I have to say first that I didn't buy this on Amazon. I bought it at Sam's Club; they had a sale on it for $248. At that price this monitor is AMAZING. Even at the regular price (seems to fluctuate between $275-$300), after having the monitor for a week, I would gladly buy another should mine fail for any reason (or if I plan on having multiple monitors at any point).First off, yes, the monitor comes at full brightness on default (which is bright, and looks great). Honestly don't see why this would be a problem since most people would calibrate it to their tastes anyways. I love this monitor because not only is it very high quality, it is very simply. No unnecessary packaging, no unnecessary buttons or ports (Only has a power, HDMI, and DVI inputs, looks great). The monitor is VERY sleek and thin, and the picture is great. Upon opening the box, everything was packaged well and the monitor had no dead pixels. I spend a lot of my time at the computer and play a lot of FPS's and other games, as well as watching movies and surfing the internet. It excels in all of these, but the monitor is absolutely stunning for games. I sit about 2 feet away from the monitor, and I can safely say that 27" is the absolute maximum I would go for my desk layout right now. It's a very large, but very sleek, crisp, responsive monitor. I'm very happy with it and I'd recommend it to ANYONE with confidence who is looking for a larger, but affordable monitor.

I have connected this monitor to my computer: i5-2300 CPU @ 2.8 GHz, 8.00 GB of RAM, 64-bit Widows 7 Professional.Upon first start (boot-up), I noticed that the monitor was far too bright for me. Especially, since I use CAD software and sometimes work with my face quite close to the monitor. After tinkering with the touch buttons at the lower right corner, I figured them out and managed to turn down the brightness to 29% (my comfort level). Even at this level of brightness, the whites are bright, colors are brilliant, and letters are easy to read.After that, I installed (from the supplied diskette) Magic Tune, by downloading the latest version for Windows 7. The Magic Tune software was supposed to allow me to control monitor settings with the mouse, rather than with control buttons at the lower right corner of the bevel. Right after installing of Magic Tune, the computer started to restart itself in cycles or shut itself off completely. It wouldn't stay on long enough to allow me to make any changes. I finally started the computer in SAFETY MODE and uninstalled the Magic Tune. After that, everything worked fine.I enjoy the big bright display, the colors and the sharpness, and I would have given it five stars, if it weren't for the problem with the Magic Tune software.This (07/08/12) is the second day of me using this monitor. If I discover anything else that's interesting, I will update.

After resuming the computer from sleep the monitor will flicker and shortly after shut off. Two different video sources and different HDMI cables and the only solution is unplugging it and plugging it back in. I exchanged the monitor and had the same problem with the replacement. I then read more of the amazon reviews and some Google searching, it is a common problem. I would strongly advice a different model.

So I am sitting in a dark room and I want to adjust brightness. Good luck finding those sensor buttons to do that! I have to put stickers next to them or something.This monitor comes with a vintage VGA cable, no HDMI. And this cable is short. If you've got a computer tower case on one side of you desk, and the monitor on the opposite side, you're in trouble.You're stuck with the stock stand, no way to put this monitor on a VESA compatible stand. I got two of the monitors for my dual monitor setup, and I've just put them side by side. Can't adjust the height too. But with a monitor of this size you probably don't need to do any of that.Ok, for the price I'll keep it.

I purchased 2 from the local Costco. They look and work great. Have had them for a week now. Second day one started flickering and turning off after 30 seconds or so. Was irritated that I was going to have to exchange it. Then checked the cables and found that the power cable had some tension. Unplugged it and rerouted under my desk to remove tension plugged back in and no issues now. I remember having this same issue with the 2 Samsung LCD monitors that I have on another machine, and the fix was removing the cable tension. That's the only issues I have ever had with Samsung products even their tvs, just a weak connection point.

I owned an Atec 24" lcd monitor and was happy with it, but when I saw the price of a Samsung 27" monitor LED on sale I made the purchase. I am very happy I did. The power consumption is a third of what my previous monitor was using and the picture is superior, sharper, brighter and the viewing angle is very wide. As far as other people's comments about the brightness of the monitor I use my Nividia video drivers to adjust the color, brightness, contrast, saturation to get a perfect picture.

Great picture but screen goes black after short idle periods and must be powered on and off a dozen times or more in order to stay lit up again. The monitor I am using now is a replacement unit and has the same problems as the first one I purchased. The first one wouldn't even start-up without going through the same effort and it flickered quite a bit throughout use.

I liked everything about this Monitor except one major thing. Every time the computer hooked up to it woke from sleep, the screen would flicker until it was unplugged and plugged back in. It happened with three computers I tried it on. Nothing I tried fixed the issue except cutting the power. Returned and bought an Asus which I'm very happy with.

I bought one of these to match a 27 Samsung that I bought a year or so ago at the same place. I get this one home and the thing has only a VGA and HDMI output and they provide only a cheap VGA cable (which we all have laying around anyway). The directions have all the different ways you can hook it up but the DVI connector that they picture doesn't exist and none of the HDMI cables they picture are included. Since I just invested in a DVI KVM I now get to drive an hour each way to the only place in the Boston area that would have such a cable.The build quality is also cheap. Nothing like the older Samsung or the Vizio that its replacing.I have been buying Samsung for a number of years based on quality but I am now in the process of reconsidering as I experience more and more issues with their degrading quality and bad customer experience (I own quite a few of their products at this point).

I wish I wouldn't have wrote off the flicker & shutdown issues others have mentioned. The monitor I received had the same problem and had to be returned.

I ordered this monitor and the next day my client was complaining that it was randomly going on then off. Maybe it is a problem with this batch, but i wouldn't recommend anyone buying this.

Purchased one in Dec 2012, and when connected to a PC it flickered and died every few min. Amazon replaced that one however the replacement had the same fault. Tried on 3 computers with both monitor and HDMI connectors, but the same problem.I have another monitor just like this one purchased from Costco that doesnt have any problems so I expect Amazon has a bad batch.

Ordered the first one and it wouldn't come on. Sent it back and the second one came on but would not stay on. Sent it back and got my money back. Bought a different one from Best Buy.

I like the samsung brand and bought this monitor 2 weeks ago.I connected it to a laptop and DVD player with HDMI (bought on Amazon),great picture............. but no sound at all, even after multiple attempts.The Magic tune software doesn't work too.It has been disappointing so far.I hope I can find some information regarding correcting the sound problem.

I just bought two of these LED monitors, and a Mount-It! Articulating Dual Arm Computer Monitor Desk Mount for monitors up to 27" . I got the monitors and learned, the hard way, that they don't have standard VESA mounts. Defeats the purpose of my intentions.

For the price of it, the monitor is simply amazing. I like the fact that it has in-built speakers and it comes with a remote, giving me a TV-like experience in my room :)
