Drive installed perfectly into a linux server. After 30 days of run-time, the re-allocated sector count was up to 83. After 76 days of 24/7 run-time, the count is up to 499 sectors. It is clear I am going to have to buy a new drive, copy all of the data off this one, and return it to Seagate for repair/replacement. From past experience, as this is the second Seagate drive I will have had to replace in the past year, Seagate will send me a refurbished drive. In the end, if that one works, I will have a used drive instead of the new drive I have now. Needless to say, I am quite disappointed in the quality of Seagate drives lately. I have used many Seagate drives in the past - this server has 6 Seagate 500 GB hard drives in it now, some of which have been running for 3-5 years without any problems.Sorry, Seagate. After installation and initial testing, I was prepared to give this drive 5 stars. After 2 months, all I can do is 2 stars. Speed, quiet operation, none of that matters if you can't get reliability right!This is not just a Seagate problem, however. In the past 18 months, I have also had reliability issues with WD and Hitachi drives. It seems that all of the manufacturers are having reliability issues with the higher-density drives.

This model is facing problems.I have this drive for less than a month and is showing "Reallocated Sectors Count" on the S.M.A.R.T information. This means that:"Count of reallocated sectors. When the hard drive finds a read/write/verification error, it marks that sector as 'reallocated' and transfers data to a special reserved area (spare area). This process is also known as remapping, and reallocated sectors are called "remaps". The raw value normally represents a count of the bad sectors that have been found and remapped. Thus, the higher the attribute value, the more sectors the drive has had to reallocate. This allows a drive with bad sectors to continue operation, however, a drive which has had any reallocations at all is significantly more likely to fail in the near future.[2] While primarily used as a metric of the life-expectancy of the drive, this number also affects performance. As the count of reallocated sectors increases, the read/write speed tends to become worse because the drive head is forced to seek to the reserved area whenever a remap is accessed. A workaround which will preserve drive speed at the expense of capacity is to create a disk partition over the region which contains remaps and instruct the operating system to not use that partition.The second thing I'm facing is that some time happens that the drive starts to work with out any reason. That is a signal of Potential imminent electromechanical failure.I don't recommend the drive.Kind regards,Sergio.

I ordered a Seagate Hard Drive model ST32000641AS for $230 but actually received a Seagate drive ST2000DM001. Although the specifications appear the same, the price for the ST2000DM001 is $150. This product was a bait-and-switch. In fact, had the poor packaging not called my attention to the problem, I would not have investigated any further.The packaging for this $230 hard drive was TERRIBLE! It was just dropped in the box with bubble wrap. The bag that contained the hard drive was ripped by the corners and circuitry components of the hard drive, apparently because it had be jostled so much during shipping. I have ordered many drives from Amazon before and they have all been delivered in a box with plastic that cradles the drive during shipping. I added my new seagate 3tb to my NAS (QNAP TS-459PII) and it is working great. The only thing I want you to be aware is to not expect the item to come in the original manufacturer's packaging. It will come in regular box, with paper, and inside a static bag with a none manufacturer label. contacted seller and this is what they had to say; "My partner and I run a 2 man operation, we buy these drives in bulk and occasionally we come across a drive that simply does not work. To avoid the risk of shipping these out to our potential customers, we do take and test the drives ourselves. After they are tested, we wipe them down with a paper towel to rid them of dust/debris. I can personally assure you that this is a brand new, never written to drive. Customer service is our number one priority as we are a small outfit and trying to make a name for ourselves on the Amazon Marketplace." I decided to keep the hard disk drive after buying two more to add to my NAS (Hitachi). So far so good. 1/20/12

I installed the drive, and as soon as I hit the power switch, the drive began to vibrate violently and started squealing like someone taking a fork to a plate. This drive looked great on paper but I'm very disappointed. I guess I've been really lucky up until now. This is the first computer component that I've ordered online in the past 10 years that has been completely defective upon arrival. I'm currently working with the seller right now for a replacement. Hopefully the new one will work. If not, I may be afraid to buy another Seagate.***Update** I just got my replacement drive and it's working fine so far. Some light configuration work in Disk Manager had to occur to allow Windows 7 to recognize the entire drive.

