I purchased three of these drives when they were discounted as a Gold Box Deal of the Day. I installed the three drives in an external eSATA RAID enclosure and configured them for RAID-5. The performance throughput from the drives has been more than adequate, and I have had no hints of failures like those that other reviewers have reported. The drives are not particularly quiet, but I'm not really concerned about that since I'm more concerned about performance for use in photo and video editing. Unless something changes in regards to reliability, I'd definitely recommend these drives.

This drive worked excellent right out of the box. I have an IBM ThinkCentre and the 80Gb drive that came with it was filling up after 4+ years. It only had 10% free space left. I was able to clone it and now its much faster loading and all my programs run much smoother. I was going to get a 300-350 Gb but the price difference was a no-brainer. I have always liked Seagate and several friends also recommended Seagate. Amazon, You made me a happy user of your service. Thank You

Seagate is currently the only manufacturer of hard disks that I trust having experienced disk failures from most of the other disk manufacturers products. I purchased 4 of these disks to go into a NAS enclosure to store data for a part-time business I run from my home and so far I'm very happy with these disks.

Works great. Took a little bit to figure out how to install it. I had to get a seperate data cable and find the extra screws on my tower. I also watched a few on line videos on how to do the install. But the drive has lots of room and works great.

Ужасно

Saw that this drive died for other people in about a week. Thought they just got unlucky, decided to give the drive a go.Worked fine for about a week. Started clicking out of the blue, no longer accessible.Sending back for a refund, not taking a chance on getting another defective one. This "stock" that they are pulling from obviously is hit or miss....do you really want to take your chances? Not me, I'm going with something else.

I built a new computer using two of these in a RAID(0) configuration. Everything was great for a week and then boom, a blue screen and errors when trying to boot. First time I've ever had a harddrive go that fast.I give Amazon points for taking them back and giving me a very quick refund but I couldn't wait for a replacement so I headed off to Best Buy to get a couple of new WD Caviar Black drives that cost more but seem to working okay.

Unfortunately, I got a bad drive and had to send it back. However, I replaced it with the exact same drive locally. The second drive works perfectly. Threw it into a new rig, partitioned it with GParted and dual-booted Windows 7 and Ubuntu. The unit is very quiet. Good amount of space for the money.

The price was good on this hard drive. I like the hard drive but sometimes when I open it or a folder inside, it takes some seconds to open. No problems with the other hard drives I have installed inside my gaming rig. I used it as a storing drive so not a big deal with it. It is very quiet.

This the the crap Seagate drive that has been failing. Mine lasted 2 months and it was gone. Don't expect a lot of help from Seagate. They claim its just a firmware problem but that doesn't seem to be the case. There are plenty of other hard drives out there. - don't waste your money on Seagate. The are probably trying to dump them all and hoping for the best.Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 SATA 6Gb/s 1 TB Internal Hard Drive with 32MB Cache (ST31000524AS)

Quiet drive and runs considerably cooler than the WD drive I replaced.5.9 Windows 7 performance index on my computer.The best thing about drive was the Seagate DiscWizard software you can download from the Seagate site. It transferred the system drive data in just 45 minutes. Great!

SSD's are still a little too pricey for my home build so I went with this drive. It's obviously not as quick as an SSD, but it is still pretty quick. I'm still installing stuff on it and haven't had time to clock it, but a great drive so far.

windows became really unresponsive and then after a reboot, i got a message saying something like there was a bad boot sector. trying to 'repair' with the win7 disc did not work. this has happened now with both drive i bought. thankfully amazon is good and i got new ones and they are running good (so far)no bad sectors reported with CHKDSK and the intel rapid storage utility says everything is ok. one more dead and i'm gonna get something else.

The hard drive comes in a simple unmarked package. Be sure to also order a SATA cable, since it does not come with one. SATA Data Cable (2pk.) You may need a right angle connector on the SATA cable to fit in your computer. StarTech 18in SATA to Right Angle SATA Serial ATA Cable (SATA18RA1)

This HD died in less than 1 week. The problems started by the Hard Drive sticking and therefore the computer locked up.The noise was so quiet that I had to put my up to the drive to hear that it was sticking. I gently tapped on the driveand it started up. Soon the drive started to loudly buzz and would do nothing. Returned to Seagate after 1 week.

Great value $47.00 for a 1TB SATA III hdd. Installed in minutes. Quiet operation. Only issue could be reliability and life of hdd and only time can tell.

I installed this drive and a week later it stopped working, the Motherboard wouldn't recognize it anymore no matter what I did. Had to request a replacement from Amazon. Might have been unlucky and hit a defective drive...

This drive is fast and quiet...what more could you ask for? I used BYOC - Build Your Own Computer Easy Steps Instructional DVD (also bought on amazon) and put together a sweet multimedia rig.

Purchased about one month ago, its performance in a Netgear NAS is meeting all expectations, The "noise" factor is really the fan in the Netgear which tends to be noisier than a QNAP that I have.

These are the work horse of my RAID 5. Beats my western digital's boot time. Astounding you can build a 5 tb raid for less than $300!
