Construction quality if good. It's not too heavy and it's not too light. Anyway, I am not going to use as a diving weight/lead or something. It's stable when you put it on the table and doesn't fly with the wind or something.
It has an internal pre-amp. So you don't need an external pre-amp. Just connect it to any sound system with an RCA input and that's it. It will not work with a PC-type speakers because these have a jack/phone connector while here RCA is your friend.
Someone was complaining that this turntable doesn't have on/off button. In fact, on/off button is not necessary because when the arm goes back to the parking position, the turntable stops automatically. In that status, the disc doesn't turn, there is no light, no sound nothing... therefore, you don't need the on/off button.

It was very easy to set up and I was playing records within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box.
I will just echo what others have wrote about this, it is great and does the job it's supposed to do perfectly. Except...
Some LP's seem to be just a smidgen too wide. I realised this when the sound was slightly distorted, playing too slowly. The edge of the LP was catching on the edge of the side of the stylus pick up bracket. It was a case of filing off the edge (flash) of the LP or, a better solution, filing half a millimetre off the side of the plastic bracket, where it was making the slightest contact with the edge of the vinyl, which is what I did. problem solved. (If you do that, remember to vacuum the filings up..)
Apart from that minor hiccup, I love it. It is hooked up to a Pioneer VSX-920 receiver. The sound from the player seems to be more 'punchy' than CD equivalents - to me at least.

Even the 1st turntable I received made the same noise after each song. I am now left with £300 worth of Vinyl that is hard for me to listen to because of this.
Basically when a song finishes you can hear the surface noise disappear and then reappear again as if it's been faded out and back up again, this is personally annoying to me because I like to back my Vinyl up onto mini disc so that I can keep the Vinyl in great condition.
I bought quite a lot of 180 gram Vinyl to play on this and all played with no skipping except for all my AC/DC ones, I contacted Pioneer and they said that because of the structure of the arm, any records with a heavy bassline in the grooves or something will likely skip.
Had I known this beforehand, I wouldn't have bought the turntable or the Vinyl. The actual sound quality is reasonably decent through my Marantz amp and my only real gripe is the surface noise issue at the end of each track.
I don't know if anyone else has had the same surface noise issue but that coupled with the fact that it doesn't say anywhere that certain records might not play has made me give this 3 stars.

I am not an expert audiophile and I certainly do not have the speakers needed to appreciate the real output, but this is my first turntable after the one I had when I was a little child and it feels great.
Considering that it is not a product that just got to the shelves, price could be lower.. but.. that's still in the acceptable range.

- the audio-out lead supplied is incredibly short and you need to get an extension lead to attach it to anything more than about six inches away
- the switches and markings are black on black which isn't very practical.
Otherwise good.

I decided to buy a turntable only as I have a good surround amp for music.
so I searched amazon and who came up but pioneer.
I almost bought it straight away but was put off by all the reviews and questions about it.
eventually I took the plunge and glad I did.
it's perfect just like my old tower turntable in design and use.
if you love vinyl you are probably from the 80's or earlier so no it's not digital in any way but the build quality is really high, what you would expect for an updated 80's turntable in my opinion- every visible moving part has been greased and runs as smooth as.
it comes with everything you need no question-if you have an amp with aux phono sockets the leads are built into the unit so you are good to go straight out of the box.
it even comes with a mains plug which I prefer as my old one had to plug into the tower for power which made it unusable with anything else.
all speed and size start/stop buttons are automated "just how they used to be" but if you do have an old 10" you can use your hands which is the fun of records.
overall pioneer are still the class they were.

Only problem is speakers have short cables so have to be close together and can distort at very high volume.
