can't figure it out. I need to take a class just to learn how to use the darn thing. It's nice but not easy to use.... and not having a physical manual, in paper really sucks and is not convenient.

I had to talk my daughter into trying this calculator, as it wasn't a popular choice in her class, but she loves how she can put full formulas into the calculator with fractions and decimals. Amazing ability to input long formulas too. Great, cost-effective choice for non-graphing calculator.

I have been looking for a good calculator for my son, he is in 7th grade and pre-algebra has started. The device stores your last few calculations so you can go back and check them or use them again.

Didn't need to set it up or enter any codes. Just put in new batteries and it started working with our TV.

I wanted to replace my 8-year-old Sharp EL-531X with a new model. This product has an almost identical keyboard layout. The display is nice too.

On-line operating procedures written poorly.
In many cases very generic and cannot operate
as written. I spent two days trying the different
functions and some do not respond as written.
Some of the easy operations now take two or more
keystrokes to operate as compared to earlier versions
(El501x). This was probably done to allow more complex functions.
The D1-D3 memory keys don't contain the final results as I hoped it would.It's a lengthy process.
You can't just type D1. The sine x
Table mode was a complete waste of time.
In many cases it takes too many keystrokes, if you can get it to function.
The plastic case and keys seem not as durable as the EL502x.
I’m about ready to turn this back to Amazon.

I haven't figured out most of the functions yet but I use the 'squared' and 'square root' a lot and they are nicely placed right in the middle. I am still looking for the +/- and the shifter... sigh!

Good remote for the price and easy to use. Didn't have to set anything up it worked straight out of the box. The only down side is the power button you have to press pretty hard for it to work, sometimes a couple times before it turns the tv on. But it does work and hasn't been a big deal for me.

It's cheap, I got it for 13 dollars and it works
If you want something that feels well made for a desk top, this isn't it.
If you want something that weighs next to nothing to carry around in a bag this will do.
On the back it says "BATTERY, SOLAR CELL" so I suppose it contains both. No problem using it at night.
No backlight, at least not that I know of.
And if you haven't thought about it, I got this color because it's cheaper than the other exact model and I can find easily on a desk full of black electronics.

This is an awesome calculator. Its perfect for my kids and their school work. Shipping was super fast and it came with a cute bag to keep the calculator in. It came with instructions on how to work everything as well. Very happy with this item.

...which is conversion from decimal to binary is kind of a pain in the butt. I have to switch back to decimal from binary after every conversion, which means two calculations for every one that I actually want the answer for. Ugh...annoying,
