This thing is still a workhorse. I've had mine for years now, and it's still as good as the day I bought it. Buy it used or cheaply new and you'll have an excellent monitor for years. Recommended.

I bought three of these in July 2009 at Staples, for the three desktop PC's in home. They were available on a special Staples sale for $149 each, and I chose this model based on the atttractive display model at Staples, and on the favorable reviews here. A major, major selling point was that the Samsung 920NW has a matte finish, which all three of us prefer. Its 19" screen was also just the right size for each of us. I tried a 22" HP and it was too wide. We have limited depth space for the setup so the monitors are fairly close to the users.The monitors were exceptionally easy to set up at home, i.e., we just ran the installation CD and it worked perfectly. The Samsung 920NW's default colors and brightness were also close to perfect for our needs. We were all happy with our monitors.My wife's monitor died in early July 2009, not quite a year after the purchase. It went black and no longer shows as connected to any PC. We sent it to Samsung for service, and that service is unacceptable. Samsung technical support did nothing for weeks until we demanded that they either give us an exchange, as they had promised, or return the broken monitor.Then they sent us a replacement which does not work either. I've had it with Samsung and will not buy major electronics from them again. Samsung did not honor its warranty in my case.It does not matter how attractive or useful a monitor is if it dies within a year and the manufacturer refuses to honor its warranty.

Bought this for my in-laws to provide a larger screen replacing the laptop they had as the screen was too small. They LOVED this monitor. Looks great, well priced and definitely recommended. Note: be sure to check out multiple sites for price variance before purchasing.

I bought this monitor because I wanted a black 19 inch widescreen and this was one of only two I could find anywhere that didn't have one of those tacky glossy black bezels. I don't know what this trend is with making every single tech product as shiny as possible but to me the glossy black look is awful and I wish manufacturers would stop beating it to death and at least offer a normal matte black option for people who feel the same. That said, this monitor has a regular matte black bezel which looks great. Performance-wise it does the job very well. The picture is clear and looks sharp from a wide range of viewing angles. I only have two gripes with this monitor. One is just a matter of personal preference and the other is an unavoidable side-effect of using higher resolutions. First, the native resolution for this machine is 1440 x 900. This makes the image sharp, but on the tiny side. It's not so tiny that it's a huge issue, but it is smaller than I would prefer. None of the other resolutions are usable unfortunately, as they all result in image stretching or skewing. So while the 1440 x 900 res works fine, it will more or less be your only option and you will have to be comfortable with the smaller image and text size. What's interesting is that the instructions that come with it suggest setting the monitor to 1152 x 864, even though this is NOT the native resolution as advertised. While this resolution ALMOST works, it is not really a fit. You end up with larger, more appropriately-sized text and icons but the text appears slightly blocky and stretched, which I couldn't get used to. In the end I settled for the native res and dealt with things being slightly smaller. My other mini-gripe is that some lower quality images and videos that looked fine on my previous monitor now look pixelated and blocky. This is apparently because when lower resolution images are viewed on high resolution screens, it actually brings out the pixelation which may not have previously been visible. It's hard to hold this against the monitor though, since the same problem would have occured on any higher-res screen.All in all, it is a very nice monitor with an excellent picture, but does have a few flaws/minor annoyances which prevent me from giving it a higher rating.

Samsung SyncMaster 920NW 19-inch LCD Monitor is amazing.I am a computer programmer and a developer. I constantly need to have two screens. My laptop screen is great for writing code and debugging but not that great for displaying content.The Samsung Syncmaster 920NW 19-inch LCD Monitor has amazing colors, LCD makes it so the picture is crystal clear.The price is relatively cheap and shipping comes in a nice packaging and is extremely fast.Besides the fact that the color on this thing are amazing, it can also tilt back and forth allowing you to sit closely when you are programming and relaxed far when you are watching a movie.It is worth every penny. Highly recommend!

The Samsung 920 NW is an amazing monitor. It looks great- black casing, sleek style- and the picture is very sharp. The colors are bright and vibrant, and it is very easy to use (pretty much plug and play- you can install the software if you want, but it was not necessary on my Vista computer). For the price (I paid around $160) you won't find anything better ANYWHERE.

Great product. I love the fact that it's widescreen so that I can watch a DVD through Windows Media Player on it and do my work on my laptop.Only thing I dislike about it (and this may be a DVI-to-VGA thing anyway) is that on my Mac, the pixel resolution quality is not as great as on the PC.

I was alittle hesitant about buying this monitor because of some of the poor reviews I read about it on amazon, but it was the only monitor that said it was compatible with vista. I don't know if it actually needs to be compatable or not, but when I upgraded to vista my last monitor didn't do to well. It only lasted a total of about 16 months and that was with a repair done at around 10 months old. So, I thought I'd try this model. Its only been about a month so far, and all is well. There were many complaints about the picture, but I don't see a problem. It is very easy to adjust picture if needed, and it has a clear picture. My hope is that the monitor will hold up for at least two years.

