I purchased this to do automatic backups of my hd, and I've also been using it as a central storage location for two iTunes libraries. Two computers iTunes point to one common library, works great. Very quiet, no performance issues. I've got it attached via USB to one computer that is networked to the other via Ethernet. Using Windows networking/sharing and Acronis True Image backup software.

I purchased the Seagate hard drive to back up my Macbook which was acting up. It has been great, the software is easy to use and, after the first time, backs up the information quickly with firewire. The information is also easy to access just as if it were an internal drive. I have not needed to use the restore feature yet, and hopefully won't have to, but so far I would highly recommend it.

I have used this item for several weeks and am completely satisfied with its performance. I had an external hard drive from another manufacturer which I used for 5 years, but after it caused my system to crash X2, I decided to switch to Seagate. Very easy to operate and a great comfort to know that my important data can be restored if needed.

I received great service, as usual, drive arrived 5 days prior to expected delivery date. Worked just like advertised right out of the box. Has ability to run from firewire or USB which was the selling point for me. It kept USB ports open for other devices.

This is a great hard drive. It never gets warm! I leave it all day on and never gets hot. I have never had any problem with it and I use it for entire backup of my company. It is great.

I overloaded my computer with images and found this product to store them on. No worry now of loosing them and no thousands of CD backups. Very easy to store your photos and retreive as needed. Compact, easy easy to install. Why did I wait so long.

I have been using this drive for the last three months pretty intensely for video editing. It has never crashed or had any problems, but it does seem to stop spinning if you arn't actively using it. It will start spinning again once you access a file, but it takes a moment to get going. Also, it is made of pretty cheap plastic that feels somewhat flimsy. I think it does the trick for the most part... it just doesn't feel like it will last forever. It's cheaper for a reason.-Kenny

This is my first external hard drive, and so far I am extremely impressed. It is extremely simple to use and install, and seems to be of good quality. I recommend it because it works well, is cheap, and is a Seagate, which is THE name in hard drives, or so I have heard.

This external hard drive is a little more expensive but is easy to set up and get going. I have already needed to restore files because of an internal hard drive problem. Seagate is worth the price and the Bounce Back software works very well.

Great product. Easy to install with the instructions and each backup is quick and seamless. I don't like how it reminds me when I haven't backed-up for a while but it's no problem. Quiet machine, I'm glad I chose the Seagate ST3300...

I have had no problems with this drive, no complaints other than a month after I bought this, I found another drive with 200 more gigs for only $20 more. But I'm still glad I bought this one.

What else can you ask from an external hard drive? The firewire was easy to hook up to my iMac G4 and once I copied my entire current contents on it, I was able to mount the disk image so I can use it as a start-up. It was cheap enough and takes up no space at all.

I SWITCHED FROM A 160GB MAXTOR MODEL 1 TO THIS DRIVE. THE MAXTOR WAS MUCH FASTER & EASY TO INSTALL AND OPERATE. THIS DRIVE IS SLOW AND NOT EASY TO USE. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE FACT THE I AM STILL RUNNING WINDOWS 98se.

I bought this one based on Consumer Reports high rating. It works great and is virtually silent. My only negative comment is that I couldn't get the "one touch backup software" to function properly. (Maybe I'm too impatient.)

This drive has been working really well for me. I back up files from my Linux and Windows boxes without a problem. The FireWire is really nice to have. Would definitely recommend.

As I used for a title... Do NOT use free shipping.. I did and Amazon used the lowest class of US Post Office shipping from Springfield Mass on July 30th. As of August 13th I had NOT received the package in Sebago, Maine, only 250 miles away..Amazon support, however, on learning that the package had not arrived sent me an over-night replacement free of charge.So, to sum up... Boo! for the Post Office (- 5 stars) and Hurray for Amazon +5 Stars for their attention to the problem with their "Free shipping" by Snail Mail.I can't imagine the condition of a computer Hard Drive after being in transit for more than 2 weeks...

Bought this drive to help migrate my system. I have to say, it's excellent. Plugged it in and my system instantly recognized it as another fixed disk. I'm only using USB 2.0, and I'm astonished at the data throughput. 200 gigs of video files took under three hours to transfer - that's quite fast (the firewire port would be comparable or slightly faster). The larger cache may be helping here.Noise: drive is audible (standard HDD clicks) in a dead-silent room, but not bad at all. Loud drives are a peeve of mine, and this one's not bad. Quieter than the Maxtor SATA in my system, louder than the Samsung, and louder than the WD.The form factor is a little goofy. I dunno, the design is totally thick...it's not the sexiest. Maxtor series II drives look way way cooler.All in all, this is a sweet drive. recommended.

I have used three other external drives and like this one the best. I run on a PC, so reformatted the drive to NTFS, but do use the firewire vs. the USB 2.0 connection. The drive is quite, cool and fast. I just bought a second one to give my son for Christmas.
