The software and instructions that came with this drive made it easy to install. Open the case (for my ancient Dell, this was the hardest part), switch wires to new hard drive, put in a few screws to hold it in place, close case. Pretty much that easy. Seems to be working fine after about 2 weeks.

Didn't have any problems replacing our dead hard drive with this one. Was nice that it came with its own cable, even though we didn't need it. Setting the jumpers was no different than any other drive. Works as expected so far.But will say this...This drive is whisper quiet. Didn't realize how noisy some of our other drives were until we got accustomed to using this one. Now our other PCs sound a bit obnoxious.Mar 16, 2012 update: This drive still is working fine. No complaints.

I bought the Seagate as a replacement for another hard drive of the same make and model which I had bought back in September of 2005 for my RAID1 system from another vendor. The original Seagate came with a 5 year warranty (which is great), but I had expected much better service. The replacement that I obtained from Amazon.com is running fine - so far. The failed Seagate has been returned for a warranty replacment.

I have had lots of problems with WDC. I was a die hard WDC even though they were a little noisy. I have changed my WDC 80GB at least twice per drive (I have two of them). Some of my other WDC's haven't held up. I've been only using the SEAGATES and I'm much happier with them. They are much quieter, faster and generates less heat. I think that they are the best in the market place.