When I got this model, I thought there was something seriously wrong with it -- lack of clarity in the images, brightness and contrast poor even after much adjustment, etc. After several talks with Samsung support, I got a replacement. Same model and same problems. I believe that this is a low-end monitor, and it shows. No, it's not a problem with my video card, etc. I tried the monitors on another machine with excellent display on its own monitor. Same result -- very poor image and after awhile tired eyes and a headache. I'm sure -- or at least hope -- other Samsung models are better, but avoid this one. Hear good things about the ultra-sharp lcd Dell line.

Well, I received this very (!!!) poorly packaged item purchased from Amazon (not a listed seller.) It arrived with the box literally split open at the seams and zero, no, nada padding at the bottom of the box. (I'll be happy to send photos to anyone who cares to see them.) Now, after connecting it, the monitor has vertical channels that create very blurry areas, like things look when you let your eyes go out of focus. Move the document around and the blurry areas of the document become clear while areas that were clear(ish) before become blurry in the same areas. Further, unlike others, I'm very, very unimpressed by the definition and clarity of this monitor. I think when it comes to this kind of stuff, you're better off spending a bit more and going to a retail store so that you can actually see before-hand what to expect and take it back the same day if there's a problem.Part 2: I bought a Dell and the difference is night and day. The Dell is far superior to the Samsung in every way for about the same price. The resolution and color clarity far surpass the Samsung. Honestly, even in the "clear" areas of the Samsung I sent back, it was among the lowest quality I had seen. Save yourself some frustration and go to Staples and check out the Dell monitors before you buy any other brand.

I purchased this item elsewhere. I was very dissapointed when I got it home though. I could only find one screen resolution which gave decent results, and even then the text was blurry on anything but a white background, and it had pink and green ghost images. All of the other screen resolutions gave blurry results. I tried installing the CD which did not make a difference. I've seen a handful of other bad reviews which state similar problems so it looks like i'm not alone. My computer is a custom built CAD station with an Nvidia Quadro video card. I also tried it on an older computer which gave much worse results.

I recently purchased my Samsung SyncMaster 920nw and as of yet I am very pleased with it. My reason for purchasing this brand was the price, and I purchased another product manufactured by Samsung years ago for my mom and it lasted for years! Then to top things off Amazon shipped it to me really fast without me paying shipping. Great monitor, great price and I absoluted love the free shipping.

Monitor works great. no problems, 1440X900 res. as promised. Had a problem with Video drivers had to find and install drivers myself so it would display properly but that is more of a vista problem.great monitor, great picture, no complaints.

Colors are very good but has slight ghost images/blurry letters. May be my older Dell8100 video card but sounds like other buyers have had same problem. If knew then what I know now, would not have bought it.

I purchased the 920NW to replace my original monitor on my Dell Optiplex 745. After attaching it, I immediate felt the image quality was poor. When I view white text on a black background, it became clear that there was a double image. I called Samsung, and they stated it was a known issue, and they would replace it by sending a new one. The second one had the same problem, and the third as well. Clearly there is an incompatibility with the graphics card, as I've seen comments by some others with the same problem. So if you buy this, better hope you get lucky.Update - tech support has been able to make some headway, but the image is still very unclear, with colors not being sharp.

I purchased a Samsung SyncMaster 920NW 19 monitor two weeks ago, and have been disappointed in the quality of the image. Color vibrancy on the unit is good, and like others have noted here, it worked first time out of the box with no fiddling, drivers, etc.However, I was very disappointed in the fuzzy text on the unit. It looks like the whole screen is slightly out of focus. After trying to adjust all of the built-in on-screen controls, I installed the drive that came with the monitor, but saw no improvement. And while this monitor supports a variety of resolutions, there are really only two that I have found that work adequately - the remainder of the resolution settings are completely unusable. I have also installed the latest graphics drivers and tried various driver settings - all to no avail.It looks like I'm going to be returning this unit to the retailer and hopefully finding a better solution.

Great purchase. Compared all the other models, and Samsung's contrast is by far the best. Bright clear distinct picture at all times. Easy to use (user friendly) push buttons to change picture billiance at any time. Amazon's price was by far the best.

I picked this monitor because it seemed decent and I trust Samsung as a brand. However, within the weeks that followed I've noticed several stores selling LG monitors with much better response times (2ms) and better contrast resolutions (2000:1) for about the same price. Had I known, I would've waited and gotten one of those. I've never had a problem with an LG product either.

Bought two of these to complete my three monitor view. Both of the monitors arrived with no dead pixels and very clear. Of course, what would you expect from Samsung? These guys are good!