This Seagate XT 3TB runs great. I swapped out the 500GB disk inside my Apple Time Capsule with this drive. After reassembly, the time capsule immediately recognized the drive and updated itself (I assume new firmware to support large drive). I did a quick - erase which formatted the drive for the time capsule and was backing up in no time. Excellent speed, runs very quietly, and doesn't heat up as bad as the older 500GB drive. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to upgrade their time capsule instead of spending $499 for a new one from Apple

I have been building and using desktops, workstations and servers for over 25 years now and occasionally wind up using some competitors drive, which ultimately fail and always wind up asking myself, why didn't I use SeagateAt home I have been using an HP Z800 workstation, with my startup drive being and OCZ Vertex II 240 Gb, very fast, with a RAID 0 with 3 15K Cheatah SAS 400 Gb drives. These are fantastic drives, that are always on and have not failed in 4 years. For whatever reason I purchased a WHS unit and about a month ago, my computer starts crashing. I couldn't figure it out, until I shut off WHS. No more problems. Turning back on the WHS, the same problem.I decided to get a Synology 1511+ and use two of my discs from the WHS, one being a one year old WD Black Caviar 1 TB and adding 3 Barracuda XT 2TB later. I turns out the CAVIAR was broke. No surprise. Personally, I think WD is garbage. I just decided to order 5 of Barracudas and set up my 1511+. Where it took my friend a day and half using the "green" WD analogue, these discs formed their array in less than 7 hours.They are quiet, very fast and per $ well worth the investment. I am keeping my fingers crossed and have used hundreds of Seagates and have never had one crash, and hopefully I didn't just give me the kiss of death with stating what I just did.My recommendation to anyone building an array such as the Synology or equivalent, use these drives. I looked at all the alternatives, did not like what I have been hearing about the 3TB WD, didn't want to wait for the Seagate 3 TB and wanted a fast, relatively inexpensive drive. I thought these drives to be the best of the lot.

This drive arrived dead. I plugged it into my computer and formatted it. Everything seems fine until the next time I booted my computer. There were these sounds as if one of my fans was hitting a wire. I shut down and slid the container with the Seagate hard drive out somewhat so I could listen. I restarted and heard louder clanking noises. It turned out to be the Seagate hard drive. Before I could shut down the computer, it sounded like a chain saw running inside this hard drive. I RMAed Seagate for a replacement. Their Tech. Support is very easy to deal with and I got a replacement drive in 3 days. This drive has nice capacity and good speed. The install and removal is easy. Seagate replacement is fast and easy. Beware that some of these drives are defective. I could physically move the drive case around like it was not put together solidly. I know you take a chance with any HDD. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

This is one of the best hard drives nowadays. I run heavy graphics I have a EVGA GeForce GTX 580 gaming card; and Seagate Barracuda XT is definitely the best companion. Run eveything as fast as you could imagine, run heavy games in seconds, the drive is very quiet, lot of space.Its a very reliable product and very recommended! I can load many programs, even games, at once!I'm ordering the second one to make a RAID. I can't imagine the speed of it...

Dropped into a LaCie d2 to upgrade a 500GB to 3TB. Works as full 3TB drive as I'm a Mac user. I partitioned to match my backup drives for easy clone of a prior 2TB and a other 1TB drives. One word of caution to those who want to alternate use of quad interface connections with this drive in a LaCie enclosure. This drive comes unformatted. Initializing/formatting while connected to esata will prevent connectivity to any other port and you will be prompted to initialize a perfectly working drive with data in danger of being wiped.Do the setup while connected via FW first. All connections shoul work after that. I moved this into a SATAN only for maximum speed and cache specs for SATA 2. you can't get SATA 3 speed or cach on SATA 2, but darn fast and huge drive for less than a new enclosure with the same drive.

I'm running six of these right now on my workstation. One is my "C;" or System Drive. The other five are running in an internal RAID5 configuration. Great speed and capacity, but after only five months of daily use, one of the RAID5 drives smoked, literally, I smelled the burning resistor when it failed. My integrator honored the warranty and sent me a replacement, but I was operating for almost a week in degraded mode, and was in danger of losing all data if another drive failed before the replacement and database re-build. So I also ordered this additional drive to sit on the shelf in anticipation of the next failure. Should have built the system to accommodate a hot stand-by, live and learn.

