- + Проработал более года, другой самсунг этой же серии но на 750 гигов проработал полгода - ура! Плюс тот что сервис дает гарантию 3 года. Но нужна ли она если важная информация полетела?

Сдал 3 июня 2010 в ремонт - в единственный сервис центр в России! (у других и этого нету!!!!)
До сих пор не могу получить ответа (18 августа 2010), что с ним - готово не готово - Ответы такие - у нас нет работы поэтому мы не на работе! Нужен вам такой сервис? Написал в представительство (дозвониться невозможно) там послали далеко и надолго. Нужен такой сервис? Нужна такая фирма? а ведь у меня изрядно такой накопилось...
Самсунг дает гарантию на свои винты 3 года вне зависимоти от магазина (по серийному номеру), жаль магазины столько гарантии не дают, а то уже поменял бы на новый. А теперь жду ответа от супер сервисного центра - или на помойку или домой. Ищите фирмы и магазины которые дают обещанную фирмой гарантию (не обязательно самсунг), чтобы в случае невозможности ремонта можно было бы заменить на новый продукт (такие есть).

Температура винчестера при небольшой нагрузке не поднимается выше 25 градусов. Дополнительного охлаждения нет. - - Пока не обнаружено.
Трудно было его правильно установить и настроить. Материнская плата в моем компе древненькая :), и пока не прошил последним выпущенным BIOS, нормально запустить не мог.

Usually 1TB and up drives are not so good as a "primary" HD for they are slow.Not this one !I have 2 of them, one since about 1 1/2 year used as my "Primary" holding the Windows 7 Operating System (OS) and apps.And another once since about a year, also used as an O/S one running Windows Home Server.Also, on both of them I have loaded them to the "roof" with data, mostly HD video material and both of them are almost full by now.Yet, they are both still working just great, never had any bad file problem.And speed is not a problem as they are used for the OS.And they are quiet which matters for these 2 are in a desktop machine in my living room.And keep in mind: they boast a 3 years warranty !I just wished it would go back down in price to buy another one: I had them for $60 back then after some MicroCenter rebates.

In general I have been a big fan of Samsung electronics over the years. I have a Samsung plasma at home and 2 Samsung LCD monitors that are great. My problems started with Samsung when I purchased two internal SATA II hard drives in November of 2008. I use the hard drives with a Thermaltake hot swap drive bay for my rolling backup system at home. Everything worked great until April of 2009 when one of those two hard drives failed.Not a big deal; hard drives fail, that's why I have redundancy built into my backup plan. The fact that it failed after only 6 months is a bit concerning, but occasionally you get bad drives, and that is why there are warranties. Here's where my problem begins: this particular hard drive has financially sensitive information on it. So I don't want to blindly ship it off somewhere for RMA and never see the drive again. I would constantly be wondering in the back of my mind whether some random guy/gal got hold of the data on the drive and used it maliciously.So, I called Samsung support and spoke with them about the issue. To my shock, the support representative acted as though this issue had never come up before! No one has ever had concerns over the security of their data when submitting their hard drive for RMA? Are you kidding me? He forwarded me to Total Tech Solutions, Samsung's vendor who handles hard drive RMAs. Now as if Samsung's response wasn't bad enough, Total Tech Solutions was even more of a joke. The person I spoke with there gave no illusions of data security what-so-ever. His response to my inquiry was that the hard drives are received, checked and then immediately shipped to Korea. No way to have the drive shipped back to me, no way to secure the data, no way to do anything but to trust random people halfway around the world. Are you kidding me?So, I called Samsung support a second time, described the scenario to another representative. The person then referred to the support manager present at the time, but wouldn't let me speak to them. The response was that they could not help me. I tried to suggest several alternative means by which I could RMA the drive and still have some assurance of data security (take it to a local repair shop or Samsung dealer, have the drive shipped back to me after inspection, just trust the customer that the drive has failed and send a new one). No go. So I'm out a hard drive and the Samsung warranty is useless. I asked if there was anyone there who I could appeal to and was told flat out `no'! Seriously, are you kidding me?My next step was to track down, Jon Kang, the president of Samsung Semiconductor, on LinkedIn. I sent him a message, but have not heard back. I don't really expect to hear back given the track record that Samsung has shown me above.So there is my sad story. I've learned my lesson. Never buy Samsung hard drives, and I might extend that to never buy Samsung products in general, but we'll see. Secondly, I've learned that I should encrypt my backups even if they are not supposed to be leaving my possession.

I was using this drive as my backup. One day I turned the computer on, got lots of disk errors. Next day it just disappeared. Wouldn't even appear on My Computer list.First Samsung drive I've ever had problems with.Samsung replaced under warranty.Replacement is now operating in a docking station but gets really hot compared to other Samsung drives.Very concerned about its potential longevity.

