Inferior product to the Phillips Vacuum trimmer
I have owned both the Phillips 7200 and after it petered out after 7 months of use (2 yr warranty), i figure this would be a more robust product (5 yr warranty).
The truth is I much prefer the old Phillips I had. The Remington vacuum trimmer only catches about 50% of the hair it cuts, whereas for the the Phillips it was closer to 80%
What people say about the very flimsy plastic guard is true, it bends very easily leading to an uneven shave, and it's downright scary to use around a mustache due to the fear of pressing too hard and cutting way too close. The Phillips vacuum trimmer had a very hard plastic piece that made it easy and consistent to shave.
The sliding mechanism to adjust the height is worthless due to the bendy plastic guard, but is also a little more hassle to get to the correct setting even if it had a usable guard. The Phillips vacuum trimmer uses a rotating dial which is easier to use and has more granular settings.
The Remington vacuum trimmer is much louder and has more vibration than the Phillips trimmer, and changes pitch constantly in an annoying fashion while cutting hair as if the motor were struggling.
So if anyone is reading this, consider the Phillips 7200 over this. I know it has a shorter warranty period and in my case, gave out in less than a year, but i'll admit i did not take care of it as well as i should have. I will be returning my Remington to re-buy the Phillips, and i'm sure with more delicate care (not running the vacuum under water, etc) it would last longer.

Guard bends easily resulting in really uneven beard length
I’ve had the last two generations of the Phillips vacuum trimmers and after the last one broke, I went for Remington.
Honestly, I expected a higher quality experience from Remington. The length guard is super cheap plastic and bends in toward the blade if you press with ANY amount of strength (like when you’re trying to get a hair that grows in an awkward position.) This results in huge variances in how long your beard is when you’re done. I basically have to leave this on the lowest setting possible which is not ideal. At all.
Battery life is better than Phillips. Vacuum basket is very easy to clean (just pops out from the front of the trimmer.)
The vacuum works like MAGIC. Way better than the Phillips. There is just a tiny dusting of hairs on the counter when I’m done and I’m an Italian, beardy guy. That’s the best part about this trimmer.

Terrible design
The adjustable comb's locking mechanism is a very bad design. The button to adjust the comb's length is on the back of the trimmer just below the head. The picture shows the green button next to my thumb. A simple press on the button releases the lock, which makes the comb move freely up or down. I accidentally pressed it with my thumb while trimming, and this made the comb collapse to the lowest setting. This left a section of my beard trimmed down almost to my skin, which ruined my beard.
I would give this model of trimmer ZERO stars if it were an option. I do NOT recommend this product!

Works...mostly
I purchased this to replace a Phillips vacuum trimmer I had for several years. Overall, the trimmer is a resounding MEH.
Pros - Trimming and vacuum functions work as expected
Neutral - Cleaning is fine. No complaints, but it did not wow me either. I have not used it enough to judge the battery life
Cons - The length comb is very bulky. It makes it impossible to adequately trim my upper lip near my nose. I have to rely on a separate trimmer to complete the job.
Pros - Trimming and vacuum functions work as expected
Neutral - Cleaning is fine. No complaints, but it did not wow me either. I have not used it enough to judge the battery life

Great for stubble/trimming but not for shaving a full beard.
Excellent shaver for short stubble. I would never use this if you are shaving your beard though. With around 3-4 days of growth I have to empty the container at least once sometimes twice. If you have an actual beard you would be emptying it every swipe or so. The vacuum is amazing though. I’ve used it 6 times so far and have been super impressed with this version from the previous one I also own. Way less hair to clean up after which is phenomenal.

Awkward design, poor depth/height control
Nicely balanced. Great battery, feels solid. Nice vacuum feature. Quiet operation. Beard trimmer depth guide is incredibly poorly designed. Only one side attaches to trimmer body. The more you raise the guide for greater length of trimming, the less stable the guide is. Flexes easily meaning depth/height changes. In addition, the lock control to change adjustments is terrible. Hard to accurately move especially up for longer length. Final very poor design issue is it is nearly impossible to use the guide in a tight situation such as to trim mustache under your nose. I will say for just trimming the open face for sort length setting, it works great. I would just like to talk to the clean shaven engineer who designed this. The other strange thing is I’m replacing a decade or so old Remington trimmer MB-400 that is so far superior to this one—why did they ever discontinue it??

Useful trimmer that requires a bit of shifting pieces.
I bought this to supplement a Norelco beard trimmer with vacuum (which is no longer available - I left my working Norelco home so I bought this Remington for use on a trip). I'm pleased with the Remington, it trims beautifully. My only issues are with its design. I have to remove the plastic guide and blades in order to get to the vacuum container. That said, the vacuum on the Remington is much more effective than the Norelco - many fewer hairs escape the vacuum on the Remington. Another issue is that I have to change blades to detail my mustache edges (unlike on the Norelco) - but the edger works very well. So my bottom line is that this trimmer works very well but requires shifting around that the Norelco doesn't. I'd recommend it, though.