As soon as I connected the drive, it made very scary mechanical sounds and wasn't even recognized. Dead on arrival.I can't help but wonder if this was due to the the poor packaging. I'm all for saving waste that Amazon is doing with their new packaging but sending the hard drive in a bare box with only two plastic holder? Not a good idea.

I bought this drive seeing a 4 star rating,but after recieving it and going through a fast and easy setup I found the Seagate Barracuda to be virtually noiseless and runs cool.The speed is good not super fast, but I'm not in a hurry for transferring data or what ever.The auto backup software works great and backing up changed or added files.Over all I gave this drive a 5 star.

The hard drive is great! I've had it a few months and it was easy to partition. I came back just now to purchase 3 more but the price is outrageous!! I purchased it at 169.99 a few months ago and now the price has skyrocketed!!!! So if you are thinking about purchasing it, you should consider waiting until the price goes back down. I'm assuming it's because of the flooding in Thailand but that amount of price increase is not justifiable.

I've been using these drives for years and they perform great for me. I have them in a disk enclosure running as an array and connected via eSATA cable. I use them to store Hi-Def video files for editing using Avid Media Composer software. At the risk of jinxing myself: I've never had one fail.

This will probably only be relevant for a short time but i found a great holiday deal selling a Seagate 3TB go flex drive for $99 and ripped it apart because this drive is inside. saved $240. for those interested the External model is STAC3000102 3TB. SUPER easy to take apart.

Purchased 4 3TB Seagate drives to use in a RAID 5 configuration as part of a Home Theater installation. The idea was to have a fault tolerant system, where one drive could go bad and the array could be rebuilt. I've now had the array collapse due to failure of two drives on two separate occaissions.Avoid these drives!

Purchased 2 of these for a Synology NAS unit. First one initialized fine but the second crashed during initialization. Returning them and purchasing WD units instead. Thought Segate was the more reliable brand - guess I was wrong

I installed two 3TB Seagate Barracuda drives in my Mac Pro and installed Mac OS X Lion on one (allowing Migration Assistant copy over my apps, home dir and settings from the old Snow Leopard boot disk. I setup the other 3TB disk to be my Time Machine backup. It's great having so much free space that I don't have to search for a place to store things. These drives were a snap to install, are plug-and-play with my 2008 Mac Pro, and are very fast. I wish the Mac Pro would get updated with SATA3, so I could take advantage of that feature of the disk drives.

I use these in a NAS and they have given be no problems not even a little. My NAS runs 24/7 and these drives have not even hicuped. I paid 169 a piece in January 2011 and now I want to buy 2 more and cant find a price close to that.... I dont understand that.

Seagate must be getting lax on the Quality Control since I don't remember them being this bad in the past. I have several Seagate drives that have been working for years. I've now order two of these drives, 1 from Newegg, and one from Amazon. Both drives were DOA. All they do is beep every couple of seconds, BIOS won't even see the drive.

While Press Releases claim the 2.1 TB Barrier is broken, don't count on your HP workstation recognizing the whole drive. My xw8600 "sees" a 746 GB drive. HP says its Windows and Windows says a GPT drive is usable at 3 TB. After reading it might be a BIOS or driver issue I flashed the ROM with the latest BIOS, updates all firmware drivers, etc. all to no avail. I also tried Seagate's utilities and they also "see" a 746 GB drive. In the end, all I have is an expensive 746 GB drive now. Not very useful. BEWARE.

I've had great luck with Seagate products...but they were rather slow in coming out with a decent 2TB model.As the price dropped down, I thought I'd give it a try over the Western Digital units I had been buying.Although I have a 6GB interface card in my Mac Pro, I have no drive cases that support this speed so I dropped it into my newer technology dock connected to my machine through eSata II and started a 1.8TB backup on it.I have 17 drives of various sizes on my machine, in Raid 5, Raid 0 and individual configuration. I've got 2 Western Digital Black 2TB drives, competitors for the Barracuda XT - although only supporting SATA II.The Barracuda XT performed as well or better than the Western Digital Drives and held up well for the initial hours of copying required to load up a backup drive. Drive performance can vary widely depending upon the kinds of tasks you are executing. The best performance in transfer rates of course occur when you are copying large files. Small files are much slower on all my other drives.As far as I'm concerned, disks are the slowest part of my computer; even the high performance SSD drives I've recently installed. Given my impatience, I'd say the Seagate XT is as good or better than any of the other drives I've purchased and I plan on buying them in the future when I need 2TB drives.