I put this in my Macbook Pro ... thought this would be great for photos, music, etc.. stupid me. Hard drive has failed after 6 months... can't be read any more.. 500gb worth of data.. Stupid me, I haven't done a back up in 3 months... everything I've done since then.. all my photo shoots and everything else ... LOST. don't waste your time or money

This drive gave about a year's worth of semi-dependable service (lots of filesystem errors) and then it died. It won't even spin up now and there is a faint smell of burning electronics... I bought another one so that I can try to fix it. I would not recommend it unless you like headaches.

Bought two. These are excellent drives. I did a raid 1 with a 200GB operating system partition on the inner cylinder. With a quarter-stroked drive, the read speed and random access speed put the 300GB raptor to shame.Also, warranty complainer guy, this is a consumer-grade drive with a hardware warranty, not a support contract. They don;t care what 1's and 0's your have on that drive. You have three options: encrypt your data (too late), erase the drive with a hard drive degausser then send it in, or eat the loss. Sorry bro, but this one is on you.

Bought this hard drive a while back and used it as a storage hard drive. After minimal use, it started making clicking noise until it finally died. I am very disappointed at the quality of these hard drive.

Got tired of getting shafted by Amazons "free super saver shipping". Free should not mean delayed!!! Ordered 2 1.5 TB Samsungs at Newegg and they are great. Cost $109 each, shipped for free, and shipped FAST!!!! Amazon used to be my favorite. I can't say that anymore.

Zipzoomfly has these at a great price, rebate, and free shipping. I have yet to fill one up so no reason for 1.5TB or 2TB...yet. Relatively quiet, runs a little hot if just sitting on desk so make sure a fan is blowing across the drive. NO failures after a year of use.Initially I had a lot of trouble with the drives but they all turned out to be a MEMORY issue on my new, hand built computer. I had 4 of the drives corrupted (sometimes more than once) and had to reload op sys every time until I REPOSITIONED AND RESEATED my damn memory sticks. Luckily all of the drives were easily reformatted and recovered well. Lesson learned? If you think your hard drive has failed, use a diagnostic CD to check the drive AFTER reformatting. Likely that the drive is fine and that your computer screwed it up!

After reading the white papers and reviews available for this drive it was clearly not simply a replacement drive, but an upgrade.The read-write speeds are incredible. Considering the configuration of the number - and the draw - of internal components within my systems; any additional draw on power supplies are calculated. Here it was negligible. In the first workstation I installed one of these, heat is a major consideration. This drive produced practically no heat compared to any drive I've used.I wanted to wait for a period prior to writing a review to have the drive tested over time in a number of computers to see how it performed over time. The unit has proven a reliable high performance drive across the board.As when reading reviews, each reader is looking to see if one covers their specific needs. I will disclose the specifics of my use. These drives are currently being run in Powermac G5s and Mac Pros. I have not tested this drive type in a PC. My use is in film and video post production, primarily visual effects. So the drives are genuinely tested. Massive files are written to from them. They are used for everything from being the drives with the OS and softs on them, to rendering.While I'm sure they would perform as well in a PC, in Macs it has performed brilliantly.

I purchased 6 of these drives to use in a computer. One is the boot, and the other five for a RAID 5 array. The side of my computer case is still off as I haven't finished everything quite yet, but these drives are much quieter than the Maxtor 300 GB and 320 GB drives they replace. There are three Maxtor drives, one for the boot and two in a RAID 1 configuration.The Samsung drives also run significantly cooler as well. The old drives ran under 32-bit Vista Ultimate; the new drives are running under 64-bit Vista Ultimate. In addition to being cooler, they are much quieter than the Maxtor 320 GB drive and slightly quieter than the Maxtor 300 GB drives.I've read some reviews where others have commented that this drive is slower to spin up to ready than other drives. On average larger capacity drives tend to take additional time to come ready. The Samsung drives are in the ballpark (slightly faster, actually) when compared to drives in the same class from competitors.

I have 12 of these now. I had heat problems with other drives, but these run cool and quiet. Specs are great, and I have yet to have any problems whatsoever. Now that you can buy a dual-bay SATA dock for about $30, you can treat these guys as 1 TB cartridges and backups are easy. Looking back to my first hard drive purchases in the early 90s, which included a 100MB hardcard for $400, the storage available on *one* of these drives would have cost four million dollars! So recession or no, some things are cheaper and better than ever.

I purchased two of these drives to use in a raid-1 configuration as an archive volume and they have been good for that design. One reviewer complained about the long start time and idle time of these drives, but he should have done his research. I like the fact they consume less power and shutdown when not in use, so they are perfect for data that is used infrequently.

The price point when I got this drive at the time (2 month ago) was great compare to all other 1tb drives around. So I gives this drive a try, and I was really disappointed with it. Because the drive seems to have a really long idle time, a lot longer than any of other 1tb drives I have. If you left it idle for a while, you have to wait 10+ second before it starts to work again. WD and Seagate drives have idle time, but much less than this drive do. I will never buy this again. I should've stayed with WD or Seagate Drives.