Well Designed Vacuum Trimmer!
I'm new to remington and sofar I'm really enjoying the switch. I used to be a Braun user but my disappointment with my Series 3 3040s was basically the nail in the coffin for Braun. The shaver worked but why do I need to make three or four passes to shave stubble? I mean come on. I used my Remington F8 foil shaver on a three day old beard and my God it chewed through it like my old Panasonic did! Basically cutting my shaving time in half!
Okay so enough rambling. On to this Remington MB6850 vacuum trimmer. Why did I want one? Because I get lazy. I let my beard grow out sometimes for weeks and well it gets to a point where I need to trim it up or take it all off. While my old Norelco 7200 vacuum trimmer did the job, but cleaning that trimmer was a nightmare. Hair would get packed INSIDE the actual cutter head! It would get so packed in there that I'd have to take it apart (the cutting head isn't supposed to be taken apart). This was a must to prevent the cutting heads movement from being hampered by hair getting stuck inside it. As for cleaning out the rest of the Norelco 7200 that was easy enough.
This Remington MB6850 on the other hand is a whole different design. Its basically a traditional trimmer with a vacuum portion at the cutting blades. It's simple and it works! Hair DOESN'T get stuck inside the head and instead it gets sucked into the canister. This vacuum trimmer also comes with large and small trimmer heads. Thank you Remington for not being cheap! As for cleaning, the head comes off like it would a hair clipper, you just pull up on the blades edge and the head comes off. The canister comes off by pressing both release buttons in at the same time and then heres the cool part. The filter mesh is on a little hinge that flips up! This makes cleaning very easy since everything is now open. Assembly is a two second process. Using this as a trimmer for my beard and side burns has been an absolute pleasure. It's just easy to use. The adjustable comb is simple. Just push the green button and move it up or down. Nothing complicated there. Someone else complained about pressing that button while your trimming. I've found that holding the trimmer with your hand chocked up so high that you push the combs release button makes it basically impossible to use. When held normally this trimmer is like any other trimmer albeit with some added bulk for the vacuum part.
So all in all this is probably the best vacuum trimmer I've used sofar. Before this the old Norelco T980 was my favorite but that model has long since been discontinued for about seven years. Now Norelco chooses style over function which isn't smart. Remington chooses function first then style. That's smart and a better design approach. I fully recommend the Remington MB6850. It's a great trimmer that's designed with ease of maintenance in mind and designed well enough that I feel it'll last a good while.

Makes Clean Up a Breeze
I've had this trimmer for a few months now and I can say I am super pleased with it. I wanted a trimmer that had a vacuum so I wouldn't have to spend as much time cleaning up and I can happily say this fits the bill. I'd estimate that about 90% of the hair that is cut would get sucked up into the compartment and all you need to do is detach it and gently tap it against a garbage can to empty it. On average using the trimmer for 2-3 minutes once every few days, I can easily go 4-6 weeks between charges, and I've even taken it when I travel so it's durable to boot.

Guard is too thick
Update: despite the usefulness of the vacuum my husband has switched to a different trimmer since this one can't cut at a consistent length. Bummer and a big waste of money so it can sit in the cupboard.
Previous: My husband's only used it twice, so if something changes I'll be sure to change my review. But so far it's working fine. The guard is super thick though and it makes it difficult to get a consistent shave. He can't seem to shave under his nose and beneath his bottom lip with the same length guard setting so I have to manually trim it with scissors. His last razor didn't have such a bulky guard and it was easy to get a consistent length.
I love the vacuum chamber though. It helps with clean up so much!

Bulky, but still worth the money
Overall, I'm happy. Does a good job of cutting the hairs. Lots of length adjustments. Battery life is excellent. Cut two kids hair with it and didn't need to recharge it. The vacuum function is handy but I dispute the claims that it gets 90% of the hair. However, it does reduce how much I have to clean up so it's still a worthwhile feature. Cleaning is a breeze. My biggest complaint is it's size. Compared to other non vacuum trimmers, it is big and occasionally makes it difficult to get the correct angle.

Poor design, uneven cut
I had a Phillips norelco trim and it broke after 1.5 year, so I figured I would try something different. Big mistake!! This trim is horrible. It has the most uneven cut at any length. The space between the end of the trimmer and where it actually cuts it to wide making it impossible to get near your nose. The trimmer attachment does not do a good job of shape. The vacuum bin it to small. The height adjustment is cheep and bends give an uneven cut. I can’t say that I like one thing about this trimmer better than my old one. Needless to say I will purchasing a different one. Remington really dropped the ball with this one.