Worked when I connected this drive to the Intel® P67(B3) chipset SATA 6Gb/s port(s) gray. The Hitachi 3TB drive did not work, kept pausing when connected to this port.

I got this HDD as a second HDD for my build. This is mainly used for storage in a non-RAID setup since I only got two 6Gbps SATA slots on the motherboard. I used the other SATA 3 port for a boot SSD HDD.Anyways, for storage, the read/write speeds is really great. I have dual boot on my machine: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V off a USB flash drive.I am using this HDD to storage all my Virtual OS hard drives and run them on all at the same time. They all run really fast...To give you an idea of how fast this thing is (with real read speed), I have another 1.5TB WD Green drive which I used it for storing ESXi 4.1 Virtual OSs. When I boot 2 virtual machines and use them it takes for ever to perform a basic functionality. It is connected to the SATA 2 3Gbps port.It is really an excellent drive. I wish I have more SATA3 ports on my MOBO to get another one and take advantage of the speed.

I have four of these drives running on my server in a RAID 5 configuration. They are EXCELLENT!!! VERY quiet and fast transfer speeds. I'm running Microsoft Server 2008 and all is well! I've been using Seagate drives for many years now. I used to get Western Digital drives but they always had a high failure rate and those were only being used on workstations! I've NEVER had a problem with my Seagate drives and I use them in server environments running hard, 24/7! Bottom line, if you need a good, solid, reliable and quiet drive, look no further. These drives will serve you well.

THE PRICE IS HIGHER BUT IT ALSO RUNS AT 6 GBPS WHICH IS TWICE THE SPEED OF THE CURRENT SATA STANDARD. MAKE SURE YOUR NEW MOTHER BOARD CAN SUPPORT THIS DRIVE AND YOU WILL ALSO NEED A 6 GBPS SATA CABLE. YES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. (AMAZON HAS THEM FOR UNDER $5 BUCKS. I DON'T BELIEVE THE MAJOR MANUFACTURES SYSTEMS ARE SUPPORTING THIS DRIVE YET. BUT IF YOU ARE BUILDING YOUR OWN COMPUTER AND ARE USING A VERY HIGH END MOTHER BOARD THIS IS FOR YOU. I PUT 400 GIGS ON IT AND IT BARELY PUT A DENT IN IT'S CAPACITY. LOVE IT SO FAR.P.S.YOU WILL HAVE TO FORMAT THE DRIVE BEFORE WINDOWS WILL RECOGNIZE IT IN "MY COMPUTER".

My new high performance Seagate drive failed after 3 days!After buying Seagate bare drives for over 15 years, I noticed that the quality of Seagate drives has been deteriorating over time. The Seagate 2TB 6 Gb/s drive started generating data and file errors in my Win7 PC after 3 days of use. Upon restarting Windows, CHKDSK is automatically launched to check the integrity of the new Seagate drive.While this particular drive could be a bad unit and I was unfortunate to receive it, I have experienced too many premature failures with Seagate drives over the last 5 years. None of my Hitachi drives have failed yet.The warranty is useless considering the amount of effort and time to recover or rebuild your data after a drive fails. Plus, who would want to return the drive when all of your data is still in it! Unless I can perform a 3-hour procedure to wipe the bad drive, I normally smash the drive with a hammer instead of invoking the warranty.This time, I was tempted to purchase this Seagate drive because of its higher 6 Gb/s data trasfer rate. I couldn't find a similar offer from Hitachi. I have learned my lesson.

I installed this drive in a desktop system with a Intel Core i7 Processor 2.80 GHz 8 MB LGA1156 CPU I7-860BOX, 8GB of Patriot PVT36G1600ELK Extreme Performance Viper Series PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 6GB 3 x 2GB Intel XMP Ready CL 9 Non ECC Triple Channel Kit (Blue), and Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. This drive replaced a Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Green SATA Intellipower 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive WD10EARS. I really like the Western Digital Green drives, although they're a bit slower than the Black edition drives. For the past few years I've been fairly committed to Western Digital. At one time, Seagate drives were market leaders, both in capacity, cost, speed, and noise. Seagate seemed to lose that edge in the consumer markets in 2007. So I was anxious to see if this drive would redeem Seagate, at least from my subjective perspective. Overall, the results were positive. The drive replacement and OS installation ran smooth and Windows 7 boot times were faster than the Western Digital Green drive. I've been using the drive for two months have not encountered any performance or reliability issues. If I do, I'll report back here.Here are the boot stats for the above configuration. This time interval is between bios post and average time to Win7 login prompt:Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Green SATA - 38 secondsSeagate Barracuda XT 2 T - 30 secondsThe bios also posted 1-2 seconds faster with the Seagate Barracuda. The Seagate Barracuda XT 2 also produces very minimal noise, and less than the Western Digital Green drives. I didn't measure the temperature of the drive, but it was always cool to the touch, and noticeably cooler than the Western Digital drive. In summary, this is a solid performing drive. For the price, it's a lot more expensive than two fast 1TB drives, but if you need a single 2TB drive, this is a great option.6/1/2010 Update: The drive continues to perform flawlessly with excellent performance.

I purchased this product through Amazon thinking it was coming from Amazon. NOWHERE on this site is it stated that the drives are not compatible with the Apple OS. Two blown out brand new drives later, third drive now dieing, I contacted Amazon they informed that they really did not sell it to me and to contact the seller. So I did I was informed that it was "common knowledge" that these drive do not work on Apple computers. 950.00 dollars spent and told "oh well" because I am past the 30 day period. Real good customer service! BUYER BEWARE

These Seagate SATA III drives work as advertised and provide plenty of storage space for music, photos and video. I purchased two of these drives for my new I7-950 PC and set them up in a RAID1 for data protection for use as storage only (the OS is installed on a Sandforce based 128GB SSD drive that's amazingly FAST!). These are setup on the on-board Marvell SATA III 6GB/s ports for maximum speed. I chose to use the RAID1 as there is typically a slight speed advantage AND I haven't had great luck with the reliability of the 1+ GB hard drives. The data throughput and speed on these drives is average - I have a nearly identical system running 2x2TB SATA II drives via the on-board Intel RAID and they run at roughly the same speed. Overall they perform fine, but there's truly no speed advantage at this point - if you want speed go SSD!

First, I must say that Serial ATA 6GB/s is purely a gimmick. Running this HDD on a SATA 3GB/s will undoubtedly change nothing. In comparison with other "high speed" HDDs, this hard disk has a read speed that can only be classified as mundane. Other drives such as the WD Velociraptor perform much better even on the SATA 3GB/s than this drive would on 6GB/s. One might say that the 2TB storage space is a redeeming quality to this drive; however, many drives offer the same storage at a fraction of the price of this drive. This drive, however is reliable but not much more than your average HDD.tl;drSpeed: Low for its priceStorage: Low for it priceReliability: YesThis drive is simply not worth its price tag.

I changed my 2T WDC green caviar 7200RPC because it was holding down the speed of my CPU based on windows experience where my HDD scored the lowest at 5.9 while the rest of the parameters from RAM, Processor and Graphics all scored 7.5 out of 7.9 max. I have a new unit that supports 6GBPS motherboard. I changed to Barracuda XT that runs 6GBPS in the hope of improving my windows experience rating a bit. After installing and checking....my win experience for the new XT Barracuda HDD remained to be at 5.9/7.9. I wondered why so obviously I was a bit disappointed. Anyway, I haven't had this for more than a day yet so I will continue to play and experience this HDD and see if it indeed is worth all that hype!

Purchased as a second drive to match the drive that shiped with my Dell XPS 9100. Implemented a Raid 1 software mirror in Windows 7, so far no problems. This drive has better proformance than a 2TB "green" drive, but at almost twice the cost my next drive will probably be a "green" drive.

I bought two of these and set them up in mirrored RAID on an at home NAS. The drives are quite fast and reliable as of yet.I am satisfied thus far.UPDATE 11/29/2011:Both drives have been running great for about a year now 24/7.

getting max speed of 113.9Mb/s with average 104.3Mb/s running at temp of 61c. My ASUS board does not support 6GB/s.