Poor Guard Design
Really want to like it but maybe the worst trimmer I’ve ever owned. It feels sturdy enough, powerful, has the hair vacuum... the guard is just terrible. Pressure used drastically changes the length, the shortest setting is not short enough and you have to glide way past what seems natural to trim where you want. This last part makes it impossible to trim hair just below nose. I’ve gone back to using my several year old trimmer that struggles to hold a charge and is not sharp enough anymore just to avoid this one.

Supper handy! Almost perfect
The vacuum feature is a freaking GAME changer. Makes grooming all your -regions- super easy. The blades cut very finely, however the placement of the them makes aiming a bit awkward. Just take it very slow when your first using/learning this machine. The level comb is also a bit clunky, so it make evening out a bit harder and slower. Hair doesn't flow so smoothly through it because of it's clunk. Battery life is incredible! I only have to charge once every 2 weeks or so, and I trim to maintain shape every 3-4 days.

Like the original one but way better!
I owned a few older versions of this model for beard trimming and loved every one of them but inevitably those nickel batteries would short out after about 2 years of charging/discharging, still worth the price to just go and grab another but then they suddenly disappeared from the Remington trimmer line-up for quite a while only to finally reemerge with this ridiculously, almost foolishly stronger model that outperforms the older models 100 fold! This thing's a flat out, dead nuts accurate trimming beast! The vacuum feature works 100X's better than the older models while the runtime of it's lithium battery is nothing short of miraculous when compared to older and/or other trimmers/brands. This is the one trimmer to rule them all!! I've already ordered another as a back-up, just in case it suddenly disappears again!

The vacuum takes away from the functionality
I like the concept and it does get most of the hairs, but to accomplish this feat they had to pull the razor back about halfway down the top of the trimmer. This makes it especially hard to trim your mustache up by your nose. It takes some learning, but you can make this trimmer work for you. Not really worth the vacuum thing though as you still have to clean afterwards as it doesn't get all of the hairs. I wouldn't really recommend this if you desire a shorter trim.

Vacuum really works.
Love the vacuum feature. Handles most of my thick course stubble and is very easy to use. The guard works pretty good but would do better to have expose pointers or teeth. Am used to clipper guards that sort of lift hair as it cuts. Over all tho, love these. The battery hasn't quit on me yet, no noticable degredation in performance after cutting hair, beard, and man scaping. Did empty the hair bucket a couple times.

Let me start by saying this is the first beard trimmer I have ever owned so I am by no means an expert. After reading many reviews (good and bad) I chose this trimmer. After years of comb & scissor trimming I don't know how I ever got along without this handy little gadget. The vacuum future is great and even though you must empty quite often it still beats having the mess to clean up afterwards. I love having the multiple length feature with a single attachment and found as long as you keep it flat to your face it works as described. I found that if your patient with how much you remove (a little at a time) you will find this to be a great trimmer.

Solid little trimmer
I bought this trimmer to replace another vacuum-based trimmer, (Philips Norelco 7300). The vacuum in this new model is surprisingly powerful, leaving very little hair behind. The length guide loses 1 star for being a bit flimsy, but as long as you don't press down too hard it doesn't seem to flex. The vacuum bin loses 1 star for being tricky to open, but does a great job of trapping hair. I wish there was a battery meter on it, but it seems to run for a couple of weeks per charge.
Overall, very happy with this trimmer.

This is almost perfect
The battery charge lasts a long time and it does a great job trimming my beard. My only complaint is I wish it was better at collecting all the trimmings. I still get a little hair on me - although, it does better if I remember to empty it before it gets full. Depending on how long I wait between trimmings, sometimes I have to empty the hair out 3 times.

it took a little to get used to but it really does suck up the hair clippings if you use it right. at first it worked "ok" till i figured out you have to use it right. just have to make downward passes, its doesnt get as close if you go against the grain but it order to suck up most the hairs you have to use it with the grain

Average at Best
The trimmer is very average. The adjustment for length of cut is not as accurate as I prefer as well as when you press on the beard the plastic protector gives allowing uneven cuts. The cleaning aspect requires removal of the head cover versus easy door from front I had on my previous one. I use this as a backup but still using my old shaver with the broken door and just tape the broken door closed. I would not buy this particular one for my personal use again.

Poor Design
I didn't even need to plug this into the wall. After looking at it for 1 minute, i knew i was returning it. it has very little control for beard depth as the plastic flimsy piece will easily bend several millimeters changing the depth of cut as you shave. This is a TERRIBLE design. i can't believe it even has 4 stars. i am trying to get this down to a zero star so people stop buying it.

Effective trimmer
I use this for trimming my beard, and very much like the finely-graduated scale for setting the trim length (although at my advanced age I need glasses to read the tiny numbers). The vacuum is powerful and captures at least 95% of beard trimmings.
Unlike some other reviewers, I don't find that the beard guard flexes excessively in use (I have a gentle touch). Nor do I find it inconvenient to have to remove it in order to empty the vacuum chamber of clippings and to clean the trimmer blades.