The frustration-free packing was very nice and simple to open. Its nice not to fight with a package! I was a little concerned that the drive was not in a static case, with-in the frustration-free casing however all did turn out fine.First off, you will need a SATA data cable to use this product. Some power supply's have it, others don't so keep that in mind in case you need a cable when you purchase this. All of our computers recognized the device fast. We have an HP, two Dells, a lenovo laptop and a personally made computer which I used to really test the drive's speed and capacity out. The drive is very quiet, no noise or clicking coming from it. Besides installing easily, your able able to create a partition through the disk manager interface and do a quick format as well. Our systems mainly have windows 7, however some have vista and there were no issues.I plan to use this as an external hard drive once I purchase a eSATA USB Docking Station. (they run about $30) It will make it easy to move from computer to computer and backup what I need. With the massive 2TB drive capacity, you won't run out of room! It has 7200RPM, 64 MB cache, and 6gb/s interface; which in turn makes for a great performance of power and quality.

This drive was not ready to go. I needed cables and screws since my HP didn't have any extras hiding in the inside.My Seagate EHDs do not read this Barracuda for backups, either, which is a huge pain.On the other hand, it appears to work well, and is fast and quiet.

Ordered four for a RAID solution in our new MACPRO 12 core, 1 was dead from the start. This is unacceptable. Seagate, wake up, you were once a terrific company. I *never* had this happen but our tech advisor advised me NOT to buy seagate. He said seagate is unreliable. He was right.

Pros: 1. Very quiet - absolutely no noise even when I was doing continous reads/writes running performance tests (iometer). The older Seagate Barracuda 750gb Sata II drive I have (Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 750 GB 7200RPM SATA 3 GB/s 32 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive ST3750528AS-Bare Drive (Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging) does make some sound while doing some reads/writes, but this drive - nothing at all.2. Very fast. Even when connected through the eSata interface (downgraded to Sata 2 - 3gb/s level), it still outperformed the internal Seagate Barracuda 750Gb drive I have - by about 10% (both in throughput and in access times).3. Size: obviously, enough for almost all purposes - as a great backup drive, as a store for videos/music at home.Cons: None serious so far; but I did notice that it gets slightly warm when I ran a continuous sequential read/write test for about 10 minutes (that's not the normal usage anyway and so it should be fine).My system setup: eSata interface (Sata 2); I will be testing with Sata 3 this week and update the review again. Performance tests ran include IOMeter (8 threads on a quad core cpu, 10 and 20Mb sequential read/writes).

The first hard drive I ever bought was a Seagate. It was a 20MB internal. Once I'd gotten it installed I thought "I'll never fill up all this space." That was more than twenty years ago (and it turns out I did fill up all that space).Here is the latest and possibly the last of the Seagate Barracuda drives, and it's a beauty. I just cannot get over how BIG the drive is. Two terabytes is TWO TRILLION BYTES. And it flies! Until SATA3 becomes the de facto standard, this drive will satisfy the needs of any hard-core gamer or video editing pro.I'd read about earlier large Seagate HDs having issues in multi-disk arrays on Mac or Linux systems, but I found that this drive works and plays well with everything I've got plugged in to my system. Installation was easy. The drive is remarkably quiet. The capacity reminds me of those stretch limousines you see on the freeway, amazingly large but moving right along.100% recommended. This is a terrific hard drive. And it's HUGE.---Months later: I've been trying to choke this thing somehow or other and it laughs off my every attempt. Really a nice bulletproof drive.

I've got to admit, after purchasing a 1TB drive I couldn't imagine ever needing more storage. Well, after my original hard drive failed, I don't think I can get enough for backups! So when this popped up on Vine, I didn't hesitate.The frustration free package is fantastic. I love being able to open something with the simple use of my hands. I didn't need to get out the Ginsu knife, or Leatherman multi-tool, or even a pair of super strength scissors to get to the drive. Love it!When they say bare, they mean it. They ship you dead metal. I've converted it to an external drive by using a 3.5" USB SATA external case and plugged it in...the computer recognized it, but it wouldn't show up under My Computer. Then I remembered you need to initialize and format the drive. Once I did that, my PC had no problem picking it up. I began by copying my music library over (12GB) from my 1TB drive as a backup. That took about 15 minutes flowing USB to USB.The drive is quiet, didn't get too warm and is 2TB!!! I'm not sure I can come close to filling this one, but I sure look forward to trying!
